1. Background
-------------
Sun Quan (pronounced 'Soon Qu-won')
Lived 182 AD to 252 AD
Family:
Father: Sun Jian
Brothers: Sun Ce, Sun Shao
Sister: Sun Shang Xiang
Bio:
[Game Excerpt]
The First emperor of the Wu Kingdom. He is the second son of Sun Jian and
younger brother of Sun Ce. He succeeds the family line, following Sun Ce's
sudden death. Of his younger brother, Sun Ce is to have said, "You believe
that your offense is strong, but in actuality, it is your defense which is
stronger." At the battle of Chi Bi, Sun Quan met the much larger forces of
Cao Cao and managed to emerge victorious.
------------
2. Unlocking
------------
To unlock Sun Quan beat the Wu Musou Mode Chapter 3 with any character on any
difficulty level. If you want someone with a similar fighting style, play as
Sun Jian until then.
-----------
3. Overview
-----------
Why would you want to play Sun Quan, you ask? Well for one he was the first
emperor of the Wu Kingdom. Not enough for you? Well then he is also one of
the better sword users in the game, he is fairly well-rounded but not the best,
but still worth playing.
Here's a breakdown of his stats:
Scale:
Great
Good
Fair
Poor
Bad
Main Stats:
-----------
Life: Good, maxed out it is a little over the halfway mark without the peacock
urn, with a good level peacock urn, you will be fine.
Musou: Fair, good sized bar, coupled with a decent attack.
Attack: Great, all most maxed with a good tiger amulet, can give out one hell
of a punch when he needs too.
Defense: Great, can take a punch as good as he deals them.
Secondary Stats:
----------------
Speed: Fair, not fast, not slow, not bad.
Reach: Fair, he uses a sword so it doesn't reach very far, and most of his
attacks have low reach as well.
Jump: Good, he can ONLY jump TWO times his height. Don't worry to much about it
jump isn't that important.
Bow Attack: Fair? I don't know how to effectively test this, but I'm sure
sooner or later someone will make a FAQ with a break down for all characters,
but it gets it's job done when it needs too.
Bow Defense: Fair, archers aren't as big of a problem in DW4 then they were in
DW3, you will be fine.
Mounted Attack: Fair, Sun Quan uses generic mounted attacks, so you won't be
using this one to much, mainly just as you run by.
Mounted Defense: Fair, now with the shadow harness this stat isn't pointless,
but it's not that big of a deal, since Sun Quan isn't a good fighter on a horse
anyway.
Other:
------
Voice Acting: Fair, he sounds WAY better then he did in DW3, none of that
stupid whiney sound every time he gets hit. The acting itself isn't too bad
even though it is brought to you by the same guy who did terrible jobs as Gan
Ning and Sun Ce, guess he got paid for this guy.
Dueling: Good, well it all depends on how good at dueling you are. Use Sun Quan
right and you'll be kicking ass left and right. (wow, that was terrible ;)
Some Tips: Start off blocking and either try to use a reversal, or wait for
their attack to be over then use your charge 1, after that use a charge 3
followed up by a charge 5, they should be hurting at this point,
use your jump charge, knock them down then finish them off.
Repeat until dead.
A Blast orb isn't needed but will help out immensely on some of the tougher
duels.
-------------
4. Moves List
-------------
Key:
----
S = Square
T = Triangle
C = Circle
Basic:
------
Dash Attack, forward for 7 steps + S: A wide swipe from right to left, good
range but he just stops and swings. Very good against the small groups of 5
you come across, but try not to use on bigger crowds.
Jump Attack, X + S: Quick downward vertical slice, kinda hard to aim, and most
of the time will only hit one person. It won't do much damage but will knock
them over. Useful if you've just blown an officer away, but don't have enough
time to run around to his back.
Jump Charge, X + T: Sun Quan does a forward flip then puts his sword in his
right hand and and slams it into the ground. Be aware you will fail about 1/2
the time you try to use it. It is best use if you've just recovered from a
fall, or are trying to get on a horse.
Musou, C: Sun Quan does quick long reach right to left, left to right slashes
(hold down for repeated strikes) that cover a large area, including his back,
around him. He ends it with a horizontal swing, that mainly covers his left.
Fairly decent against crowds, but best utilized against officers.
True Musou, C + Red health: Same as above, but with a longer reach and the fire
element attached. At the end he does another swipe the opposite way.
Raise Bow, R1: hold on a target without firing to zoom, X, S, And C all do
generic character attacks.
Mounted Attack, Horse + S: Generic stuff, he swings his sword from side to side
starting on the right, it can last for the max hits of your weapon.
Mounted Charge, Horse + T: Same as above, but takes longer to do and will only
be 1 swipe per side, pretty useless, even on the shadow.
Mounted Musou, Horse + C: Same as charged attack, but can be done for as long
as your musou bar lasts, keep in mind the horse will pause for a second when
your done.
Regular Charge, C: A grappling move. Quan will grab whoever with his left
hand, hold them, then kick them up and quickly slash twice. Doesn't do much
damage but blows them away.
Combo:
------
Button Mashing, Sx6: Quan will start with a upward diagonal left to right
swipe. Followed by a right to left then left to right pair of slashes. Then a
upward diagonal right to left swing, then a low horizontal left to right
slash. Finally a diagonal downward right to left swing that will cover the
back, with more reach on the left.
Charge 2, ST: After the upward diagonal left to right swipe, Sun Quan will do
a violent slash straight upward. This sends the target into the air, where you
can follow up with a midair slash. Useful only against single targets.
Charge 3, Sx2T(T): After the opening slash, he preforms a right to left swing,
then slashes in a 'X' pattern, if you continue to hit triangle you will do 4
more slashes. Either way it ends with a horizontal slash, followed by a
two-handed overhead cleave. Very useful against officers and crowds alike,
just be aware that your back isn't covered.
Charge 4, Sx3T: After the pair of horizontal slashed, Quan will do a quick
slash downward, and pull one right back up. As he pulls his sword back it will
cover his back. This move as good reach and works well vs. crowds.
Charge 5, Sx4T(T): After the second upward swing Quan will do a upward swing
that sends the target flying into the air. You can follow this up with midair
slash. If you hit triangle again in the air, you will do your jumping charged
attack. Very good when fighting officers, use this on him, and watch as he
and his guards drop.
Charge 6, Sx5T: After the low horizontal swing, he will swing back the
opposite way, this time releasing a wide wave of energy. This wave has good
range and can carry the element of your choice, easy to aim, good on the crowd.

How to Unlock Sun Quan's Level 10 Weapon:
-----------------------------------------
Basic Stuff:
-Set the game to hard.
-The current weapon must be level 9.
-Keep Morale high.
-You can play with 2 players, but Sun Quan must fulfill all requirements.
-The second player *CAN NOT* be Sun Jian.
-Free or Musou mode.
Sun Quan's level 10 weapon
Stage: The Battle of He Fei - Wu side
I recommend the Red Hare Saddle for this stage, as you will need a fast horse,
you can use Shadow if you want, but the faster the better.
As you start, go straight and hug the wall to your left. You will run into a
guard captain, take him out go inside the gate and take a left. Stop once you
get near a gate, kill the captain. Cheng Yu will should be near, take him out
and keeping killing regulars through Zhang Liao's retreat message. Once the
bridge collapses, go and protect Sun Jian. Hunt down and kill Yue Jin and Li
Dian (watch for archers in this area). Kill regulars and try to raise your
morale. Eventually Sun Jian will jump over the bridge, now get on your horse
and haul ass to Sun Jian, use the same way you came in. About the time you get
to where your originally started, Zhang Liao will ambush Sun Jian. Find him and
kill him(required for weapon).
About 30 seconds after that, Lu Xun will show up and Sun Jian will tell the
army to charge. Follow them north, as your ride, Gan Ning shows up in a
cut-scene filled with nothing but cocky poses.
Continue north and the enemy will get reinforcements. Xiahou Yuan
(required kill for weapon) and Zhange He will both be right in your path.
Lure them to your side of the bridge, you know right next to about 20 friendly
archers. Show them how it feels to have their combos broken up every two
seconds, they will fall surprisingly fast. Go to the gate that guards this
sides entrance to the middle, kill the guard and take the south route around
the lake. Once on the other side (by the first gate you clear when you
started) kill Cao Zhang. Now quickly run past Xu Huang, and go and fight near
Gan Ning. Keep fighting regulars to boost morale. Soon Man Chong will show
up followed by Xu Huang and Jia Xu, kill all three of them and continue
fighting your way north. Take the nearby gate and kill Xiahou Dun(required
for weapon).
You should get the message:
"Sun Quan has gained the ultimate weapon Master Wolf."
(if you didn't check below).
Now, to finish the stage. Continue north and kill Cao Hong and the gate
captain. Take a left and kill the guard, after going in the fort kill Xun You
and take out the gate. Kill Sima Zhao and regulars until you have pretty good
morale and your troops go up the platform that Cao Cao is on. Take out his
guards first, then go after him, if you keep your morale high and attack when
your troops get up there you shouldn't have a problem. If you need health
there is a full heal in the pot near the middle of the platform and the
standard +100 near the gate captain.
Quick step by step:
-Get into middle, wait for Zhang Liao to retreat.
-After the bridge is destroyed kill Li Dian .
-Kill Zhang Liao after his ambush.
-Follow the charge and kill Xiahou Yuan.
-Cross map and kill Xiahou Dun.
-Got Weapon Message.
If you didn't get the message it could be because:
-Sun Quan didn't *PERSONALLY* kill Zhang Liao, Xiahou Yuan, or Xiahou Dun.
-The game isn't on hard.
-Your current weapon isn't level 9.
Weapon Info:
Master Wolf
+53 Attack
6 Hits Max
Can use orb element regardless of musou bar.
--------
6. Items
--------
In Dynasty Warriors 4 you have a harness slot, a orb slot, and a number of item
slots. The number of item slots is dependent on your rank and character. At
rank MAX Sun Quan has 5 total.
Item Slots x5: 2 slots initial, 3rd unlocked at Rank 12, 4th unlocked at Rank 7,
5th unlocked at Rank MAX.
Recommended for normal use:
---------------------------
Harness: Shadow or Storm (preferred first)
Orb: Lighting, Vorpal, or Fire
Items: Tortoise Amulet
Peacock Urn
Tiger Amulet
Elixir or Dragon Amulet
Wind Scroll or Way of the Musou
Orbs:
-----
All 3 work well, but lighting really helps his crowd clearing abilities.
Vorpal is good all around, and Fire is just as solid. Ice is all right, but you
shouldn't consider using blast and poison much. Blast is all right if your
trying to level your weapon and great for some duels, but poison should
be skipped altogether.
Items:
------
The ones listed are for a well rounded character, if your going to stay on a
horse the whole time you might want to take a horned helmet and some calavery
armour (useful... kinda :). If one of your items is at a much higher level
then another, use that one instead. But any setup should include both the
Peacock Urn and the Tortoise Amulet, as they will really help keep you alive.

7. Models

4. Unlock: Rank 7

without the stupid shoes.
