Foreword [PFOREWORD]

Of all the games I enjoy, Dark Cloud seems to be the one that is most
lacking in a complete, coherent guide. That's what this is for, of course.
Hopefully, it will be helpful to somebody besides myself.

Frequently Asked Questions [PFAQ]
==--
These questions get asked a lot. If you just have a passing question,
odds are that it's answered here.
Q. Do I need to play the first Dark Cloud to understand this one?
A. The two are not very close at all. Though a few references are made
between the games, you don't need to play DC1 to understand DC2 in any way.
Q. What's changed from Dark Cloud 1?
A. The thirst meter was removed, for starters. Broken weapons no longer
simply dissappear. There is no duel system. Georama is more flexible and
open-ended, allowing you to decide exactly what buildings are put where in
it. The inventory is much larger, and there are no storage facilities for
excess items. There are only two playable characters, each with a second
form, making for four possible ways to battle. There are no character-
specific dungeon puzzles. There are only 3 types of Limited Zones, which
are referred to as Seals now (Max only, Monica only, no healing). Those
are the most significant gameplay changes.
Q. How long is this game?
A. That depends on how you play it. If you really rush and go through the
game at top speed, you could win in under 30 hours (especially if you chose
to skip all cutscenes). But odds are that the game will take closer to 60
hours to complete, possibly more if you branch out and explore the game's
minigames and sidequests.
Q. The game locked up! The screen's white and says Now Loading! Now what?
A. Try pressing L3 and R3. If, after a few tries, that doesn't work,
reset the system and redo Battle with Rats (this bug only happens when
entering the level Ghost in the Channel).
Q. How do I choose what element my weapon uses?
A. You don't, because you don't need to. Your weapon attacks with each and
every element on it simultaneously. Since no enemy absorbs any element,
this means that you can only benefit from adding more elements to your
weapon, in the long run.
Q. How do I recruit people?
A. First, get the Geostone from the level Legendary Killer Snake. Next, go
to Sindain and enter Carpenterion with Select. Press Triangle to bring up
the Carpenterion controls. Press O to get out of this menu once the
Geostone(s) download, then press Select to return to the ground. After the
short cutscene, you can recruit Gordon, and once you've recruited him, you
can recruit the rest.
Q. I reached the end of Rainbow Butterfly Wood, but where's the boss?
A. Finish up as much Georama work as you can in Sindain, then visit Jurak a
few times. The story sequences will explain what you need to do. Also, if
you've skipped any Geostones, go back and get them, and work on the Georama
until you've fulfilled every known requirement. You cannot skip the
Georama aspect of this game.
Q. How do I go down the star paths in the dungeons?
A. You can't, until chapter 6. You wouldn't want to until then, anyway;
the enemies on those paths are very powerful.
Q. What are the best weapons for Max and Monica?
A. That depends on your tactics. For ranged weapons, the best for Max is
Supernova, and the best for Monica is Five-Star Armlet. For melee weapons,
Max's LEGEND is best for sheer power, while Grade Zero is best for speed.
Monica's Island King is the most powerful sword, but Dark Cloud has better
speed, as does Griffon Fork.
Q. How should I power up weapons?
A. The best way to do so and retain your sanity is to only Synth other
weapons onto your main weapon. Use the weapons you get in dungeons as
fodder to power them up, by getting those weapons to +5, powering up the
stats you're most interested in, then Synthesizing them onto your main
weapon itself.
Q. Where can I get a lot of Gilda?
A. There's a few ways to go about this. If you're patient, you can put
Need in the party (he gives a 20% Gilda bonus when fighting enemies). If
you want cash quickly, you can have Erik make you 6 Improved Bombs, and
then sell them. Later, you can invent and sell Turkeys (which cost 90
Gilda to build and sell for 230 Gilda). Once you've recruited Olivie, you
can use the Lure glitch to get as much money as you want. For info on the
Lure glitch, see the Glitches and Exploits section. One last means of
making Gilda, if you're in a later chapter and have used the Ridepod
exclusively, is to buy and sell Samurai Arms from Cedric with the excess
Exp that Steve as accrued.
Q. Where can I get lures?
A. In chapter 4, after Finny Frenzy is announced, talk to Olivie (she's in
the square near City Hall). Enter and win the beginners class Finny
Frenzy (you have to get first place, obviously), and talk to her again.
She sells lures.
Q. What's the reward for collecting medals, anyway?
A. You can trade them with Mayor Need for various clothing items and Name-
Change Tickets. That's it, though.
Q. What are Max and Monica's maximum stats?
A. HP can go up to 255, though if you distribute HP evenly, they'll max out
at 248 each. There's enough defense items in the game to give each 112
defense, but you cannot split those points between them as you like.
Q. Why are Monster Transformations so weak?
A. No idea. They were probably a last-minute addition that they didn't
bother to work the kinks out of. Whatever the case, the transformations
are never worth the trouble of mastering. Just get a Gemron up to level 51
or so, and you should be able to handle all of the Monster Transformation
only clear goals.
Q. Do monster badges have to be gotten from specific enemies?
A. No, any variant of a given enemy will do. So you could, for example,
get a Beast badge from a Beach Rat or Castle Eater, as well as a Sewer Rat.
Q. What's the easiest way to get through the game?
A. Focus on using the Ridepod exclusively, upgrading its core and parts on
a regular basis. You'll want to invent most of the stuff it uses yourself,
since Cedric doesn't sell most of the useful stuff. Doing this, you can
reach the end of the game within 30 hours, no problem.

II. Walkthrough
=-=-=
First, a brief explanation of the system used here. Each chapter has an
overview (except for the prologue, of course), which lists the goals of the
chapter, as well as providing a checklist for things you can do during the
chapter (such as photography, inventions, stat power-ups, etc.). The rest
of the chapter is divided up into dungeon level overviews and interludes,
periods of non-dungeon exploration where you advance the plot or work on
the Georama for the area.
Prologue ~ A Night at the Circus [WPROLOGUE]
==--
After you've selected an outfit for Max (and if you're on a replay, for
Monica), the game will shift to Monica, and you'll have to fight a battle.
Now is your chance to learn about Monica's cheapest move, her charged sword
strike. Just hold down X until she glows slightly, then unleash it on the
nearest enemy. It knocks down lighter enemies (such as the ones you're
fighting), and you can spam it (ie. use it constantly) without penalty. Do
so until the soldiers are dead, and the story will continue for a while.
Eventually, you'll be in control of Max. Go to the save point and save, if
you wish, then go to the lower level of Cedric's shop, and down into the
bedroom section on the lower right. Grab the tool, then return to the
previous area and choose to work on the vaccuum cleaner on the table.
Another brief story sequence, and you'll be outside the circus tent. Save
if you wish, then go present your ticket to the clown by pressing Square
and selecting it. After this, go around and talk to people until the story
continues. Once this part is over, go present your ticket again (save
before you do, if you'd like). Some more story sequences, then you'll be
facing off a few Killer Clowns. If you'd like, you can use Max's power
attack on them like you used Monica's. Unfortunately, Max's isn't nearly
as easy to use effectively. Regardless, these guys are cake. Once they're
beaten, yet another story sequence will take place, and you'll be in the
sewers. Save if you want, then talk to Donny. Chapter 1 will officially
open, and you'll be sent to the first dungeon.
Chapter 1 ~ To the Outside World [WCHAPTER1]

Chapter 1 Overview [C1OVER]

This is the shortest chapter of the game, naturally. There's no Georama
yet, so the goals are more limited. There is, however, a whole lot of
photography you can partake in.

NOTE: Any time a * is listed after a monster's name, one of the monsters of
that type for the given dungeon floor has the gate key.
Medals:

Spheda Prize: Treasure Chest Key x2
Clear Goal: Complete without healing
Enemies:
Clown 6
Froggy 6
Sewer Rat* 6
Totals: 108 ABS, 108 Gilda
After a brief story sequence, you'll be on your way into the first floor
of the dungeon. No walkthrough is possible, since dungeon floors are
randomly generated, but I will explain the basics of dungeon exploration
here. Your goal is to find the gate key, which one of the enemies on each
floor holds. Once you have that, you can go to the next floor. Defeating
all enemies on a floor is not required, however, to progress to the next
floor. Also, treasure chests have random contents, but every floor has
chests with a map and Magic Crystal in it. The map is self-explanatory,
and the Magic Crystal shows you where all chests and enemies are on the
map. Very handy. You may occasionally find a blocked-off area of a
dungeon. To get past these barriers, you need a second form of gate key,
which is found in chests. Use this special dungeon key to access the
blocked-off areas.

There's a brief story sequence before you start this one.
Interlude ~ Palm Brinks Photo Spree [C1PHOTOS]
--==
After you enter the Channel Pump Room, there will be another story
sequence. Just wait out the battle, avoiding Linda, until the story takes
over again. Pretty soon, you'll be back in Palm Brinks. Now you get to go
on a photography spree. Your basic goal is to get a picture of some Pipes,
a Milk Can, and a Belt, but there's a lot more that you can and should take
photos of now. The checklist in the overview basically covers everything
you can take a picture of at this point, sans the last four photos. Some
of the pictures can be tricky to find, so look below if you find yourself
lost. In general, you should just take photos of anything and everything,
and keep your eyes open in all locations for new scoops.
Belt - The sheriff standing outside the police station is wearing one.
Car - Inside the bar, the bartender is serving drinks from it.
Ladder - Above the car, it doesn't look much like a ladder at all.
Pipes - Above Cedric's shop.
Once you have the three required photographs, select them in the Make menu
and press Square. Then go back to Cedric and talk to him. After this, go
buy the parts necessary and build the Energy Pack. If you don't know what
you need or forget, just select the Energy Pack's icon and look at what is
listed in red, negative numerals. Note that, if you collected enough
Rolling Logs in the dungeon, you can build a better Energy Pack instead
(the Energy Pack (Barrel)). However, Cedric will insist on you making a
normal Energy Pack for this part. Also, don't make the Energy Pack before
you've returned to Cedric with the photos, or you won't get the free Gilda
to buy stuff with. Once Steve is equipped, save and return to the Channel
Pump Room. Before you do, though, you should probably return to the
Channel Entrance and get the Fruit of Eden (and a reward from Donny,
assuming you went on a full-fledged photo spree).

Boss Fight ~ Brave Little Linda [C1LINDA]

Scoop: Brave Little Linda (only chance)
This time, you stand a chance. Before you fight her, though, take a photo
of her rearing up to attack. This is your only chance to get a shot of it,
so don't miss it! After that, just do a hit-and-run tactic with Steve:
attack her 3 times, then move backwards to avoid a counter-attack.
Attacking her from behind makes this easier. Keep it up, and Linda will
fall like a ton of bricks.

Note that this is a good chance to get a shot of a Night Stalker doing a
spinning attack, and a shot of Baron Balloon in his Vanguard holding on for
dear life while doing a piledriver attack. To get this, move right up to
a Vanguard; it always does the piledriver attack when you're right next
to it. Also, there's a brief story sequence before this floor begins.

Boss Fight ~ Halloween the Clown Robo [C1CLOWN]
--==
Scoop: Clown Robo's Attack (only chance)
After a brief story sequence in the Channel Reservoir, you'll be fighting
Flotsam's clown robo, Halloween. Before you get to killing Halloween, be
sure to take a snapshot of it when it jumps into the distance and opens one
of its eyes to launch a missile. This scoop, Clown Robo's Attack, is used
in far too many inventions, and this is your only chance to get it.
Anyway, the fight is deceptively simple. Just take the clown noses the
bot shoots at you, and toss them back at it. Once it's down, switch to
Steve and give it a punch combo. Keep this up until it dies. If it drops
monsters on you, you'll have to kill them before Halloween reappears.
Also, the missile attack is easy to dodge, as it only homes in on wherever
you were standing when it was launched. After the fight, just head out to
the last area of the sewers.

Finishing up Chapter 1 [C1FINISH]
--==
This is it, the closing of the chapter. Take a snapshot of the waterfall,
and a shot of the iron bridge that the train tracks are on. Then head down
to the platform near the iron bridge to meet up with Cedric. After a short
story sequence, you'll be on-board Blackstone One. Take a snapshot of the
coal pile and the fire house, save, and go up topside. Another boss?
Well, not exactly. Just toss bombs at Flotsam's car, preferably right
after he jumps over the train. If your aim is good, you should get him.
Do this three times, and another story sequence will take place. Don't
worry if you lose and the train is derailed, you'll be given as many tries
as you need. At last, chapter 1 comes to a close.

Interlude ~ Palm Brinks Photo Spree Revisited [C2PHOTOS]
--==
Palm Brinks is now fully open, so you can go back there and go on a photo
shoot. Most everything in this chapter can be found there, except for the
following: Grass, Hammock, anything relating to Jurak, Fruit, Log,
Lin's House, Mushroom, Mushroom Burgers Sign, Torch, Pot Torch, Quartz,
Water Wheel, Woody Tailor Sign, and Wooden Bookshelf. The hard-to-find
photos in Palm Brinks are:
Bone - The skeleton in Dell Clinic.
Curtain - In Max's room; this is the only curtain that will count.
Dresser - In Max's room; don't be fooled by its commonplace appearance.
Egg - On an upper shelf in Dell Clinic.
Eyeball - In Dr. Dell's clinic, near the egg.
Elena's Portrait - In Max's house, in his father's room.
Fence - The metal fence around Max's house.
Glasses Case - In Mayor Need's office, full of glasses and hard to miss.
Palm Tree - In Max's house, in the water-filled hall.
Phone - In Max's house, on the wall that is invisible to the game camera.
Use the camera viewfinder to locate it.
Rock - Look around the lake, outside of where you can walk.
Rug - On the floor of the church. Actually, it's more of a carpet.
Saw - Dell Clinic, next to the dentist-like chair.
Stained Glass - In Max's house, on the ceiling.
Stand - This is the lamp on Mayor Need's desk. A translation error; "desk
lamp" is literally "electric stand" in Japanese.
Note that you can also nab 20 Purple Paint in the upper loft of Parn's
Studio. Just climb the ladder and check the area.
This should get you enough of a score to get another reward from Donny.
Go visit his secret base and get it, then return to Sindain to meet up with
the inhabitants there.

it's noticed you), Dangerous Pumpkin is when the Pumpkinhead spins its fork
around, and Floatin' Earth Digger is the most annoying of all of them,
since Molers only jump when they're trying to attack you.

Great Fish Swamp ~ Helping the Firbits [C2SWAMP]
--==
Scoops: Master Utan, King Mardan (only chance)
Ahh, sigh of relief, no enemies on this floor. Go talk to the fishing
Firbit, then head up past the big swamp to the far side of the area. After
a cutscene with Master Utan (be sure to snap a photo of him!), you'll get a
Poison Apple, which you should put on your fishing rod. Go cast it out
into the swamp, and once you see the bobber go underwater, press downwards
on the left analog stick. After another story scene (take a picture of
King Mardan!), go to the pond where the Firbit is fishing and catch a
Priscleen. If you run out of bait, just talk to the Firbit to get more.
Anyway, take the Priscleen back to King Mardan and give it to him with the
Square button (but be sure you've photographed him before you do; this is
your one and only chance to do so!). Another cutscene later, exit this
area the way you came, and go back to the Firbits' house in Sindain. Be
sure to get your reward for reaching photography lv. 4 from Donny, as well.
Photo Count: 127 ideas, 11 scoops (2 new) (Lv. 4, 309 pts)
New Photos: *Master Utan, *King Mardan
Interlude ~ Carpenterion [C2CARPENT]
--==
After another cutscene, you'll now have control of Carpenterion. This is
a good time to go to the future briefly and collect a few power-up items
lying about there. There's not a lot you can do with the Georama just yet,
so return to the Rainbow Butterfly Woods and talk to Master Utan again.
Then go through the area he opens up for you. This would be a good point
to buy a Barrel Cannon from Cedric, if you haven't already.

Interlude ~ Recruitment Drive [C2RECRUIT]
--==
Head back to Sindain and check out the new Geostones. To do this, press
Select to enter Carpenterion, then press Triangle to bring up the
Carpenterion building menu. Go back to walking mode, and a cutscene will
commence. Now, go back to Palm Brinks, and talk to Gordon (he's tending to
a tree in Max's yard). Give him a Holy Water item (you can buy them from
the priest if you don't have any), and he'll join you. Now you can recruit
a lot of people. How to do so is listed briefly in the overview, but I'll
go into detail about how here.
* Gerald - He'll give you a Trumpet Gun, and tell you to make it into a
Bell Trigger. Show him a Bell Trigger to get him to join. Any will do,
you don't have to build up the Trumpet Gun at all.
Location: He's in Max's house, in his study.
* Stewart - Talk to him several times, and give him 2000 Gilda when he asks
for it. He'll return some of it to you when you see him next (just enter
and exit a room), and join you.
Location: In the foyer of Max's house.
* Granny Rosa - Quite simply, just say "Let's go together." (but without
the quotation marks; also, make sure you select . and not ,).
Location: Usually in the waterfall room of Max's house.
* Ferdinand - After talking to him, give him a Roasted Chestnut. You can
find those all over the place in the Rainbow Butterfly Woods.
Location: In the kitchen of Max's house.
* Adel - Talk to her, then give her a Sturdy Cloth, Thick Hide, and Hunk
of Copper. Exit the room and re-enter, and she'll give you Green Overalls
and join you.
Location: In the servants' quarters of Max's house, which is just beyond
the kitchen.
* Corrine - Go to Morton's house (the one with the pumpkin patch) and find
her upstairs. Then go find her upstairs in Claire' house (the house that's
closest to Max's), and again in Max's room.
Location: As said above, in Morton's house.
* Priest Bruno - Just put out all candles in cathedral. To do this (and
it's quite easy), do a sort of chess-knight pattern of movement, starting
with a candle close to Bruno, then going down two and over to the other
side, and repeat twice more.
Location: None too surprisingly, in the church.
* Fabio - After talking to him, catch a 60cm+ Nonky and talk to him with it
in your inventory.
Location: On the pier up at the lake.
* Sheriff Blinkhorn - Run to boat on the pier at the lake and back in less
than 2 minutes and 1 second. This is hard to do if Fabio is in the way, so
you may want to recruit him first.
Location: In front of the police station. You took a photo of his belt the
previous chapter, remember?
* Milane - Talk to her as Monica. She'll give you a Gladius, and tell you
to level it up twice. This means you have to show her a Sand Breaker or
Chopper. Once you do, she'll join you. As with Gerald, you don't have to
build up the Gladius if you have a Sand Breaker or Chopper already.
Location: Inside the weapons shop.
* Aunt Polly - Talk to her, then go to Morton's Sundries. After that, go
to Morton's house (it has a pumpkin patch), and read the note on his door.
Go talk to Morton again, and then talk to Polly again.
Location: Usually in her bakery.
* Rufio - Take a photo of The Moon and keep it on your idea board. Then
talk to Rufio twice, and he'll join up.
Location: Walking around the lake.
* Mayor Need - He needs to get into his safe, so he'll give you hints on
the combination to it. If you don't want to figure it out yourself, the
combination is 1221.
Location: In his second-floor office at City Hall.
Once you have everybody you want to recruit, go back to the Rainbow
Butterfly Wood, and conquer the next two areas.

Interlude ~ The Lafrescia [C2LAFRESC]
--==
Now you're at a good point to do some Georama work on Sindain. Here's a
fairly efficient way to do it. First, make the following items (you'll
probably have to make several visits to Conda during this to get resources,
just to forewarn you):
15 River
15 Rough Wooden Fence
7 Thorn Tree
2 Wooden House
2 Straw House
1 Cart
1 Fruit Tree
1 Pot
1 Pot Torch
1 Nose Tree
1 Eye Tree 1
1 Eye Tree 2
1 Waterwheel
Next, put down the 15 River pieces in a line somewhere, preferrably
backing the Withered Jurak. Place the houses as you please (I suggest you
put one of the wooden ones near the entrance to Sindain, you'll be visiting
that one often), making sure there's room around one of the straw houses
for a lot of trees. Place the Eye Trees and Nose Tree so that the nose is
between the eyes, and near the river. Place all of the other trees near
one of the Staw Houses, and move Gordon into it. Move Adel into the other
Straw House. Put the Cart next to the Wooden House not at the entrance to
Sindain, and move Polly into it. Put the Waterwheel on the river, and put
the Pot and Pot Torch wherever you want; any that are close to more than
one house will give multiple CP boosts. Move Milane into the Wooden House
closest to the entrance. Finally, place the 15 Wooden Fence pieces around
the Firbits' house. Take some photos.
Sindain's Georama will be at 100% when you've done this. Go through the
time gate for a story sequence, and collect all the power-ups while you're
there, as well as the Golden Paint from the Golden Eggs. Be sure to snap
some photos, too! Once you return to the present, go right back to the
future for yet another story scene. Return to the present, and then back
to the future for one last story scene. Now, go buy a Himarra Badge from
the Woody Tailor shop. If you plan to recruit Donny now, get a Dark Coin
and an Indestructible Coin, too. Time for a brief recruitment drive.
* Parn & Julia - Give Parn the Gold Paint you got from the Golden Eggs.
Location: Inside Parn's studio; his shop has a sign with a purple icon on
it, so it's easy to find if you're observant.
* Donny - Give him one Dark Coin and one Indestructible Coin.
Location: Down in the Underground Channel Entrance.
Once you feel everything is in order, go to a level in the forest that has
Himarra enemies. Have Monica transform into a Himarra herself, and then
talk to one of them to get Sundrops. Once that's done, head to the Rainbow
Falls, and use the Lafrescia Seed on the small swamp. Then use the
Sundrops, and take a photo of the stem. You can now recruit one last
character for this chapter.
* Claire - Show her a picture of the Lafrescia Stem from your idea board.
You can also use a picture of a Himarra.
Location: In the house you found Corrine in earlier, most of the time.
At the cafe the rest of the time.
After that, return to the stem (save first, of course), hop on up, and
get ready for a boss fight.
Photo Count: 137 ideas (10 new), 15 scoops (3 new) (Lv. 4, 349 pts)
New Ideas: Fruit, Jurak Arms Sign, Jurak's Eye, Jurak's Nose, Mushroom,
Mushroom Burgers Sign, Pot Torch, Quartz, Water Wheel, Woody Tailor Sign,
*Find the Golden Egg!, *Hmmmm! Jurak, *Lafrescia Stem
New Inventions:
- Anti-Petrify Amulet [Clock & Jurak's Eye & Morning Sun]
- Barrel Cannon [Barrel & Fountain & Mushroom]
- Double Pudding [Milk Can & Wheat Flour & *Find the Golden Egg!]
- Lure Rod [Fish & River & *Lafrescia Stem]
Boss ~ Rainbow Butterfly [C2BUTTERF]
--==
Scoop: R. Butterfly United! (only chance)
This fight is deceptively easy. Attack the tentacles of the Lafrescia
instead of trying to hit the butterfly, and once the butterfly splits, hit
them out of order (for simplicity's sake, just don't hit the red one first;
that starts the sequence to winning the fight). You should hit your
selected butterfly with the Ridepod's Barrel Cannon, so you don't risk
getting too close or getting hit. Make sure your photography board is
empty, and point your camera up at the joining of the Lafrescia tentacles,
where the butterfly is re-joining. Start snapping photos like mad, and you
should get R. Butterfly United out of it. Repeat the tentacle luring bit
again, and this time hit them in counter-clockwise order, starting with red
(so red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, violet; the colors of the
rainbow in their classic order, which is no shocker). This will end
the battle.
Photo Count: 137 ideas, 16 scoops (1 new) (Lv. 4, 354 pts)
New Photos: *R. Butterfly United!
After the fight is over, return to Sindain briefly, and visit Jurak in the
future once more. Go to Blackstone One, and tell Cedric you're ready to
move out.
Finishing up Chapter 2 [C2FINISH]
--==
As you arrive in Balance Valley, go visit Lin's house. After a story
scene, go see Dr. Dell in Palm Brinks (his office is on the lake). Take
him to see Lin. This chapter will finally end, and chapter 3 will open.
Photo Count: 139 ideas (2 new), 16 scoops (Lv. 4, 358 pts)
New Photos: Torch, Lin's House
End-Chapter Stats:
Max: 64HP, 16 DEF
Monica: 64HP, 16 DEF
139 ideas, 16 scoops, 30 inventions (Lv. 3, 358 pts)
Chapter 3 ~ The Sage of the Stars [WCHAPTER3]
==--
Chapter 3 Overview [C3OVER]
--==
Chapter 3's future area has two glitches. First, you must collect the
3 Fruits of Eden that are rewarded after Earth-Shaking Demon before going
on to the level after it, or you will never be able to get 2 of them.
Second, you must not get the Fruit of Eden on the far corner of the weapon
shop platform until after a certain point in chapter 6. As such, the
checkbox for that fruit is not in this chapter.
NOTE: You can now buy Seal-Breaking Scrolls at Morton's Sundries in Palm
Brinks. These let you break any of the three Seal types on a floor in an
instant, instead of having to kill all enemies to break it.
Scoops:

Interlude ~ Balance Valley [C3BALANCE]
--==
After some more cutscenes, you'll be ready to enter the dungeon of this
chapter, Starlight Canyon. Though you may want to go set your support
character first, since Dr. Dell kind of removed them from your party. Oh
yes, this is a good time to start the Georama for this area, too. Build
the following items:
15 Thorn Tree
4 Pot Torch
1 Straw House
1 Wooden House
1 Wooden Gate
Put the Straw House on a platform, and paint the roof purple (you can get
paints from Parn). Move Parn into this house. Put the Wooden House on one
of the other platforms, and move Stewart into it. Put the Wooden Gate and
Pot Torches near either or both of these. Finally, put the trees on the
platforms, distributing them so that the platforms are all even (ie. shown
as blue in the bottom left corner).
Once this is done, go into Starlight Canyon.

Upon returning to Balance Valley, build the following:
1 Weather Vane
1 Chinese Stand
1 Warehouse
Place the Weather Vane and Warehouse on a house, and place the Chinese
Stand near any of the houses. Redistribute trees as necessary to balance
out the platforms. Move Ferdinand into the Chinese Stand, and be sure to
take photos of all the stuff on his stand.
Now, go visit the future and collect the following power-ups: the 3 Fruit
of Edens on the bridges between the outer platforms, and the Fruit of Eden
and Potato Pie on the center platform. With that done, you've gotten past
the first potential glitch of this part of the game, and can safely proceed
to the next floor of Starlight Canyon.

Now you should return to Balance Valley and build the following:
1 Brick House
7 Wooden Fence

Place the fences and the gate from before around the Brick House, and move
Sheriff Blinkhorn in. Move Priest Bruno into the church. As always be
sure to balance out the platforms. There's a few things you can photograph
in the church. Once you've gotten these, head to the future and visit Lao
Chao's Bistro (which also has a lot of photo opportunities). Starlight
Weapons should also be there now, so go visit it and snap a shot of a Horn
and Hat. Your photography level should be 5 now, so you can get another
reward from Donny. Once everything is done, go back to Elephant Army in

Barga's Valley ~ Introducing Spheda [C3BARGAS]
--==
Before you move on, go back to Balance Valley and make a Star Lamp. Put
it on the brick house (and be sure to get a snapshot of it!). Once that's
done, go to Barga's Valley. After a short story sequence, you'll be asked
to find a stick. There's one sitting in the sand pit nearby. Equip it and
talk to Monica to continue. Now you have to play a little game of Spheda.
If you want to win quickly, aim for the rock formation with a star on it
(this can be tricky to spot) for a one-hit goal. Otherwise, just make the
sphere disappear and let Monica do it. You'll get a Swan Spheda club if
you make the goal yourself, and a Turkey Spheda club if you let Monica do
it for you. Either choice will get you the White Windflower.
NOTE: I HIGHLY suggest you go back to Palm Brinks, and visit Mena in city
hall. Talk to her as Monica. This will eventually allow you to recruit
her. I say you should do this now because, if you don't, any games of
Spheda you play before talking to her won't count towards recruiting her.

avoid giving the Miracle Dumplings to Lin for as many as 3 more floors.
Just keep in mind that, when you do give the Miracle Dumplings to her, she
will join your party for the rest of the time you're in this area. Once
you do heal her, Star Items should appear in the future. Go there and get
some new ideas, and buy a Starglass as well. Might as well do some item
collecting, but remember to NOT grab the chest that's glitched!

Head back to Balance Valley and make a Laundry. Put it on a house and
get a shot of it. This is a good time to catch up on inventions. Now, if
you haven't saved Lin, you have to if you want to proceed. Once she's in
your party, go to Yorda's Valley. Get a shot of the Giant Yorda Tree, and
then approach it. You'll have to fight the Phantom Memo Eater. He's not a
difficult boss at all (just use ranged attacks like the Barrel Cannon), but
this is your only chance to get his scoop. Once you've got the photo of
and beaten the boss, you can move on.

Contest. For info on that, see the next section.
Interlude ~ Fishing Contest [C3FISHING]
--==
Now is a good time to take some more photos. First, build and place a
Well in Balance Valley, and get a shot of that. Then, head to the Fishing
Contest (if it's going on; there will be a green banner in the top left
corner of the menu when it's happening). Get a shot of the various Fishing
Contest items. If the contest is not happening at the moment, feel free to
move on with the dungeon. Just remember to go to Palm Brinks once the
contest IS happening, and get the photos then. Once you're ready, you can
take on the last level of Starlight Canyon.

After completing this floor, be sure you've gathered all of the items in
the future (except for the glitched FoE, of course!), and be sure you save.
Then, it's on to the lighthouse.
Lighthouse on the Cape ~ Dual Boss Battle [C3CAPE]
--==
Approach the lighthouse after the short story sequence, and use the
Starglass. After another story sequence, you'll be fighting Gaspard as
Monica. The trick to dealing with him is to do a charged strike, and as he
starts to get back up, hit him with another charged strike. After you've
taken off about a third of his health, you'll switch to Max.
Max has to beat up Evil Flame enemies. But first, get a snapshot of the
Flying Battleship. Then, get in the Ridepod and use the Barrel Cannon to
beat the flames, constantly locking on new ones as they appear. Continue
until you're back to Monica, and resume the tactic mentioned above. It
will again switch back to Max, where you should again blow away flames with
the Barrel Cannon. And then, you'll have one last duel with Gaspard, where
the same tactics as before apply.
After the fight, you'll see a number of cutscenes. Save your game, and
visit Starlight Temple in the future. After the story sequence is over,
visit the temple again, and gather the items on the Moon Crystal layer of
the temple (be sure to get a snapshot of the crystal itself, too!).

Interlude ~ Building Veniccio Up [C4BUILD]
--==
Now that you should have the Iron House Geostone, we can begin building up
Veniccio. In Georama mode, make the following:
8 Pier
4 Iron House
2 Shop Boat
1 Pot Torch
From the entrance of Veniccio's Georama (there's a banner over it), facing
out towards the sea, place the piers and boats like so:
P- Key:
P-P- S = Shop Boat
SP-P-S P- = Pier
P-P- B- = Entrance Banner
P-
B-
You can, of course, configure this however you want, but this is the most
efficient way. Anyway, put an Iron House on each pier. Paint one red, one
blue, one green, and one purple. Put the Pot Torch near the red house (if
you can, put it between both it and its closest neighbor). Move Claire
into the red house, and Donny into the blue one. That should boost your
Georama score a bit, and open up a bit of the future area of Veniccio, Luna
Labs. As you may have guessed, it's time to go on a photo spree. Start by
going into one of the iron houses, and take photos of the T.V., Small
Generator, Banana, Egg-Shaped Transmitter, and Ventilation. Then head to
the future, and snap a few shots there: Air Cleaner, Egg Chair, Energy
Pipe, Work Equipment, and Work Robot. This should put you just at the
right level to get another reward from Donny.

Boss ~ Puppet Shingala [C4PUPPET]
--==
After a story sequence in the Cave of Ancient Murals, you'll be taken back
to Veniccio. Visit Luna Labs, and pay a visit to lab 1 (the red one). If
you haven't already, catch a fish, then feed it the Electric Worm from
inside your Aquarium. If you don't have the Aquarium, well, you'd better
hurry up and build one, and catch a fish to stick in it! Once you've done
that, go back to the Cave of Ancient Murals.
BOSS: Puppet Shingala (Scoop)
After snapping a photo of Shingala, start shooting him with Max's gun.
Once Shingala opens its mouth, grab the electrified fish and toss it
directly at Shingala's mouth. That's all there is to it. If you miss,
the fish will reappear somewhere on the battlefield, and you'll have to try
again. Be sure you don't kill Shingala!
After the fight, return to the future and visit lab 2 (the blue one).
This will nab you the Shell Talkie, which is required for finishing this
particular chapter. After that, it's back to the usual grind.

Interlude ~ Healing Shingala [C4HEALING]
--==
Go ahead and visit the Shigura Village. Talk to the leader (he's pretty
obvious, as he's the only Shigura of his coloring), and then return to
Veniccio. Go ahead and build a Windmill for the Georama and place it, as
well as snap a shot of the Windmill Feather. If the Georama CP is below
80, just add a few Iron Sheds to the other houses to shore the score up.
Save your game too, just in case and all that. Go use the medicine on
Shingala. After that, go to the Shigura Village again. You'll have to
fight Jaming.

New Photos: Windmill Feather
New Inventions:

Boss ~ Doctor Jaming [C4JAMING]
--==
Scoop: Dr. Jaming (only chance)
Strategy: After snapping a photo, follow Jaming around while guarding.
Whenever he's not telling the Shigura to attack you, attack the Shigura
that will intercept his movement path when it lifts its head. Keep this
up until Jaming is defeated. Note that, if you missed the Flying
Battleship scoop before, this is your second chance to get it.
After the fight, Luna Labs should be finished. If they're not, just put
down some more CP-raising items in the Georama to finish it. Visit Luna
Labs (you should get a Nova Cannon from Osmond for getting 100% on the
Georama), then go into the central lab and watch the long-arse cutscene.
Be sure you collect power-ups and the like, too!

Interlude ~ Heim Rada Rebuilding [C5BUILD]
--==
First things first. Head straight back to Veniccio and recruit Pau. Go
on back to Heim Rada after that, and take some photos (the Hot Springs
Spirit is obviously a ghost photo, head down the semi-hidden path to the
hot springs and focus on the spring to the right). Then, build the
following items:
10 Pot
4 Brick House
3 Iron Stand
2 Brick Chimney
1 Windmill
1 Straw House
Place 3 of the houses side-by-side, so they can all benefit from the CP
of items placed near them. Put a Chimney on two of these houses, then put
the 10 pots however you like behind the houses (try to cluster them close
to said houses for maximum CP). Place all 3 stands in the same spot, so
they stack up, and put the last Brick House on top of them. Place the
Windmill next to this high house. Finally, move Cedric, Gerald, and Borneo
into the 3 lower houses, and Erik into the house up on the stands (just use
Carpenterion to put yourself up on the stand). Place the Straw House
anywhere, return to the train stop, then come back. Take a photo of the
Cinders that remain.
Next you should visit the Gundorada Workshop, so go ahead and do that.
There are some items you can snap photos of there, but not much else right
at the moment. Head up Mt. Gundor once you're done with your photo spree.

Interlude ~ Before the Fire Squall [C5BEFORE]
--==
Return to Heim Rada. First things first: make a Hardened Mud Pile, and
don't put it over one of the geysers; that will just cause it (and the
geyser) to vanish. Take a photo of it.
IMPORTANT: If you want a full photo album, be sure you take a picture of
Cinders before you go any further! Also be sure you get a shot of a Geyser
before you plug them all up (assuming you even bother to; it's not even
remotely necessary).
Now, head to Mount Gundor Peak, and take a photo of the Fire Squall.
This is critical, since (as you should be well aware) it's not going to be
around for much longer. Place the time bomb.

the two times before, get it now!

Boss ~ Ultimate Gaspard [C5GASPARD]
--==
Enter the Mount Gundor Mouth, and use the Fire Horn. Take a shot of the
path across the lava that appears, and as you cross it, get a shot of the
fallen Death Ark battleship. Make any final preparations necessary, then
head up to the ship proper. You'll fight Gaspard.
Boss: Gaspard
He's not changed one bit, and he's ridiculously easy now that you can
fight him with Steve. Use the Ridepod's Samurai Arm II to make Gaspard
into elf burger.
After the fight, another story sequence commences, and you'll be fighting
another boss.
Boss: The Ultimate Gaspard (scoop)
Take a photo of this flame demon, then do exactly what you did to his
other form. For such a supposedly powerful boss, he sure is pathetic.
Seriously, just chaining 3 hits of Samurai Arm II then backing off and
repeating is enough to win.
Once again, another story sequence will play out, and you'll be taken back
to Heim Rada.

Return to Gundorada Workshop and snap a photo of the massive Paznos. Then
head into the Operations Room for a very lengthy series of story sequences.
You'll get Monica's Holy Daedalus Blade during said sequence. Go to Paznos
Bridge via any of the jump gates, and take a shot of the Paznos Pattern
(above the front window). Then talk to Agaris to commence the next part of
the story sequence. After this, head to Luna Lab's central lab and watch
the final story sequence of chapter 5.

Chapter 6 Overview [C6OVER]
--==
A bit of a break from the norm, there's no Georama work that needs to be
done in this chapter. Just take photos, go through the dungeons, and get
the power-up items. Quite a snap with Steve powered up sufficiently. Note
that you must get all the shots around Kazarov Stonehenge and the Moon
Flower Palace before completing chapter 7, hence why everything relating to
these two things (and Ixion) are listed as missable. The Dead Tree photo
must be taken as soon as you reach the Moon Flower Palace for the first

The Locked Palace [C6PALACE]
--==
This chapter opens up with another story sequence, then deposits you
outside of the ancient Moon Flower Palace. Take some photos (one of which
is sneakily hidden inside Ixion itself). The Moon Flower Palace scoop is
gotten by taking a picture of the main entrance doors, if you're wondering.
Once you're all set, enter the Moon Flower Palace. After a story sequence,
you'll be fighting none other than Emperor Griffon.
Boss: Emperor Griffon (scoop)
Take a snapshot of him, then start aiming and firing. It's best to use a
ranged weapon like Max's gun, Monica's armlet, or Steve's Nova Cannon. The
fight will be delayed midway through for a story sequence, then it will
continue. Nothing changes about the fight, however. His tactics are
generally to swerve all over the place. When he attacks, he'll summon
several roses to launch at you (you can tell when he's going to do this, he
moves differently than normal). Just keep moving so they don't hit you.
If he rushes towards you, guard until he's done unleashing his power
attack, or (if you've got good reflexes) back off so it misses you.
After the fight, there will be more story sequence. Exit the palace, then
re-enter it. A long story sequence commences.
Photo Count: 216 ideas (4 new), 43 scoops (3 new) (Lv. 7, 647 pts)

Interlude ~ Kazarov Stonehenge [C6KAZAROV]
--==
You'll find yourself at Kazarov Stonehenge after the story sequence is
finally over. Take a shot of the central structure here, as well as the
four altars. Now, four new paths are open, one per previous dungeon you
have visited. You have to take all of them, but the order you take them on
in is entirely up to you. I suggest taking them on in the order that you
originally did, but it actually makes no difference either way. Be sure
you visit Donny and get new scoops, by the way.
