Tecmo Super Bowl
Review by XtremeGundamX
"Best on the NES!!!"
A good follow up of the original version with more teams more detailing and more modes of play. This game is just as good as the original with upgrades to almost every thing. The players get 8 plays to choose from and more teams. The game has just as good of graphics as the original with more movie type clips and equally good control. The game has great sound and music. Tecmo did a good job making a follow up to the original game that was also great. This game shares the same characteristics as the older version. This game is a very good improvement over the Tecmo Bowl and they are both great. Check out my other review for that game. This is a very good game to play with or without a friend.
GAMEPLAY **9**
Just as good as the original with one flaw. Sometimes your player kinda goes in there own direction and your not controlling them. The play picking, kicking, passing, and so on is just as easy as the original. Easy button combos are used to pick plays either run or pass. Everything can be down with the touch of a button besides the plays that require a two button combo. The control of the game is quick and responsive with no problems at all. Besides one.
SOUND / MUSIC **9**
Featuring more music and sound that is pleasing to the ear. The sound may not be majorly different than the original just more. All of the music and sound is great sounding and is detailed pretty well. The quarterback still goes hut hut hut hut until the ball is spiked and can get annoying but hey it’s just one minor problem. The sounds and music in this game are an improvement over the original. The sounds are a lot more pleasing to hear besides the hut hut hut. The music in this game is a lot more detailed and sounds great.
GRAPHICS **9**
The graphics really didn’t improve in this title they are the same as the original. Although the screen is detailed to the fullest. The game has sidelines with people on it and a lot more of the video type movies sometimes shown during a play. The players are a little bigger and they are more detailed. The levels are very neat looking. Most of the graphics are smooth flowing and look great but sometimes the players go on and off the screen like in the original.
REPLAYABILITY **10**
With more modes of play to choose from such as Preseason, Season Game, Pro Bowl, and you can view teams data. With 14 AFC teams and 14 NFC players to choose from it is very high in this part of the game. Also great to play with friends or just with the computer. The game should last for quite some time with all of the modes of play and it’s very fun to play. This game is for anyone. You can play this game alone or with friends and its still fun.
CHALLENGE **8**
Like in the other game in the series the game is fairly simple. The only thing in this game is the interceptions. The computer seems to get them all the time when you throw the ball so be careful. The game is not all that hard and is sure to give you a challenge or two once in a while.
OVERALL**9**
A great game to buy for $15 or less and is sure to give hours of fun and play. Whether your playing by your self or with a friend the game is a good improvement over the original not that the original title is bad at all. This is better than the original Tecmo Bowl with a few improvements. I would suggest this game but Read the review and you decide.
