Welcome fellow Ravens to my Color Scheme FAQ/Guide. As I have looked over many
posts in the GameFAQS message boards, I have discovered that Color Schemes are
one of the two most ignored parts of this game. In my own opinion of course.
And as for myself, my "skills" in Armored Core have always been mediocre at
best and I find myself in the Garage more than the Missions or Arena. I find
that having an AC that looks good adds a little to the game play, it has no
direct effect of course, but looking good in battle was one of my priorities.
Because that is the whole point of Armored Core - Customization, to be able to
tinker for hours on end with your AC. I have always made new Color Schemes,
ever since Armored Core : Project Phantasma I have made at least five original
Color Schemes per game. But enough about me, this FAQ/Guide was created to
help others to look good in the heat of battle. I'm including some Arena Color
Schemes as a starting point as well as Color Scheme Creation Tips and Personal
Color Schemes from those who choose to share. I hope this FAQ/Guide will help
those who like to mess around with how their AC LOOKS as well as performs.

- Part C - Color Scheme Creation Tips -

1 - Always Experiment
You never know if you'll make a nifty Color Scheme unless you tinker around
with the Color Scheme. And if you do find a good Color Scheme, then try to
adjust the Shade of each Color, the Colors may work even better if they were
lighter or darker. This is my ground rule, I always tinker until it's perfect.
2 - Go In With A Plan
You will have a better chance to make a cool Color Scheme if already have an
idea of what you want it to look like. Such as, use your favorite Color. More
often than not your Color Scheme will share some aspect of your favorite Color,
whether it be Shade, opposite of, or related Color. Or even a combination of
Colors that you have already selected. And if you color your AC by it's
Weapons then plan on using the CAMO Pattern, it tends to work out better that
way than if you leave it on Normal.
3 - Don't Color, Design
It might be easier to create a Color Scheme if you "design" your AC rather than
color it. Example: When I color one of my ACs, I look at it in "layers". The
Base represents the inner most portion of the AC. Aid would be additional
Armor that has been added to the AC. Optional would be even more Armor added
to the Aid Armor. Simple, no? This "design" is incorporated into many of my
Color Schemes including my Trade Mark Color Scheme, Dragoon. I would then make
the Base some sort of generic Color, but use what you will. I would then color
Aid and Optional the same Color, a Color that would go along with but not the
same Color as Base. But instead of stopping there I would either make Optional
twice the Shade of Aid, or Aid half the Shade of Optional. (Example. Aid -
100,50,40 / Optional - 200,100,80) Now, as for Detail and Joint. I will
usually leave Joint and even 100 Gray Color because they're ... well ... Joints
and I will only color them to show intense Energy, like they're "glowing with
power". And I know that AC fans are VERY anti-Gundam because let's face it
they ARE different "Mech Universes", but because of Gundam I treat Detail as
(For lack of a better explanation.) "lenses" that cover portions of the AC that
shows the Energy running through the AC. Yes, I know how strange it sounds.
But this isn't the only Design I follow, another recent Design is my Skeleton
Design. I have made a "Bone" Color and I Color the AC as such to represent a
Skeleton, Base would be the bone and the rest would be Black because Skeletons
have no meat on their bones. But as always, Monochromatic (Same Color,
different Shades.) is always a good design to go with.
4 - Know Which Colors Fit
It's good to know exactly which Colors fit together the best. I have found
that opposites do attract in Color Schemes. Red/Green, Orange/Blue,
Yellow/Purple, White/Black, and though they are not exactly opposites
Gold/Silver can make pretty good Color Scheme. Also, you'll find that "Hot"
Colors (Red, Orange, Yellow) fit together well as do the "Cool" Colors (Green,
Blue, Purple). I have also found that Gold fits well with Colors that have Red
in them, and the same is for Silver and Colors with Blue in them.
5 - Know Your Shade
A small detail, but keep an eye on how bright your Colors are. If they are too
bright then it looks like your AC just became a giant light bulb, but at the
same time if they are too dark then it looks like Tinted Black. But it is up
to you, I just thought I should warn you if you want a specific Shade of a
Color.
6 - Know A Palette
It is good to have some Colors to start off on, many if not all of my Color
Schemes have started with my Palette of Colors. But once again it is up to
you, these are just guidelines to start with. Here is my little Palette:
Red - Increase the Red Bar
Orange - Green is half of Red
Yellow - Green is equal to Red
Green - Increase the Green Bar
Blue - Increase the Blue Bar
Purple - Red is half of Blue
Black - All Bars close or at 0
Grey - All Bars close or at 100
White - All Bars close or at 200
These are just my basic Colors, now for the more precise non-basic Colors:
Gold - 200,180,100
Silver - 115,130,145
Rust - 65,17,0
Sand - 100,85,50
Mint Green - Blue is half of Green
Cyan - Green is equal to Blue
Bone - 200,190,150
Metallic Colors - Put the Color you want made into a Metallic Color to 70 and
the other two Colors at 50
And that is it, there is my Palette of Colors that I start with when making
Color Schemes.
