1. Version history

*** Version 1.0, 3/4/02 ***

This is the first version of this FAQ, I added all of the challenges and
everything else you can see here! Since this is only version one, there are
bound to be some mistakes here and there. If you find any (and this doesn’t
apply to spelling errors) then please e-mail me and I will correct them.

2. *** Important Note! ***

As of now, this guide may only be found on the following sites with my
permission. If anyone finds it on any other site please e-mail me
immediately.

http://www.gamefaqs.com
http://www.neoseeker.com

3. Contact info

If you need to contact me you can do so at mfthesoccernut@aol.com if you have any
questions or suggestions please send them to me and I will answer as quickly
as possible. Please remember that I do have a life apart from the computer so
don’t flood me with e-mails unless you think they are important. Please note
that any e-mails I think are particularly annoying will probably result in me
filtering your e-mails.

4. New Stuff!

As this is only version 1.0 I hope to put several new things in here. I will
add a FAQ to this guide as soon as I get some questions about it, and maybe a
list of how to get some of the gaps as well. I probably will not, however,
include a gap list as it can be found in the game under the options menu. If
you have any suggestions of other things that should be in here that aren’t,
please tell me!

**Tip**
Most of the score challenges require lots of manualing to get, max out your
balance as early as possible

5. Boarder score: 250,000 pts.

Easy. Easy easy easy. Manual straight down to the first jump and jump off the
end of it so that you go higher. Pull off a flip-grap combo and then a
special or two. Land and manual to the next jump. Jump* off the end of this
one as well and do a flip or two before you come to the platform with the
logo in front of you. Land and manual on the platform and then either jump
from platform to platform and land in manuals, or slide along the bar that
starts on the second platform. In any case jump off when the platform ends
and do some flips and specials before you land. Make sure to land it cleanly
because you don’t want to get your score diminished by getting “sloppy”. Once
you have done this you should easily have the boarder score.

*If you don’t ollie at the end of this jump you won’t go high enough to get
on the first platform.

6. Pro Score: 600,000 pts.

This score isn’t nearly as easy, but it still shouldn’t be a problem at all.
Manual straight down to the first jump and jump off the end of it so that you
go higher. Pull off a flip-grap combo and then a special or two. Land and
manual to the next jump. Jump off the end of this one as well and do a flip
or two before you come to the platform with the logo in front of you. Land
and manual on the platform and then either jump from platform to platform and
land in manuals, or slide along the bar that starts on the second platform.
In any case jump off when the platform ends and do some flips and specials
before you land. Make sure to land it cleanly because you don’t want to get
your score diminished by getting “sloppy”. You should be more than halfway
there by now, and getting another 300,000 shouldn’t be a problem with the
four minutes you have left. If you can’t do it any other way you can hit the
left lift* at the bottom of the run and do it all over again.

*Hitting the right lift will take you back to the top, but it takes you a
ways to the right of the first big jump.

7. Sick Score: 1,000,000 pts.

Now this one is actually a little bit hard. The level is so big that the best
way to get this score is to play it for a while and learn where everything
is. What I will do here is to give you some tips on places where you can
score really big.

a) The first couple of jumps are really big and you can get great scores
there. Read the pro score part to see how to get the best points from
them.

b) There are _tons_ of rails to slide on in this level. One of the very best
ways to get points is to use them a lot. Also, if your character has a
slide special make sure to use it to rack up some major points. One more
tip is that some of the longest (and straightest) rails are up high.

c) The halfpipes in this level go a long way. Manual up to them and then
slide the rim to get a really big score.

d) If you have a big score racked up from doing lots of flips or slides, go
to the ground and manual and then immediately jump; doing this many times
in a row can greatly increase your multiplier since any trick will add to
it no matter how small it is. Doing this you can turn a measly five
thousand points into 75,000 or more. One note about this is that once your
multiplier gets up to about fifteen or so you will start getting half
multipliers if you are doing the same kind of manual every time.

e) Hitting the lifts at the end will bring you back up to the top where you
can get some good scores. The left lift will bring you to the first big
jumps, and the right lift will bring you a ways to the right of them.

f) If one of your character’s specials is a manual then use it instead of the
regular manuals. It will get you a _lot_ more points.

8. Finish before 3:40 with 150,000 pts.

This one is the hardest one of all the levels. Before you start you should
have _at least_ five or six speed. More is of course better. If you don’t
have this by now then you should go do some of the challenges in the other
levels until you do. There are many different ways to do this challenge, but
here is the way that I did it. Manual to the first big jump and ollie at the
very end of it. Do some flip-grap combos and a special or two in the air and
then land in a manual. Manual to the second jump and this time _do not_ ollie
at the end, you don’t want to get on the platform. Trick in the air and land
in a manual for the third time. Go off the last of the three big jumps and
trick in the air before landing it cleanly. Now you should have it. Stay in a
tuck the whole way down and avoid running over rails on the ground, as they
will make you jump and slow you down. If you hit anything at all you will
probably want to retry, because the time will be very close. When you come to
the end, go to the left of the escalators and lifts and let yourself go over
the cliff and into the finish line.

**Note**
Do not jump off the last cliff; the clock stops when you hit any part of the
ground past the finish line. If you jump you will fly over the finish line
and hit the ground past the line a ways, which might cost you those few
precious seconds.

9. Collect the Gotcha Logos

Hard to find, hard to get. These logos are a pain in the but if I do say so
myself. ;) This guide should make them much easier, though.

Logo one: Go straight off the second big jump at the very beginning. The logo
is on the platform straight ahead. Make sure you ollie at the end of the jump
or you won’t go high enough.

Logo two:
Immediately go off the front left side of the platform and fall down to the
snow. If you are lucky you will miss hitting the third big jump. If you are
not you might fall. In any case go into the small little halfpipe you can see
in front of you. Before the pipe ends and goes through a tunnel go up the
left-hand side of it pointing diagonally forward (you don’t have to ollie).
If you do it right you will get onto the roof of the tunnel and get the LEVEL
UP gap. Now you are in another little pipe. Do the same thing as before
except on the right hand side of it. You should go up to another
platform/pipe and get the AGAIN gap. Now go almost straight up the left-hand
side and hold triangle. If you do it right you will slide along a big metal
beam thing. If you accidentally go perfectly straight up the pipe you might
plant on it instead. Now just hold triangle and keep yourself balanced to get
the logo.

**Note**
If you have good speed going into this you shouldn’t have to ollie off any of
the pipes to get to the next level. If you don’t have much speed you might
have to ollie off some of them, especially the last one.

Logo three: (hardest)
After getting logo number two just let yourself fall. Tilt yourself just a
little bit backward and wait until you hit the ground. You might fall and you
might not, depending on your landing. Either way you have to pick yourself up
and go straight over the right hand side of the halfpipe (the part you landed
pointing towards). A very short ways after you have come over the pipe you
should see a small rail just a little ways out from the building on the right
(not the big obvious one that you will go under). Slide up this and jump to
the next one right above you. Slide this second one and jump to the one right
above it. Slide the third one until it ends.

Now take a hard right and go to the far side of the thing in the middle
(where the cones are). Go as far up as your speed will take you and then wait
until your guy turns himself around and goes the other way. Go straight and
hit the sign in front of you* and go over the little hop down to another
platform. Go right in the middle of this and ollie about half way up the
jump**. This may take you a few tries but if you do it right you should hit
the far edge of the bridge below you. Slide this until you get onto a weird
thing with yellow bars sticking out to the right of you. Just keep holding
triangle and you should get on this and slide to the end. Don’t do anything
except hold triangle and balance and you should land on a reddish pipe, which
in turn will drop you off on another one of the things with the yellow pipes.
Slide this to the end and drop off onto another one just like it.

Now slide the yellow edge that is straight in front (not behind) you. Slide
this to the very end (don’t jump off) and bonk the red thing in front of you.
This will fall and shatter the glass below you. Go down and get to the ground
as quickly as you can, you may land on some weird bobsled track things, but
if you do then get off them as quickly as possible. Once on the ground go to
the left side of the halfpipe as quickly as possible. Keep going down a ways
until you see a tree that you can slide on. Slide this tree and then jump at
the end to get the logo.

*You don’t have to hit the sign to get the logo, I just think it is a good
guideline as to where to go off the edge.

**Depending on your characters speed you may have to jump in a slightly
different spot than I have told you to do here. If you have a slow character,
you may have to go farther to the right. If you have a fast character, go
right where I told you, or maybe a little bit more to the left because my guy
had ten speed stats when I did this. Also, If you jump more than halfway up
the jump you will probably fly right over the bridge, if you jump less than
halfway you will not get the outside edge that you are trying for.

**One Last Note** This one took me more than ten tries to get, don’t get
discouraged if you don’t manage it right off. The real key lies in finding
the right place to jump to get on the bridge for logo three.

Logo four:
After you get logo three continue down the mountain and hit the left-hand
lift to bring you back to the top. Take a hard left and go through the two
signs you will see in the middle of the left-hand fence, if you jump off the
edge you will get the LAST ONES A DOOZY gap. Now you will see a weird moving
walkway thing to the left. Follow it down on the right hand side of it until
you see a shed right near the edge of the platform you are on (past the
lift). Go right up next to it and then go a little bit to the right just
before you go off the edge. If you do it right you will land on a blue
bridge*. Go along it until you come to where it turns off to the right. Jump
straight off here and you will land on the place where you were for part of
logo three. Keep your speed up when you land and jump diagonally up the left
side of the quarterpipe thing in the middle**. Hold triangle and slide on the
yellow bar that you get on. When you get near the end you will see the logo,
jump to the left before the bar ends to get logo number four.

*Be careful not to press X while you are in the air or when you land you will
bonk the bridge and go right off it. One more tip for getting on this is that
if you don’t quite think you will make it onto the bridge you can slide the
edge and get to the same place.

**If you don’t go diagonally up this it is very likely that you will plant
instead of slide the bar above you. While this is a gap, you don’t want to do
this or when you come down you will probably be going too slow to try again.

***Very Important!***
This will not work if you haven’t collapsed the bridge yet, because the
bridge will still be up much higher than you need it to be. If this is the
case then you can do one of two things to get logo four. No. 1, collapse the
bridge and then follow my instructions. ;) No. 2, Find the small rail that
you got on after logo number two and get up onto the place that way. Note
that this is a much harder way because you won’t have enough speed to jump
off the quarterpipe, and you will have to get the speed by going up and down
the pipes on the side a bunch of times. My strong recommendation is to go
ahead and collapse the bridge, it’s really easy anyway.

10. Find the Secret Sponsor

Before you do this one, COLLAPSE THE BRIDGE! It is an easy challenge and it
makes several other challenges easier. If for some reason you feel like being
obstinate, refer to the last note on the challenge above for another way of
getting up onto the place you need to be.

Unfortunately this is just about as hard as getting logo number three. If
you’re determined to get it however then you should be able to get it in a
half-hour or so if you use one of these methods:

Method One:

At the beginning of the run take a hard left and go through the two signs you
will see in the middle of the left-hand fence, now go off the edge to your
left. If you jump (instead of fall) off the edge you will get the LAST ONES A
DOOZY gap. Now you will see a weird moving walkway thing to the left. Follow
it down on the right hand side of it until you see a shed right near the edge
of the platform you are on (past the lift). Go right up next to it and then
go a little bit to the right just before you go off the edge. If you do it
right you will land on a blue bridge. Go along it until you come to where it
turns off to the right. Jump straight off here and you will land on the place
where you were for part of logo three. Now take a hard right and go to the
far side of the thing in the middle (where the cones are). Go straight and
hit the sign in front of you and go over the little hop down to another
platform. Go right in the middle of this and ollie about half way up the
jump. This may take you a few tries but if you do it right you should hit the
far edge of the bridge below you. Slide this until you get onto a weird thing
with yellow bars sticking out to the right of you. Just keep holding triangle
and you should get on this and slide to the end. Don’t do anything except
hold triangle and balance and you should land on a reddish pipe, which in
turn will drop you off on another one of the things with the yellow pipes.
Slide this to the end and drop off onto another one just like it. Now slide
the yellow edge that is straight in front (not behind) you. Jump off the end
of this (over the red thing) and land. If you have already gotten the logos,
make sure you don’t fall through the broken glass place in the middle. Go
straight down this place without going over the edge until you see a yellow
bar a little ways ahead of you slanting down a little bit.

Jump off the edge and onto this bar. Get off the bar when it ends and quickly
get onto another yellow bar a little bit to your right. Slide this until you
get to the very end and then jump off. Go through the glass, get the gap, and
then hold triangle. You will land on a blue bar. Jump just before it ends to
get the secret sponsor.

Method Two (slightly easier in my opinion)

Go to the left at the beginning of the run and go through the two signs in
the left-hand side of the fence. Drop off the edge and follow the moving
walkway down on the right hand side. A little bit to the left you will see a
jump. Go off it. You will land on a place with lots of tables and chairs, and
there is another jump at the end of this little platform. Go off this and try
not to jump right into the side of the G-train (ouch). When you land, go all
the way to the left-hand side until you see a jump. _Jump_ off the left hand
side of this so that you get on a yellow bar on the left-hand wall of the
run. At the end of this bar you will see another one just like it a little
ways above you. Jump to this one. At the end of this you will see yet another
yellow bar. Jump to this one and slide it all the way to the end (a long
ways) and when you are close enough jump to the yellow bar to the right hand
side of it. Slide this and jump off just before it ends. If you jumped at the
right time you will go through some glass, get a gap and then you will land
on a blue bar. Make sure you are holding triangle so that you will slide it.
This bar leads you right to the secret sponsor, jump just before it ends to
get it.

11. Bring down the Man

This is a very easy challenge with a cool little animation as well. First of
all, at the beginning of the level take a left and break through the signs on
the left-hand fence. Go off the edge and follow the moving walkway thing down
to where it ends. Make sure you miss the lift. Right in front of you there
should be a jump that sends you off the edge. Take it but don’t jump off the
end (you don’t want to land on the place with all the tables and chairs).
Once you land, go to the right but don’t go down into the halfpipe. Soon you
should see a medium sized jump with three or four yellow poles on the ground
going over and around it. Slide the middle pole that goes right over the
jump. Don’t jump when the pole ends and keep holding triangle. You should
land on another yellow pole. After sliding a little ways on this you should
come close to another couple of poles. Jump to the middle one. Slide this
until it brings you up a little ways onto a very narrow platform. Take a very
hard left and slide the edge right in front of you. You should now be sliding
the edge of the narrow platform headed toward the left side of the run. Soon
you will see a place where the edge you are sliding goes up a little ways.
Wait until you are at the top (so that you are going slow) and then hop off
the edge onto the platform*. Now point yourself uphill just a little bit. The
idea is to get your boarder to start going the other way without falling off
the narrow platform. Once your guy heads the other way slide the same edge as
before but heading the other direction. Just a little ways down you should
see a yellow pole to your left leading up. Jump onto it and slide it. You
will not have enough speed to make it up so jump over and over until you are
near the end. The end of this pole will deposit you right onto the top of the
sign. All you have to do now is bonk.

*The platform mentioned here is the same one that you are already on. All you
have to do is stop sliding on the edge. Don’t get confused and think I meant
some other platform that isn’t there!

12. Transfer on the G-train

This is one of the easier challenges in Gotcha Glacier. Throughout the run
you will see metal things in the shape of a G. What you have to do to get a
“G” is slide on something and then jump through a G and then land and slide
on something else. Below is a list of where all the G’s are and how to do get
them.

#1
At the start of the run go to the left and bust through the signs in the
left-hand fence. Drop off the edge and you will see a weird moving walkway
thing. On the left hand side at the very beginning you should see a teal
colored bar that curves up and to the right just a little bit before it ends.
Slide this and drop off onto another bar right above the middle of the moving
walkway. Slide this for a little ways until you see the G in front of you.
Jump off the rail and through the G, making sure to keep holding triangle so
that you slide the bar on the other side of the G.

**Note**
To get this G you should jump off the middle rail when you are at the highest
point of it, which is just above a purple metal beam thing (you can’t miss
it). The only problem is that this challenge can be very difficult if you
don’t have 10 ollie stat points. Most characters will have ten by this time,
but if for some reason you don’t you will probably have to use a big or super
ollie to get through it.

#2
After getting the first G come down off the rail and go straight down the
moving walkway. Make sure that you miss the lift at the end of it and take
the jump off the end of the platform. You should land on a place that has
lots of tables and chairs and other stuff like that. Try not to hit the
tables because although they don’t look it, they are quite solid! Go just a
little ways down and you will see a ramp to your left. Jump up the left hand
ramp and hold triangle; you should get on a rail leading slightly to the
right. The rail will lead you right to the second G. Jump through the G and
slide the red thing that you will land on to get the second G.

#3
After getting the second G hop off the red thing that you landed on and fall
down to the ground. Now you will see two halfpipes, one to the left, and one
to the right. Both are just as easy to do but for now go on the left-hand
side. Soon you will see a yellow pole going up the front of a jump with red
cones in front of it. Slide up this pole until you get on the top of a narrow
platform. Now the pole goes a little bit more to the right. Continue sliding
it until you see three or four other poles just like it to your right. Jump
to one of the two in the middle and then quickly jump through the G. Hold
triangle and slide something where you land to get the it.

**Note**
To get this G you may have to jump through it going a little bit to the right
or left in order to land on something that you can slide.

#4
Take a hard right and go straight to the right without going downhill. After
going a little ways you should see some escalators heading down the hill.
Right in the middle of the escalators you will see a flat silver place with
plants on it. Jump on it and hold triangle and you will slide on an orange
(or maybe red) bar that you couldn’t see before. This bar will lead you right
to G number four. To get the G make sure you jump to the left or right when
you go through it or you won’t land on something that you can slide on. One
more to go!

#5
Take the right hand lift at the bottom of the run and stay to the right hand
side of the run. About half to three-quarters of the way down you will see a
mess of yellow rails*. To be exact, there are actually seven rails. Take the
middle one and slide it. This will bring you right to the last G. Jump
through it and slide one of the rails on the other side to get it.

*This is the easiest G to get, but it is also easy to miss. Starting
immediately after you take the lift at the end of the run make sure you stay
as far to the right as you can, avoiding halfpipes and jumps and anything
else that will block your view. While the G isn’t terribly hard to find it is
really annoying to have all your work on the other G’s go down the drain
because you weren’t paying attention and consequently missed the last G
entirely. Believe me on this one.

13. Collapse the bridge

This is a _very_ easy challenge, probably the easiest one in Gotcha other
than the boarder score. First, take a left and break through the two signs in
the left side fence. Jump off the edge and follow the moving walkway very
closely on the right hand side. Soon you should see a black rail going
diagonally upward and to the left. You don’t want to slide this one*. Keep
going until you see a second rail that looks almost exactly like the first
one. This is the one you want to slide! The black rail will take you right to
another rail. Hold triangle and slide this one too. Slide this rail until it
ends and hop over the railing onto the walkway. Now slow down a little bit
and jump straight over the railing just before it turns to the left and
ends*. If you do it right you should land right on top of one of two very
short yellow bars right next to each other. Slide one of them and it should
say “one of two bridge bolts”. Now continue down the bridge until you see
another set of two short yellow bars just like the first one. Slide one of
these and you’ve done it. Easy huh? ;)

*This part is a little tricky. Depending on how much you slowed yourself down
you may have to jump in a slightly different place than the one I said to.
Since there is no way to tell you _exactly_ how fast to go you will have to
experiment a couple of times to get it right. The place I told you to jump
should be very close, however.

CONGRATULATIONS! Assuming you have completed the other levels then you just
beat the game. Enjoy the secret character you get and make sure you try out
his manual special, it’s hilarious.

14. Credits and thanks

First of all I would like to thank Activision for making this game. Everyone
says that it’s no THPS3 but it’s still great by my standards.

I would also like to thank David Blake for writing the excellent guides to
the earlier levels that helped me get to the later ones, and finally myself,
it’s hard work writing one of these ya know! :)

Please look for my other guides on Squaw Valley and Mount hood Meadows. You
should be able to find both of them on gamefaqs.com and neoseeker.com.
