1. Introduction
Welcome once again. I thought I would make some changes to my third
guide since my previous two guides, and I did. This time around, I'll
make sure that I don't have to put in some of the same things I did
before. My fourth guide is written about Chun Li, so go away if you are
looking for someone else. It generally focuses on the main move-combo
part as with my other FAQs, but now I've included more information, and
strategies if the last three guides weren't helpful to you. I'll try
hard to update the guides and provide more information to you. In the
meantime, go ahead and read.
2. About Chun Li
Well first, before tackling to Chun Li's moves and combos for her, I'd
like to discuss about Chun Li. Who is Chun Li? What is her style of
play? Is she good or horrible? Well if you haven't played or know about
Street Fighter, I'll discuss everything here about Chun Li for the
reasons that apply to fighting with her in SFEX3.
Chun Li is a decent character. The most obvious thing to know is that
kicks are what Chun Li is mostly special about. She is also fast, and
her moves are excellent. They do decent damage, and can play as a
important part of fighting. Chun Li doesn't have any glaring weaknesses
(as far as I can tell), so that makes her great as a starting
character. If you are new to Street Fighter, I reccomend using her. She
may not be the best character in the entire game, but she surely kicks
butt if used very well.
3. Chun Li's Move List
Now it's on to Chun Li's move list. Hopefully I have provided enough
information to make Chun Li's moves more descriptive. While reading
the moves, you'll find out the nature of each move, their
effectivenesses, capabilities, and some strategy on them. I'll also
make surethat I'll try to point out the move itself, if it wasn't as
interesting to know about.
Throws:
(LP+LK)
The move involves Chun Li doing a dance, where she sidesteps with the
opponent and strikes them each time. She finishes by twirling around
the opponent's arm and pushing the opponent away, which will knock
them away. Very good Throw to deal some decent damage and keeping an
opponent away.
(B+LP+LK)
Chun Li throws the opponent onto the ground with force. Another good
move to keep a opponent away. In addition, it also inflicts more damage
than her first Throw too.
Other Moves:
(MP+MK)
Chun Li does a split. If an opponent crouches while you do this, it
will stun them and give you an opportunity to attack before they
recovery from the stun. This is great for starting a combo, and it is
fairly fast. If blocked though, prepare to face a counterattack from
your opponent, as it has a rather slow recovery time which will leave
you wide open.
(F+HP)
Chun Li does an elbow thrust which is directed towards the opponent's
stomach. It can easily be countered, so be very careful. It also is
slow, which is not a good thing. I often avoid this move, and I
reccomend you do so too, unless you can take risks.
(F+HK)
Just a lousy upward kick. Most of the above can apply to this move too,
and it is a lot more slower too, so be very very careful. Of course,
for one who likes to take risks, then test it out and see the results,
and you will know what I mean.
Special Moves:
Hyaretsu Kyaku (K repeatedly)
Chun Li's kick special. She will do a rapid-fire series of kicks. The
main problem with this is that it pushes the opponent away, so you
can't continue kicking them. Good to earn some early hits in a combo.
It deals out a good amount of damage.
Kikouken (B (charge), F+P)
Chun Li's classic projectile. It has limited range and if used too far
away from the opponent, the projectile will disappear in front of their
face. The Punch button you press determines the range, so the higher
the button, the shorter the range. Use it to block incoming projectiles
(Specials only, not Supers) and as a distance move to keep the
opponent away.
Hienshu (D, DB, B+K)
Chun Li does a backflip while moving forward and nails anyone within
her wrath. The Hienshu is a good move to avoid certain moves, and
depending on the one it avoids, it can also counter an opponent too.
Use the flips to your advantage by flipping over your opponent
continously. This can cause you to avoid and then counterattack them
while they are aiming at you in the wrong direction. The Kick button
you press depends on the speed and distance of the Hienshu. Usually, a
smart opponent can predict this out and will likely aim at the
direction you are jumping at, so be careful too.
Spinning Bird Kick (D, DF, F+K)
Chun Li spins in a helicopter-like motion with her legs out, nailing
the opponent a certain amount of times before ending by a kick while
landing, which will knock the opponent away. The Kick button you press
determines the amount of spins (hits) Chun Li will do in her Spinning
Bird Kick before knocking the opponent away, which are:
LK= 1 spins and 1 kick (2 Hits)
MK= 3 spins and 1 kick (4 Hits)
HK= 5 spins and 1 kick (6 hits)
Good to avoid sweeps, but it is slow, so oftenly, it is usually blocked
before Chun Li can hit them. Be very careful.
Gomen Ne! (LP-LP-F-LK-HP)
Chun Li's taunting move. She moves forward a bit with her hand out
while saying "Gomen Ne?". This is one of the worsest moves in the game,
that deals quite small amount of damage (the same as a Light Kick). If
anyone touches Chun Li while doing this, they will get hurt. A rather
risky strategy for this move is to do it while an opponent is landing,
so that they will land on you (if you have good timing) and get damaged
while falling down. It may be horrible for it's ridiculous effect, but
it is a bit more better than Sakura's A-Ha-Ha!.
Super Combos:
Senretsu Kyaku (D, DF, F, D, DF, F+K)
A kick combo. Chun Li does two 180-degree kicks and finishes off with a
Hyaretsu Kyaku, which will deal multiple hits before sending the
opponent flying away. This deals good damage, and is a effective move
to use in combos. It also looks pretty cool too.
Kikosho (D, DF, F, D, DF, F+P)
This replaces the Kikouken with a Kikosho blast. Chun Li uses her
energy to generate a energy ball, which can blast any opponent who
touches it, for up to 5 Hits. Very good to block projectiles (except
for Hokuto's Arrow and Bison's Psycho Cannon) and avoid certain attacks
(it's much like creating a barrier in front of you). Though it may not
be a projectile, it inflicts heavy damage and is quick enough to be
executed before your opponent can execute an attack.
Hazan-Tensho-Kyaku (D, DB, B, D, DB, B+K)
Perhaps not as effective as the Senretsu Kyaku (well, for me at least).
Chun Li will do a series of rotating kicks while moving upward like a
helicopter. Though not as impressive, it is very useful for a few
reasons. You can use it to avoid certain moves, and knock an opponent
out of the air. Not particularly the best Super Combo, but it will be
handy in certain situations.
Meteor Combo:
Kikosho Goku (D, DF, F, D, DF, F+PPP)
The Kikosho is now modified in this move. This is much larger, and can
blast the opponent and inflict good damage as well. Best move to
prevent certain moves, since it is VERY large (larger than Sakura's
Nekketsu Hadouken) and is quite large enough to avoid your opponent's
action. Depending on how smart your opponent is, they usually can tell
when you are executing the move, and once you do they usually block.
This will defitnitely be handy during tight situations. Very effective
counterattack too.
5. Strategies
Before fighting with Chun Li, let's get some handy strategies and tips
for fighting with her. I'll provide as much strategies as possible to
help you out, and I'll try to update some time later. This section will
give you tips and strategies (as I said above) that will defitnitely be
useful in a pinch. I would like to recommend that you remember
these strategies.
Speed
As I said in "About Chun Li", she has excellent speed. Use this to your
advantage by striking and backing off. If an opponent is close, give
them big time by countering them with a Super if they dare to attack.
The Hienshu is an excellent move for this strategy.
Counterattacking
Always keep this in mind. Counterattacking is when your opponent
attacks, misses/blocked and then you hit them back. Yet again, an
excellent move for this strategy is the Hienshu. Since you can jump
over an opponent while doing this, this will allow you to avoid an
attack. This will leave your opponent wide open for unleashing a move,
or set them up for a combo.
Combos
Combos should always be the main thing in your mind. Combos are a
series of regular attacks, Specials, and Super Combos that mix up
together to form big damage. This will allow you to deal heavy damage
to your opponent and lessen their health very quickly. It also makes
a tough opponent a little easier to beat, and will provide you enough
damage dealt to them to ensure that you have no problem beating your
opponent at all.
Move Break
A Move Break is a certain attack that can break another attack. You'll
be able to strike back also. For example, your opponent dares to hit
you with a jumping attack. Execute your Kikosho and in an instant, your
opponent's attack will be broken and dealt back with a more damaging at
tack. This is very useful to know, and once you do, you'll become a
formidable player to be reckoned with.
Avoiding/Dodging
Dodging attacks can save your health from being depleted. It is another
important thing to know. Not only does it save your health, it can also
have them waste the move they had done. This also leaves your opponent
open for a counterattack or combo (which I have explained above).
Super Dodging to Counterattacking
Here is a very useful strategy that I found out. Do the Hyaretsu Kyaku, then
keep hitting K after it connects. This will cause you to kick, leap
over the opponent, kick again, leap over the opponent over and over
until you don't do it anymore. The result is that you strike, pass by
and strike again, and your opponent cannot block or counter you. It
makes a very useful strategy to know, and it will drive your opponent
nuts.
6. Combos
Gag....... this section is INCREDIBLY short. I'm very sorry, since my
time in the game I was looking for damaging combos to do. Very
disappointing, you must say. Of course, but I'll be sure to update
more combos for this section. In the meantime...... I'll give you the
combos I found for now.
