"Darkwing Duck, the greatest!"
Whenever I think of the 90s, I usually think of Darkwing Duck, (one of my favorite cartoons ever), Disney Afternoon, Sonic the Hedgehog and hip-hop. It had great villains, excellent storyline and great characters unlike the mindless stuff that kids like these days. When Capcom made the game in 1992, it had the challenge that even Mario 3 was a piece of cake and it was similar to the show. I'm going to review the Masked Mallard's game.
Story: A major crime wave has hit St. Canard and Darkwing Duck has to save St. Canard before the city becomes destroyed. Darkwing Duck is definitely the terror that flaps in the night. Story gets a 7/10
Graphics: Darkwing Duck looks exactly like his cartoon counterpart. He looks great so does Launchpad. The enemies and villains look great too. The backgrounds were very detailed and colorful and it reminded me of the show as well. Graphics gets a 10/10
Sound/Music: Excellent, indeed! The music resembles the cartoon a lot and it's very catchy and never gets repetitive. And the dying music is hilarious to laugh at. The sound effects are great as well. Sound/Music gets a 10/10
Control: No difficulty here. Just the simple NES controller. Darkwing jumps and shoots perfectly. DW never gets unresponsive or nothing like that. Control gets a 10/10.
Game Play: You play as Darkwing Duck, a hero of St .Canard's and you go through seven levels beating up the bad guys and collecting money and power ups. This is one of DW's biggest challenges. The game play resembles Mega Man as well since both of them have guns and power ups. The only flaw with the game play that it's kind of short but it's still pretty sweet. The game play is great other than that, so the game play gets a 9/10.
Challenge: This game may be easy for the first two levels, but then things pick up and become harder. I say medium-hard.
Replay Value: This game definitely has replay value, one that you would come back to every time to beat it.
Fun Factor: This game gave me hours of fun and it will kill some time you may have on your hands.
Buy/Rent/Forget: I would definitely buy this game, especially the fact that it has one of my favorite cartoon characters starring it in. It's worth every penny.
The Wrap-Up (Give me numbers!)
Story:7/10
Graphics:10/10
Sound/Music:10/10
Control:10/10
Game Play:9/10
The Grand Total:9.2 rounded to a 9 for Game FAQS.
Conclusion
I LOVE YOU DARKWING! YOUR GAME ROCKS!
Real Conclusion: Darkwing Duck is a great game and a very great cartoon. This show is definitely one of the top reasons why I rushed home from school everyday to watch it. I wish they would bring this show back to TV instead of the dumb stuff we have now. Anyways, this game is great, buy it now!
