If you need to find something quickly, press and hold CTRL (Control), then
press F button. This will bring up 'Find and Replace' box. In it type the
word you're looking for and you should be taken to it immediately. This is
much faster than scrolling through entire guide.
For your convenience I've inserted special search codes near every section to
help you easily hop on to that section by using search code provided. Each
search code will appear only twice in whole guide - thus getting stray hits
will be impossible.

===============================================================================
===============================================================================
Hello! I am Damir Kolar and I welcome you to my new project. To cut time while
waiting for FF12, I've decided to cover Wild Arms the 4th Detonator. This guide
is based on both Japanese and US versions of the game.
It was released in March 2005, and it was until a month ago when a friend of
mine (Ken Zhao) recommended the game to me. So I ordered it - when I got it, I
completed it for the first time four days later. And now...
Wild Arms the 4th Detonator guide!
Now let me to address some things:
- Picture coverage - I have a TV Tuner, thus enabling me to play games directly
onto PC. Meaning? Since the game is fairly simple in regards to puzzles, all
of them can be explained with words rather nicely. I focused on taking pics
of all the treasure chests and items that are obtained thru events or by
searching on the screen in towns.
- Spoiler issue - I'm the player of the game, just like you (who is reading
this guide) are. First time I've played through the game was completely by
myself - therefore nothing was spoiled for me. All the story elements
that were supposed to surprise me had such effect. Hence why I do not want
include any spoilers (except names of cities, dungeons and NPCs you must
address to continue the storyline).
- Usage of abbreviations. If you've glanced over some of my other guides, you
see that long ago I've grown accustomed to using abbreviations for certain
words. Old habits die hard...
Are you ready? Power up your PS2, open the disc tray, pop in WA4 DVD, close the
disc tray, wait for Media Vision logo to appear, hit Start button, and then
select second option from the left, followed by picking top option.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Quick Tips On Importing
In order to play a Japanese game for the PS2, you'll need a Japanese PS2. I do
not recommend any other method such as the mod chip. You can get a Japanese PS2
at the following sites:
liksang.com
play-asia.com
japanvideogames.com
ncsx.com
If you live in North America, you DO NOT need a power converter. A Japanese
PS2 is all you need. If you live in Europe, you will need one.
As for memory cards and controllers, you don't need Japanese ones. Unlike the
PS2 which has region locks, memory cards and controllers do not have them,
therefore it can be said they are region free. This applies to most other
accessories unless it's stated otherwise. So, once again, a Japanese PS2 is
all you need.
Back on the game, you will need a Japanese version of WA4. The game and the
console need to be the same region.
To get yourself a copy of WA4 (Japanese version), you can try the above sites
as well.

===============================================================================
07.) HOW TO BEGIN - G0700
===============================================================================
===============================================================================
After you have inserted WA4 disc in PS2, wait for few official logos to go by
before title screen appears. Once you're prompted to hit Start button, do so
for memory card screen to appear. It will scan both memory card slots for any
possible WA4 data (in case you've played before) and offer these options (from
left to right):
LOAD - This option allows you to continue the game from previously saved
data. Select [Load], then select the data you wish to load. You will
be asked for confirmation, so select [Yes] and loading is complete.
NEW GAME - This option will allow you to start a brand new game. Watch the
introduction scene and after a while you will have the control in
your hands. Happy gaming!
CONVERT - If you have a save from Wild Arms: Alter Code F on one of your
memory cards, use this option to convert that save into a New Game
with certain bonuses. See "Section 12" for information on what are
the bonuses you can get.
EX FILE - Meet 9 different requirements during your gameplay in order to
unlock special features. Pick this option and then select the save
you wish to check - game will load it and scan what requirements
have been met, then inform you of your success so far via a special
screen. Press Start after you're done examining.
Oh, before you forget - you will need a memory card to be able to save your
progress. It is highly improbable (though possible) you will beat this game in
one sitting, and being able to save progress on memory card is invaluable. How
does one save anyway? During your quest you will find glowing spheres on a
pedestal - these are called Break Points. Stand near one and press Circle to
bring up a menu, then pick first option to advance to Save screen. Choose
memory card slot, and then select a spot you would like to save. You need at
least 27KB of space on your memory card to make one save slot. If data already
exists on the spot you wish to save, you will be asked if you want to overwrite
the previous data.
MAKE SURE YOU SAVE EARLY AND THAT YOU SAVE OFTEN! You might as well keep
multiple saves around, just in case something goes horribly wrong - by having
more than one save, you can reload and try to beef yourself up.
As for memory card, it's region free which means that if you're playing WA4
Japanese version with a Japanese PS2 or a NA/PAL PS2 with modchip or any other
method, you don't need a Japanese PS2 memory card. Either Japanese, NA or PAL
PS2 memory card is fine.

===============================================================================
08.) THREE GAME MODES - G0800
===============================================================================
===============================================================================
WA4 consists of three main modes. They're briefly explained in this section.
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
-------------------------------- ACTIVE FIELD ---------------------------------
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
Active field will be used quite a lot. In this field you walk around in a town
or a dungeon, talk to various NPC for clues on where to go next (sometimes
getting an item from them as well), examine barrels and such for hidden items,
examine treasure chests, solve puzzles, go crazy shopping for items or weapons,
and so on.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
TREASURE CHESTS
Regarding treasure chests, they come in four varieties.
BROWN CHEST - the regular one, can be opened straight away
GREY CHEST - find a bomb nearby and bring it to the chest; activate the bomb
and let it explode while you're near the chest; this will cause
it to creak open, so all you need to do is claim the contents
BLUE CHEST - requires a Duplo to open
RED CHEST - there's 13 of them in the game, and they can be located in
several ways:
- load ACF save, and you will see red chests as you progress
- obtain Detector from final dungeon, and then press L2 when on
same floor as red chest to uncover it
- play EX New Game, and you will see red chests as you progress
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
BREAK POINTS
Regarding Break Points, they come in three varieties.
GREEN BP - usually found in towns; offers "Save", "Modify ARM", and "Meeting"
GREY BP - usually found in dungeons; offers "Save", "Modify ARM", and "Break"
(not all grey BP can be purified)
WHITE BP - result of purifying grey BP in a dungeon; offers "Save", and "Modify
ARM"
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
TOOLS (or GOODS in Japanese version)
There's a variety of tools Jude can use while crawling around.
SWORD - can be swung repeatedly by pressing the tools button in quick
succession
- used to activate switches and break smashable objects
- breaks if third-in-succession slash hits a solid obstacle and
becomes Broken Sword
BROKEN SWORD - press tools button and Jude will throw the handle
- used to activate certain switches out of reach
WOODEN SWORD - can be swung repeatedly by pressing the tools button in quick
succession
- used to activate switches and break smashable objects
- breaks if third-in-succession slash hits a solid obstacle and
becomes Broken Sword
BROKEN SWORD - press tools button and Jude will throw the handle
- used to activate certain switches out of reach
SHIELD - press tools button to hold it in front of yourself
- blocks flames and lasers for a short period of time
- crumbles after certain amounf of damage is taken and becomes
Crushed Shield
CRUSHED SHIELD - press tools button to hold it in front of yourself
- blocks flames and lasers for a short period of time
- continue taking damage with such shield and it will shatter
BOMB - just your average everyday bomb for handy destruction
- while held, press tools button to ignite it so it becomes Lit Bomb
LIT BOMB - put it down near bombable objects to activate them or blow them up
- lit bomb can also be thrown
CRATE - throw a crate at switch to activate it
EXPLOSIVES - throw an explosive crate at a pile of rubble to blow it up
WONDER STAFF - can be swung repeatedly by pressing the tools button in quick
succession
- used to activate switches and break smashable objects
- breaks if third-in-succession swing hits a solid obstacle
- if you swing it near flame source, it becomes Flame Staff
- if you swing it near source of light, it becomes Light Staff
FLAME STAFF - can be swung repeatedly by pressing the tools button in quick
succession - emits ball of fire for each swing
- used to activate switches, break smashable objects and light
specific fire pots
LIGHT STAFF - can be swung repeatedly by pressing the tools button in quick
succession - emits ball of light for each swing
- used to activate switches, break smashable objects, and is used
for teleporting
WONDER POT - can be used to catch lava balls, becoming Flame Pot
- can be used to touch a source of flame, becoming Flame Pot
- can be used to hold water, becoming Ice Pot
- can be placed down or thrown (shatters in throwing case)
FLAME POT - throw at ignitable spot to set fire to it
- if you get water in it, becomes Ice Pot
ICE POT - no specific use, other than messing your attempt at puzzle solving
- catch a lava ball or touch flame source, and it becomes Flame Pot
BROKEN POT - if you nab one, discard it as it has no use
WONDER CRYSTAL - throw at a source of flame to become Flame Crystal (you'll
also extinguish that source of flame)
- throw in the water to become Freeze Crystal
FLAME CRYSTAL - use in vicinity on flame pots to set them on fire, becomes
Wonder Crystal
ICE CRYSTAL - use in vicinity of lit flame pots to extinguish them; becomes
Wonder Crystal
MIST CLOAK - allows you to become a cloud of mist and move thru grated doors or
fall thru grated ground
SEAL KEY - forces random encounters when used
- if used near red crystal, initiates optional boss battle
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
ACCELERATOR
Aside from slowing down time, and allowing you to complete some time-crucial
events, Accmode has one more feature. By using it at specific places inside the
dungeon, hidden gella coins and bags may be revealed. By collecting these
during single Accmode you will collect increasingly higher and higher amounts
of gella - the higher the chain, the more gella you get ([Chain no. x 10] for a
coin, and [Chain no. x 100] for a bag).
You can also find hourglasses scattered around - pick one up to completely
refill your ACG back to full. Hourglasses can help you rack even higher gella
bonuses in this way.
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
-------------------------------- BATTLE FIELD ---------------------------------
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
While walking around on active field in dungeons (and sometimes in towns as
well), you may engage in random battles, thus initiating battle mode. The
battle ends once:
- your party has killed all enemies
- your party escaped
- you kill some enemies, but then escape
- enemies escape from battle
Aside from random battles, you will need to claim victory in several event
battles (usually boss battles). EB (event battles) cannot be escaped from.
After battle ends, you get EXP and gella for enemies killed. Sometimes a chest
appears in one of seven hexes at end of battle - if you have a chr in that hex
(KO-ed or not) you will receive whatever was in that chest. If you kill some of
the enemies, but then escape, EXP and gella awarded will be zero. However, if
you kill some enemies, but then remaining enemies escape, you get EXP and gella
for enemies you successfully subdued.
If all of your battling chrs become KO-ed or petrified, you receive Game Over.
If that happens, you have two choices: top option allows you to retry the
battle you lost once again, while bottom option returns you to title screen.
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
------------------------------- WORLD MAP FIELD -------------------------------
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
When on world map, you can move between towns and dungeons, save your game,
fiddle around with main menu, and view badges acquired so far.
Blue dots denote towns.
Red dots denote dungeons and minidungeons you have either not yet cleared; or
you have cleared them, but haven't purified respective BP yet.
Yellow dots denote completed dungeons and minidungeons with purified BP.
===============================================================================

-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
-------------------------------- STATUS SUBMENU -------------------------------
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
Consists of five subpages (six for Jude) with following info:
SUBPAGE 1 (STATS)
HP - Amount of MAX hit points. If HP are depleted to zero, chr is
KO-ed.
MP - Amount of MAX mind points. If MP are depleted to zero, chr cannot
use Original Commands (OC for short).
EXP - Total amount of EXP accrued so far.
NXT - Amount of EXP needed to reach next level.
ATTACK - Affects the amount of physical damage chr does (ATK).
DEFENSE - Affects the amount of physical damage chr receives (DEF).
MAGIC POWER - Affects the amount of magic damage chr does (MAG).
RESISTANCE - Affects the amount of magic damage chr receives (RES).
ACCURACY - Affects the accuracy of chr's physical attacks (HIT).
EVASION - Affects chr's ability to dodge enemy's physical attacks (EVA).
REFLEX - Affects chr's speed and how often can chr act in battle (RFX).
CLV - Class level. At each CLV (gained at every 10 lvls), character
gets +100 MAX HP, and +10 to all other stats. Max CLV is 10,
which is achieved when chr reaches lv100.
LV - Chr's current lvl.
CLASS - Chr's class.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
SUBPAGE 2 (EQUIPMENT)
View equipped weapons, armors and badges.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
SUBPAGE 3 (ARM STATS)
Note: Jude only!
ATP - Attack Power. Higher it is, more damage you do.
ACN - Action Rate. For indepth explanation look a bit below.
ACCURACY - Affects accuracy of shot attacks.
CRITICAL - Critical attack rate.
BULLET NR - Amount of bullets ARM holds.
USABILITY - Auto-reload activation rate.
Here's an ACN explanation (submitted by Black Cow):
ACN raises # of hits by normal attack
ACN value of [2] means you'll do around 1~2 hit (depends on your HIT)
ACN value of [1.25] means you'll do around 1~2 hit, but you'll only have 25%
chance of getting 2 hit
So, if you have 10x ARM upgrade on ACN (total ACN of 10 at max lv) and only
have 500 ATK, you'll do 500 x 10 ATK = 500~5000 (1~10 hit, depends on your HIT
rate). Understood?
However, even though ACN multiplies your ATK, it depends on your HIT. If you're
low on HIT, this means that you'll do less # of hit. ACN may multiply your
damage result, however, it doesn't multiply your base ATK.
Example:
Jude has 500 ATK and 10.00 ACN
Enemy has 200 DEF
Result : (500-200)*10 = 3000 (max damage)
However, when the enemy's DEF gets really high, ACN proves to be useless.
Jude has 500 ATK and 10.00 ACN
Enemy has 1000 DEF
Result : (500-1000)*10 = 0
But if Jude has 1950 ATK and 1.00 ACN and enemy's DEF at 1000
Result : (1950-1000)*1 = 950 (max damage)
To sum up, high ACN can be useful against low-DEF enemies, and high ATK can be
useful against high-DEF enemies.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
SUBPAGE 4 (PASSIVE PERSONAL SKILLS)
Note: Listed as Subpage 3 for chrs other than Jude!

-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
-------------------------------- SKILLS SUBMENU -------------------------------
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
Here you can toggle PPS your chrs have learned so far on or off.
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
------------------------------ GC GRAPH SUBMENU -------------------------------
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
This submenu lets you view all Personal Skills (PS for short) chr can learn
once certain level is reached.
Here you can do three things:
- adjust the HP/MP ratio (counting from middle, slider can be adjusted five
times in either left or right direction)
[HP loss/gain = GCP x 0,5]
[MP loss/gain = GCP x 0,2]
- remove all GC points invested in PS (explained below)
- invest GC points in PS chrs haven't learned yet, thus enabling them to gain
access to some PS way earlier (explained below)
Now, about GC point (GCP for short) distribution:
- For each LV chr gains one GCP is awarded (maximum of 100 GCP at lv100).
- You can expend GCP to allow chrs learn PS way before they reach required
level. Example: Raquel is lv80, so she has 80 GCP. There is "Add Badge Slot"
PS she can learn at lv95. But instead of waiting that long, you can expend 15
GCP and she will learn that PS (denoted by silver star).
- Don't overdo it with GCP distribution, as each GCP you expend decreases MAX
HP and MP.
- You can withdraw GCP the same way you expend them. Or place the cursor on GCP
bar, press Circle and choose top option to withdraw all of them at once.
- Once PS is mastered by reaching required level, it will be marked as such
with gold star and words "MASTER" appearing next to it. If any GCP were
expended towards that PS, these GCP are returned to your GCP total.
Adjusting MAX HP and MAX MP details:
- at lv100 Jude has 6000 base MAX HP and 300 base MAX MP
- by putting HP/MP ratio to the left Jude will have 3500 MAX HP and 400 MAX MP
- by putting HP/MP ratio to the right Jude will have 8500 MAX HP and 200 MAX MP
- calculations are done like this:
-> if sliding left: new MAX HP = [base MAX HP - GCP x 25]
-> if sliding right: new MAX HP = [base MAX HP + GCP x 25]
-> if sliding left: new MAX MP = [base MAX MP + GCP]
-> if sliding right: new MAX MP = [base MAX MP - GCP]
Additionally, this submenu allows renaming chrs' OC in any other way you wish.

===============================================================================
10.) BATTLE MODE - G1000
===============================================================================
===============================================================================
First a quick rundown on what you will see on battle screen.
- Help line at the top.
- Upper left corner has:
a) battle commands.
b) names and HP bars of all enemies encountered.
Info displayed depends on what command you select.
- Upper right corner has chrs' avatars, with HP and MP bars below.
- At the bottom you see battle turn order, showing you whose turn it currently
is and whose turn will be next (useful for planning your course of battle).
- PPS activation notices which regularly appear in lower right corner.
- Force Gauge (FG for short) at the right of the screen.
Let's discuss various battle subjects now.
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
------------------------------- BATTLE COMMANDS -------------------------------
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
It is in a shape of hexagon as well (like main menu):
ITEMS
1
OR. COMMANDS FORCE AB.
6 2
ATTACK
7
ANALYZE SYSTEM
5 3
MOVE
4
1. ITEMS
Use battle items from your inventory. You can also rearrange them.
2. FORCE ABILITIES
Use chr's unique FA or learned FCA (for more info on latter, please look
into Force Combination Arts subsection under Battlefield entry).
You need at least 25 FP to perform FA.
3. SYSTEM
Fiddle around with game settings (the same as in main menu, except that you
can't load previous game from here).
4. MOVE
Move your chr to nearby unoccupied hex or to nearby hex already occupied
with other party member/s. If you target the hex you're currently standing
on, chr will guard until next turn (in Jude's case he will also reload his
ARM if any shots have been fired already).
Please note the following: Six outer hexes have another "boundary", which
points to "outside". If you manage to have one of your chrs successfully
reach this "boundary", your party escapes from battle. Event battles cannot
be escaped from!
If you wish to escape from battle, try grouping all of your chrs on the hex
you will escape from. The more chrs you have in escapee hex, the less gella
you lose from running. Optionally, if the chr who makes the escape attempt
is wearing Rabbit badge, no gella is lost. Otherwise, it's like this:
Chr is alone in escapee hex -> [enemies' gella total x 4 = gella lost]
Two chrs in escapee hex -> [enemies' gella total x 3 = gella lost]
Three chrs in escapee hex -> [enemies' gella total x 2 = gella lost]
All four chrs in escapee hex -> [no gella is lost]
5. ANALYZE
View information on enemies encountered. Following info is available:
LV - level of enemy
HP - MAX (or remaining, if already hit before) HP of enemy
EXP - EXP awarded when enemy is killed
GELLA - gella awarded when enemy is killed
ATTRIBUTE - special attribute enemy possesses, like undead or machine
FIRE AFFINITY - enemy's fire element resistance
WATER AFFINITY - enemy's water element resistance
WIND AFFINITY - enemy's wind element resistance
EARTH AFFINITY - enemy's earth element resistance
WEAKNESS - tells you suggested method for taking the enemy out, like
using Sanctify on undead etc.
ITEMS CARRIED - a single enemy can carry up to four items; item listed as
first has the lowest % of being stolen, and item listed at
bottom has the highest % of being stolen
Please note the following: while items indeed appear when all enemies are
defeated, they have no connection whatsoever with items enemies carry. For
example, you fight a group of Gobs, who carry Gella Cards, Lucky Cards and
badges. But when battle ends, you may be awarded with Dragon Fossil.
6. ORIGINAL COMMANDS
Use OC chr has learned so far. Please note that you need MP for them - no
MP means no fireworks. Some OC may be affected depending on which hex you
stand at time of execution. Depending on the type of OC used, chr is allowed
to target any hex on the battlefield, adjacent hexes or two hexes in a
straight line, etc. For such information look into Original Commands
section.
7. ATTACK
Use the equipped weapon to attack nearby hex.
- Jude's ARM has a reach of two hexes in a straight line. If Jude's ARM runs
out of bullets, it will transform into a sword (allows Jude to attack
hexes adjacent to his) until Jude reloads.
- Yulie can attack hexes adjacent to hers.
- Raquel can attack hexes adjacent to hers.
- Arnaud can attack hexes adjacent to his.
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
--------------------------- CHARACTERS' QUICK INFO ----------------------------
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
You will see this in upper right corner. It consists of four things:
- chr's avatar
- current HP (if it's full, the number is blue; some of it lost, number is
white; critical HP, number is red; chr is KO-ed, number is grey)
- red bar, representing ratio of current to MAX HP
- green bar, representing ratio of current to MAX MP
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
------------------------------ BATTLE TURN ORDER ------------------------------
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
Appears on bottom of battle screen. It shows up to nine entries with small
avatars of your chrs, or having word "ENEMY" or "BOSS" (along with appropriate
letter) in it. The entry which appears on far left is the combatant whose turn
currently is. Once that combatant makes a move, his/her/its turn ends and it's
next combatant's turn. Reaction stat of combatants dictates how quickly they
get a turn, as well as equipment carried and previous actions they did in
battle.
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
--------------------------- PPS ACTIVATION NOTICES ----------------------------
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
As battle progresses, and if your chrs have learned/mastered any PPS so far,
and also assuming they haven't been toggled off, once the requirements for PPS
activation have been met, you will be notified of PPS activating by a small
notice in lower right corner. Example: Raquel has PPS Red Zone, which allows
her to instantly get a turn if her HP is reduced to a critical level. When
she's hit with an attack that does so, you will see Red Zone's name appear in
lower right corner, and Raquel's entry appearing at far left of battle turn
order bar. Some PPS award bonus EXP rate when activated.
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
--------------------------------- FORCE GAUGE ---------------------------------
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
Appears on far right of the screen and consists of two bars.
Blue bar on the left fills as various actions occur in battle:
- your chr attacks an enemy
- enemy attacks your chr
- chr guards
- and so on...
As it reaches values of 25, 50, 75 and 100, red segments on the right will fill
up. If at least one is full, you can have one of your chrs perform FA.
JUDE'S FA: MYSTIC
Use a battle item from your inventory and have that item affect
all hexes.
YULIE'S FA: MATERIAL
Depending on color of the hex she's standing in, she will summon a
guardian.
- Grey hex: a guardian which recovers team's HP
- Green hex: a guardian which deals wind mgd to all enemies
- Yellow hex: a guardian which deals earth mgd to all enemies
- Red hex: a guardian which deals fire mgd to all enemies
- Blue hex: a guardian which deals water mgd to all enemies
ARNAUD'S FA: JUMP
Arnaud as well as any allies (even if KO-ed) in current hex will
jump to any other unoccupied hex or any other hex already occupied
by a team member. If relevant PPS is learned, Arnaud still retains
his current turn and can act again.
RAQUEL'S FA: INTRUDE
When Raquel uses Intrude, she will gain two turns in a row. This
is a very cool FA indeed - if your FG is full, and it is Raquel's
turn, you can have her perform four to five attacks in a row. Use
Intrude, attack once, use Intrude, attack once, etc...
You may wonder just for how much does FP rise if certain actions are performed
in battle, be it you attacking the enemies or vice versa. There's a lot of
actions in battle that make your FP rise, and several actions which make it
drop. I'll list only the latter, as I need to focus on other things.
Regarding FP increases, you should know following two notes...
NOTE: If chr is standing in a hex under misery status, *all* FP increases are
locked to 1.
NOTE: If FA is used, no FP are awarded!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
ACTION TYPE | FP LOSS
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Chr's unique Force Ability is used | 25 FP
Force Combination Art is used (cost is either 50, 75 or 100 FP) | Formula FP
Enemy's attack on team's FG (25 FP per chr in target hex) | 25 FP
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
--------------------------------- BATTLEFIELD ---------------------------------
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
Battlefield consists of six smaller hexes surrounding middle hex, thus seven
hexes in total. When battle begins, your chrs and enemies encountered are
randomly positioned in hexes.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
LEY POINTS
First thing to take into account are Ley Points (LP for short). You will always
find three LP in one battle. Their colors are:
RED - FIRE
BLUE - WATER
GREEN - WIND
YELLOW - EARTH
Now, what do LP affect? Quite a few things, actually.
- fire and water are opposed to each other, as are wind and earth
- if you're standing in water LP, you take half damage from water attacks
- if you're standing in water LP, you take double damage from fire attacks
- same applies for fire, wind and earth LP
- likewise, if enemy is standing in water LP, and you use a fire attack against
it, you'll score double damage
- some OC are given element properties if you're standing on a respective LP
- Yulie's FA is affected by element properties of LP she's on as well
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
HEX OCCUPATION
Single hex can be occupied by up to four chrs or four enemies (some enemies are
very large in size, and as such only one fits in one hex). A combination of say
one enemy and two chrs standing in same hex is not possible.
There are four enemy "sizes", so to speak. They are:
S - small (equals 1)
M - medium (equals 2)
L - large (equals 3)
XL - extra large (equals 4)
So, for example, one hex can be occupied by four S size enemies, or one L size
enemy and one S size enemy; but not one L size enemy and one M size enemy. If
total amount exceeds 4 (note that all of your chrs belong to S size), no more
enemies can enter that hex.
What else does hex occupation mean for you?
- any attack on a hex will affect everybody in it (same applies for both your
chrs and your enemies)
- using an item on a hex will affect everybody in it
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
BATTLE NOTICES
As battle progresses, sometimes colored numbers or other notices pop up.
GREEN NUMBER - denotes HP recovery
VIOLET NUMBER - denotes MP recovery
BLOW OUT! / CRITICAL H - instantly destroys the target
NO COUNT! / NO EFFECT! - attack used has no effect on target
BLOCK! - a physical attack on target hex has been blocked
MISS! - physical attack missed the target
- status attempt failed
1HIT!, 2HIT!, 3HIT!... - denotes amount of hits combatant took (proportional
to damage inflicted)
HP loss has interesting approach. According to enemy's weaknesses and
attributes, HP loss has following colors:
GREY NUMBER - denotes HP loss, but the enemy halves it or is resistant to the
damage from attack type you just used
YELLOW NUMBER - enemy is immune to attack type you just used, and instead
absorbs damage as HP recovery
RED NUMBER - denotes HP loss, and the enemy is weak to attack type you just
used (double damage is inflicted)
WHITE NUMBER - denotes HP loss, and the enemy takes normal damage from attack
type you just used
Regarding types of attacks, here are the battle icons used:
SQUARE - physical attack, ATK and ATP govern the damage inflicted
- can indicate special occurences in battle (e.g. enemy skips the turn)
CIRCLE - magical attack, MAG governs the damage inflicted
HYBRID1 - looks like half-circle, half-square
- most often denotes attacks with elemental affinities
HYBRID2 - looks like half-square, with small crown on top
- denotes usage of FA or Material
DIAMOND - magical attack, attack power of the item governs the damage inflicted
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
DETONATION!
When battle starts, you may see one or more of the combatants emit red stars.
This means they're in "Detonation!" mode until end of battle. Basically,
"Detonation!" mode raises all of combatant's attributes, making it a versatile
enemy or powerful ally (depends on who it happens to).
CHR'S "DETONATION!" STATISTIC BONUSES
- ATK +100
- DEF +100
- MAG +100
- RES +100
- HIT +100
- EVA +50
- RFX +100
ENEMY'S "DETONATION!" STATISTIC BONUSES
- ATK +100
- DEF +100
- MAG +100
- RES +100
- HIT +100
- EVA +0
- RFX +50
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
EXP BONUS RATE
Certain actions during battle award extra EXP to the base [x1,0 EXP] when
battle is over. Here's some of those actions:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
ACTION | EXP MULTIPLIER
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Killing an enemy | x 0,2
Killing last enemy** | x 0,5
Evade enemy's attack | x 0,1
Counter PPS activates | x 0,1
Defender PPS activates | x 0,1
Magic Defender PPS activates | x 0,1
Finest Art attack | x 0,2
Destroy a crate | x 0,5
Use Lucky Card*** | x 1,0
Have Hen badge equipped* | x 0,1
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
* NOTE : Hen awards extra [x 0,1] bonus EXP for all actions that cause bonus
EXP to be awarded
** NOTE : You get combined [x 0,7] bonus EXP for offing last enemy (killing an
enemy & killing last enemy = combined bonus)
*** NOTE: Lucky Cards don't stack, so don't waste a second one in same battle.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
FORCE COMBINATION ARTS
If at least two or more chrs are standing in same hex, they aren't affected by
any negative status changes, and provided that FG is at respective value (see
below), then chrs may randomly learn FCA. You will know so when you'll see
partner chrs engage in small conversation before FCA is learned and added to
their FA battle submenu. All you have left to do is select it and watch the
enemies fly.
- 2P FCA: You need at least 50 FP and correct partner chr standing in same hex
- 3P FCA: You need at least 75 FP and correct partner chrs standing in same hex
- 4P FCA: You need 100 FP and all chrs standing in same hex
There's three 4P FCA you can learn. One can be learned as soon as 4th chr joins
your party, second is learnable in final boss battle only, and for third you
need to gather certain items first.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
BATTLE TRAPS
Among your battle items you will also find traps. You can plant these into any
hex that's currently unoccupied and then watch the enemy get blown up or
whatever. Just be careful you don't accidentally forget where you planted it.
Only Yulie and Jude can use them, once they learn Hi-Item PS. There are six
different items, and as such six different traps you can put down on target
hex.
EXPLODER - hex trap which reduces combatant's current HP by 50%
IMPRISONER - hex trap which prevents the combatant from leaving the hex
once entered
RAID CANCELLER - hex trap which prevents the hex from being entered; if
combatant attempts to enter the hex, combatant will be bounced
back and also waste a turn
TELEPORTER - hex trap which teleports combatant to random other hex
MONEY PIT - hex trap which sucks away 10% of combatant's gella
RANDOMIZER - hex trap which triggers death effect; it will cycle between
hexes with alive combatants and when a hex is chosen, kill
everyone in it; if immune, damage is inflicted instead
Only one hex trap can be active at a time. If you use another hex trap on a hex
which has already been trapped, first trap is void.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
POST BATTLE CHESTS
Sometimes after battle ends, a chest with an item will appear in one of seven
hexes. If you have a chr in the same hex chest appeared in, contents of the
chest is yours to keep.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
ENEMY'S ELEMENTAL AFFINITIES
There's five of them:
WEAKNESS - enemy takes double damage
HALVED - enemy halves the damage
RESISTANT - enemy takes no damage
ACTIVE - enemy absorbs damage as HP recovery and stats temporarily increase
NORMAL - enemy takes normal damage
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
SHERIFF STAR'S GOODNESS
If first hit against chr, equipped with Sheriff Star or Castle Wall, causes
zero damage in the first place, [Ignore Damage] effect will not trigger.
===============================================================================
===============================================================================
11.) ABNORMAL STATUSES - G1100
===============================================================================
===============================================================================
Abnormal statuses can be further divided into several categories.
a) negative hex status condition
b) negative hex statistic condition
c) positive hex statistic condition
d) negative combatant status condition
e) special combatant status condition
f) positive combatant status condition
g) Gob statistic condition
Conditions listed under a), b) and c) are in effect for as long as combatant is
standing in affected hex. If combatant moves to another hex, combatant is no
longer under the influence of condition.
Condition listed under d), e) and f) are in effect until you clear them with
respective countermeasures or until battle ends. If combatant moves to another
hex, combatant is still under the influence of condition.
Conditions listed under g) are exclusive to Gob enemies only. Condition
activates once two or more Gob enemies stand together in same hex. Please
review the Bestiary section for more info on which Gobs trigger which
conditions.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
NEGATIVE HEX | CONDITION'S EFFECTS
STATUS CONDITION| AND COUNTERMEASURES
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Poison | Combatant in affected hex will lose 25% of MAX HP at start of
| combatant's turn. Hex status can be removed with Antidote
| (and several other items as well), or Yulie's Material FA
| once she has learned relevant PPS. Poison is removed from hex
| by itself after several turns. Chr becomes poison immune by
| equipping Moonstone or Frog badge.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Disease | Combatant in affected hex cannot recover HP in any way
| possible. If diseased hex is occupied by fallen chr, such a
| chr cannot be revived. Hex status can be removed with
| Medicine (and several other items as well), or Yulie's
| Material FA once she has learned relevant PPS. Disease is
| removed from hex by itself after several turns. Chr becomes
| disease immune by equipping Hazel Sprig or Frog badge.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Amnesia | Combatant in affected hex will not gain any EXP when battle
| ends. Hex status can be removed with Toy Hammer (and several
| other items as well), or Yulie's Material FA once she has
| learned relevant PPS. Amnesia is removed from hex by itself
| after several turns. Chr becomes amnesia immune by equipping
| Memo Pen or Frog badge.
| Enemy positioned in hex under amnesia status has its RFX
| lowered by a degree.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Misery | Combatant in affected hex cannot execute OC and FA.
| Additionally, all FP increases are locked to 1 FP. Hex status
| can be removed with Peppy Acorn (and several other items as
| well), or Yulie's Material FA once she has learned relevant
| PPS. Misery is removed from hex by itself after several
| turns. Chr becomes misery immune by equipping Heart Leaf or
| Frog badge.
| Enemy positioned in hex under misery is more prone to
| skipping its turn and using "Assessing the situation."
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
NEGATIVE HEX | CONDITION'S EFFECTS
STATISTIC COND. | AND COUNTERMEASURES
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
ATK down | Combatant's ATK stat is reduced by 100. Move out of or cast
| Dispel on affected hex.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

| combatants that were already in the hex once it was locked,
| are unable to exit it. Cast Dispel on affected hex.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
POSITIVE HEX | CONDITION'S EFFECTS
STATISTIC COND. | AND COUNTERMEASURES
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
ATK up | Combatant's ATK stat is increased by 100.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Physical Barrier| Physical damage is cut by 25%.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Magic Barrier | Magical damage is cut by 25%.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
NEGATIVE COMB. | CONDITION'S EFFECTS
STATUS CONDITION| AND COUNTERMEASURES
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sleep | Affected combatant falls asleep and you're unable to enter
| any commands. Status can be removed with Breath Mint (and
| several other items as well), or Yulie's Material FA once she
| has learned relevant PPS. Sleep wears off by itself after
| several turns, and combatant may wake up after being hit with
| physical attack. Chr becomes sleep immune by equipping Alarm
| Clock or Fish badge.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Confusion | Affected combatant becomes confused, and his/her/its actions
| erratic. Commands can be entered at start of each turn, but
| there's a chance affected chr will perform something else
| (for example, you told Yulie to use Heal Berry on Raquel, but
| instead she'll hit her). Status can be removed with Pinwheel
| (and several other items as well), or Yulie's Material FA
| once she has learned relevant PPS. Confusion wears off by
| itself after several turns, and combatant may regain senses
| after being hit with physical attack. Chr becomes confusion
| immune by equipping Clear Chime or Fish badge.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Petrify | Takes several turns to work. On 1st turn combatant's EVA
| becomes zero (0), on 2nd turn combatant's OC and FA are not
| available, and on 3rd turn combatant becomes stoned. If
| stoned combatant is hit with physical attack, combatant
| shatters and becomes fallen. Magic attacks are ineffective
| against stoned targets. Status can be removed with Pygmalion
| (and several other items as well), or Yulie's Material FA
| once she has learned relevant PPS. Chr becomes stone immune
| by equipping Holy Ankh or Fish badge.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Fallen | Occurs when combatant's HP becomes zero (0). HP counter
| becomes grey, commands cannot be entered. Status can be
| removed with Revive Fruit (and several other items as well),
| or Yulie's Revive or Material FA once she has learned
| relevant PPS. Chr becomes fallen immune by equipping Holy
| Grail or Fish badge.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
SPECIAL COMB. | CONDITION'S EFFECTS
STATUS CONDITION| AND COUNTERMEASURES
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Provoke | Enemy has been provoked by Jude's Funny Pose OC, and will
| attempt to attack Jude exclusively until enemy's next turn.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
MAX HP down | Chr's MAX HP has been reduced by 20% as a result of not
| reviving him/her before previous battle ended. Condition
| persists until treated properly. Condition stacks if chr
| enters fallen status repeatedly without curing it inbetween.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
POSITIVE COMB. | CONDITION'S EFFECTS
STATUS CONDITION| AND COUNTERMEASURES
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
EXP bonus | Chr's EXP bonus rate has been increased by x 1,0. Lasts until

===============================================================================
12.) ALTER CODE F BONUS - G1200
===============================================================================
===============================================================================
WA4 allows you to start a new game, by loading any save you have made in Wild
Arms: Alter Code F. See "Section 7" for more info on how to load such save.
Here's the stuff you can get by using (completed) Alter Code F (I'll also add
the info on what my completed save contained, and then make necessary changes
at respective points in the guide):
- Level bonus (initial level + <*> Level)
- <*> level bonus is added to initial level of each chr
- <*> equals amount of Sheriff Star/s you have obtained in ACF
- My achievement - 1 (one) Sheriff Star obtained in ACF
- therefore 1 extra level
- Gella bonus (initial money + <*> gella)
- <*> gella bonus is added to initial money at start of the game
- [<*> = amount of killed ACF enemies - number of ACF saves made]
- My achievement - 7367 enemies killed, 331 saves made
- therefore 7036 extra gella
- Item bonus
- Bonus items added to the inventory at start
- If you load completed ACF save, you also get 6x Extra Challenge items added
- The amount of other bonus items depends on Mariel's level in ACF
- Heal Berry: Mariel's Level / 2
- Revive Fruit: Mariel's Level / 3
- Potion Berry: Mariel's Level / 4
- Nectar: Mariel's Level / 5
- Mega Berry: Mariel's Level / 10
- Vibhuti: Mariel's Level / 15
- Holy Berry: Mariel's Level / 20
- Full Revive: Mariel's Level / 25
- Ambrosia: Mariel's Level / 30
- Level Apple: Mariel's Level / 50
- My achievement - Mariel was lv15 when she left my party
- therefore I get 7x Heal Berry, 5x Revive Fruit, 3x Potion
Berry, 3x Nectar, Mega Berry, and Vibhuti
- I also get 6x Extra Challenge cos of completed ACF save
- Badge bonus
- Convert Badge added to the inventory at start
- Convert Badge reflects your Rudy's ARM upgrade parameters

13.) WALKTHROUGH - G1300
===============================================================================
===============================================================================
Welcome to Wild Arms: The 4th Detonator!
TIP: Usually the levels of enemies you encounter (check them out under Analyze
battle option) are suggested levels your chrs should be at to ensure you're not
underleveled. This comes in especially handy when facing boss enemies.
TIP: Check out and download pictorial reference guide available at:
www.kolardamir.com/wa4/wildarms4.zip
It contains 217 pictures pertaining to locations of all treasure chests and
most items you gain thru events or by searching around. Enjoy.
Once you have pressed Start at the beginning screen and chosen New Game, you
will gain the control of Jude (begins at lv2; ACF save - lv3), who is in...

CIEL SHELTER
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
F3: After initial scenes use this screen as a test ground for various actions
Jude can do: jump, double jump, sliding, stomp diving etc. When you think
you've had enough, go S. Notice the tutorial you'll be given about floors and
route conductor. Also note that there is a lot of things and stuff you can lock
onto with L1 button and get a description of it, but I won't be telling
specifically what you can lock onto. It's up to you to find it out.
F1: From earlier WA experience a seasoned veteran knows to go check various
barrels and such, only to find *nothing*. So much for that then... at S end of
this part of the village you'll find a Break Point (BP for short) along with a
tutorial. BP recovers your MP and allows you to save your game. Once you're
done talking to people, enter the NW house, which is Jude's home. After a scene
get out and take W exit to reach...
F2: In NE corner you'll find a glowing sphere, called Photosphere. These
thingies contain GOODS, items which you'll have to use to solve dungeon puzzles
and such. Pick up the sword with Circle and do whatever with it. Then enter the
door with knight's plate above it for a scene. If you're patient person, do
this: with the sword in hand swing it at the training dummies 100 times. You
can't leave the area, you're not allowed to put the sword down, and you mustn't
break the sword. Once you deliver 100th strike, Jude levels up. You can only do
this once. Explore the rest of the screen, then return via E exit to...
F1: Go down past BP and via exit to the right to...

WARNING! ONE TIME DUNGEON!
5 chests = 5 TOTAL OUT OF 178
As this is one time only dungeon, you need to collect all chests, and fight all
types of enemies). There's only one type here and you fight it automatically,
so no worries about that.
F1: Super easy - just go right. Notice "SIDE VIEW" in lower right corner? On
such screens you can only go left and right. A tutorial on jumping will pop up
- kinda late for that, I think. Keep going right and jumping. A scene follows.
Proceed going right.
F2: Let's put jumping skills to test. Go right and double jump over river's
stream to land on a rock - now go NE and jump to next rock, then to next rock.
Plunder two chests for ITEM: 3x HEAL BERRY and ITEM: 2x NECTAR. Return to the
start of your jumping excursion and follow the road N.
F3: Simply follow the path. After some curves a ledge will appear - jump onto
it to get ITEM: LUCKY CARD from the chest. Back and continue N - soon you'll
spot another opening. Check it out for ITEM: REVIVE FRUIT & ITEM: GELLA CARD.
Back to main track and more N for a scene.

WARNING! ONE TIME DUNGEON!
6 chests = 11 TOTAL OUT OF 178
F1: You'll have to make it thru the encampment without being seen. Don't worry,
nothing really hard is involved. On this screen no jumping too high! Just go N,
jump on next ledge, then curve E.
F2: Look, a BP! You'll be shown which path to take. Save your game, then go S,
drop down the ledge, turn right, go near the mech, turn up, then immediately
right, venture inbetween two mechs, and you'll see two odd boxes (an "!"
appears over them if locked onto). Jump onto the boxes, followed by double jump
over the soldier's head and safely landing near the entrance into next area. If
you're spotted, no harm done - you'll simply be returned to previous area.
F5: A patrol. Play solitaire a bit until the soldier gets bored and stops in NW
corner of the room. Or run past him when he's looking left. Go up the stairs in
NE corner, then take N door.
F6: Remember the door... now take the E stairs down.
F7: Go downstairs, then immediately S.
F8: Ransack the room for ITEM: KEY BUNDLE & WEAPON: WIDE SWORD, then back out
the same way you got in.
REFERENCE: WildArms006-WildArms007
F7: Go N and examine closed door. At the prompt pick top option.
F9: Go left until tutorial about sliding kicks in. Press and hold Square, then
keep tapping left until you slide out of soldier's view. Repeat the exercise
once again and you're thru!
F10: Go left, slide under the crates, at the end double jump to higher level,
then go right jumping from crate to crate (watch the head work, though). Unlock
another door by picking top option.
F11: Go E and then examine the door for a few scenes. Arnaud joins the party
and he starts at lv5 (ACF save - lv6) - Order submenu option becomes available
as well. Go upstairs and thru W door.
F10: Go left, then drop down and go right.
F9: Just go left.
F7: Go S, then upstairs.
F6: Damn! Check NW door where another person was held for a scene, then take S
exit.
F5: Continue S.
F2: With all soldiers gone you can now check two tents just to your left. Enter
first one.
F4: Pop open ITEM: 4x BREATH MINT & ITEM: 2x HEAL BERRY. Back out.
REFERENCE: WildArms008-WildArms009
F2: Another tent to your left, so enter it.
F3: Grab ITEM: 2x HEAL BERRY & ITEM: 2x NECTAR from two chest. Back out.

F2: Head W, save at BP, then take W exit.
F1: Hop on over to the big tree and check it thrice for: ITEM: 5x HEAL BERRY,

Tutorial for starters. When dismissed, things heat up. Jude's sword is gone and
is now replaced by an ARM, loaded with three bullets. When Jude runs out, ARM
may reload automatically. If not, guarding reloads the ARM. Wait for Troopers
to come near you, and then take them out with Arnaud's Blast and Jude's ARM
(two hits of whatever will do). If things get hairy, there's Heal Berries for
you to use.
When they're killed, Tony enters the fray in a mech. Another tutorial follows -
Original command for Jude is now unlocked. He'll start with Phantom Line.
Unless you've *really* been leveling up, Short Circuit (OC best suited for
machine enemies) is far away, so for now we'll have to stick to what we have.
First have Jude and Arnaud occupy two nearby hexes (boss is quite fast and
there's no need to take double beating for each of his turns) - I suggest
leaving Arnaud at grey hex (because that way his Blast won't be affected by
elements and will do full damage to Land Gear) and sticking Jude in middle hex
(so he can attack Land Gear at any given turn). Gear's attacks do somewhere
around 300 dmg, so use Heal Berry after taking three hits. About 5 Phantom
Lines and/or 8 Blasts later boss is history.
CONGRATULATIONS!!!
YOU ARE VICTORIOUS!!!

F1: Yulie joins the party (begins at lv1; ACF save lv2). Oh noooo, whatever am
I going to do? You may want to save first, though! Then run to the left.

A rare enemy Greater Beast can be found here.
F1: When scenes end, proceed N. Accelerator function becomes available.
Tutorial battle against six jellos will ensue, complete with another tutorial.
Force Ability is now unlocked for usage in battle. Jellos don't attack (only in
this battle, though), so you can launch attacks against them until you have 25
FP. Also notice you begin the battle in red LP. When it's Yulie's turn, have
her use Material FA. Bang! After being disposed of, proceed N, then take a
right turn and into the hole...
F2: Right you go until another tutorial. To make it across collapsing bridge,
Jude needs to activate Accelerator (Acc for future reference). He can do so by
pressing R1 - also, notice the glowing white balls? Collect them during Accmode
to hoard gella! By picking up sandclocks you can extend Accmode. Note that
there is a LOT of places where gella are hidden when you're running around in
Accmode, and I do not intend to reveal them nor actively hunt for them. My job
is to get you through the game and that's the main purpose I tend to focus on.
About halfway you'll come to a brick house - use the arcs as jumping stand to
get on house's roof, then fall down on the other side and "enter" the house.
Collect BOOK: ADVENTURER'S GUIDE CHAPTER 7 from the chest (tutorial kicks in).
REFERENCE: WildArms015
Now about that BP - as you see, it's not glowing white, but is rather blackish
instead. We need to "purify" it - it can be done in several ways:
- killing specific enemy
- doing an optional task within the dungeon
However, as of now, this BP cannot be purified yet, but you can save your game.
Head right till the end of screen.
F3: Go S first and loot the chest for ITEM: 2x NECTAR. Turn around and go N,
then right at the cross and keep going N. Do you have 500 gella with you? If
not, suggest you stick around some and hoard the gella (you can always go to BP
for a recharge). At the end scene follows and your team automatically ends up

PORT ROSALIA
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
F1: Let's get around for a while. First the item hunt, though. From the
entrance to the port, go left until you bump into Cafe & Bar "Seabreeze Port"
(on the plateau above the cafe you will find a BP). To the left of it two
crates and a barrel are stacked - check the latter for ITEM: HEAL BERRY. On the
very W of town there's a shop "Gargantua". Check the barrel's SW from shop's
entrance for ITEM: REVIVE FRUIT. And then there's four oil drums NE from shop's
entrance - one of them has ITEM: NECTAR. In N portion of this part of port
you'll see a house with no roof, but there's a cat up there. Use the nearby
crate to jump onto the house and then examine the barrels up here for
ITEM: 2x BREATH MINT. Done, so take NE exit from this part.
REFERENCE: WildArms017-WildArms020
F2: Go N. At the cross, there will be a cart to your right. A bit ahead from
this cart is a barrel with ITEM: HEAL BERRY. Check the iron barrel with fire on
it for ITEM: 4x ANTIDOTE. That's all items in port Rozalia! Oh, something
else... at the cross go left, under the arc and then talk with the kid by the
name of Bryan, that will approach you. He wants to sell you Antidotes for 50
gella a pop. Buy 10 of them and he spits out WEAPON: LOMBARDIA, a special sword
for Raquel (who's about to join very soon). ATP of Lombardia at time of
acquisition was 3688 (3677 battles from ACF + 10 battles in WA4 until this
point). Now, you can explore the rest of the port by going to the end of this
path and taking the right path at the cross to reach F3, but there's nothing of
interest there right now, so return to F1.
REFERENCE: WildArms021-WildArms024
Note that if you talk to Brian 10 times, but refuse to buy Antidotes, you'll
get WEAPON: FAFNIR.
F1: Enter "Seabreeze Port" for a scene. Oh yeah baby! Raquel joins the party
(begins at lv10; ACF save - lv11). Woohoo! I love girls with big swords! Yeah!
What am I saying?!? Errr... a tutorial on GC Graph appears. This also unlocks
GC Graph and Skill submenus of main menu. If you have some spare cash, you may
want consider buying some stuff, so enter Gargantua and check around (tutorial
will kick in the first time you enter a shop). Not much else you can do now, so
go save your game and then get out of Rozalia.
WORLD MAP: Tutorial explaining overworld functions follows. A bit of advice on
skills, if you wish...
Jude - invest GCP into Joint Struggle
Arnaud - invest GCP into Slow Down
Yulie - invest GCP into Revive
Raquel - invest GCP into Comet

Tutorial for starters. Tarasque begins in middle hex, thus it can attack any
hex. It'll keep poisoning one hex for several turns, thus forcing you to waste
turns using Antidotes. Because of Hard type, it is fairly resistant to physical
attacks and shot attacks, but not magic! Tarasque can also completely block
physical attacks. As Raquel possesses Smash Hit, she's choice number one in
dealing damage, followed by Arnaud's Blast.
Put chrs in groups of two (say Jude and Raquel, Yulie and Arnaud). That way one
can attack, while other heals. While Yulie and Jude can use attacks against
Tarasque, their attacks will be halved and damage reduced (or even blocked
altogether). Keep peltering Tarasque with Raquel's attacks and Blasts from
Arnaud until it goes down. Here's the big reason why Raquel is so great: if
your FG is full, Raquel can have five attacks in a row because of her Intrude
FA, so make sure you abuse the hell out of it. Don't forget to use Lucky Card!

reduce the damage your chrs are taking. Arnaud can cast Fragile (and Shut Out,
if enough GCP have been invested, and thus making it completely helpless) on
the boss. Avoid standing on element LP, as all enemies in this battle take half
damage from elements. Raquel can use her Intrude & smash-everything-to-bits
supreme strategy - nonetheless her big sword will make a huge dents into Tony's
HP. Don't forget to regularly heal and you will win, and make sure you use
Lucky Card!

F1: A tutorial about Meeting function of the BP shows up. What you need to do
is head for the BP and examine it, then pick the second option, then the fourth
option. After the scene you'll get 2000 gella and a tutorial on ARM
modification - any time you find a BP, you can tune up your ARM by choosing
second option (Yulie must be in your party as well!). Use the Alter Parts you
bagged and increase ATP of Jude's ARM. The shop Gargantua has improved its
lineup of items by getting weapons and armor. When done, exit the port to world

7 chests = 25 TOTAL OUT OF 178
By investing GCP try to have Jude Joint Struggle and Item Steal, Arnaud
Slow Down and Shut Out, Yulie Stigma and Revive, Raquel Comet and Poison Bite.
Lots of stuff here is vulnerable to Stigma, so Yulie will be your main
offensive force.
F1: Take the door leading W.
F2: Use the broken floor to get past the obstacle, then pick up a bomb nearby
with Circle. Face the debris, light the bomb with Square and then throw it with
Square. It will hit the debris and destroy it as well. Pick up a bomb in NW
corner of the room and carry it to to a couple of chests (one is buried under
the rubble). Use the lit bomb on it to remove the rubble, then check two chests
for ITEM: ADVENTURER'S GUIDE CHAPTER 7 & ITEM: BRONZE MOON BADGE. Pick up one
more bomb and carry it outside.
REFERENCE: WildArms034-WildArms035
F1: Take the bomb to NE corner and use it on barricaded entrance.
F3: The blue glowing chest can only be opened with Duplicator which you don't
have yet - sigh. Same goes for sealed door at N wall. For now take the exit at
NE corner.
F5: Get over the bridge for tutorial on ladders. Climb or jump down, and then
go to left side of the street. More bombs - pick one up and carry it N where a
pile of rubble is rubbling on. Get rid of it, then check the chest for
ITEM: 10x DUPLICATOR (and a tutorial on them, no less). Return the way you
came.
REFERENCE: WildArms036
F3: First examine the blue chest and use a Duplo for ITEM: DRAGON FOSSIL (and I
suppose you expected the tutorial as well, no?). Then head on over to sealed
gate and use a Duplo to open them.
REFERENCE: WildArms037
F4: Climb the ladder at W end. Use the parts of former roofs as support and
you'll reach next screen soon.

F5: Path is clear, so go N.
F6: Go N, then E.
F7: Hmmm, a BP, but needs purification first. Go N, then W at 1stcross, pick up
a bomb at end of the path, carry it back to 1st cross, go N now, and take a W

when hit, it'll turn red, purify the BP and cause ECN gauge to appear. Switch
encounters off now if you'd like. Return to where you picked first bomb, pick
up another and return to this place, only this time throw the bomb at the pile
of rubble blocking the entry to next area. Still not done, though! In NE corner
you can jump over small gap to reach next handful of bombs. Pick one up and
carry it to the left. You'll see two rubble piles across another gap - bomb

aiming practice will do the job). Hop across and bag two chests for

REFERENCE: WildArms048-WildArms050
F7: You have three unlit pots (and another burning one in W corner). Let's call

have it turn into Fire Staff. Now stand below left pot, throw a fireball at it
and activate Accmode at the same time. Quickly throw a fireball at middle and
right pots as well. Reason: the fire soon goes out and all three must be
burning at the same point to open path forward. Now jump towards NE exit.
F8: Go right and then perform stomp dives at the boxes in the floor to get

F9: Drop down and head for SE corner of the room. Smash the boxes and find a

this is your first (by loading completed ACF save) or second playthru (or
you're scourging the dungeons for missed chests with Detector tool), you'll

chest contains some gella - 1000 GELLA (ACF save - 10408 gella). Supposedly you

If he moves to one of side hexes, cast Shut Out on him - his missile attack
works like Jude's Phantom Line, which in essence means you're safe in two hexes
(all he'll be able to do is skip turns, hehe). Jude uses Phantom Line, Yulie

WARNING! ONE TIME DUNGEON!
As this is one time only dungeon, you need to collect all chests, and fight all
types of enemies. There's no chests here, and there's four enemy types here
(not counting event battles).
F1: Go around the room and find the BP on one of huge crates. This BP cannot be
purified, BTW. There's a pole in NE corner you can climb (tutorial comes along
too). Go up, then take the exit in SE corner.
F2: OMG, we're in the air? Take the short path by jumping E and taking E exit,
or take longer route around (hint at Accmode!). Again, I recommend activating
Accmode in every room you enter to check around for hidden gella.
F3: Drop down all the way and break the boxes. You'll see a new type of crate.
Stand close to the crate and press Circle to grab it, then move that crate with
directional buttons in desired direction. For this case you want to move it E.
Jump up and towards NE exit.
F4: Go around the catwalk all the way down and take E exit.
F5: Go right and jump across two times to grab onto a pole. Climb up and have
Jude's back towards next pole, then jump onto it. Repeat as needed for third
pole. Slide down and jump right onto the ledge, then onto next ledge. Here grab
on either pole, climb up and then jump onto the ledge. Hike E now.
F6: Next few floors will involve skilled use of Accmode and jumping skills.
Jump up and then stomp dive the switch to have few wall ledges pop up
temporarily allowing you to get higher - don't forget to hit Accmode! Keep on
keepin' on until next floor.
F7: Go right for a tutorial. See the metal pipe? Jump towards it and Jude will
grab onto it. Press X to pull yourself up, or press Square to hang on (if
standing on the pipe) or drop off (if hanging from the pipe). Work your way
right.
F8: F5 terror strikes again, but it's actually easier this time. Only two
switches, the rest of the way up is done by jumping from and to those damn
pipes. Yippee.
