2) Intro
--------
Welcome to the comprehensive list of weapons and armor for the .hack games!
.hack is a four-volume RPG game from Bandai. You play the role of Kite, a new
player in the online gaming system known as The World. Kite is barely
introduced to the online gaming experience when his friend Orca runs into a
serious game problem that leaves him in a coma. You follow Kite on his
adventures as he learns what exactly happened to Orca, how to help him, and
what to do about the forces behind it all. Oh, yeah... and explore dungeons,
fight monsters, and do all of the other usual RPG things in between.
The .hack game is divided into four parts. This guide covers the weapons and
armor to be found in part 2, .hack//Mutation. Since part 2 is a continuation
of part 1, .hack//Infection, all of the equipment from that part is included
here on the chance that you carried it with you. As the series progresses
into parts 3 and 4, .hack//Outbreak and .hack/Quarantine, all of this equipment
will carry over into those volumes. (Those games aren't out yet. Once they
are, this guide will be updated with new stuff, and posted to their respective
FAQ/guide sites - if I'm insane enough to keep this up that long...)

The format is a good one, but takes a lot of lines per item, and misses some
info like sell cost. My personal notes have one line per item, but some lines
stretch for more than 200 spaces! Not good for text display. So here's a
rearranged compromise:

Skills - the various special moves, magic, and other effects the item casts.
Weapons are separated by character class, then level of weapon.
Armors are separated by type (head/body/hand/leg) and by grade
(light/medium/heavy).
Rare equipment are separated to reflect their unique standings. Eventually,
they will be added to the common lists as their upgrade paths are added.

Equipment with missing or blank information are pieces I haven't found yet.

classes.

16) Finding and Losing Weapons and Armor

Okay, now you know what they are and what they do. So how do you get them???
And once you have them, what do you do with them??? There are a bunch of ways
to get and dispose of equipment, often depending on the specific piece.
Some are common methods, and are everywhere you look. Others are only possible
through one method. A few can only be done in one place at one time, and are
never available again!
16.1) Shops
-----------
This is the easiest method for dealing with stuff. For buying, the weapon
shop in each Root Town has a selection of weapons and armor, but what's
available is sparse and weak. These items are really only meant to initially
equip your characters as you reach each server for the first time, assuming
you don't already have superior equipment from your other adventuring.
Selling is much easier. Any equipment you have can be sold, weak or strong,
common or rare. Even better, you can sell equipment at any shop in Town,
regardless of whether they sell weapons or not. In return, of course,
you get money! However, money has limited use in .hack, since you can use it
only to buy items from the Root Town shops. This may not require much funds
if you only buy essentials like Fortune Wires and Resurrects, or it may be
heavily active for you if you use a lot of spell scrolls. Whichever way you

balance of money in your Root Town account.

the amount of if you sell them. (This is a general game rule.)

16.3) Gifts

Other players will occasionally give you items! Usually these are heavily
plot related, and are achieved as a reward of sorts for cleaning out a
new or particularly nasty dungeon. The gifts are usually Key Items rather
than equipment, but occasionally they're valuable and unique rare items.
Examples include Mimiru handing you (appropriately) Mimiru's Sword, and
Wiseman handing you the Spark Sword.

16.5) Gott Statues
------------------
Most dungeons have a Gott Statue at the bottom, with the valuable items for
the dungeon. That's the point of making the journey into the dungeon, after
all!
Opening a Gott Statue will get you three items: typically one higher-level
piece of equipment and two treasures. The exact items you get will vary, and
are selected from a list of 5-7 items related to the field/dungeon's level, so
what you get can't be directly guaranteed. However, most dungeons will restock
the Gott statue (and the monsters!) if you gate out to the Root Town and then
return to the dungeon for another trip. Multiple trips can usually net you
the specific item you want, if you know that dungeon offers it.
Not all dungeons will restock, though.
Dungeons with rare and unique items typically will not restock after the first
visit. These are the fields/dungeons marked by special keyword sets inside
and outside of the game. Additional trips through these dungeons will find
an empty Gott Statue room.
Plot-related dungeons come in various forms. Some have no Gott Statues at all.
Some have the Gott Statue in a room behind a boss monster. Since you invariably
gate back to the Root Town after fighting a boss, you have to go back through
the dungeon a second time just to get at the statue once. In these cases, even
if the Gott Statue held common items, it will not restock, and will be empty
after you've opened it.
