After the battle, you'll be fully healed, and in pursuit of the girl you just
fought. Move forward to fight a couple of Goons. These Goons are weaker than
the ones you just fought, so you can kill them in one hit each. Goons and
She-Goons will run through this area and the next. If they touch you you'll
have to fight them, you can't escape from battle.

STRATEGY: Now you can use Spherechange by pressing L1. In fact Yuna has to do
one at the beginning of this battle, and then she must use Darkness Dance for

Once you are aboard the ship, talk to everyone on the bridge for some
introductions and several cutscenes. Talk to Brother, listen to his broken
English (Spiran?), and he will give you three Al Bhed Primers. Sitting to his
left is Buddy, who will give you another Al Bhed Primer. If you want a
tutorial on the Garment Grids and such, talk to Shinra. He'll give you the
Vanguard GG if you finish the Garment Grid Tutorial. Watch the Journey's Start
treasure sphere. Now, head to the back and take the elevator to the
Engine Room.

You will find four chests. Open them to find an Ether, Phoenix Down x4, a
Potion, and Remedy x3. Take the elevator to the Cabin.

You can meet the Bar Keep in the Cabin, and he'll sell you items. Take a rest
here. Brother will summon you to the Bridge with news about a sphere on
Mt. Gagazet. Approach Rikku and Paine.
Choose to fly to Mt. Gagazet, since it's your only choice.

Floating Ruins - Upper Tier
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
When you first arrive on Mt. Gagazet, the girls will overcome a disasteriffic
ordeal involving that clumsy Yuna. After all is taken care of, you will start
down the path. The game will explain how to jump and everything, but you will
come to a drop off with a treasure chest at the bottom. Don't hold down
Circle, and Yuna will fall down into the crevace, allowing you to claim the
Yellow Ring.
Follow the path until you reach a dead end, where you will see a shining spot
on the wall. Press it to start the elevator.

Floating Ruins - Base

Upon reaching the bottom, you can follow the path to the left and you will find
a chest containing an Elixir. Go back to the right, and climb to the highest
ledge you can reach, and you will initiate a boss fight with the Team Rocket of
FFX-2, the Leblanc Syndicate.

STRATEGY: Leblanc can attack the whole party at once with Sonic Fan, so take
her out first. Darkness Dance helps keep you safe.
You'll be healed after the battle. Now you have six minutes to beat them to
the top of the ruins. If you make it, a Muscle Belt will be waiting for you in
a chest at the top. If not, the chest will be empty. The timer will stop
during random encounters, so don't worry about that. Ignore the fallen
pillers, but go to the right of them until you reach a dead end where you can
collect a Mega Phoenix. Now, head back down to the path to the left, where
you'll find the entrance to the temple. When you get to the door, Logos will
appear and make you fight two Goons and two Recoils. After you defeat them,
head into the temple.

Floating Ruins - Passage

When you enter, there will be one button on each wall to your right and your
left, similiar to the button you pressed to get the elevator to work. Push
them, and it will open a new path to the north. You can drop into the pit to
find a White Ring. Continue and make a right at the fork. Follow this path,
passing the pillar you lowered using the switches, until you arrive outside.
Open the chest for a Red Ring. Go back to the fork and take the other path.
Exit the temple, and you will be back outside, on an easy to follow circular
path. Follow it until Ormi appears and sends three Recoils and a She-Goon to
attack you. Climb up a few ledges to a smaller circular path. At the end is a
Star Pendant. Backtrack and climb your way up to the save point.

Floating Ruins - Spire

If you managed to beat the Leblanc Syndicate up the mountain, you will find
them in a rough spot, and you can claim the Muscle Belt on the ledge they are
hanging from. Continue up the cliff ledges and up the stairs, where you will
run into a nasty looking fiend.

STRATEGY: Use Power Break or Darkness Dance. If you get inflicted with Stop
from Sticky End, use a Remedy or just wait for it to wear off.
Talk to Brother and choose to comfort him. Talk to Shinra to watch the sphere
you just recovered. You can use it as a DS, the Black Mage.
Now that the introductory missions are complete, you can choose which places to
visit in Spira. There are two hotspots, Besaid and Zanarkand. You can
complete the story missions there in either order, but once you've completed
both of them, you'll be forced to go to Kilika for the final mission of the
chapter. I prefer to do Besaid first because you get the White Mage DS there.
So make sure you've completed all the optional stuff you want to do in this
chapter before heading to Zanarkand.

I think it's helpful to go here first, because you can start the PR (Public
Relations) and Marriage sidequests. Both of these span the entire game, and
require you to talk to people throughout Spira. Starting them now allows you
to make your pitches to people the first time you visit each place, so you
don't have to backtrack.

Head west until you see the two people near the Hover. See the appropriate
section for more information on the PR sidequest. You can trade in 500 credits
at Open Air for a Charm Bangle (No Encounters). It's useful to have around
when you're tired of random encounters. You start with 100 credits, so if you
have 4000 gil, you can just buy the remaining 400 credits. Or you can try your
luck at one of the mini-games. I prefer Reptile Run because it's more
skill-based rather than luck-based, compared to the other two games. I suggest
joining with Argent for now, because their level 2 prize lists are more
appealing.

After talking to Wakka, you can explore the town. If you visit the item shop,
avoid asking about rare items. The rare item is the Besaid Key. It will cost
you 900,000 gil if you want to buy it during this chapter. There's a chance
she'll have sold it to someone else, so don't ask her about rare items until
you have the money, and save before asking her, so that you can reload if she's
sold it to someone else. It's much cheaper to get the key in Chapter 3, or you
may even get it for free. Whether you decide to get it now or wait, I'll
describe how to use it later in this section.
Enter Lulu's house and talk to her. After the scene, head back to her house
and spend the night. Talk to Lulu outside, and tell her you're on the case to
officially start the mission. Talk to everyone in the village to get clues
about the cave. Go back to the save point and head right.

set of ciphers. Examine the statue to get the first digit, and exit to the

The door to the cave is on the left, but we still need two more digits, so head
south.

Go down and to the left a bit, and you'll see a ledge you can jump up to.
Climb all the way up for the third digit. Continue around the ruined building
and jump to the right to find a secret area, with chests containing a Hi-Potion
and 1000 gil. Go back to the main beach area, and follow the water until you
find the last pink dot. Climb up and get the second digit. Now go back to the
door and open it by putting in the code.

Talk to Wakka, who will happily sit there while you go look for the sphere.
The door on the right won't open without the second set of ciphers, so take the
left path. When you come to the intersection, take the left branch for Potion

Save and get ready for a boss battle. Move forward and examine the sphere.

STRATEGY: Equipping someone with the Red Ring you got at the Floating Ruins
will reduce damage from Flame Breath. Use Darkness Dance or Power Break.
Attack with Blizzard or Ice Blade.
After the battle, you'll obtain the White Mage DS. Go back to the cave
entrance and talk to Wakka. You get the Besaid Sphere.
As an additional prize, you get the Protection Halo GG. You'll end up back on
the airship. If you decide to raise 900,000 gil for the Besaid Key, here's how
you use it.
Go back to Besaid Village and go to the temple. Get the Search Sphere from the
locked chest in the north room. Use the Search Sphere by holding down the O
button while you walk around Besaid. Use the indicator bars to see if you're
close to something. When the bars turn red and fill up all the way, press X to
dig. You'll find a CommSphere. It's like a telescope. Use it and search for
a small blue/green plate with a digit inscribed on it. These digits make up
the second set of ciphers. The four CommSphere locations:
Besaid Village: under the tent in the west part of town
Besaid - Village Slope: southwest from the save point
Besaid - Waterfall Way: before the bridge
Besaid - Valley: near the pond
Use the digits you found to open the door inside the cave. Follow the path and
you'll find chests with an Ether and the Raging Giant GG.

You can get different items by choosing which missions to complete, and which
ones to skip, at the Moonflow and Mt. Gagazet. Some of these effects aren't
seen until Chapter 5, so it's tough to know what to do. I don't know what all
the requirements are for each item, so I'll have to update this in a future
version. Here's what I do know. If you complete Mission: Guard the Hypello,
you'll get the Gun Mage DS in Chapter 1, but you won't be able to get the
Enterprise accessory later. If you skip the mission, you can still get the
Gun Mage DS in Chapter 2, and you can get the Enterprise accessory later.
Also, if you skip/fail any missions, you won't get Episode Complete in each
area in Chapter 5, meaning you won't get the Mascot DS. It's up to you.

The little red guy running around here is Tobli. Talk to him if you want to do
this mission. Exit to the south.

Run south until you see the Hypello and his chocobo-drawn cart. Talk to him to
start the mission. You need to run a bit ahead of the chocobo for it to move.
There are 5 pieces of cargo on the cart. You'll be sieged by 5 bandits.
Attack them by running up to them and push X. You can attack them before or
after they steal the cargo. If you defeat them, the cargo gets put back on the
cart. If you don't attack them and they get away, that piece of cargo is lost.
They don't try very hard to get away, so you shouldn't have too much of a
problem with this mission. Continue north until you reach Tobli. He'll give
you the Gun Mage DS no matter how many pieces of cargo you saved, even if you
didn't save any. If you managed to save all 5 pieces, you'll also receive a
Circlet and the Helios Guard GG. You can fight monsters on both the
South Bank Road and the North Bank Road. Ride the shoopufs to go between.

A line will form in front of the shop to the right of the temple. You can't
enter the shop until everyone else goes in first. While you're waiting, get
the Phoenix Down on the far left. Once you can enter the shop, talk to the man
at the counter and tell him you're interested in digging. Then go inside the
temple and talk to Gippal. He'll give you Al Bhed Primer. Follow him outside
and head south to talk to him again. He'll give you the Letter of
Introduction. Head back inside the temple and get the Echo Screen from the
chest in one of the rooms. Then back outside, head south and find Potion x2 at
the bottom of this area. Head south again if you want to fight monsters. Now
that you have the Letter of Introduction, Bikanel becomes a Hotspot, so let's
head there.

The Charm Bangle doesn't work here. Follow Rikku until you get lost, and the
Al Bhed will rescue you. You'll get an Al Bhed Primer. There's a locked chest
here that can't be opened until later. Make sure you got the Letter of
Introduction in Djose, and talk to Rikku and Paine. Talk to all three men near
the hover, and Nhadala will arrive. Talk to her, then tell the pilot you want
to go to the Western Expanse. When you arrive, dig up the yellow X first, then
dig up white X's if you have time. Be back at the hover before time runs out.
If you dig up the yellow X and make it back in time, you successfully complete
the mission and receive 100 gil, an Elixir, and the Still of Night GG. You can
make more digging expeditions to get items, coins, and machina parts. You can
also find up to six Al Bhed Primers.

You'll find Logos and Ormi, but they'll leave so you don't have to fight them.
Pick up the Crimson Sphere 9 they leave behind. Maroda will talk to you on the
way out. Now head back to the upper level and keep following the path. Take
the elevator up.

Walk right until Elma talks to you. You receive a Glass Buckle and the

his story. Don't say "Please, go on." or "Enough, enough!", he'll continue
talking by himself for a while. Shake his hand after he finally stops talking.
Head back down the ravine path and talk to Clasko again. Let him join you
aboard the airship. Go back to the Celsius and talk to Shinra to watch Crimson
Report 1. Talk to Clasko in the Cabin.

Go talk to O'aka in the airship cabin. He will now sell you items. If you buy
enough stuff, 100,000 gil's worth, his debt will be cleared and he'll sell you
recovery items at very cheap prices. You can buy his items and sell them to
Barkeep for a nice profit. It's a fast way to make money.

STRATEGY: In the first part of the battle, he'll use Curse after every three
normal attacks. He'll stop using Curse if YRP are all Cursed. Once his HP
gets below 962, he'll use Damocles Photon after every three attacks. This
attack will kill anyone below 1/2 max HP. Magic Break won't help you but Shell
will reduce the damage, so cast it before you damage him too much. Have a
Black Mage use any elemental magic and he should go down quickly. His attacks
don't use MP so don't bother trying to deplete it.
You get a Sphere Fragment for defeating the boss. You have to proceed directly
to Kilika now, and you won't be able to go back to the airship until the last
mission is complete.

the woods.

Now you can find all the monkeys, and report back to the monkey lady later for
a prize. When you walk by one, you'll hear a noise. Push X to find the
monkey. Monkey 1 is near the southern save point. Go straight north at the
intersection, Monkey 2 is just inside this path. Go back and take the right
path, Monkey 3 is on this branch. Go back to the save point, and go left.
Monkey 4 is before the next fork. Keep going straight left. Monkey 5 is just
before the path turns north. Go north, Monkey 6 is just before the path turns
east. Go south back the way you came, and head north at the intersection.
Monkey 7 and Monkey 8 are on this path before the next intersection. Go north
at the intersection, and turn east. Monkey 9 is just after this turn. Monkey
10 is at the northeast corner of the next intersection. Take the north path.
Take a peek when you are prompted. After the scene, you can find Monkey 11
where you were just standing. Go back south to the intersection and take the
east path. Monkey 12 is right before the next intersection. Go south to get
Monkey 13. After finding the last monkey, go south a bit more, and press O
when you are prompted to jump. Get the Megalixir from the chest. Go straight
north and follow the path. Save at the save point.
Your road is blocked by a series of guards. Say the correct password to
advance, otherwise you have to fight them. It's "Carved Monkey" when the
number of guards is odd, "Craven Monkey" when the number of guards is even. If
you answer each one correct, you'll get a Hi-Potion, Ether, Turbo Ether, and
the Menace of the Deep GG. Head up and it's time for the last boss of this
chapter.

STRATEGY: You can't reduce the damage from Blast Punch. Protect, Shell, Magic
Break, Power Break, none of them make a difference. Power Break and Protect
help against normal attacks and Haymaker, however. Use Darkness Dance with a
Songstress, use a White Mage for Protect and healing, and have a Warrior Power
Break it until it dies. Mech Destroyer is another way to go.

Talk to Shinra and watch the sphere. Brother will give you an Al Bhed Primer.
Talk to Brother. Go to the Engine Room and collect the items from the chests:
Remedy x4, Ether x2, Phoenix Down x5, Potion x8. Go to the Cabin and rest,
then talk to the musicians and tell them you're singing. Push them into the
elevator. If you skipped the Guard the Hypello mission, Tobli will be here
too. If you successfully get him in the elevator, you'll get an Enterprise.
After the scenes, head up to the Bridge. Now you've got a big decision to
make, whether to give the awesome sphere back to the Youth League or New Yevon.
If you're going for 100% story completion, choose Youth League, since the most
you can get with New Yevon is 99%. The choice has a big impact on
scenes/dialogue. Some items you get later are determined by which faction you
choose. I chose New Yevon for this game, so my walkthrough will reflect that.
I'll update the walkthrough with Youth League info on my next game.
Head to Bevelle for a brief scene, then you're called back to the airship. The
Sphere Fragment you got from Zanarkand has been stolen, and you receive
Leblanc's Sphere. Yuna comes up with a plan to get your sphere back, and you
begin the Strip Search? mission.
Guadosalam is the only Hotspot, but you can't enter Leblanc's Chateau without
first finding three syndicate uniforms. You get these from events at
Mt. Gagazet, Bikanel Desert, and Djose Temple. You can get them in any order.
After getting them, simply go to Guadosalam and approach Leblanc's Chateau to
begin the chain of events that will conclude this chapter.

Enter the Agency, and a girl will leave. Follow her outside, but before
talking to her, collect the chests and talk to all the Carnival Suckers and
Desperate Women in the rest of the Highroad. She'll be standing where one of
the Carnival Suckers was sitting, so I hope you already talked to him. If not,
don't worry, he'll be there again after the chocobo mission is done. Agree to
help Calli catch the chocobo. In the next area, follow Rikku and collect
feathers. When she stops and says "it's over there", she's wrong, but a chest
will be there. You'll get different amounts of Chocobo Wings and Chocobo
Feathers depending on how many feathers you've collected. In the South area,
you need to block it several times. In the South End, just follows Rikku's
lead, until Paine says you won't get anywhere by chasing it. Talk to the hover
pilot and enlist his help. You'll finally catch the chocobo, but now Calli is
in danger of being eaten. Head north, and Clasko will buy you some time, two
and a half minutes. Get down to Oldroad, South before time runs out, and
you'll have to fight a familiar boss.

STRATEGY: He's immune to Darkness and Power Break, so Protect is your only
defense against his hard-hitting normal attacks. He's only got 230 MP, so if
you drain it with Target MP or MP Absorb, he won't be able to cast spells
(though he'll still try). Firaga and Flametongue work well for offense.
After the fight, you win the Selene Guard GG. Return to the Highroad, and talk

If you thought Lightning Dodger was fun, you'll love Tower Calibration. Talk
to the Al Bhed twice to begin this mini-game. There are 5 towers in the South
region, and 5 in the North region. The first 9 are numbered in order from
south to north. The 10th one can be found by moving west from tower 8 and
pushing X. Attempt to calibrate each tower at least once, and score 30 on at
least 5 of them, and the Al Bhed in the travel agency will give you the
Samurai's Honor GG if you ask him about your progress. You get prizes in
Chapter 5 based on how many hits you get at each tower, but all the prizes can
be acquired elsewhere. Talk to Cid before leaving. He will be in the South
region if you told him off in Chapter 1. His location is marked with a pink X

Story
-Story Mission: Faking and Entering
Don't do this mission until you are done with everything else you want to do in
Chapter 2. Approach Leblanc's Chateau, and change into the Syndicate uniforms.
Enter the Living Room on the first floor and talk to Logs and Ormi, then go
upstairs and massage Leblanc. If you want the Gold Hairpin, satisfy her on the
first attempt. If you want the Heady Perfume, satisfy her on the second
attempt. Go back to the Living Room and push the switch in the back. Walk
down the path until you are discovered.

STRATEGY: Kill the lackeys first. Protect will reduce the damage from
Supercollider, but you can't do anything about Huggles, so concentrate on
offense.
After the fight, proceed down the hallway and save at the save point. Go
straight at the fork into the room and get the item from the chest. It will be
a Gold Hairpin if you satisfied Leblanc on the first try, otherwise it's a
Heady Perfume. Take the other path and again go straight at the fork into the
room. Take the sphere and watch it. It's Crimson Sphere 10. Logos and Ormi
will attack you yet again.

STRATEGY: Cast Protect, and then focus on Logos first, since he can inflict
status effects.
Go down the path you haven't taken yet. Drop into two pits and activate the
switches there. At the end of the corridor, some spikes will appear. Reverse
course and run away from them, until reaching the other end of the corridor.
The spikes will catch up and you'll see a short scene. Activate the last
switch. Now go back down the corridor to where the spikes came out, and push
the new switch. Go down the new path and enter the room. Guess who attacks
you.
