Enjoy my guide for Legaia 2: Duel Saga. I spent countless hours working on
this to make it my best guide ever.

****************************** < 1.0 Introduction > **************************
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
Here's my first new guide in a long time, I hope you enjoy it. It's for one of
my favorite games, Legaia 2: Duel Saga. I'll explain more about everything in
the sections directly below this, but let me tell you a little background
story about this guide before I start. I originally planned to do a Legaia 2:
Duel Saga guide when it first came out, and actually had one up to 174k before
my old computer died without warning, and with it went my Legaia: DS guide as
well as FF7), before I got a chance to save it! So, this guide won't have as
awesome a format as the old one did, but this one will be just as descriptive,
if not more, and I will work really hard on it. I hope you enjoy it!

+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--
Greetings again, this is Psycho Penguin again with another guide. I've been
trying to work hard to get guides up for all my favorite games, and so I came
to Legaia: Duel Saga. At the time I wrote this, the game had no good guides,
so I decided to check it out and see what I could do. My first guide got eaten
alive, and my second one's format got messed up halfway through, and I had to
reformat every line manually. So, this guide was not my easiest.
And I do have quite a few guides and reviews. Writing and gaming are two of my
favorite hobbies, as you can tell, but I also enjoy lots of other things. I am
really into wrestling and sports, especially playing them. I also love to
watch sports, however, and know a lot about them. I do consider myself to be a
pretty intelligent guy. ^_^
My favorite game series is Final Fantasy, but I also love the Legend of Legaia
series, as well as any good sports games out there. My favorite games of all
time are Final Fantasy 7 and Legend of Legaia. Hopefully I'll have guides for
both of them up one day (the one I have up for Legaia right now sucks).
I hope you enjoy this guide, as well as the rest of mine!

+------------------------------ [ 1.2 Game Information ] --------------------+
+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--
Legaia 2: Duel Saga is the sequel to the often overlooked classic, Legend of
Legaia. While not being as fun as its predecessor, it offered new gameplay
ideas and managed to be a lot more complex. The removal of seru was a bad
idea, but the addition of micromanaging of skills and equipment was
worthwhile. The battle system did not improve as much as I expected, with the
only major additions being variable arts and origin attacks instead of seru
attacks.
Overall, I was quite pleased with Legaia 2: Duel Saga. It's not the greatest
RPG ever, but Contrail really didn't rest on its laurels, providing an
entertaining 40-hour game that more than satisfied my craving for a 2nd Legene
of Legaia game.

+------------------------------ [ 1.3 Guide Information ] -------------------+
+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--
This guide was NOT easy to do. My first time through, I got a big version of
the guide going, and then my iMac's monitor died, killing the computer
effectively. I decided to start a new one, which is what you see here. The
problems didn't end there, however. On this one, my format somehow got messed
up, and I had to reformat the entire guide by hand. Every table and line break
got messed up, and it took MANY hours to recover.
Regardless, I hope you are pleased with this effort, as I struggled to do
this, but here it is. I tried to have a comprehensive look at the game,
breaking down everything as best as I possibly could. I'm not good at this
kind of stuff, and my main strength lies in the walkthrough, as well as
statistics, so make sure to check those out, and I hope you enjoy the guide.

+----------------------------------- [ 2.2 Basics ] -------------------------+
+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--
Here is a section for all of the game basics that you won't be able to find in
other sections, including an in-depth breakdown of the menu system, how to
handle the customizing of items, hints and tips, etc. It's all here!
--
MENU SCREEN: The menu screen in Legaia 2 is not terribly complex at all. To
the left of the screen, you will see a listing of your current characters,
along with their current level, HP, MP, AP, and how much experience they need
to get to the main level. The bottom right tells you how long you've been
playing, and how much gold you have. Usual stuff. Now for a breakdown of the
nine options in the menu.
Items: In a somewhat inventive twist not incorporated into a lot of games, due
to the high amount of items you'll encounter on your journey, the items are
separated into a bunch of different sections. The first section displays all
the items in your inventory. The second section displays only potions and
draughts. Third section is for all other one-use items. Fourth section is for
equippable items, fifth section is for the rest of the items, and the sixth
section is for accessories.
It's easiest to scroll down to find a particular item by using the L1 and R1
buttons. This scrolls down from one screen to the next, and ends up saving a
lot of time. You can also press square to sort out the items in the order you
want to. I usually do it by item name, but you can do it however is most
comfortable for you. At the bottom of the screen, you can check out the
effects of the item.. and that's about it.
Origins: This is a pretty straightforward screen.. it basically allows you to
check the status of the origins you have in your party. The only statistics
you can check out are the Level and EXP of the origin, and the only origin
you'll be able to use is Maya's (if you need to heal or whatnot), so you won't
find yourself coming to this screen too much during the game.
Equip: The main thing to look for here is an item's weight. Each character can
only hold a certain amount of weight before going overboard. If a character is
equipping items with 91 weight total, and they can only hold 96, they won't be
able to use that accessory with a weight of 7. Management is very important.
The cool thing about the accessories is that you can equip as many as your
weight allows.
Another important thing to remember when you go to equip is that each weapon,
armor, or accessory will have certain skills attached to it. Skills can range
from being very negative (AP Cut 2), to very positive, so determining if that
powerful armor with the bad skill is worth equipping is one of the many
decisions you have to make while playing through the game. And no, you can't
change a weapon or armor's skills. Sorry.
Status: Here is where you can check a character's statistics. Everything from
Hit Points to Defense (high and Low) can be checked on this screen. If you
push L1 and R1, you can scroll through six lists. The origin list shows the
origins the character has equipped, as well as how much EXP they have, and
what level they are on. Of course, you can check this in Origin screen, but oh
well...
The next screen over gives a listing of all the art moves the character has
learned over the course of the game. The weapons, armor, and accessories the
character has equipped are on the next screen, then followed by a listing of
the nicknames the character has earned on the following screen. The next two
screens are a listing of the skills the character has equipped (and you can
also check how they are doing in terms of EXP), and a list of the recipes the
character has learned so far.
Skills: This is the screen where you can equip offensive and defensive skills.
You may come here, and wonder why you can't equip a skill you're learning.. if
that's the case, it's auto-equipped. This is for defensive and offensive
skills only.. skills like AP Boost are automatically applied. Defensive skills
are applied when you select guard.. AP Guard is a nice one to learn, as is HP
Guard. Offensive skills are usually applied when you attack, like Kamikaze,
which sacrifices defense for offense. You can only equip one at a time.
Config, Order, Save, Load: The typical options found in every role playing
game ever. Config lets you mess around with the options, like changing the
message speed and stuff. Order lets you change the order of the characters.
Use Save and Load to *gasp* save and load your game. Shocking stuff, I know.
---
STATUS EFFECTS: During battle, your characters will encounter that pesky thing
found in every role playing game: status effects. They're just as bad this
time around, but you should be used to the status effects you face if you have
ever played a RPG before. Here's a brief listing of all the status effects in
the game.
Poison - Hit Points decrease every round.
Venom - Hit Points decrease every round, cannot be recovered.
Paralysis - Your character will be unable to do anything.
Sleep - Character is put to sleep, preventing an action, defense decreased.
Stun - Your character will be unable to do anything.
Seal - Blocks off abilities that use MP.
Confusion - Changes the directional buttons around.. left becomes right, etc.
Spellbind - Art moves are blocked off.
Bewitch - Character attacks other party members.
Petrify - Basically dead. Won't be able to gain EXP.
Berserk - Character automatically attacks, with higher attack power.
Blind - Character's accuracy goes way down, will be unable to hit frequently.
Fear - Character will automatically guard every round.
Plague - HP, MP, and AP go down each round, can be passed to party members.
Critical - HP automatically reduced to 1.
Downed - HP automatically reduced to 0.
Those status effects really suck, huh? Fortunately, there's always ways to
heal them, and you can also use them on enemies, who usually won't be able to
heal them. Also, you get four special status effects that really help you out.
Invincible - You won't endure any damage.
Protected - The damage you receive is cut in half.
Invisible - Enemy will be unable to see you.
Blessed - Attack and defense are doubled.
So, you will be able to cope with the negative status effects, and you'll have
good status effects to back you up. Doesn't sound like a bad deal to me.
---
ITEM COMBINATION: One of the main things added from the original Legend of
Legaia to its sequel was the addition of an item combination screen.
Basically, you can take a few items and combine them to make new ones. Finding
rare items and then combining them leads to even rarer items. You can only get
the best weapons and armor from combining, so pay attention, as the process is
pretty straightforward, but may take some time to learn.
First, you need to have some materials present in order to combine. By the
time you get the combine option, you should already have some items, however.
Now, to get Combine option, go to the campsite or go to a shop and select the
Combine option. A list will open up. The list will show you the items you
currently have, and what you need in order to create a new item for it.
For instance, let's say you have a Warrior Fauld, and you want to create a new
item. You will see in the lower right hand corner that you need a Bodiga Silk
Cloth, Liaza Magic Cloth, Earth Dragon Wing, and Wind Spirit Stone. If you
have these four items, select okay, and that is that, you have a Violet Fauld
just like that.
Later on in the game, you can collect 15 Heaven's Secrets by doing side
quests. This allows you to get the ultimate weapon and armors for each
character.
---
HINTS AND TIPS: There are a lot of things to keep in mind when playing this
game. Here are a few.
- Always keep track of what skills you have equipped. You don't want the
Kamikaze skill if you're fighting enemies you know you can't kill in one hit,
and you don't want Ayne to have the Turtle skill.
- Know when to use AP and when to conserve it. If you are fighting weak
enemies, you don't have to go all out on them. Build up AP using normal moves,
then save the AP for when you need it.
- During battles, you will notice that some enemies are flying, while others
are small. Make sure to aim for them. Low attacks won't hit flying enemies,
and high attacks won't hurt ground-based enemies.
- Always stay stocked up on items, especially healing items and those that
cure abnormal statuses. They are inexpensive, and they will always come in
handy.
- Remember that you can combine art attacks together. Try to find a way to get
the maximum amount of hits and attack power from your attacks as possible.
- Don't be afraid to use origins. Even the weakest origins can kill a group of
enemies that would normally take lots of time to kill.
+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--
+-------------------------------- [ 2.3 Battle System ] ---------------------+
+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--
Legaia 2: Duel Saga employs the innovative battle system found in its
predecessor. You get a wide variety of options to choose from in the game
during battles, and my goal is to explain all of this to you as quickly and
easily as possible.
---
BATTLE OPTIONS: These are fairly easy to figure out once you get the hang of
it. When you start off a battle, you get an option on whether you want to run
or fight. Afterwards, each character gets to go, either on manual or auto,
depending on how you want them. Selecting character commands is relatively
painless, here's a quick look at them.
Attack - This is your most basic command option, and the one you will be using
the most. This allows you to set up in the tactical arts system. More on this
in section 2.5 below.
Item - This command allows you to choose from a list of items, when you then
get to select a character or characters to use it on. Pretty basic stuff here.
Origin - This allows you to use magic. More on that below in section 2.6
Defend - Use it to defend in this round, as well as to use any skills that you
have equipped that work with the "defend" command. Unlike Legaia, in this
game, you don't get AP automatically for defending. Instead, you can equip a
skill, which gives you a certain effect when you defend. For instance, one
might give you AP back, while others help you recover HP.
---
AUTO BATTLE: If you want, you can put the game on auto-battle, and sit back
and relax as the characters do their own thing in battle, depending on what
tactic you set it on. Here is a list of the four tactics in this game:
Aggressive Attack - Concentrate solely on killing the enemies by using your
strongest arts attacks, depending on how much AP you have left. Good for non-
boss enemies, as well as enemies you know you can kill fairly easily. I use
this tactic most of all, as it's the most simple and effective one.
Standard Attack - This is also an excellent tactic to use. Not only will you
attack enemies using art commands during battle, but your characters will take
the time to heal themselves when they have to. This is usually better to use
than even Aggressive Attack, as the chances of perishing during battle are
much lower.
Recover/AP Up - Just like the tactic says, this one focuses solely on
recovering your party and getting their AP up. This is a good tactic to use
early on in a boss fight, or a tough battle, as you can basically stay alive
for a while until you get enough AP to do a variable art.
Recover - Characters will take priority on healing themselves, followed by
guarding and attacking when the time is right. This is good if you want to
have a defensive-style battle, but usually I avoid using this tactic as much
as possible, due to the relative length of battles it provides.
---
ELEMENTS: Elements work pretty much the same way they always do. If an enemy
has a different element than the one you attack it with, it will do greater
damage, blah blah, we all know this already, right?
---
WINNING BATTLES: Once you have completed a battle, each character, as well as
origin, will get EXP. EXP is not divided amongst everyone, so leveling up is a
little bit easier in this game than normally. You also get GP, which is used
to buy weapons, armors, items, etc.
+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--
+------------------------------------ [ 2.4 Arts ] --------------------------+
+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--
The Arts attack system makes a grand return from Legend of Legaia, and is done
so in style. The similarities are immediately known and seen. For one, you
have to input button commands. Combining these button commands unlock moves
called "Arts". Therefore, the Arts system makes the Legend of Legaia system
feel more like a fighting game and not a typical RPG battle system.
Once you unlock an art move, the combination of buttons is put into a menu.
For instance, if you pushed Down Down Up, and that was an art move, it will
show up in your menu, that you can select by pushing the triangle button when
you are inputting your button commands. Each move will show up in the order
that the game processes them. The order goes like this:
Variable
Miracle
Super
Then they are listed by the amount of button commands you have to input in
order to do the move. Four-button moves are higher on your list than three-
button moves.
The cool thing about these moves is that you can combine them together. If you
have six button spaces to input, you can do 2 3-button moves in your turn.
Also, let's say one move ends with Down, and the next move starts with Down.
You can combine those moves by inputting only ONE Down button command. If it's
Up-Up-Down and Down-Left-Right, you can combine them together by using Up-Up-
Down-Left-Right. You just did two moves in five spaces. Knowing how to do this
and using this to your advantage will go a long way, due to the extra hits you
will get.
There are several types of arts moves: Your regular art attacks are basic
moves that do a decent amount of damage, and gain you AP. Super art attacks
are more powerful, but you lose AP from doing them. Miracle arts take 100 AP,
and you need half HP or less to do them. They are extremely powerful, though.
Variable arts are awesome double team moves, but both people need to have 100
AP and perform their variable art command inputs.

Here is a listing of all the characters in Legaia 2, as well as some FAQs I
see asked all the time.
+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--
+----------------------------- [ 3.1 Characters ] ---------------------------+
+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--
Here is a listing of all the characters in Legaia 2, as well as a description
of them I put together just for you.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
| | LANG |
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
| Lang is the prototypical hero of the game. You may think | Age: 17 |
| he is one thing at first, but due to the game's many | Height: 5'9" |
| twists and surprises, he ends up being something | Weight: 147 |
| completely different. In battle, he is one of the most | Weapon: Sword |
| versatile characters, as he has a perfect blend of speed | |
| and power. His arts attacks are powerful, and can be | |
| combined together for some devastating attacks. He | |
| levels up quite well, as his statistics are blended in | |
| perfectly the entire game. You are forced to use him the | |
| whole game, but you gladly will once you see how good he | |
| is in battle. | |
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
| | MAYA |
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
| Maya starts off the game as a mute, as you wonder what | Age: 14 |
| happened to her that prevents her from coming out of her | Height: 5'1" |
| shell. Once she does so, she becomes an awesome party | Weight: 103 |
| member. She doesn't use a weapon, so equipping her is | Weapon: Magic |
| not a problem at all. She instead attacks with powerful | |
| magic, and later in the game she becomes a devastating | |
| force. Her healing origin will also come in handy many | |
| times throughout the game. Of course, she does have some | |
| disadvantages. You need to learn what enemy is weak | |
| against what type of magic for her to be truly effective.| |
| However, once you do so, she is awesome. | |
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
| | KAZAN |
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
| Kazan used to be a noble and brave swordsman who was | Age: 60 |
| quite adept at sword attacks and special sword art | Height: 6'5" |
| skills. However, he suffered through a severe tragedy | Weight: 229 |
| that made him question the blade, so now he attacks with | Weapon: Fists |
| his fists instead. However, you will be quite glad he | |
| does so, because he is one of the best characters in the | |
| entire game. He's got great agility, and his art attacks | |
| are amazingly powerful. His magic is somewhat weak, but | |
| very useful because it is basically an added benefit to | |
| his impressive array of physical attacks. He is a wise | |
| person, a strong attacker, and a great character. | |
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
| | SHARON |
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
| Sharon is a normal character when you first meet her, | Age: 20 |
| but you will soon discover that she is the daughter of a | Height: 6'0" |
| well-known pirate. Her fighting style definitely shows | Weight: 132 |
| this, as she uses her saber with force and has an | Weapon: Saber |
| agility that is unrivaled by any other character in the | |
| game. In addition to the fact she can get off moves | |
| quickly, she gains a lot of art blocks, and has some | |
| powerful art attacks. Plus, her Arrode origin is thunder | |
| based and will prove to be quite useful many times | |
| throughout your journey. She is an outstanding character | |
| and is one of my favorites for boss fights. | |
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
| | AYNE |
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
| Ayne is the prototypical giant, slow, axe-wielding | Age: 23 |
| character of the game. So, you basically know what you | Height: 8'8" |
| are going to get if you decide to use him. A powerful | Weight: 643 |
| attacker, with no magic and a lack of any agility. He | Weapon: Axe |
| almost always attacks last, and his lack of art blocks | |
| was a really big concern for me throughout the entire | |
| game. However, he is an extremely powerful attacker who | |
| can use his limited art blocks to great lengths, doing | |
| more damage than any other character in the entire game. | |
| Plus, he has skills which let you upgrade statistics | |
| during battle. I never used him much, though. | |

+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+-+
+-------------------------------- [ 3.2 FAQ's ] -----------------------------+
+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+--+-+
Don't forget to email me with any questions if you have them. I am purely
guessing on these, and they might not be frequently asked after all.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1. Is this game a lot like Legend of Legaia?
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A: I already answered this in my review to a certain extent, but I will expand
on it now. This game is a lot like Legend of Legaia, but it has some
differences that keep it from being as classic and fun as the original. The
storyline is all new, as are the characters. The seru are now gone, replaced
with a boring origins system that you've seen a thousand times before. The
battle system remains largely the same, the only differences are the new art
attacks, and the new origins system. The big difference is the addition of
skills to each weapon, accessory, and armor, that you can learn and become a
kick ass fighting machine by the end of the game. Legaia 2 definitely feels
like more of a typical RPG than its predecessor.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2. Why the **** can't Maya fight?
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A: She can later on, you know. Just be patient for now. Once she is able to
regain her speaking, she can start using her magic to attack in battle.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
3. Why can't I use hyper arts yet?
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A: In order to use hyper arts, you first have to learn them, either from
books, or from leveling up other arts.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
4. How do I get the ultimate weapon?
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A: Have Lang get his "Master Blacksmith" nickname by combining items a good 30
or 40 times, then talk to Kenjiro in Derek's Haunt.

The start of the game may just be the most challenging part of the entire
game. I mean, seriously now, you don't know where you are or anything! Okay,
time to be serious. You start off the game as Lang in the Village of Nohl. You
are the newest addition to an elite group of soldiers called the Vigilance
Corps. As a big tough guy, you will start off the game by.. sleeping. A lot.
Well, who needs to be tough when it's nap time, right? Nancy, the keeper of
the house you are staying out, will finally wake you up. Good, it would have
sucked if the entire game consisted of you sleeping.
Check the dresser in the room to find a HEAL POWDER. Check the drawers in the
rooms to the right to get the POISON CURE and POINT CARD. The Point Card is
just as valuable as it was in the original Legend of Legaia, so definitely
make sure to pick it up. Leave the house and you will watch a scene where you
are introduced to Galvan, who after a short scene tells you to meet him at
Hunter's Woods. Before going to the Hunter's Wood, there's a few more things
to do. It's very important to stock up on some items, as you might as well be
a sitting duck without any way to heal yourself, so run over to the Item Shop
and pick up some supplies.
You'll even get a cool PEDOMETER after your first purchase. It keeps track of
the number of steps you have taken, which is something every role playing game
seems to do now for some reason. Challenge, maybe? There are some more items
to pick up in the town. The house to the west of the items shop has an EGG. To
get it, hop from an upper ledge on the roof of the house. The chicken will
drop an EGG, and you can also get a HEAL LEAF here. Now, go back to the house
you started off at and talk to Dein, who will give you the title of
Swordmaster. Cool. Learn some history of the town by going to the room to the
right hand side of the house. Hawk will teach you some valuable background
storyline information. There's a HEAL POTION in the Weapons Shop. Now, you are
done with the town, so go outside and head to Hunter's Wood.

When you enter the Hunter's Wood, Galvan will teach you a few things, then you
will automatically get into a battle. This is more of a tutorial than an
actual battle, and Galvan is a powerhouse at this point, so don't worry about
dying. Take the time to learn the basics of the combat system. Winning
automatically moves you from Level 1 to Level 2. Awesome. Go down some more
and you'll get into another tutorial battle, where you will now learn two new
arts, Blue Moon Buster and Sandstroke. Here's the other two you can learn:
----------------------------------------------
| Name | Buttons To Press | AP |
----------------------------------------------
| Hawk Stroke | L, D, D | +16 |
----------------------------------------------
| Blade Dance | D, L, L | +16 |
----------------------------------------------
Follow along the path after this easy battle. At the path, head to the upper
right and grab the FLAG OF RETREAT, then go back to the lower right. At the
next fork, go to the upper left again and you will see a few Klaw Ants. These
guys are not that bad, the thing to remember is to focus on using lower based
attacks because the Ants are low to the ground. After defeating them, collect
the HEAL POWDER along the path and go right to the next screen. Soon, you will
encounter another split in the road.
Go left, then down a few steps later, and engage in combat with a few more
fruity Klaw Ants. You know the deal, so take care of them. Galvan will then
say your journey is complete, so go right into the next screen. The exit to
Hunter's Wood houses Marcus, who is in a bad way. He must be rushed to town,
so Galvan takes him back to town and tells you to go back and find Dein in the
forest. So, continue along this path. When you get to the save point, go left
and get the HEAL POWDER, then come back and save. Proceed up, grabbing a FLAG
OF STAMINA, and soon you'll find Dein, who is being attacked by a monster.
Since Dein can't defend himself, it's up to you to defeat this hideous
creature!

| Above, you see the pretty impressive stats of this first boss. Now, |
| fighting him won't be the toughest thing you'll ever do, but he is still an|
| above average enemy. Make sure you are on level 5 or 6 before entering |
| this battle for an easier time, and also make sure you have learned all |
| your arts that you possibly can and you have the best weapons and armor |
| equipped. Once you do so, let's roll! He's very slow, but powerful. His |
| attacks are numerous. Each of his attacks do around 25-30 damage and will |
| throw Lang backwards. Healing is a must here so use those Heal Powders you |
| picked up throughout the Forest wisely. He starts off by doing 2 or 3 |
| attacks, but as you remove the Gather Crab's legs he suddenly does a lesser|
| amount of moves, however the 1 or 2 moves he do are of increased damage, so|
| be careful! |
| |
| What can you do to defeat him? Well, heal as necessary, and fire away using|
| Sandstorm as much as possible. If you had 100 AP entering this battle, you |
| can use it 6 times before needing to refuel your AP. If you need to refuel |
| your AP, do the Blue Moon Buster, which still does a decent amount of |
| damage to the Gather Crab. Once you eliminate both of his legs, the fun |
| trulystarts, as he pulls out a Poison/Barse combination. Poison inflicts |
| Poison status effect on Lang and Barse sends a Klaw Ant after you. Ignore |
| poison and Klaw Ant and continue hitting the Gather Crab with Sandstorm, |
| keeping your HP above 90. Winning this battle nets you a Maspergu Tube and |
| 500 EXP/Gold. Not bad, eh? Congratulations on surviving your first of many |
| boss battles in Duel Saga! |

After you defeat the Gather Crab, you will help Dein back to Nohl. Nancy will
tell you to go to sleep, so do so. You will have this weird dream where a
village is on fire and Lang is being chased away by all the townkeepers. This
is one of my favorite scenes in the game. I love it, and it will be wise for
you to remember this scene later. When you wake up, you will discover that a
dumbass an into the Hunter's Wood and got royally whooped up. So, you will be
the next dumbass by going to get him. Before you go, you might want to upgrade
your weapons and armor with all that money you got through your first time in
Hunter's Wood. Buy what you can afford, take some healing items along, and
proceed back to the Hunter's Wood.
Back in Hunter's Wood (OMG THIS PLACE SEEMS FAMILAR DOESNT IT), it's now
raining, so the enemies might be tougher. Or not. Wow, this is SO not a
typical RPG now, seriously. At the first split, go to the bottom right, then
at the second split, go to the upper right. You will soon get to where Galvan
is, and at that point you will encounter a very important scene for the first
time..... Just kidding. First, you meet up with some loser who got disposed
of. You have to walk farther into the Woods this time, punk! when you get to
the save point, save. Or not. It doesn't matter, as this guy is going to just
whoop your ass anyways. Oops, that's a spoiler. Move along the path and
eventually you will get to the first important scene, I promise.
You will see Galvan being levitated off the ground, and then a man with golden
eyes will enter the screen. You'll have to fight him, but this is THE ALMIGHTY
BATTLE YOU CANNOT WIN, so you can't win. It's fun to use a gameshark and try
to win, I'm sure, for all you cheaters out there. I'm sure he has unlimited HP
anyways. BTW, 500 dollars to anyone who tells me the name of this song, even
though I probably already know it. I'm too lazy to go back and play to this
part of the game, and I remember loving the song and can't find it on the
soundtrack. I think it's Disc 1, Track 6, but I'm not positive.
ANYWAYYYYYYS he'll use an Origin power on you and knock you silly for the next
week. When you wake up, you'll be somewhere in Africa. Or back in Nohl.
Whatever works. The Gay Guy With Golden Eyes stole the Aqualith, which is the
thing that was holding the town together, so now Lang promises to seek revenge
on The Gay Guy With Golden Eyes and sets off to Gale Canyon. The adventure
begins..

When you enter here, you will meet Marienne and Elliot for the first time. The
storyline here is pretty neat, as these two will be on your case for a lot of
the game. I liked them. Anyways, here, you will see them . Accompanying them
on this trip are a savage brute named Bubba and a monkey-type thing named
Elfin. This game is weirdly hardcore, man. When you enter the Gale Canyon and
are able to move, grab the PICKPOCKET CHARM, which is a cool accessory that
allows you to steal items from enemies. The next area has a MAGIC POTION for
you to grab.
Go right and up the mountain to get a SCROLL OF IDENTITY, then go all the way
west to get a POISON CURE, then go back, and north at the split. Here, go
right, and head up the small hill. Follow the path, then go left for the GUARD
OIL. Ignore the big rock, and follow the path. Soon, you will run into a Lyps,
but I wouldn't worry about him. He's just going to run from you anyways. Keep
going right, then you will see this hole. Follow the path, picking up a well
hidden ALMA IRON ORE along the way, save. Make sure Lang is on Level 9, and
soon you will have to fight another boss. Make sure to have learned this
before or during battle:

| Elfin is a little annoying, but overall he is not as bad as you might |
| expect. As you may have guessed by looking at him, he is strong as hell, |
| but he is slow and has no magic attacks to worry about. That doesn't mean |
| he is an easy boss, however, as he has high strength, HP, and defense, and |
| he hits HARD. It helps tremendously if you have a few Heal Leafs and |
| Potions and make sure to come in on Level 9 or above so you can gain the |
| Thunder Flash skill, as well as some super arts. Start off by doing a Super|
| Art a few times... True Moon Slash works well. Refill your AP by doing |
| ThunderFlash. This is the best way to defeat him easily. Ho ho, but he will|
| start to charge his spirit, so guard next round or he might kill you, he'll|
| do around 400 damage alone even if you guarded. Heal up for a few rounds, |
| then go back to the attack. He'll die soon enough. |

Watch a story scene, where you will be beaten up, and then you will be taken
to a prison cell, where you will collapse. This is the obligatory prison
scene, featured in more RPGs than you think. You will meet up with Maya here
for the first time, and she will join your party. And no, she can't do shit
but guard and heal you, but it's almost as good as having one. I'll explain to
you why one is better than two: you have to worry about her ass now. Anyways,
check the crack in the wall, and after 3 examines of the door, Lang will bash
his way through it. Cool. Go right, down the stairs, and go down through the
1st door to pick up all of Lang's equipment.
Go through the north passage and drink the thing closest to the door to get
full HP and MP if you need it. Leave this room now. You will engage battle
with a couple of Doplin Soldiers, but they are easy, so wipe the floor with
them. Now, go left, and the door will be open. Get the JAB CHARM from the room
to the south, and the LEAF OF STAMINA and HEAL LEAF from the chests in the
room to the north. Awesome! Go left into the next room. Here, you will have to
out-think some dumb witted soldiers, as per RPG prison cell rules.
You can pick up three chests in here, a HEAL POWDER, BRONZE BAROME, and
ICENEEDLE SCROLL. The way to get through here is very simple, as the guards
barely turn around, so just avoid them and move to the next section. Here, go
all the way to the room to the left to get a DOPLIN LUNCH, then go out and
down the stairs. Save your game and get the ZONARK WEED. Move north until you
eventually get to the cathedral, host of your next boss fight.

| They don't call this man Mighty for nothing. He has a powerful range of |
| attacks. Rage Wind does a terrifying amount of damage to both members of |
| your party, especially Maya, who at this point has weaker armor than Lang. |
| Also, Balken's normal attacks really hurt, as well, although they only |
| focus on one person and do less damage than Rage Wind does usually. |
| Fortunately for you as well, he is slow and can only attack you once per |
| battle turn. Sadly, Balken might just be at the bottom of your lists of |
| concerns, as the drawbridge slowly starts to come down during the battle, |
| and if you do not kill Balken in time, the battle will end and it will be |
| game over. This is not good news! So, not only will you need Maya to heal |
| you almost every freaking round, but you must also have Lang do his most |
| powerful moves possible without wasting too much AP. Fortunately, this is |
| not as bad as you may think, even his basic art attacks do decent amounts |
| of damage. I recommend either doing Battle Flash or a combo of Blade |
| Dance/Hawk Stroke for an easier time of things, or just use your super arts|
| for a quick win. Winning this fairly tough battle nets you 2,500 EXP and |

Isn't it cool how you have an Origin now? Use it by pressing L2 while Lang is
on the screen, and Galea will come in and destroy that neat boulder. Maya will
join you, and now you have three characters in your party. Maya can use her
origins to make vines grow. Keep that in mind as we progress through this
place. The path will split as soon as you enter. Move left, and jump across
the platform. Use Lang's origin to smash the boulder. Go north a little and
you will find a tunnel on the west hand side, containing a MAGIC POWDER in the
chest.
Go back to the pathway and go through the doors. Destroy all the boulders on
the left hand side and then push the switch and the doors will open. Go
through the doors and follow the passage through. When you get to the path, go
up, and then follow it to the base. Go right and you will get to a dead end.
Climb the hanging vines to pick up a HEAVEN'S GATE. Climb back down and head
right. Go up at the split to get a HELL'S PATH, then use Kazan's Origin to
smash the mound upwards to get a ATTACK BOTTLE and JEDO METAL. Go back down
and head to the split in the path, and go right this time. Here, eventually,
you'll reach a lair with Galdukes in them. Move right, plowing through them,
and eventually you'll find the switch that opens the doors.
Now, go down through the doors. Go left at the split to get the REVIVAL
ELIXIR, then go back right and jump across the stones to get the LEAF OF
APPEAL, then jump to the right. Follow the path and you will soon be at a
vine, but first use Lang's origin power to light up the wall, and behind it
you get a ATTACK OIL, then go through the southern branch of the tunnel. Soon,
you will be in a room with a tablet. Read the tablet, then use Lang's origin
power to light up the thing in the center of the room, then press the switch
on the left hand side of the room. What a tough puzzle!
Go through the doors to the south. Follow the path some more, then go down
some more vines (use Lang's power to get a AVARICE JEWEL), and you will be at
another split in the path. Go left, and you will be in another puzzle room.
Read the tablet, light up the left most thing, and then read the tablet again.
The door will open. In the next chamber, you will finally get the RAGING FANG
scroll for Lang, which is his first hyper art. Go down, then left, and you
will be back at the entrance!

Return to Mt. Gabel and you will watch a story scene where Kazan agrees to
sell his possessions in order to officially join your party. One thing I never
understood about RPGs is how they always make it seem like your party is broke
when I'm over here getting tons of money from whooping ass in battles. It's
sorta like how a kid can get halfway into a forest I can barely survive.
Go back to Darakin Citadel, but destroy the boulder at the end of Mt. Gabel
first to get some items. Back in Darakin Citadel, buy some new stuff, and then
go to the hotel, but first pick up an EMBLEM OF NOBILITY from the junk pile in
Darakin. Outside the hotel, the ladies will tell you that smells are coming
from the suites in the hotel. Check the hole next to the tub in the lower
portions of the hotel's 1st floor and you will be in the sewers. Note, for
these sewers, this is a CONFUSING place. I will tell you how to get out of
here. I cannot tell you how to get all the chests. A good explorer will be
able to find all of them easily anyways, as most of them are pretty wide open.
It would be very tough for me to make a map indicating where every item was.
If you need help with geting any item, do not hesitate to email me. Thanks. Go
down, then go left without going down the stairs. Jump across the platform
over the ooze. This is SO like Ghostbusters. Go right across a bridge. You
will soon be at a new screen. Go down the stairway, then go left, and climb
the staircase to the south. Move along the path and you will get to a room
with crates.
Destroy the crates using Lang's origin power to get a RED GATE KEY. Now, go
back out, noting you can get a MAIDEN'S HEART around here. Now, go back to the
previous screen. Here, go down at the split, then go through a door, then go
south and west to another metal door. Use the Red Gate Key and the door will
open. Push the lever you see in the room and now this room will have no more
ooze. Exit the room, and follow the path north and west. You will get to a
dead end, so go north. Grab the LEAF OF STAMINA, then Go right and at the end
of this path you will get a valuable OLD MAP. It helped me significantly in
the writing of this section. Go back left, then down a little, and left again,
and you will be in another section of the sewers. Follow the path, collecting
an item at the end, then jumping over the passage, then go south, then left.
Go up, then left. Man, this is starting to piss me off. At the end, you
finally get the WAY OF RAGE, if you didn't get lost with my shitty directions.
Bah, sorry. I'm tired. Go down and enter the room. Use Lang's origin powers to
destroy the crate and get the HEAL LEAF. Backtrack to the beginning of the
sewers with those two platforms. Now, go south this time. Go down the stairs,
and climb up the stairs directly to the east. There's a STUN CURE to the
north, but to the south you can enter a room which contains the BLUE GATE KEY
behind the crates. Go back up to the other section of the place. Return to the
pair of platforms and go east. Jump across the passage here, then wind east
and south.
Go right and then climb down the second staircase. Follow the path right, then
down, and the canal will soon dead end. Take the staircase to the east and you
Will see some green moss. Follow this landing down, and move west across the
bridge. At the split, go down and get the REVIVAL ELIXIR, then go back up and
head left. Here, follow the path, smashing crates as you move along. You will
soon be in a new part of the sewers. You will soon get to a Blue Door, which
you can open with the key, then press the switch. Use the campsite to save and
stuff. This will be a good place to level up if you wish.
Now, go north into the canal. In the canal, go up and climb up the staircase.
Go inside the room and throw the switch, which raises locks in this room.
Return to the canals and you will be at a 3 way split. Go left to get a BRONZE
BAROME first, then come back and go right this time. You will soon get to
another fork in the path. Take the path to the left, then climb the staircase
to the right to reach a higher platform. Open the locked door, then climb down
the staircase. Go left and then up, and go up the staircase at the end. Go
through the metal door, and use Maya's origin power in the room to reveal the
Yellow Gate Key. Now, go all the way back to the campsite. Save, then go to
the canal next to the blue lock. Take the staircase to the left, then go down,
into the southernmost walkway. You will get to a dead end, but a Yellow Gate
is here! Unlock it, and pull the switch. Use a pair of floating crates near
the lock to move left, then continue along the path through a metal door.
Use the ladder to get back to the surface. This will save you hours later on
in the game. :) Go back down, then blast the middle of the wall using Lang's
origin power. OMG WE ARE DONE THE SEWERS. I RETIRE. THANK YOU

Kabel Ruins is another tough place to map out, as there are lots of puzzles
and other unique things to figure out in here. Plus, the directions are kind
of tough. I will try my best, however. Enter the ruins, and then proceed
through the doorway, where you end up with your first puzzle. All you have to
do here is to use Maya's origin power to light up the only remaining lamp that
isn't lit up yet. The door opens, and you can move onto the next room.
You will come to a three-way split in the path, but the only direction you can
go in for now is west. Do so, and use Lang's fire origin to slam through the
broken-down wall. You will soon come to another intersection. Go all the way
west, then north, and you will pick up an ICENEEDLE SCROLL. Now, backtrack and
head north.
There are two puzzles in here, and they're pretty easy to figure out. First,
use Maya's origin power to light up the urn to the east. This opens up a door
to a room that contains the SLICINGWIND SCROLL. Backtrack to the two lamps,
use Lang's power to extinguish one, then have Maya light the other one up with
her origin, which opens a room that contains the STONECRUSH SCROLL. Use Lang's
power to remove the flame from the lamp, which lets you escape this room.
Now, go east until you can't go east any more, then go south, and east at the
first intersection. Now, go south, east, and north. You will soon encounter a
room, where all Lang has to do is light a torch up. This enables you to pick
up a CAMPING KIT and ATTACK BOOSTER. Now, go back down south, left, up, left,
up, left, and up into this room. That was fun.
Pick up the ADVENTURER'S LOG 1 here, which gives you a clue, but it's not like
you need it, due to the fact you're using this wonderful guide. The letters in
the log say: F, I, S, H, so light the torches in that order and you are free
to proceed to the next room. There, that puzzle wasn't so bad, now was it?
Now, go east in this room, then north, and step on a switch in the room to the
left of this, which opens the room you saw previously. Enter that room to pick
up a SAGE'S HANDBOOK. Now, go out of here, and head left, ignoring some rooms
until you see a wall that can be smashed using Lang's powers. Take the stone
lift up, and get a FLAG OF RETREAT and BOLTSTRIKE SCROLL.
Take the next one up, as well, then go left and up. Here, you will have to
solve a puzzle, but it's rather simple. Have Maya light up the bottom one, and
Lang extinguish the top one. Save your game at the campsite, cooking up some
Kazan Curry if you wish, and we're ready to roll, as there's a boss battle in
the next room.

| This battle is actually very simple to figure out. It's also home to an |
| important plot element. The key to winning this battle is simply to |
| survive early. Keep healed, and keep doing your strongest art attacks. |
| Maya is knocked out, so you only have Lang and Kazan to work with here. |
| Fortunately, it's not too bad to survive here early on, and soon enough, |
| something major will happen. |
| |
| Maya will suddenly arise, and start talking, then she'll shoot a huge magic|
| ball at the enemy. Now that she can use magic, it becomes much easier to |
| win this battle. Have her do basic magic on it (UURU and URR work best), |
| while Kazan and Lang follow up with their best physical attacks. Heal as |
| needed, and Slogar will go down quicker than you may expect. |
^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=^=
Now, you can go back to the campsite and rest up if you wish, otherwise go
north. Maya can now use magic during battle, and the game becomes a lot more
fun now. Make sure to pick up all of her basic moves now, and this is also an
excellent time to level up a little. When you're ready to go, move north, and
then go north into the room, which contains a CAMPING KIT and an ANCIENT
WRITINGS.
Exit this room, go west, ignoring the first room, then go south until you get
to a room with a bunch of statues. Have Lang's origin smash them all up, and
then smash the wall above the pedestal. Collect the REVIVAL ELIXIR after
smashing up some more statues. Proceed back to the previous path and go all
the way north.
Here, light the torches in this order: northeast, southwest, southeast. You
will now have the ADVENTURER'S LOG 2. Go back to the room to the left of where
you got the Ancient Writings. Light the torches in this order using Maya's
origin power: yellow, indigo, red, green. We're making progress now, we're
almost done, I promise.
Go north of here to pick up the ADVENTURER'S LOG 3, then exit the room and go
right. Check Log 3's hint to figure out this clock puzzle, or just use these
directions. Have Maya light up 7:00, then 3:00, then 5:00, then 2:00. Get the
PLAGUE CURE and GOLD KEY in here. The gold key is what you need to get out of
here, yay. Go up and exit to Doplin's Castle.

In the castle, you will arrive on the lowest level. Keep moving until you get
to the place where you fought Balkan before. Keep moving through here,
fighting easy battles with Doplin soldiers. It shouldn't take more than a
round or two to kill all of them. Don't worry about using anything special,
conventional attacks will do fine. Go to the upper level of the north side and
continue onwards.
Here, there is a long hallway, with three directions to go in. To the left is
a new recipe that you can pick up. PRINCESS CAKE is not a very good dish at
all, and I don't recommend using it much, but it's still good to have if
you're a collection freak and want to have all the recipes in the game. The
room to the right has a PREHISTORIC STUDY. Now, move north.
You will be in a familiar-looking area, and the brother of Mighty Balken will
confront you. His name is Raynof the Brave, and as you may expect, he is not
terribly happy with your team of characters that beat Balken earlier. He seeks

| You won't be able to do any damage to the beast early on. Everything you |
| perform will do 0 damage, so don't bother wasting any AP. Instead, try to |
| build your AP up, as well as defense. Use some defense-boosting items, as |
| well as Kazan's Earth Protector origin. This defense boost will come in |

| |
| Make sure to heal up during the fourth turn, because that's when things |

| damage. |
| |
| Once she lets off his powerful attack, Zoan Stoara is weakened, and the |

| no one needs to be healed, but she needs to be used primarily as a healer. |
| |
| This is because Zoan Stoara hits you for lots of damage each around. Each |

Return to Nohl by simply passing through Darakin Citadel. In here, go to the
kitchen of Chez Snobbe to pick up three awesome recipes. When you return to
Nohl, Lang will be welcomed by the community, as he finally returned the
Aqualith, returning peace and tranquility to the town. The Aqualith will be
secured, and everyone will offer their thanks to Lang. When you can control
him, go north to the house you started off the game at.
Galvan and Nancy will be here, waiting for you. Nancy will continue to offer
thanks, while Galvan challenges you to a drinking contest. Maya will help
prepare the dinner celebration meal with Nancy, while the men start their
drinking. Now's an excellent time to take a nap. (Too bad you'll end up waking
up with a hangover..) When you wake up, go outside, and Galvan says it's time
to go to Hunter's Wood.
When you get into Hunter's Wood, follow the path until you get to the area
where you fought the bosses before. A Saberwulf will attack the team, and
Galvan will teach Lang a new art move, Divine Bolt. It's an excellent move,
but it costs 40 AP to use, so only use it when you have to. Also, now would be
a great time to build up all of Maya's moves, as well.
Once you kill the Saberwulf, Galvan will brag about his latest victory, when
suddenly.. the sky darkens, and clouds and other eerie things start to appear
in the sky. The darkness suddenly invades Hunter's Wood, waking up the enemies
Galvan just slain. They also appear to be quite deformed and nasty looking.
Just like Cujo, these guys are now harder to kill.
The enemies will now be significantly tougher than they were before, so
hopefully you leveled up a little before now. If not, origins and defense are
your best bet. Just don't go out with an attacking mindset, because the
enemies will beat the crap out of you if you are not careful. People complain
about the challenge level suddenly increasing here with no warning, and I
actually agree it's a valid complaint. Oh well.
Run back to town. Once you return, the townspeople will be horrified at the
news that Hunter's Wood is now being invaded by darkness. Return to Galvan's
house, and talk with the captain. He will explain what happened and will offer
some advice. He explains that Avalon is using the remainder of the Sacred
Azure Stones to create a darkness.
Move outside, and Maya suggests visiting a spirit named Reym, who may know how
to stop this prophecy and to restore the world to peace, before the darkness
engulfs it. The next goal is the town of Yuno. However, you have to pass
through the Forest Maze to get there. Now, she explains that there's no way to
get through the Forest Maze without Nizel Red Sand. Kazan luckily has some at
this house, though, so it's time to return to Mt. Gabel.

Once you set foot on Mt. Gabel and get into your first battle, you will notice
that the battles have also proceeded to get a lot more challenging up here.
Make sure to stay healed up at all times, and perform your strongest moves
that you possibly can. I always like to do an art move, followed by a super
art move that takes up the AP you gained from the original art. Works very
effectively, and AP doesn't carry over between battles.
Once you return to Kazan's home, Kazan will enter the house to pick up some
Nizel Red Sand. However, it turns out that his house has been completely
looted! Looks like we have some thieves to take care of here! Fortunately,
Kazan remembers that he told a local merchant, named Kenjiro, that he could
take whatever he wanted when Kazan left Mt. Gabel.
The guy is found in Darakin Citadel, so let's go back there now. When you get
there, he will be in the upper left hand corner of the first screen, behind
the garbage pile (which contains that ladder to the sewers). He has the Nizel
Red Sand, but he demands a Lyps Tear in return for it. Goddamn fat piece of
crap! He'll sell you some Blowfish Weed, which helps lure our Lyps, but you
have to fight one and capture the Tear from it.
I would recommend buying a bunch of Blowfish Weed. Each Lyps Tear you fight is
worth 3,500 EXP and 10,000 Gold, which is a pretty sum of money. However, you
only need one now. Go to Gale Canyon, and use the Blowfish Weed. After a few
fights, the Lyps King will show up. Make sure to take it out before it runs
away. You only get a round or two, so pull out your strongest attacks on it.
Once you win, you get the Lyps Tear. Bring it back to Kenjiro, and it's onto
Forest Maze now!
There are two excellent ways to level up here. One is by having Kazan use his
origin powers every round. This usually takes out every enemy, and makes for
quick and painless battles. I got to about Level 60 just by doing this, that's
how easy it can be. The other advice is by using a Blowfish Weed, as Lyps and
Lyps Kings will come out every once in a while.
Your first battle will be a test on how to perform variable arts. These moves
are extremely awesome and powerful, but they require both characters to be at
100 AP. Move up the path, moving a little to the right to pick up an ATTACK
OIL. At the split in the path, go right to get a SILVER BAROME from the chest.
Now, go back to the split and go left for a REVIVAL ELIXIR, then keep going
left until you reach the next screen.
Keep following the path, using Lang's origin power to knock over a tree along
the way, to pick up a BONUS BANGLE from the chest at the end of the path. Go
back to the original split, and move north to the next screen. Then, go right
at the following intersection. Get an ANGEL'S BLESSING and SPELL OF WATER from
the chests in this area. Go over the log, then head east. Use Lang's power on
the tree to fight a secret boss in this area!

| it could be the end of you. The Gold Beetle also does a nasty Poison Spit |
| attack, which does a decent amount of physical attack power, but also adds |

some sort of weird dance. This game is WEIRD. Return to Maya's house to relax

In the morning, use the northwestern exit here and follow the path to meet

brought peril to the land. Avalon is now looking for three sacred stones of
creation, and once he gets those, he will become the evil ruler and will be
able to twist the world into his own shape. Reym reveals only two people can
use these stones, as they were created just to use them.. Avalon and Lang.
Well, color me shocked!
The party now decides to go to Nohl, so do so. Once you get there, go to the
top house and speak with Hawke. Lang explains to him that he needs the
Aqualith, so the villagers decide to give it to Lang. Now, exit the town to
cue a discussion. Maya thinks that the Pyrolith is in Drokonia, but you have

Kravia, so that's your next destination.
However, once you get there, it turns out you need a pass to get through. No
worries. Return to the Green Lynx Inn in Darakin Citadel, and you will
encounter a feisty blonde woman shouting at a man named Joe. She says she can

Once you take the ladder behind the Junk Shop in Darakin Citadel, you will be
in the entrance to Kabel Ruins. Once you enter, Sharon will trigger a Thunder
Switch, and you will have a new part of the Kabel Ruins exposed for you to
explore. Cross the platform, go down the stairs, then go right and up into a
room to pick up the PRISON KEY. Go left, then up, then go left to the second
room.
In this room, have Maya's origin light up both of the torches. Go north, and
then at the next intersection, keep going north. From left to right, step on
the switches in this order: 4, 1, 3. Once you do so, you will pick up an
EXLORER'S NOTES 1, as well as a QUICK ESCAPE CHARM. You see those crates in
the corner? Use Lang's origin to flame them up, behind them is a RESTORE
POTION.
Leave this room, then go left, then up, destroying walls and statues using
Lang's origin along the way. You will soon encounter a stone statue and a
chest - the chest has a FRUIT OF DEFIANCE IN IT, but you have to fight a Bone
Warrior. He's easy, though, so take care of him in a hurry. Now, go all the
way, down, left, and up for a POWER NECKLACE. Now, go back to the room with
the two torches. Light them out, then go south. Have Maya's origin light up
the torches that have letters not found in the word Snake. Simple stuff here.
Yay, done our first puzzle up in here. Still got a long way to go, though, you
know how these dungeons in this game can be. Go right, then north, then step
on the switch to the left to pick up a PARALYSIS DRAUGHT. Step on the switch
to the far left, then go back to the room with three switches. Step on the
switches in this order: right, far right, left, right. Another switch will
appear. Step on it to get a DREAM NECKLACE and SPELL OF EARTH.
Now, leave these rooms and take the lift you saw earlier downwards. Sharon
will take care of the switch in here, so no worries there. Go north and take
the lift up to the next area. Go north for a BLIND CURE, then exit the room.
Go left and up to a following room. Just have Lang's origin hit the 3rd torch
from the top, while Maya's hits the 2nd one. Camp site is in the next room,
yay.
Keep going up, then left, ignoring two rooms, then in the third room, have
Maya's origin light torches in this order: top right, bottom left, bottom
right, top left. You will get a CAMPING KIT and the EXPLORER'S NOTES 2 for
your efforts. Now, exit this room and enter the room to the right. Have Maya's
origin light torches in this order: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo
and violet.
Go up, left, and have Sharon's origin shoot the Thunder Switch. Proceed along
the lift, then go up. Have Lang's origin punch the middle stack of crates
twice, then the right stack of crates once. You will get the EXPLORER'S NOTES
3 for doing so.
When you leave this room, you will see 5 candles on the wall. Having Lang's
origin light these candles trigger fights with relatively difficult enemies
named Inferno. They have a lot of HP, but they are not terribly powerful and
pose no serious threat to a well-prepared party. I recommend killing all 5, as
they give great amounts of experience and gold. It's up to you. Pick up the
RAW ALEXANDRITE while you're in here, then go back down the lift.
Head all the way east, into another puzzle room. Have Maya light 8:00, Lang
extinguish 4:00, Maya light 7:00, Maya light 3:00, Lang extinguish 8:00, Maya
light 1:00, Maya light 5:00, and Lang extinguish 12:00. These puzzles aren't
too bad, thanks to the Explorer's Notes. In the next room, have Sharon hit the
Thunder Switch to raise a lift, then cross it and head left. Go down, and
enter another puzzle room.
This one is pretty easy, though, even by first dungeon standards. Have Maya
light the bottom and right torches, then have Lang extinguish the torch to the
right. Simple. You will get a FRUIT OF STAMINA for doing so. Go back two
screens, then go left, have Sharon hit a Thunder Switch, then go left and get
a BOOK OF FEAR, SHADOWLURK SCROLL, REVIVAL BOTTLE, and BEWITCH CURE.
Go back out, then head back across the raised platform, go up, and you will be
back in Doplin Castle. At last, another nightmare to write about is finally
over. I need a vacation.

Wow, we're back in Doplin Castle again for like the 43rd time in the game. I
understand the game wanted to have a central focus, but damn, do we REALLY
have to go through Kabel Ruins and Doplin Castle multiple times? Oh well, the
storyline will progress here, so it's all good.
There are new enemies in the castle now, but none of them are terribly tough.
They're like the soldiers you faced earlier, except for their new look and the
fact that they're slightly stronger. Gold Warriors are the only moderately
tough ones, due to the fact they like to block attacks a lot. This makes them
more frustrating than anything else, though.
When you enter the castle, move the usual way until you get to the drawbridge
switch, then head to the double doors north of it. They were locked until this
point in the game, but now.. they are unlocked. The plot thickens! Keep
walking and soon you will meet up with the new bishop of Doplin... Bubba!?!
Bubba will turn around, and he will recognize Lang as the dude who beat up on
Elfin earlier in the game. As you may expect, Bubba is not happy at all about
this, and he challenges the party to a fight.

| If you see a list of Bubba's specials above, you will see he has a bunch |
| of them. This makes the battle fairly interesting, but still not terribly |
| challenging. Dancing Revolver is a normal physical attack that does a |
| decent amount of damage to your party. Burning Soul allows him to charge |
| up his AP for the next turn. Lonely Armor raises his defense for the |
| entire battle. Final Bullet raises his attack power, Violet 7 raises his |
| magic power, and Memory helps him recover some HP. |
| |
| The good news about this battle is that he has to charge for a turn before |
| doing the Dancing Revolver attack, so the key here is to have your party |
| defend the turn after he does the Burning Soul move, and you will really |
| have no chance of losing this battle. The Dancing Revolver attack will do |
| a lot of damage (over 2,000), especially after he charges up his attack |
| power with Final Bullet before hand. |
| |
| I recommend using Lang, Kazan, and Maya for this battle. Have Maya be the |
| healer, or otherwise have her guard. Lang and Kazan should save up their |
| AP to do a Variable Art, and then start doing their normal arts and super |
| combination attacks. One Variable Art should take at least 60 percent of |
| Bubba's HP off right off the bat, so this battle is more about surviving |
| until you are able to do the Variable Art than anything else. |
| |
| You may even want to save up to do another Variable Art, because Bubba is |
| very good at blocking your combos and art moves. He blocks at least 40 |
| percent of all your attacks, which becomes incredibly frustrating, |
| especially when you are trying to save up AP, and then you finally get |
| enough, only to get blocked. He also has a high amount of defense, so |
| expect a drawn-out battle if you don't finish him off with another |
| variable art. |

Once Bubba is defeated, he will stagger away, leaving behind the KRAVIAN PASS
that you were looking for. Time to go back to Kravia!

Now that you have the Kravia pass, you can explore the town. Sharon decides to
permanently join your party, which is just great. Now that you are in the
town, you can go exploring. There's lots of things to do here. Pick up new
weapons and armor, and make sure to talk to everyone in town. Pick up the
ANGEL'S MIRACLE, REVIVAL BOTTLE, and MAGIC KIT in the equipment shop. You can
also get the HAMBURGER STEAK recipe in the Belisia.
The place directly to the right of the entrance is the Hunter's Guild. I
provide information on each quest in the side quests section below, but here
is a basic overview. Your party can accept quests, which involve everything
from fighting enemies in areas you've been to before, to rescuing cats. Each
quest rewards you with Gold and a rare item, and once you do all the quests,
you get a HEAVEN'S SECRET, which helps you combine an ultimate weapon or
armor.
Leave through the southern exit, and you will encounter a scene where Lang
suddenly stops and realizes that Kravia is the town he keeps dreaming about.
This is the place where Avalon, as a young man, was hunted and almost killed.
Wow, finally an interesting plot turn.. time to go to Tanza!
In Tanza, the party will discover that their worst fears came true: the town
is completely flooded, and is pretty much destroyed. This is really not good,
at all. They will be upset, then some sailors save the day by informing the
party of a place called Derek's Haunt, which has a ship that can take them to
Drokonia. Time to go buy stuff from all the shops, which nets you a POPULAR
EDO DISHES recipe, and the WIND HANDLE STAFF.
You can try a mini game, but it's so hard. You have to push a 5-button
combination over and over, and it will be very hard to defeat. Try it out if
you want, though. The guy moves super fast, and planting all your rice before
he does will prove to be near impossible. It literally took me days to do so.
Now,
