1) Introduction

This is my first attempt. There is a Dong Zhuo FAQ out there but I
don't feel it shows enough how powerful Dong Zhuo is. That is why
I decide to write another this FAQ. He is also one of my favorite
characters in DW3 universe.

2) Copyright

Feel free to use any information on this faq as long as you don't
change my name. This document is copyrighted by wowwow.

3) Who is Dong Zhuo

Dong Zhuo was a tyrant. In Chang An, he ruled violently. He
also had Lu Bu as his bodyguard. He caused many trouble to the
land. In the end, Lu Bu betrayed him and had him killed. Poor
Dong Zhuo!! I suggest you read any Romance of the Three Kingdoms
novel to know more about him.

4) How is he unlocked?

Finish Hulao Gate scenario in Original mode and you will have him.
In Xtreme mode he is already unlocked (I think.)

5) Why should I use him?

Many people suggest that Dong Zhuo should be played by a DW3 veteran
and I hardly disagree.

Cons:
Slow. His regular musou is horrible. His fourth and fifth weapon
comes with useless stats upgrade. He is a bad guy.

Pros:
Dong Zhuo is one of the easiest character to use in Very Hard
difficulty. With max stats, fourth weapon, and this FAQ, he is
definitely one of the best character in DW3. He can kills archers
instantly. He has very nice crowd control. Good in fighting
any officer. Lu Bu is no longer a threat to him. He also has a
fifth weapon that comes with DEATH element.

6) Move List

Normal move

S - Slash
SS - Slash 2x
SSS - Slash 3x
SSSS - Slash 4x
SSSSS - Slash 5x
SSSSSS - Slash 5x and a Thrust in the end.

Charge move

T - A quick slash. Break enemy's guard.

ST - An uppercut slash. Not useful.

SST - A very quick horizontal slash that will stun
		    your opponents.

SSST - A thrust that will knock people away from you.
Has DEATH element if the fifth weapon equipped.

SSSST(T) - Dong Zhuo slash his opponent into the air.
Then Dong Zhuo will leaps up into the air and
smash them into the ground. Has LIGHTNING
element if the fourth weapon equipped

SSSSST - Shoot an energy wave that will clear crowd in
		    front of him.

Dash Attack - Dong Zhuo swings his swords 270 degree.

Jump Attack - A regular slash. Use this after SSSST(T).

Musou attack - A series of cross-slash followed by a shockwave
that will send people around you flying. The
shockwave will not hurt the target officer.

True Musou attack - Same with regular musou attack, except the
shockwave will hurts the target officer. A great
move but it takes 'ages' to watch the special
effect. I do not like True Musou Attack. It
reduces the damage from regular musou attack.
This musou also has fire elemental.

Power Guard - press S on each attack you received when you
are guarding. This will create some space
between Dong Zhuo and his attackers.

7) Dong Zhuo's Strategy

My ultimate Dong Zhuo's equipment:

Weapon: Grand Star
Lightning Element
Attack +41
Hits 6
HP Max +70
Defense +45
Reach +25

Items: Recommended Value: (for Very Hard)
Tiger Amulet (+25)	+20
Shell Armor (+50)	+40
Elixir (+25)	+15
Speed Scroll (+20)	+16
Buckler

Optional Items: (To replace speed scroll)
Bronze Flask (+15)	+10
Dragon Amulet (+75)	+60

Try to max his stats at Yellow Turban Rebellion and Siege of
Hefei Castle - Wei side, Original Mode.

I won't use his fifth weapon in this guide for two reasons.
First, Dong Zhuo becomes a boring character to play with
because DEATH element makes game easier and you don't need
any strategy for it. Second, I want to show you that Dong
Zhuo is a very-easy-to-use character for anyone without his
fifth weapon.

(PC: Playable character, NPC: Non-playable character)

To get his Grand Star: (Hard Difficulty)

(from Z-Force's Dynasty Warriors 3 FAQ/Walkthrough)
Hu Lao gate stage, Dong Zhuo's side, original mode. Wait for all
of your guys to get killed except for Diao Chan and Lu Bu. Diao
Chan will then defect to the enemy. Pay her back for this
act of treachery by killing her. The special item will appear by
the entry point west of the map. Grab it and finish the stage.

Charge Move:

His SST is one of the best move in the game. It stuns your opponents
in front and behind you. You should use this move as your opening
move if you are fighting against officers with his backups. This move
can be used to escape if you are totally surrounded. When you are
guarding, try to use power guard to create some space between you
and your attackers, so you can stun them without being interrupted.
This move combined with SSSSS is the best way to charge your musou.

With his fourth weapon, SSSST(T) becomes one of the best LIGHTNING
elemental attack and one of the best crowd clearer move in the
game. This should be your primary move if you are fighting an
officer. Another musou refiller.

Regular Musou Strategy:

First let me give you an introduction about Musou Type. There are 5
types of regular musou attack in the game.

'Generic' : This musou hits your opponents off the ground.
Example: Guan Yu, Xiahou Dun, and Zhang Fei.
'Ground' : this musou doesn't hit your opponents off the ground.
Example: Dong Zhuo, Liu Bei, and Sun Jian.
'One-Hit' : This musou only hits your opponents once but deals a
huge amount of damage. It can hits more than one but
it is hard to aim. This is the strongest musou attack
in the game. Example: Gan Ning.
'Projectile' : Shoots beams or projectile weapons many times.
Example: Sima Yi and Zhu Rong.
'Elemental' : Creates massive beams of specific element to hits
your opponents. The only character who has this musou
               is Zhang Jiao.

'Ground' musou is very effective to use against archer. It is the
second strongest musou attack in the game. These are the two reasons
why Dong Zhuo should use it.

Dong Zhuo's musou can kills a group of archers instantly (except in
the final stage.)

Always hold the O button when you use his musou.

A NPC will not counterattack the musou into a deadlock but a PC
will. If you want to musou a PC, you should use SST before
you release it.

If you are totally surrounded by soldiers and guards, don't be panic,
you should laugh because they are digging their own graves.
Punish them with your musou and aim the musou to all directions
violently.

If a NPC is with them, try to refill your musou gauge by hitting
anyone around you. Release the musou only to the NPC and try to
aim the shockwave to the right side or left side of the NPC. If you are
lucky, the shockwave will connect. Repeat this until the NPC dies. This
strategy works well on fighting two or more NPCs between the crowd.
(If you prefer a deadlock you should use this strategy on a PC as well.)

If there is a PC and 2 or more NPCs are with them, try to refill your
musou gauge. Release the musou to any unguarded NPC. After you take all
the NPCs out, it's time to kill some soldiers and guards. And finally
you can handle the PC easily.

The better the elixir you have, The easier the stage to end.

Officer Strategy: (Hard and Very Hard Difficulty)

If there is any Dong Zhuo's Nemesis (Read the next part) between the
soldiers and guards you are fighting, you should try to run or lure
any of them into 1-1 duel. And if there are two or more PCs between
the crowd, try to escape or lure any of them into 1-1 duel. Also don't
fight two (or more) officers that come withoud their aids alone.
Lure any of them into 1-1 duel is the best and modest way.

Everytime you knock back an officer, try to after him and sneak
behind him, whenever he/she stands, continue your attack. Repeat
these until he/she dies.

If you are fighting an officer near the gate, try to push him into
the area where replacement soldiers come from. Then keep hitting him
whenever he try to return to the map. Use your musou as well.

While your soldiers are keeping an officer busy, try to sneak
behind him/her and attack, then run and wait until he/she is busy,
and repeat same thing.

If you win a deadlock, try to stun your opponents.

8) Dong Zhuo's Nemesis

This section will show you who are the toughest officers for Dong Zhuo.
They could have you killed in seconds. Lu Bu is no longer a threat.
That is why i do not include him in the list.

Officers: Comments:
- Sun Shan Xiang - She is by far the most hardest officer to beat.
Use power guard against all of her moves because
		   his 6th charge is unblockable.

- Gan Ning - He can be the most dangerous guy if he keep using
his musou. Without his musou, he is a wimp.

- Xu Huang - He is fast and his weapon has very long range. It is
hard to run away from him.

- Xiahou Dun - He has the fastest counterattack in the game. So be
careful if you try to use charge attack. Make sure
it hits him. Use SST before you start any combo.

- Gongsun Zan - I hate this guy. He always tries to interrupt your
fight with someone in Hu Lao gate scenario. His true
musou is insane and sometimes it could have you
killed in a single shot if you are not lucky.

9) Very Hard Difficulty Guide

Patience is the key to survival. You need to turtle a lot. You might
want to equip buckler to prevent guard stumble. Buckler works perfect for
True Musou Cheat.

If you have lower health, never give up, try to find guard captain or
major around you, kill them and grab the buns. Don't think Dong Zhuo is a
useless character just because you will be most likely end up with lower
health. The same rule apply if you play using Guan Yu. You will notice
that Guan Yu is not an invincible warrior anymore (try to play Guan Yu's
escape.) IMHO, Dong Zhuo's musou mode is one of the hardest musou mode
in the game plus he is the main target.

When you have lower health and there are many archers and you hardly
want to escape, sure you can run zigzag. But running zigzag won't
guarantee your safety. If an arrow hits you, there is a high possibility
for another arrow or maybe a lot of arrows will hit you as well and they
could have you killed. Jump is the best way to escape from the area.
If an arrow hits you while you are jumping, a possibility for another
arrow will hits you is 1%. You should use jump if you are fighting
archers. Do not try to kill them using regular combo, use musou instead.

Always help your troubled officers (if there is Lu Bu, always save Lu Bu
first) Always protect your gate captains!! The troubled officer in the
closest location are preferrable.

If you know there will be many archers in front of you, have your officer
or soldiers run into frontline first, let them be your shield, then you
can sneak behind the archers to kill them.

You should fight any PC who brings his/her backups close to your officers
or soldiers. You might want to lure him/her into 1-1 fight. This should
be easy for you. You could try to kill his/her guards first.

When you are fighting, sometimes there are a group of archers around. If
and only if there are more than 6 archers, then quickly kill them.
Otherwise, just concentrate on defeating the officer.

Always aim the lead officer, not the sub officer. If you get a chance
to kill the lead officer (the officer who has sub officers) then do
not waste it. It is hard to kill all officers on Very Hard Difficulty.
With their leader defeated, all sub-officers will retreat.

Aim for the enemy gate captains, especially the one that produces
archers.

Always predict when the officer will use his/her musou.

Mount any horse you can find. Dong Zhuo is slow and he needs it real bad
to get into another area faster.

Do we need bodyguards? No. definitely no. Dong Zhuo doesn't need any
bodyguards to help him win any stage. Try it. It should be fun.
Besides, this will shows you that Dong Zhuo is truly one of the best
characters in the game.

If you are playing free mode, there are some stages in the Xtreme mode
that are impossible to beat without help from the second player even if
you use DEATH element. Example: Zhang Jiao's Yi Ling. If you can beat
the stage alone with or without DEATH element, I salute you and I will
retire from DW world.

My walkthrough is simple but covered the best strategy you can have to
finish the stage easily. And I assume you have mastered Dong Zhuo.
I won't teach you on how to beat any officer on each stage. It is
covered in part 8, Dong Zhuo's Strategy.

I. Hu Lao Gate

This stage could become one of the hardest stages for Dong, depending on
your luck. First go to the right of the map, you will meet Sun Jian's
army. Kill Han Dang, then Sun Jian. Grab the horse and kill the guard
captain for the bun. If you like you can kill Cheng Pu before you deal
with Sun Jian, but it is not recommended because time is important here.

Quickly go to Fen Shui gate. Kill Xiahou Dun, and then team up with Zhang
Liao to beat Cao Ren and Cao Hong. Then help Lu Bu to kill Yuan Shu.
Next, kill Cao Cao. If you are trying to kill Cao Cao before helping Lu Bu,
he probably lose the battle and this is not good because you just lose
your primary defensive weapon on this stage. Now go to Diao Chan. If you
are lucky, she might be alive, now with Lu Bu, help Diao Chan to destroy
Liu Bei's gang (including Gongsun Zan). Then make your way to Yuan Shao
and his gang. Kill Yan Liang and Wen Chou. And finally, kill Yuan Shao

WORST SITUATION

By the time you made it to Fen Shui gate, Zhang Liao and Gao Shun are
probably defeated. All you have to do is quickly kill Xiahou Dun. He
can be a threat if you leave him alive. Then go to Lu Bu, kill Yuan Shu,
and team up with him and be ready to fight a swarm of officers and
soldiers. Lu Bu will give them the toughest fight by using his stomp a
lot. Always use Lu Bu as your shield. Let them become busy with Lu Bu
then lure each officer into 1-1 fight. The officers who team up against
you usually are Cao's family, Yuan Shao, and Guan Yu. And if you are not
lucky, Gongsun Zan will also join. If Yuan Shao's army is there, find and
kill archers in the area before you continue your fight. It is hard but
it is not impossible.

If Lu Bu is defeated before you kill them all, you are in danger. I
suggest you to run to Hu Lao gate and fight near the long narrow path.
Your remaining soldiers will provide you a solid defense. You also have
a group of archers as well.

II. Battle at Guan Du

You are safely hiding in one of the outpost. But this will not guarantee
your victory!! Because all of your officers will be defeated if you do
not help them, and Cao's force will find if the castle is empty and they
start looking for you!!!

This stage is probably the easiest stage you will have. First, kill Xu
Zhu. Then kill Xu Huang. Let Zhang Liao's unit destroyed to trigger the
castle wall collapse event (Why? I let you find it out yourself). Help
Lu Bu to kill Xiahou Dun. Kill any NPC around. Lead your remaining
force to Cao's camp. Kill any NPC you meet. Clear the gate. Then punish
Cao Cao.

STAGE CHEAT

Let the wall collapse, now Zhang He and Xiahou Yuan will attack the
castle. Try to pass Zhang He, Dong will say something like 'Help! is
there nobody around to help me?' then stay in one of the outpost at
the upper area of the map. Some remaining officers from Cao's camp
with their backups will wait outside your post. Kill them all. Now it
is only Cao Cao alone in his camp. This way you will not need to fight
any PC.

III. Raid on Rogue Fortress

This is the most boring stage. Enter the fort from the northwest gate.
go to the north and kill Lt. Commander. Now go to south and kill another
Lt. Commander. then make your way to northeast. There is another Lt.
Commander on your way, kill him. Then continue to northeast. there is
a ladder. Go up and make your way to the left, and then down to south
of the map. Jump to the left side of the map (the middle area) whenever
your position in the map is in the middle of the fort. Kill the final
Lt. commander. The final door will be open. Now enter the room. Dian Wei
Unit will be appear. Now make your way to outside of the fort, southern
area. Another scene and Xu Zhu unit will appear. Kill him. Now go to
Dian Wei and kill him.

Strategy:
This stage can be tough. Always help your soldiers to clean the rogue
and don't worry about archers. Just keep fighting.

IV. Battle at He Fei

This is hard but not the hardest. Kill the NPC in front of you,
then go to the middle, kill any sub officer in the middle
area. If you could, try to kill Lu Meng as well before an ambush event.
Lu Meng will lure Lu Bu. This will trigger an ambush event. The only
way to win this battle is to fight them close to Lu Bu. If you are
lucky Lu Bu's morale will raise to 6 or 7 stars. Keep fighting and
killing any officer who is around you while waiting your reinforcement
arrives (Li Ru's unit). Now leave Lu Bu, kill Taishi Ci, and help Zhang
Liao to kill Ling Tong and Zhu Ran. Now Zhang Liao will provide you
with his remaining force. Make your way to Sun Ce's defensive hold.
Kill Lu Xun. And finally it is time to deal with Sun Ce and his
remaining force. For the record, I usually kill more than 1000 people
in this stage.

V. Battle at Tong gate

This is very hard because you only have 30 minutes to finish the battle.
Kill all officers in the front of the fort then go to the bridge in
the middle right of the map, kill all officers there. Then Zhang Fei's
unit will arrive as reinforcements and Ma Chao will retreat into fort.
Kill Zhang Fei (he should be in the front of the fort), and then try to
lure Ma Chao into the area near the bridge in the middle left of the map
and fight him there. This way, no tower archers will interupt you.

VI. Wu Zhang Plain

This battle is hard if you are trying to get Dong's fifth weapon. But
if you only try to finish the stage, then it is one of the easiest
stages you can have besides Guan Du. Do not worry about catapult attack.
First go straight up, find and kill Liao Hua. Then kill any archer around.
Wei Yan should be around the area where you meet Liao Hua. Kill him. Then
kill Zhao Yun who is in the upper right area. By the time you kill Zhao
Yun. The reinforcement should arrive now. Help Li Ru to kill Ma Dai, then
stay in the upside down L-shape area and help Wang Fang and Zhao Chen to
kill Ma Chao, Jiang Wei, and Zhang Fei. Now help Niou Fu (if he is still
alive) to kill Pang Tong and his sub-officer and clear the gate near there.
Lead your remaining force to Liu Bei's camp. Kill any NPC you meet. Kill the
archers and gate captains. Kill Zhuge Liang, and finally
kill Liu Bei.

VII. Battle at Chi Bi

This can be the hardest musou mode in the game if you try to have Lu Bu
as your final opponent. As soon as I know how to do it, I will update this
part

Easy way:
Go to the west bank. Clear the gate. Kill Lu Bu before he entered any ship.
With Lu Bu dies, the stage becomes easier. Diao Chan's unit will mobilize.
Wait for her and be ready to teach her a lesson. Kill any officers who
try to mess with you while you are waiting.
