"Good ol' Stooges"
The Three Stooges is developed by Activision and designed by Cinemaware. It is intended to play on the Nintendo Entertainment System.
The game's story begins with the Banker informing the owner of an Orphanage that if the mortgage is not paid, they will lose the property. The Three Stooges come to the owner's rescue as they have the oh-so-brilliant idea of gathering enough money to pay off the month's mortgage.
Every day within the thirty day span, you will spin a roulette to see what you will be doing that certain day. You can press A to stop it within the allotted turns before it automatically stops. Whatever it lands on will be the activity you will do in order to gain money. Activities vary from being waiters to competing in boxing competitions. Be warned that there will also be choices that will hinder your progress and perhaps lose the hard earned money. The Three Stooges does indeed live up to it's name, though, as how they gain money from the jobs they do could be amusing for one.
Albeit the idea sounds rather innovative and fun, it could get boring after halfway through, which could kill it's replayablity. Some of the jokes could not be understood unless you're a fan of the series. Also, if you don't have a manual, it could be a bit tricky finding out how exactly you control the stooges in some jobs, but it's not that big of a deal after you play it a second time.
The graphics for this game are well done, as everyone, including Moe, Larry and Curly in some cases. The audio gave me a surprise, as there was voice clips within the game. They were heard at best, decent, for an 8-bit console. The controls are responsive in some cases, and sometimes they're a bit too slow in other cases.
So on the bottom line would be that while it is a nice, funny game for anyone to play, the lack of activities could be get boring and repetitive as the 30 days progress by, hindering it's replayability. Nonetheless, it wouldn't hurt give this game a try.
