About me:
=-=-=-=-=
Hello, everyone. My name is David DeGregorio and I am a Sophomore in
college. I have just recently decided to start writing FAQ's for my
favorite games, starting with my last FAQ on Shadow of the Colossus.
Because God of War is an amazing game, I decided to write a FAQ on that
next. So, here it is. I have done my best to make sure there are no
errors in the FAQ. If you find any, let me know and I will update as
soon as I possibly can (and I'm not busy usually so it won't take
long). Also, if you have any questions, comments, concerns, etc. just
email me and I will email back. I check my email every day. It doesn't
even have to be about the game. I will take any emails you send me.
Anyway, I usually start to ramble around this time so I will get back
on track.
=-=-=-=-=
Spoilers:
=-=-=-=-=
As usual, I will refrain from using spoilers in this guide. I don't
believe in spoilers. They ruin the story for you, the gamer, and take
away from the experience. So, yeah, no spoilers will be included in any
of my guides. If you see something that looks like a spoiler, please
let me know and I will edit that part or take it out completely. Thank
you.

Getting started:
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
First of all, you will need a copy of God Of War. Buy it, rent it, or
borrow it from a friend if you must, however you will need the game to
use this guide.
Pop the disc into your system and you're ready to play. You are in
control of Kratos: the most badass person to ever exist in a video
game. Throughout the entire game, you will beast on your foes with the
blades of chaos which are blades chained to your wrists. Unleash your
fury on all in your path.

Walkthrough:

Aegean Sea:
=-=-=-=-=-=
This is where the game officially begins. After the opening scene, you
are thrust onto a ship that is being attacked by the undead. This is
essentially a tutorial to get you acquainted with the controls.
The enemies aren't too hard here. They can be easily killed with square
and triangle attacks. I would recommend trying different combinations
to get used to the attack system. There are numerous ways to assault a
dude, so just attack and figure them out.
After you defeat a few enemies, more will break out of a trapdoor from
inside the ship. Kill all the enemies. Notice that there is a glowing
white sphere on the handle of the trapdoor.
This means you can open it. Go in front of the trapdoor and rapidly
press R2 to open it. Jump inside the ship.
There is a chest that you can open here by holding R2. A little side-
note about chests: There are a few different types. The blue chests
contain magic, red contain blood orbs (used to upgrade weapons and
magic), and green contain health orbs. There are also chests that
change color where you can pick what you want to get. The last type of
chest doesn't have a color. These contain either a Gorgon's eye
(increases overall health after you collect six of them) or a phoenix
feather (increases magic after you collect six).
Open the chest and use your blades to destroy the barrels and debris in
the room to get red orbs. Head to the right of the chest and continue
further into the ship.
Destroy the blockade of wood and follow the linear path until *BAM* a
hydra breaks into the ship. Time to fight a mini-boss.
This really isn't that hard. It'll attempt to kill you by biting at you
but it doesn't really matter if you get hit. Just keep slashing with
square or triangle attacks and, every so often, red and green orbs will
come out. Your health is constantly replenishing so just keep slashing.
When half of the creature's health is gone, the beast will go limp, and
a circle will appear over its head. Press circle to initiate a button
pressing mini-game (originated by God of War) and press the
corresponding buttons (it changes each time) to decimate the hydra and
force it to leave.
Carefully walk across the beams. If you trip, press x to pull yourself
back up.
Destroy the barrels in front of you and head left out of the ship. The
camera will switch angles on you. Walk forward and head right into the
next ship. Open the chest for red orbs. You can go into the start menu
and place some orbs into your sword if you want.
Turn left and continue down the path. Destroy the next blockade and
open the door. You will emerge on the deck of the ship and things
aren't going well for the crew.
There are a bunch of bat-like creatures assaulting the civilians and
you must destroy them. They aren't tough and drop plenty of orbs. The
people will get in the way but it doesn't matter if you kill them too.
They don't drop orbs, though. It's a shame.
Once you have purged the ship of the bats, head to the right of the
ship. There are two doors you can open for chest that are full of red
orbs.
Head back to your left. As you walk, a hydra will break through the
middle of the ship and stick out its head. It's time to fight another
easy mini-boss.
This boss has two main attacks. It will bite at you which doesn't do
much damage. Next, it will swing its neck around which will hurt you
but you don't have to worry that much unless you're on hard mode. Just
keep slashing and, once again, orbs will fly out every so often.
Once you get the boss' health meter down around halfway, it will snatch
you up and try to eat you. Rapidly press circle and you will break free
and do massive damage to the creature. It's stunned at this point, so
attack as much as you can.
The hydra continues its patter some more so continue attacking, being
wary of its neck swing. When its health is almost gone it will try to
eat you again. Rapidly pres circle again and it will go down like a
sack of bricks. Jump into the hole it made in the ship and swim to your
right, through the small opening.
Climb the net at the other end and you will be on the deck of another
ship. Kill the enemies and take a short breather. You will see a hydra
in the background but there's nothing you can do about it now.
Walk along the fallen mast until you reach an intersection. Head right
to reach a chest full of red orbs. Go back and continue forward. At the
end of the bean is another ship.
Go forward and you will see a cut scene that is both disturbing and
awesome. Open the chest and save your game at the giant glowing pillar
of light.
This next part can get kind of annoying. You see a bunch of undead
archers on the other side of the ship. You need to kill them but you
can't jump high enough to grab the ledge that they're on.
Here's what needs to be done. There is a small box at the bottom right
hand corner. You need to kick this to the ledge where the archers are.
This is made annoying by the fact that the archers can destroy the box
in four hits, while Kratos shrugs off any damage taken.
Take your time with this. Kick the box before the arrows hit it, so
that it just passes underneath and you should be fine. After a few
tries, you should be able to take sweet revenge on the archers.
Open the chest for green orbs and continue to the next area.
At the end of the hallway is a door. It is locked right now but this is
where you need to go later, once you have the key. Behind you, on the
side of the building, is a ladder. Climb it and start climbing the net
attached to the mast of the ship.
Enemies will try to ambush you and knock you off. To attack them, aim
the left analog stick in the direction of the enemy and press either
square or triangle. The only difference is that square is a direct
attack while triangle is a sweeping attack. You can also press the
analog stick and circle to pull enemies off the net for an instant
kill. Kill the enemies and climb to the top of the net.
At the top, climb the next net. Kill the enemies. In front of you, you
should see a rope going from the mast to another ship. Jump up and you
automatically grab it and slide down.
Break open the barricades on the right and left to get a Gorgon's eye
and more red orbs. Now go through the center door.
In this room, you will see a glowing blue symbol. Walk forward into it
and you will receive your first spell, Poseidon's Rage. Select it by
pressing right on the d-pad. The symbol should appear on the HUD in the
top left corner of the screen.
Kill the enemies that appear, using the new spell if you wish. It is a
fun and useful spell that can increase your combo multiplier a great
deal.
Head through the door and save at the save point.
Replenish your health and magic using the chests and climb the net. A
scene will kick in. It's time for a real boss battle!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
The Hydra
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
This is the first real boss battle and it is quite fun. You have two
small hydras to contend with and one huge one. The big hydra keeps
healing the others, yet you can't reach the big one because he keeps
blasting you off of the net. There is a trick to this battle, so pay
attention. Fend off the small hydra for a bit. The small hydra function
the same as the last mini-boss. They either bite you or do their neck
attack. They still emit green orbs. Attack the first one a bit and a
blast of air will sweep you to the next hydra. Keep fighting.
Poseidon's Rage helps greatly. After a while of back and forth between
the two, you will knock out one of the hydra. This is where you must
forget about the other hydra. Otherwise the one you took out will come
back. If you took out the right hydra first, jump onto the boxes to
your right. Keep climbing until you reach the top and look left. There
is a platform hanging here that you can jump on. Do this and your
weight will cause it to descend and impale the hydra. It is still alive
but it can't move because it is pinned beneath the platform. Now, turn
to the other hydra. Knock it out and climb the boxes. Impale it by
jumping on the platform. Now, climb the net and get ready to face the
real boss. This guy is quite similar to the smaller versions. It has
two attacks. The first one is a bite attack again but this is actually
easier to dodge because it is slower than the smaller versions. Also,
it doesn't do any real damage because it's a very inaccurate attack.
The next attack isn't really an attack at all. Basically, the hydra
roars and tries to push you off the ledge. All this does is make you
climb back up again. Also, if you stand in the middle of the platform,
Kratos automatically grabs the ledge instead of falling. Attack the
boss and you will see that it emits green and blue orbs frequently. Use
Poseidon's Rage frequently and attack it until it is stunned and a
green circle appears overhead. Press circle to initiate the mini-game.
Rapidly press circle to knock the hydra's head into the mast. The mast
is then cracked. You have to repeat this pattern twice more: attacking
the boss and knocking it into the mast. Some people have a problem
pressing circle. If you have trouble, try switching from your thumb to
a finger which can mover faster. Or you could ask a friend to help.
Anyway, after you do this the mast is broken off and you must take down
the hydra's health down to about twenty-five percent. The boss is then
stunned again. Press circle to start the final mini-game, where you
press one random button, then rapidly press circle to impale the beast.
The boss is now dead. Congratulations!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Now we have to find the key to that door. If you paid attention during
the cut scene, you might've noticed that the guy that was eaten by the
big hydra had a key. Yup, you've guessed it. You have to walk into the
hydra's mouth and take it from him. Watch the funny scene that ensues.
Head back out and climb the boxes on the right side. Jump to the net,
climb up, and open the chests for health and another Gorgon's eye.
Slide down the rope behind you. Now you are back to where the archers
annoyed you. Trek to the locked door, killing more archers as you go,
and open it.
Run down the hallway, descend the stairs, and open the next door. Watch
the amazing scene (the graphical work is quite impressive) and you will
see why this game is rated M. (It's not because of the violence.)
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
The Gates Of Athens:
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
When you regain control, you will notice two women in the bed and an R2
symbol when you get near them. If you want, jump onto the bed and press
circle to initiate a little mini-game with the ladies. ^^ In addition
to having fun, you will gain a ton of red orbs. You can do this again
but you won't get many more orbs.
Now it's time to move on. Head down the hall, save your game, and
continue down the next hallway. Open the chests for green and blue
orbs. Climb the ladder to exit the ship and speak to the statue. Cross
the bridge and set foot on dry land. Kill the undead warriors. They
still aren't a challenge. They have armor, so you can't grab them until
the circle appears over their heads.
Break any objects you see as they could contain orbs which are very
helpful. Continue forward and turn left, crossing the stone bridge.
Turn right, onto the wooden path. To your right is a hole in the wall.
Swim over to the stone structure and jump back onto land. Go inside the
door, kill the enemies, and open the chests for a phoenix feather and
green orbs.
Return to the wooden pathway and this time jump forward, over the
water, to the lever. Pull it and you will ascend to a higher level.
Walk down the path until you see a scene.
After the scene you will see a new type of enemy, the Minotaur. These
are tough enemies. Individually they aren't too bad but you have to
face two off the bat. There is a treasure chest with green orbs on the
path if you need it.
Take down these creatures. Poseidon's Rage is helpful. When the circle
command becomes visible, press circle to engage a new mini-game.
Rapidly press circle to impale them through the mouth. The chest at the
other end of the walkway has blue orbs. Ascend to the next level via
the elevator.
When you reach the top you will meet a new creature. It is big and slow
but it has a ranged attack. It has a mace attached to its arm that it
can shoot out. Roll to avoid this and attack when the creature is
vulnerable. When the circle command appears, you can press it for
another satisfying kill mini-game.
You should have enough orbs to power up your blades to level two at
this point. If you need it, there is a chest at the far end that cycles
between blue and green orbs.
Once you kill the first hulking creature, another appears. Kill this
and another appears. Kill the third one and the shield disappears on
the door. Go through it.
Go down the hallway and you will be in a room with stacks of boxes. Two
of the boxes (the one on bottom of the stack in the center and the one
on bottom of the stack to the northwest) are a different color. This
means you can break them. Do so and you can go forward.
Go to the box at the southwest end of the room. There is only one box
on this stack so you can climb up. Look diagonally right and you will
see another stack (the stack in the center). Jump over to this stack.
Jump onto the stack directly behind you and there is a hole in the
wall. Inside this hole are two chests. One has a Gorgon's eye and the
other has magic.
Jump to the stack to your left that has a chest and a ladder on it. The
chest has red orbs inside. Climb the ladder and make your way left to
the next stack of boxes.
Jump to the next stack. (The one with the net on it.) Jump left again
to the next stack. To your left is another stack with a chest. The
chest has red orbs. Open it, and then head right into the next room.
You will get your next spell, medusa's gaze, here. However, you have to
earn it.
You have to kill medusa first. The only real difficulty is that she can
turn you into stone. If you get turned into stone, quickly move the
left analog stick left and right before she can hit you.
To avoid behind turned to stone, use Poseidon's rage whenever she uses
her gaze upon you. Hit her when she's stunned, and then rip off her
head with the circle mini-game.
When she's dead you get medusa's gaze. More enemies will spawn right
after. Use medusa's gaze to kill them. Just hold L2 and press square to
use it. Aim with the left analog stick.
Head through the door. Head down the hallway and kill the enemies.
Climb the ladder and save your game.
Go back to the top of the ladder. There is a lever here. Pull it and
the crossbow will turn around. Go to the crossbow and hold R2. While
holding R2, pill back the left analog stick. When the crossbow's
cocked, pull the left analog stick forward to shoot down the door.
Save your game again and head forward. Turn left down the hallway and
descend the ladder. Kill the enemies and open the chest for a Gorgon's
eye. Open the gate to open a shortcut from the previous part of the
level.
Head back down the hallway and up the ladder. Turn right, head down the
hallway, and up the next ladder. Kill all the enemies and turn around.
The wall to the left of the door is black.
You can climb this wall. Climb the wall to the top, then head right,
killing enemies as you go, and jumping the gaps. When you can't go
right any more, head down until you reach solid ground. Kill more
enemies and rapidly press R2 to knock over the statue. Use the ladder
to climb down to the previous area.
Head to where you broke off the statue's head. Jump on top of it and
climb the ladder. Kill the medusas, open the chest for green orbs, and
climb the next ladder.
Kill the Minotaur and the Medusa. Once they're dead, destroy the
pillars to your left to make platforms to get to the next level. Kill
the enemies up here and then shoot the crossbow.
This will shoot a rope across to another room. Double jump to grab it
and start to climb across. Enemies will try to attack you, so stop
climbing and use square, triangle, or circle to kill them. Then
continue across.
When you reach the other side, climb down the ladder, and open the
chest for green orbs.
Turn around, head to the bottom of the room, and head left. There is a
door here. It should look familiar because it's the other side of the
door near the first crossbow.
Open it and head back to the first crossbow. Shoot this one again to
open the third door. Behind this door there's a couple of Minotaur.
Kill them.
Go forward and jump onto the new ladder. Climb it to reach a chest with
red orbs and another with some health. Descend the ladder and continue
through the hallway. Turn right and head forward for a scene.
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
The Road To Athens:
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
Head forward and ascend the stairs for another scene. Save your game at
the save point on the right.
Head down the path to the left. The rout in front of you will be
blocked by debris, so turn left and into an archway. The gate closes
behind you.
This part isn't too hard but it takes patience. First of all, kill one
of the Minotaur. This makes it much easier. Now, make sure your magic
is full. If it isn't, there's a chest with blue orbs in the right side
of the room.
Now, lure the remaining Minotaur onto the button and freeze it with
Medusa's gaze. Immediately run forward and roll twice to get through
the open gate in time. Open the chest for green orbs. Head right and
enter the city.
Take the time to kill all the monsters in the area. This will help when
you return through the city. Once everything is dead, enter every
single house by breaking down the door. Almost every house has a chest
with red orbs. Two of the chests have phoenix feathers and one contains
a Gorgon's eye. Don't miss the chest in the second floor of the house
where one of the archers was stationed (it was on the top of the
building where the chest is).
Once you have all the goodies, break the blockade at the end of the
street. Jump and pres circle to grab hold of the rope. Hold circle and
swing back and forth to gain momentum. Jump to the second rope and
climb to find a chest with many red orbs. Jump down and continue down
the road.
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
Athens Town Square:
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
Run up the stairs and enter the town square. There are tons of people
running around and there is a Cyclops smashing everything. The exits
are sealed off so you must kill the enemy first. The good thing is that
the people give off health orbs once killed, so don't worry about
health. Dodge its attacks with R3 and attack as much as you can.
Kill the first Cyclops and a second will appear. A third one will run
in as well. Kill them and the doors will open. Head into the door on
left side of the square.
Walk down the hallway and you will enter a room with golden floors.
Ascend the stairs and you will emerge on a parapet. Open the chest for
green orbs. Head right and break down the door to reach a chest with
blue or green orbs.
Head back to where you broke the door and jump over to the hall the
woman ran down. Watch the scene and climb up the stairs. The woman will
fall to her death. Save your game to the left.
To your left is a chest with a phoenix feather. Jump down and take the
key from the woman. Return to the parapet that she jumped off of. On
your way will be enemies. These have yellow shields. You can break
these with a combo of square, square, triangle. *Take note (I just
found this out): there is a secret chest hidden behind a wall panel in
the room with the golden floor. To find this, return to the hallway you
came in from. Turn around. The wall in front of you has three panels.
The one on the right has a chest with a Gorgon's eye hidden inside.*
Return to the parapet. Head to the right and double jump to the ledge.
Head forward and unlock the trapdoor. Open it and jump down. Save your
game here.
Continue down the hallway. At the fork, head left and run up the
stairs.
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
Rooftops Of Athens:
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
Head forward and you'll see a vine you can climb up. Head to the top
and double jump over to the next vine. Climb to the top, double jump to
the next vine, climb to the top, and double jump to the parapet where
two chests are located.
Open the chests for magic and health. Go into the room. Here you will
meet a new enemy type. They like to strike at you from underground.
Avoid them with R3 or you can use Rage Of The Gods, if you have it, to
end the battle quickly. This is a prime place to use it.
The way forward is blocked by a shield, so head up the stairs, killing
the archers. At the top are more of those new enemies as well as that
hulking enemy type from before. I would recommend Poseidon's Wrath,
level two, or Rage Of The Gods if you didn't use it before.
Once your enemies are dead, the way forward will open, so head back
down the stairs and into the city.
Head south (towards the screen) and you will reach a chest full of red
orbs. Go north now. The bridge is destroyed, so jump forward onto the
platform. You will see vines on a pillar below you. Jump there and
climb down to the left. Jump across to a ledge with a red orb chest.
Jump back to the vines, climb to the right, and jump to the next vine
covered pillar. Beware of the archers. They will shoot you down if you
are in mid-jump.
Climb to the right and double jump to the other side of the bridge. Run
forward, open the green orb chest, and save at the save point in the
next room.
Go through the gap in the wall and climb the ladder. Kill the enemies.
To your right is another ladder. Climb it for a Gorgon's eye and a
color-changing chest.
Head back to the ladder and double jump over to the next rooftop.
There's another color-changing chest here. To your left is a treasure
trove of chests however I don't recommend going there yet. There are
archers there who will shoot you before you can open it. Also, on your
way over are two ropes you must swing from. The archers will shoot you
off of these.
Instead, break the wooden object in front of you and jump to the next
rooftop. Break the next barrier and double jump to the next building.
Open the chest for blue orbs and head up the ramp to your left.
Press R2 near the shiny object for a quick scene. You can't go any
further this way, so head south and press R2 to lower the wooden
bridge.
Climb back down the ladder and kill the enemies that spawn here. Save
your game. Head left out the door. To the left is a burning bridge.
Cross it and go left.
You will see a giant object that looks like a mobile crossbow. Push it
down the hallway and into the next room.
Open up the doors on the right for some pots you can smash and a health
chest. The doors on the right contain more pots and a room with more
enemies. Kill them and return to the room.
Inside is a lever. Don't pull it just yet. Drag the crossbow onto the
circle to the right of the room. Now pull the lever. The crossbow is
now facing a different direction but not the one you want.
Drag the crossbow of the circle and pull the lever to reset the system.
Drag the crossbow back and pull the lever to have it face the right
direction. Use the crossbow to take out the door.
Go through the door and continue down the hallway. At the end is a
chest with blue orbs (this constantly replenishes) and another glowing
symbol. It is time to get a new spell. You will receive Zeus's Fury.
This spell is essentially a thunderbolt that you can use to target foes
from far away. Now you can destroy pesky archers before they attack
you.
Head through the door and down the hall. You will emerge outside in the
same place where you found the crossbow. Go to the middle of the
burning bridge and take out the archers with your new spell. A new door
will open. Go forward and turn right at the intersection. Go through
the new door.
In this room, smash the pots for red orbs and smash the north wall for
a Gorgon's eye, a Phoenix feather, and a blue orb chest.
Exit the room, head back across the bridge, and go to the save point.
Make sure to save your game.
Climb the ladder again. Double jump to the next rooftop and head left
this time. Cross the ropes and take out the archers with your
thunderbolts. Now you can open up the chests for mad red orbs and some
magic and health.
Return to the roof where the guy refused to let you pass. This time,
instead of arguing with him, melt his face with a thunderbolt. It's not
the monsters he should fear. The bridge will rise.
Cross the bridge and smash more pots for red orbs. Head into the next
room. Smash the pots for orbs and open the chest for a Gorgon's eye and
a Phoenix Feather.
Continue down the hallway, killing two waves of those annoying
underground attackers, and open the chests in the next room for more
red orbs. Step on the circle to descend to a lower level. Head through
the hallway and go forward for a scene.
Cross the beam and save your game. Head up the stairs and kill the
enemies at the top. On the right side of the path, there is a cracked
wall you can break for a red orb chest.
Head up the next flight of stairs. Open the chests to replenish health
and magic.
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
Temple Of The Oracle:
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
Cross the bridge in front of you for a scene. Kill the harpies and the
Medusa. A scene will take place. When the old man is done talking,
ascend the stairs and save your game. Open the chests on either side of
the doorway for a Phoenix feather and a Gorgon's eye.
Ascend the stairs and enter the next room. The swarm of harpies here is
endless so you need to plug the holes that they're coming through.
Head forward, killing off harpies, and climb the stairs. In front of
you there are two statues. You need to use these to plug the holes. The
harpies will make this difficult but they don't hurt that much. Bring
the left statue to the left hole and the harpies will diminish. Bring
the right statue to the right hole and plug it up. Kill the remaining
vermin and you're done with that.
Behind the statues are chests with blue and green orbs. On the other
end of the room are chests with a Gorgon's eye and red orbs. (These are
on top altars on either side of the door.
Open the door next to the blue orb chest (to the left of the door you
came in) and ascend the stairs. At the top, navigate your way across
the beams. Certain beams will fall as you go (there is a linear path
you must cross and the others beams fall before you can reach them).
Note: When Kratos is walking the beams, on the far left, there is a
ledge he will pass. Jump onto the ledge and break the decorative glass.
Behind this is a chest containing a Gorgon eye. Thanks to Jason Ward
for this great find.
Save your game once you reach the other side. Get health at the chest
if you wish, then continue down the hallway.
Kill the enemies as you walk down the hallway. They are very easy (they
don't even have armor). At the end of the hall another scene will take
place. Now we have to save the oracle.
First, however, take the elevator down (the thing with the circle on
it) and ignore her pleading. Break the two cracked walls for a Gorgon's
eye and red orbs. Jump on top of the building for more red orbs.
Now to actually save her. Go back to the second level and go to the
door you first came in. There are statues here. Pull one out and place
it on the elevator. (Make sure it is as close as you can get it to the
line between the elevator and the floor.
Go back and get the second statue. Pull it so that it is directly
behind the first statue (not on the elevator but on the floor).
Stand on the elevator and jump back to the second floor before it goes
down. Push the second pillar on top of the first. Now we can move
forward.
Push the pillar in between the rock face on the right and the gazebo on
the left. Jump to where the chest is then turn and jump on the gazebo.
Double jump onto the pillar you made and double jump to the path on the
rock face to get two chests with red orbs.
Move the pillar to the other side (between the vine-covered wall and
the gazebo. Jump on the gazebo and double jump to the pillar. Jump to
the ledge and climb the vines to the right.
A scene will kick in at this point and you will be timed. The first
part isn't that hard. Wait for the spinning wheels to stop and then
jump to the next vine section. At the end of this, run to the next wall
covered in vines.
Climb the vines, jump to the next section, and then climb again. Double
jump to the rope on your right and swing to the other side. Turn left
and balance across to the next part of the path. Double jump to the
rope and swing across to the platform on the statue. Get close to the
oracle and a scene will kick in. You save her and learn a bit about
Kratos' past. The oracle will open the door, so go through and
continue.
At the end of the path is a save point. Go up the left path (the long
one that winds through the cliffs) and you can see the point where
Kratos leaps from in the opening scene. To the right of the strange
building is a chest with a Phoenix feather. Head back down and save
your game.

Sewers Of Athens:
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
Head down the path to the right and across the bridge. Say, that bridge
kind of looks like a sword. Descend the spiral staircase. At the
bottom, look underneath the stairs for a chest with a Phoenix feather.
Enter the sewers and to your left and right are chests with blue and
green orbs.
Go forward and kill the enemies. Take out the archers with Zeus' Fury.
Climb onto the ledge for magic and red orbs. Climb down and continue
until you reach the large gate. Jump and grab the ledge above.
Go forward and destroy the Minotaur. Open the chest for magic or
health. Kill the archers and continue forward.
Jump down, open the chests (health, magic) if you wish, and continue
forward. The next two chests contain red orbs. Climb up the next ledge.
Go forward and kill the two Cyclops. It helps if you isolate one and
keep pounding on it. There is a health chest to the right if you need
it.
When you kill both of them, more enemies show up. Kill them as best you
can. Kill the archers, ignore the first ladder (there's nothing up
there), and climb the second ladder. There's a red orb chest up here.
Climb down and jump up to the next ledge.
Climb the ladder in front of you.
Go forward. Open the chest if you need health or magic. Climb the
stairs and pull the lever. The stairs will lower so you can continue.
Climb the rest of the stairs.
Go forward and up the stairs in front of you.
Save your game and head right, down the path. The doors are now open to
the next area. Behind the right door is a chest with a Gorgon's eye.
Use the left chest to regain any magic or health you need.
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
The Desert Of Lost Souls:
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
Head down the path and watch the scene. After it's over, head directly
east as far as you can go. Now head north and slightly west a bit until
you hear singing. This is the first siren. When the circle appears
above her head, press circle to kill her in a sickening but awesome
way. She should be next to a temple. Make note of this because this is
where you need to go later.
Now you have to find two more. They are roaming around the desert
randomly so I can't really help you. Just run until you hear singing.
That's a big giveaway to where they are.
The other sirens travel around with two Minotaur. They re-spawn
endlessly, so kill the siren first and then take care of them.
When all three sirens are dead, return to the temple.
Walk inside and save your game. The chests contain blue and green orbs.
Continue down the stairs. At the end of the hallway is a moving
conveyor belt.
Jump down onto it. To the right are giant, spinning, spiked wheels of
doom. Don't go there. Instead, halfway along the conveyor belt is a
door you can open. Open it to find a stone block. You need to push the
block to the left so you can jump on it and reach the ledge.
However, enemies come out and try to kill you. Kill them and move the
block further. Don't worry if the block hits the wheels of doom. I
twill reappear in the door where you found it.
Continue steadily moving left until the enemies let you jump to the
next ledge. Move forward and blow the horn.
Go forward down the new path. At the end you will see a scene. Kill the
sirens and the horn will reappear. Blow it and another scene will play.
Save at the save point.

Pandora's Temple:
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
Cross the large bridge in front of you. The door forward is locked so
we have to go around. On the left and right side of the door are chests
with green or blue orbs.
Head to the left side of the door and head down the ramp. Follow the
path, under the bridge and to the very right of the area. Pull the
stone block out and climb up for a scene. The door forward will open.
Jump back down to the door via the walkway on the left and you will be
attacked by two Cyclops. These are only a little harder than before but
you can take them.
When you kill the first Cyclops a third one appears. Once you kill them
all, the door forward is unbarred. Ascend the large staircase in front
of you. To the left is a chest with a Gorgon's eye. To the right is a
chest with a Phoenix feather. There's also a chest with blue or green
orbs.
Rotate the lever to open the door. Run inside.
Fight off the undead soldiers. If you need it, there is a chest with
green orbs on the left side of the room. When they're all dead, examine
the eye on the wall and a door will open.
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
Rings Of Pandora:
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
Head left until you see a door in the right wall. Go inside. There are
spiked crushing machines here. Roll to avoid them and enter the next
room. Kill the archers and open the chests for green or blue orbs and a
ton of red orbs. Save your game at the save point.
Go into the door behind the archers and pull the lever. This stops the
crushing spikes and lowers a lever in the main room. Return to the main
room and rotate the lever. Keep rotating it until you see another
glowing god symbol.
Head inside the room and go forward to get The Blade Of Artemis.
Continue forward down the hallway.
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
The Challenge Of Atlas:
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
Continue forward and save your game. Continue down the hall to the next
room. A bunch of really weak enemies assault you at once. Test out your
new blade here. After you kill them, a bunch of harder gorgons appear.
Take them out whichever way you prefer.
Once the room is clear of enemies, open the chest in the upper right
for health or magic. Go to the left side of the room. Jump up and grab
the stairs. Pull yourself up and head left, destroying the enemies.
Defeat the archers with your thunderbolts and balance across the beams.
To the right is a chest with a Gorgon's eye. Drop back down to ground
level and head right, along the hallway.
Kill the gorgon's that attack you and take out the archers as well. Go
back to the main hall. Go forward and you should see a square container
full of rocks or something. Bring this to the room with the archers.
In this room you should see a circular button in the middle. When this
button is pressed, the little archway at the top of the stairs
revolves. What you need to do is drag the square container to the
stairs by the alcove. Kick the container so that it presses the button.
As the container slides across the floor to the button, you need to
roll into the alcove and you should revolve with the wall.
Take your time to kill all the enemies here. If you need health or
magic there are chests close by you can open. When the enemies are
dead, go to the end of this small hall and there is a chest with red
orbs you can open.
Climb the ladder at the corner and go under the archway. Double jump
over to the other side and press R2 to pick up the shield. Balance on
the rafters and open the chests in the alcoves for more red orbs.
Jump down to the previous room. Place the shield in the door and return
to the room where the easy enemies and the gorgon's assaulted you.
Climb onto the stairs and make your way over to the ledge where you
found the Gorgon's eye before. On the left side of this ledge is what
looks like a lever. That's because it is a lever. Press R2 to pull it.
A weight will drop next to you. Jump onto the rope attached to it and
slide down. Once you reach the bottom, head right, climbing the
horizontal rope to the other side. Enemies will assault you but you can
take them.
On the other side of the rope are chests that will replenish your
health and magic. Ascend the stairs and take the shield.
At this point, a boatload of enemies will drop down into the room. At
the same time, at the opposite side of the room, a large battering ram
will inch towards you. If it gets to you before you destroy the enemies
and break the seal on the door, you will be crushed.
Use Poseidon's Rage and Rage Of The Gods to kill them quicker. Avoid
rushing forwards and being boxed in. Corner them on the right side and
finish them off.
Once they are all dead, the battering ram will back off and the door
will open. Use the chests to fill your health and magic.
Climb the rope, jump over to the ledge, and drop down to the first
floor of the room. Go back through the hall and to the door. Place the
shield here and now you can open the door.
Go through the door, down the stairs, and down the next hall. Save your
game at the save point.
Climb the ladder next to the save point, walk down the hall, and enter
the next room. This room has crazy death saws all over the place. Go
slowly through, making sure to move only one or two squares at a time.
There's nothing you can do in this room yet, so go through the door on
the right side of the room. Smash the pots for orbs. Turn left and
break down the wall of rock. Kill the enemies and step onto the
conveyor belt.
There are more death crushing machines here, so roll past and head to
the end of the conveyor belt. Turn left and ascend the stairs. Cross
the bridge, killing harpies as you go, and head into the next area. To
the left is a chest with green or blue orbs.
Head right and climb the narrow gap in between the wall and the side of
the cliff. Climb as far up as you can go then head right, killing
enemies. When you can't go right any more, climb up further, killing
more enemies. At the top, head left. One part in the middle has a ledge
with a red orb chest.
Continue left and you will reach a small alcove with a lever. There is
also a health chest here. Pull the lever to drop a chain. This acts as
a shortcut so you don't have to keep climbing that area. Head through
the door in front of you.
In this room, the door will close behind you and you will have to
defeat a bunch of enemies. Make sure you defeat them quickly or time
will run out and the floor will give out beneath you. There is nothing
but death after that.
The enemies aren't too difficult. Half of them have shields but you can
take them out with the Plume Of Prometheus (square, square, triangle).
The rest are sirens. To kill these enemies faster, use Poseidon's Rage
or Rage Of The Gods.
Once you kill the enemies, go to the altar and grab the handle. The
floor is sturdy now, so go bock to the previous area and slide down the
chain. Save your game at the new save point.
Return to the room with all the blades. To open the door to the north,
you have to pull both levers. It takes a little practice to get the
pattern of the blades right and get to the levers quick enough. The
easiest thing that you can do is: pull the lever on the lower right.
Quickly roll twice, diagonally towards the second lever. Run north to
the lever and pull it. Now, roll east and quickly head through the
door.
Shimmy across the small ledge and open the door. Hopefully you didn't
take a lot of damage from the spinning blades because you have a fight
on your hands here. The archers don't pose a threat but the Minotaur
group together in the small hallway to take you down, so be careful.
Now, head to the giant statue and attach the handle on the piece of
wood. Rotate the handle until the stone ball is on Atlas' back. Head
right, down the hallway, and up the stairs. Kill the enemies and go to
the end of the path.
To your left is a chest with a Phoenix Feather. Kill the archer and go
to the other side. The chest has a Gorgon's Eye. Kill the rest of the
archers. Now go to the middle of the bridge above the bottom floor. In
the middle is a lever. Push it and the statue will throw the stone ball
and open the door.
Jump down and head through the newly-opened door. Cross the bridge and
head to the coffin. Pull off the lid and climb inside. Rip off the
skull of the architect's son and claim it. Once you do, the coffin will
slide away and reveal a hole. Climb down the ladder.
Open the chest for magic or health and head down the hallway. You will
come to a part of the hallway where dead bodies are strewn everywhere.
A scene will play. Once it's over, head forward, use the chest for
health or magic, and open the door.
You are back in the room with the pool of water where you pulled the
lever and lowered the other lever. Save your game here.
Head down the hallway and kill the enemies as you go. Head out the door
(it closes behind you).
Insert the skull into the skull lock and the door will open. Wait here
for a second. In the next ring, there is a giant cylinder waiting to
crush you. Wait for it to pass by and run right. Follow the ring until
you see a staircase on your left. Ascend it for a cut scene showing you
a ladder.
To get to this, you have to jump onto the moving cylinder and run the
opposite direction the cylinder is rotating to stay on. When it reaches
the ladder, jump on and climb up.
The ladder will slide down to floor level so you can climb it easier.
The cylinder will fall into a hole underground, so you don't have to
avoid it anymore.
Climb up and you will reach a ledge with chests containing red orbs,
green orbs, blue orbs, and a Gorgon's Eye. Save your game at the save
point here.
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
The Challenge Of Poseidon:
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
Head down the hallway to the end and cross the bridge. A scene will
take over. You now have to fight off a Cerberus and a few other small
dogs. These can morph into a Cerberus themselves, so kill these as soon
as you can. Use the Blade of Artemis for heavy damage and Poseidon's
Rage for massive damage. You can also use Rage Of The Gods. You can use
Medusa's Gaze for a quick kill if you want.
When you kill the enemies, open up the chest for health or magic.
Continue down the walkway and kill the two Cyclops.
Continue on again and be careful of the archers. Roll to avoid the
arrows and take them out. Run down the path again and take out more
evil dogs. Take out the archers here as well. The door forward will
open.
Enter the circular room and pull the lever. Unless you're very skilled,
don't try to open the red orb chests, otherwise you will die when the
gate closes again and you're trapped.
When the room stops spinning, head out the door and walk forward. There
will be a new enemy type here. They're nothing too special so kill them
and jump onto the ledges on the mountainside. Start climbing until you
reach a thicker ledge. Head right for a chest with a muse key. Head
left and keep going until the ledge widens.
Kill the enemies here. Continue forward, up the stairs, and kill the
next Minotaur. Continue down the hall and open chests for health and
magic. Save at the next save point.
In the next room there will be a bunch of cages hanging up. Ignore
these, jump down the ledge, and run up the sloping path to the next
room. There's a handle lying on the ground to the right. Pick it up and
run back to the cages. Place the handle on the place with the glowing
white sphere.
Rotate the lever to lower a cage. Push the cage off the ledge and start
to pull it up the hill. Enemies will spawn and attack you, so rest the
cage on one the rocks and kill the enemy. Continue and more enemies
will spawn. I recommend using the Blade Of Artemis for this. Just
continue killing them and you can finish pulling the cage up the slope.
Bring the cage into the next room and place it on the square between
the two furnaces. Pull the lever to make a sacrifice for the gods.
Continue forward down the hallway. Cross the bridge and grab Poseidon's
Trident. Save your game at the save point.
Poseidon's Trident allows you to swim underwater indefinitely. While in
water, press square to dive and X or triangle to surface.
Head to the left side of the room and climb the ladder. There is a
Phoenix Feather in the chest. On the right side of the room, there is
another chest with green orbs.
Dive into the water on the right and head south to find a hole. Swim
down and forward. Hold R1 and release to use the swim dash move and
break through the cracked wall. Do this twice more and surface at the
other side.
Kill the mini-Cerberus' here using the Blade Of Artemis and Poseidon's
Rage. They don't pose much of a threat. Open the chest for a Gorgon's
Eye. At this point, your health should be upgraded for the third time.
Your magic should be at level two (upgraded twice). Don't worry if you
missed a Gorgon's Eye or two, you'll find more later.
Open the door in front of you and pull the lever. Swim back to the
previous room. Kill the Cerberus and harpies.
When the enemies are dead, climb up the ledges that appeared when you
pulled the lever and walk down the new path. Open the chest for blue or
green orbs. Continue down the path and dive into the water.
Swim forward down the underwater hall. Press circle to embrace the Nyad
and it will descend further underwater. Dive down the opening and turn
right. At the end is a carving of more Nyads. Use your swim charge to
break the carving and find another Nyad. Embrace this one for a Phoenix
Feather (that's what it gave me at least).
Turn right and swim down the passageway. There will be an opening
shaped like a mouth. When you go through this, about a million
different spikes and blades close in to try and kill you. Keep using
the swim dash to make it through. Continue down the hallway. At the
end, kill all the enemies.
If you need health or magic there are chests here. Swim back down the
hallway, through the mouth opening (the saws try to close in again so
be careful), and back to the Nyad carving. Head left this time. Emerge
from the water and kill all the soldiers.
Once they are all dead, break through the north wall and destroy the
hundreds of pots. At the end you will find a chest with the second muse
key.
Head back to the fork. Swim back towards the screen and you will find
that the Poseidon carving that used to be on the left has opened to
reveal another passage. Swim down it and save your game. To the left of
the save point is a breakable wall. Break it open and you will find a
room full of red orb chests. Thanks to David Jobe for pointing this
out. Return to the save point.
Swim forward and descend into the hole. Before going all the way down,
wait a minute. There is a moving chain under you. After a few minutes a
wall will pass by. If you get hit by the wall you will be pushed into a
wall of spikes and you will die.
Wait until the wall pass and descend. Quickly swim left and lower into
the small indent so that the wall passes over you. Wait until another
wall passes and swim as fast as you can to the next alcove. Kratos
isn't fast enough so charge your swim dash. If you don't make it at
first, charge your dash longer and you will go farther. It takes a
couple of tries but you can do it.
Swim to the hole at the end and descend into it. Swim forward and
surface. At the bottom left corner of the room is a save point. Kill
the enemies and save your game.
To the left and right are chests with health and magic. Pull the lever.
A bunch of platforms will rise from the water. Run across them quickly
because they are temporary. Kill the enemies up here and open the
chests for red orbs.
Now, jump back into the water and swim to the lever. Pull it again.
This time, jump into the water. Dive down and swim to the platform
closes to the ledge you ascended to a moment ago. There is an alcove
inside it.
Swim into it and wait for the platforms to descend again. Swim forward
down the passage and surface at the end. You are back in the room with
the lever and the crushers.
Run down the crusher hallway and defeat the enemies with the shields.
Exit the hallway and the door will close behind you. Return to the
second ring where the cylinder used to be. Climb the stairs and jump
into the giant pool.
Descend into the hole and swim down the passage. Surface at the end of
the passage and run down the hallway. In the next room, a short scene
will show you a lever but you don't need to pull it yet. We'll come
back to this room later.
Head directly across from the door you came in and there will be the
outline of another door blocked by rocks. Break it open with a few
slashes and head forward. Save your game.
Continue down the hall, open the chests to replenish health and magic,
and climb the ladder. Turn right and go down the hall to the next room.
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
The Challenge Of Hades:
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
This next room is gigantic. On either side of the stairs to the north
are chests with health orbs. To the left is a ledge. Jump up and climb
to the next ledge. There is a door here. It asks you to make a blood
sacrifice to pass. Choose yes and a bunch of new, centaur type enemies
will appear. Behind the pool of blood, a circle will appear. You have
to kill the centaurs in this circle. Once they're dead, another circle
will appear in front of the pool of blood. Kill the enemies in here and
the door will fully open.
Go through the door. Open the chests for health or magic. Go left and,
right before the next door, there is a small ledge that you can use to
climb onto the plateau. Up here are chests with red orbs and one chest
with a Phoenix Feather. Jump down and open the next door.
Head down the hallway and jump over the first set of floor hazards.
Turn right and you will see a large gap. Watch carefully and you will
se that the floor at the end opens and closes as well. Time your jump
so that the floor is solid when you reach the other side and continue
forward.
Roll past the spears that shoot out of the walls and continue forward.
The door will close behind you. If you are low on health, grab some
from the chest. Kill the Gorgon that tries to assail you. At the fork,
head left and kill the archers.
Go back and head right. Kill all the enemies. At the next fork head
left and you will enter a large room. There are a bunch of centaurs and
a few gorgons. Kill them fast with your blades (I had my blades at
level 4 at this point and everything else at level 2) and Poseidon's
Rage. The Blade Of Artemis also works well.
Once they're all dead, head north and open the chest for red orbs.
Continue down this path and kill the normal enemies. This path loops
back to the circular room, so head back to the fork.
Go forward and kill the archers. Head right, killing the gorgon and the
warriors. At the end of this path is a health chest. Return to the fork
and head left.
Turn the crank to raise the platform to the next level. Once you reach
the top and look left. There is a block you can grab and push forward.
Push it forward until it falls. The path here will extend one square at
a time and then it will all disappear, so you need to be quick. Walk on
each square as it extends and jump to the next side before it all gives
way. Open the chests for red orbs.
Now the floor is stable so head back and return the main path.
Head forward, ignore the left path for now, and turn right. The left
path up here is blocked, so head right again and push forward the
block. Clear the room of enemies and smash everything for red orbs. The
chest has health orbs inside. Kill the archers down the hall and open
the door.
You are back to where you started (yeah, that's all that you can here)
and head to the left path you ignored before.
In the next hall is a giant crushing machine. Wait for it to retract,
enter the hall, and jump on top so it doesn't crush you. The door
forward is sealed, so wait for the crusher to go retract until a new
door is opened. Enter and kill the two enemies. Return to the previous
hallway and kill all the enemies so that the door opens. Head forward.
Step on the button and wait. A giant statue of Hades will rise from the
pool of blood. Jump onto it. Climb down to the floor.
Dive into the water around the statue and descend to the bottom. Pull
the lever here and a light beam will shoot out of the statue's mouth.
Resurface and start to climb the ladder.
A grate will rise above the blood water. Well, you can't go back there,
so keep climbing. Use the lever on the statue's head to rotate the
head. The light illuminates the path forward. It's not very inviting
but we have to continue. Jump down off the statue, save your game,
climb the staircase and head forward, dodging the balls of fire. It's
best to just run around the balls instead of rolling because you could
accidentally roll into another ball of fire.
Run to the back of the room and enter the room underneath the slope.
Kill the enemies and open the chests for some health, red orbs, and a
Phoenix Feather. If you read the plaque here, you will see that you
will have to figure out which of the doors you passed is the right way
forward. The rest are dead ends.
To save you the time and trouble, the correct door is the third door
from this room. In other words, head out of the room and pass two
doors. The next door you see is the right one.
Run through before the balls of fire run you over and head down the
hallway. Fight the enemies at the end. These Minotaur have large axes.
There are three of them. If you have Rage Of The Gods, now is a good
time to use it. If not, pound away at them with your blades and use
Poseidon's rage.
Defeat them and kill the archers. Once they are all dead, open the
chest for health or magic. Head down the right path and kill all the
enemies. Open the chest for health or magic.
Return to the previous room and head left. Now you can cross the rope
without being shot down by archers. Head to the other side, killing
enemies as you go, and drop down to the circular area. Massive combat
ensues. Kill all the enemies, using everything at your disposal. There
is a chest with magic orbs to the right.
When all the enemies are dead, climb the ladder. Jump up to the next
pathway and head forward. Take the first right for some destructible
pots. Continue forward and take the next right for a red orb chest. Now
head left and left again for more pots. Head right this time and save
your game.
Head through the archway and to the end of the walkway. Here you need
to balance across a beam while avoiding a death machine. When it gets
near you simply double jump straight in the air to avoid it.
Head across the first beam and head right at the fork (there's nothing
to the left. Balance across this beam and head right again (again,
there's nothing to the left) and head to the walkway.
Head right for a Phoenix Feather. Return to the walkway. Balance across
the beam and head left for some red orbs. Return to the fork and head
forward. Go right at the next fork for more red orbs.
Return to the fork and head forward. Three of the arms of this death
machine have blades. The fourth is actually a beam, leading to a
ladder. Jump onto this beam and climb the ladder.
Climb the next ladder and you will be on a higher walkway. Balance
across the beam. Head right and down and you will reach a chest with
red orbs. Return to the previous walkway and slide down the rope.
You will be on another walkway. Go right, climb down the ladder, and
walk across the next walkway to another hall. Follow the hall until you
reach a wheel. Turn it to open the gigantic door from the first room in
The Challenge Of Hades and unleash something truly nasty.
Head left, down the stairs, and you will be near the room where the
open door is. Save your game and return to that room.
The door will close behind you. Head to the door that is about to burst
open. A REAL Minotaur rushes in. It's finally time for a boss fight.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
The Minotaur
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
The only real difficulty of this boss is figuring out how the hell to
damage him. Once you know this, you can defeat him. First of all, run
up the stairs to the ledge at the top so that he only comes at you from
one side. It's much easier this way. You can block most of his attacks
(although I rarely block in this game). There are only two attacks you
can't block. The first attack is when it raises the hand to your right
and tries to grab you. Double jump left to avoid this. The second is
when fire engulf the platform you are standing on. Just double jump to
avoid this. Notice that, in the top right of the screen, is what looks
like a health meter. That is the Minotaur's health meter but because
this beast is armored, the health meter is inaccessible right now.
Also, note that on the beast's armor are four holes on the front and on
its back. Now, begin to attack it. After a few attacks, it backs off
for a minute, emits health and magic orbs, and one of the holes lights
up. It comes back at you. Keep attacking like this until all the holes
are lit up. When this happens, the beast backs off and a circle appears
over its head. Run up to it and initiate the mini-game. Press the right
buttons and the beast will be stunned. Run back up the stairs and head
to the lever you ignored before. Pull it to send a giant log flying at
the boss. This cracks his armor a bit. Notice that you can start to see
its health meter. Repeat this patter, damaging the boss until the
circle appears overhead, stun the boss, and unleash a second log of
death upon it. This time, as you attack the boss, pieces of its armor
begin to fall off. Once the armor's gone, you can finally damage it.
Also, it leaks out dozens of health and magic orbs. If your health and
magic aren't full after this I would be surprised. Now you have full
health and it's exposed, so wear down its health until it jumps back,
stunned. Run to the lever. Unleash a final log upon the boss and it
will die a gruesome and amazing death. Congratulations! You just beat
the second boss.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
The boss leaves behind a bunch of health, magic, and blood orbs.
Upgrade you weapons and magic and run through the opening that the
Minotaur made in the huge door.
Run up the large staircase and save your game. Run up the stairs. Open
the chests for red, green, and blue orbs. Open the coffin and jump
inside. Press R2 to get the head of the architect's second son. Return
to the room with the Minotaur.
There is another glowing symbol here. You will get a new spell: Army Of
Hades. Test it out on the enemies that assail you. When your enemies
are dead, the door will open. Go through it and open the chest for
health.
Go down the hall and swim back to the Rings of Pandora. Insert the
skull into the door in the statue to lower the water. Now find a door
on the outer side of the ring you can open. It's right by a lever. Open
the door and use the lever to rotate the room so that it lines up with
the door you opened with the first skull. Once the two doors are
aligned, go inside the statue in the middle of the rings.
Rotate the lever here so that it lines up with the other two doors. Now
go to the outermost ring. Rotate the wall until you see a door with
muses carved on it. Use the two muse keys you found to open it for two
red orb chests and a few other goodies. Go to each fountain to upgrade
your health and magic as well as gain a ton of red orbs. Save your game
here.
Go back outside and rotate the wall until you get back to the room with
the spiked crushers. Go inside and kill the enemies. They should be no
match to your new powers.
Go forward and push the two gems together to make a light shine to the
gem in the middle of the rings. The statue of Zeus will rise. Run back
to the middle of the rings and pull the lever to ascend to the top.
Step forward for a quick scene. Defeat the new enemy and two more will
appear. Defeat them all to continue forward. There is a health chest on
the right if you need it.
Once the enemies are dead, cross the bridge for a scene. Afterwards,
open the chest for health or magic and save your game.

The Cliffs Of Madness:
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
Go forward, down the path, and defeat the enemies at the end. Once
they're good and dead, use Zeus' Fury to take out the archers across
the way. The chest to the left has magic. Now, head right and double
jump across the platforms, killing archers as you go.
Kill the archers and harpies, and then cross the rope. On the other
side, head left and kill more archers. Kill the rest of the enemies and
continue until you get to the elevator. Turn the handle and ascend to
the next level. Save your game.
Ascend the ladder next to the save point. Climb ladder after ladder
until you reach an opening. Ignore it for now and head left, killing
all the enemies. There is a chest with red orbs here.
Return to the opening and head inside. Defeat the jackal enemy and
continue forward. Defeat another jackal and open the chest for magic.
Double jump to the platform and take out the archers with Zeus' Fury.
Turn the handle to rotate the wooden walkways close together. Rotate
them farther than you need to because they rotate back when you let go.
Jump to the next walkway and continue down the path, defeating the
jackal and the archers. Exit the cave and head left for a chest with
health or magic. Head right and jump to the next level. Defeat the
three Minotaur here.
Head right and you will see a door with pictures of gods on each side.
They are missing their necklaces. We'll get to that in a little bit. On
the right side, behind the rocks is a chest with red orbs. Open that
and head into the cave. Kill the archers and dive into the water.
Head down the passage and surface at the other end. You will be on top
of a waterfall. Destroy the three cracked walls and open the chests for
a LOT of red orbs. Return to the door with the absence of necklaces.
There is a ladder near the necklace statues. Descend it and head right,
killing the jackals. Kill the archers and open the chest for more red
orbs. Slide down the rope.
Enter the cave and clear it of enemies. There is a health chest at the
top of the room. This shouldn't be hard if you have enough health and
you don't let them surround you. Also, at the end you fight three
Minotaur and every Minotaur drops health orbs after the circle mini-
game.
Continue down the passageway. Now here's the first necklace puzzle.
It's a lot like Tetris. You have to fit the blocks in the right spaces.
First, take the block that looks like a giant T and place it on the
circle in the middle of the floor. Use the handle to rotate it 90
degrees so it really does look like a T. Place it in the exact center
of the wall so that the shaft of the T is right under the small
overhanging block. Now grab the block to the right and rotate it so
that it looks like a question mark. Place that to the right of the T.
Grab the straight stone column and place that on the very right. Grab
the block that looks like an upside-down L and rotate it so that the
overhang is facing right. Place that on the very left. Now take the two
story block and place it in the last gap and you're done. The other
block is extra.
Take the necklace and the door that closed behind you will open. A
ladder will also lower back outside the cave. Exit the cave and save
your game. Turn right and climb the ladder. Head along the ledges to
the right and begin climbing the cliff wall.
Climb as high as you can, then head right, killing enemies as you go.
Climb to the top again, and then head right, jumping the gaps. When you
can't go any further right climb to the top and go left. At the far
left end, there is a ledge with health or magic. There is a Phoenix
Feather at the top of the mountainside. To the right of this chest is a
lever that lowers a rope back in the cave area.
Go back along the mountainside, heading back to the first chest you
came across. Head right here, across the gap, and continue until you
return to where you slid down the rope.
Now it's time to backtrack. Head left, up the ladder, left again, jump
down the ledge, and enter the cave. Cross over to the other end and
exit the cave.
Descend ladder after ladder until you reach the save point. Head right
and jump over the rocks. Kill the archers and enter a new cave. The
door will seal behind you as you enter. Kill all the enemies and the
doors will open again. Ignore the wooden stairs on the right. They only
lead to enemies and a health chest.
Head through the cave to the other side and go left. There is a lift
here. Take it and save your game. To your right is the rope you lowered
with the switch. You can use this as a shortcut later.
Go through the opening in front of you. In this next room, note two
things: there are a bunch of holes in the floor and a lever. When you
pull the lever, a gate opens, giving you access to a block. This will
let you reach the ledge at the north part of the room that you can't
reach.
The catch is that the whole thing is timed and if you aren't fast
enough, you die. Kick the block to the ledge as fast as you can and
jump up to it.
Open up the chest for a Phoenix Feather. Jump to the ivy on the next
ledge and climb up. Take the next necklace. The spikes will go down and
the door will open. Exit the room and save your game.
Slide down the rope, head right, and enter the cave. Cross the gap
again and exit at the other end. Head right, climb up the ledge, and
return to the statues. Insert the necklaces.
Stone platforms will extend and retract now. Wait for them to extend
all the way, then jump across. Keep doing this, opening the chests
along the way, and head right at the top. An amazing scene will
trigger.
Continue forward and kill the enemies. Jump over the rubble and head
further down the path. Swing across the ropes and climb the cliff face.
Pull the lever to ascend even further up the mountainside.
Follow the path and enter The Architect's Tomb.

The Architect's Tomb:
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
Save your game here. Ignore the button on the ground and start jumping
across the moving platforms. Remember, the blades are always faster
than the platforms so time your jumps according to that. Go to the
right side and open the door.
It will close behind you. Go forward, open the chest for health or
magic, and continue along the hallway, killing enemies as you go. When
you reach the large open area, you'll have to face off against a few
Cyclops and other such brutal enemies. Use Poseidon's rage and other
spells to kill them off before they become a nuisance.
When they're dead, climb up the ladder on the left side and break the
wall for a chest full of red orbs and a health chest. Jump back down
and climb the ladder in the middle.
Rotate the crane so it's over the cracked ground. Run to the end of the
crane and pull the lever to lower it and break through. Raise the stone
black again and rotate the crane so it's over the button to the right.
Lower it onto the button.
Jump down and defeat the Cyclops. Kill the other two that appear after
it dies. Grab the statue and pus it into the hole you opened. Place it
over the button and another door opens.
Now, return to the button you ignored before.
Step on the button and the remaining part of the door will open. It
won't stay open forever so be quick about jumping back to it. Remember
again: the blades are quicker than the platforms.
Go through the door. Rip the skull of the corpse and a scene will play.
Go through the door and into the next area. Down the ramp to the right
are two chests with red orbs. Save your game at the save point and head
up the stairs. Go down the hallway and descend the large spiral
staircase.
As you walk into this room, enemies assail you like there's no
tomorrow. Just keep killing and killing until they are all dead. Make
sure you don't stay too long around the place where the archers are or
you will be burned and die. You can kill the harpies easily with the
blades or just by grabbing them. If you are having trouble, follow this
tactic. Do three attacks, roll, three attacks, roll, etc. It helps keep
you from hitting the hazards. If you kill the archers first there
should be no problems with this strategy.
Continue to the room with the statues of the gods. Pull the handle on
the sphere to receive Pandora's Box. The room you're in will descend
and you will be at the entrance to the temple. Pull the box out the
main door and watch the scene.

The Path Of Hades:
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
Head forward and open the chests to replenish health and magic. Save
your game here. Double jump to the next platform. Keep going forward,
platform hopping, to reach a chest with red orbs. Follow the string of
platforms right (left is a dead end) and get the next red orb chest.
This time head left at the fork and keep platform hopping until you
reach a large platform.
Kill the enemies and jump to the next level. Kill the enemies here and
continue forward. You'll need a bit of luck for this part. Just be
careful on the spinning logs and jump on the platforms for red orb
chests. If you're lucky you'll get to the end in one piece (it's very
annoying but you'll get through eventually).
When you're finally done with those spinning blades, save your game and
open the chest for health. Now double jump onto the moving platform.
Jump from platform to platform until you reach the archer. Use Zeus'
Fury to take them out if you have magic. Take out the rest of the
enemies.
Jump up to the ledge on the right and kill the enemies. There is health
or magic here if you need it. Jump down and jump up to the ledge on the
left. Jump up to the next ledge and kill the last set of enemies. The
door forward will open.
Now it's time for another difficult challenge in Hades. This is a
stupid challenge but you have to beat the game. Climb the spinning
pillar, avoiding the knives. When you finally reach the top, open the
chest for red orbs, defeat the archers, and open the chest for health
(you will need health at this point). Kill the enemies atop the next
ledge.
Now you have to climb another stupid knife section. You'll get this
eventually but it's still annoying as hell. (Ironic, no) Save your game
at the top. Trust me, you don't want to do that again.
It's time for more platform hopping, so go forward and head right for
more red orbs. Head back and left this time. On the next platform, you
have to kill a bunch of Hell Jackals. Each time you kill one, a
platform rises and you gain more magic orbs. Use a lot of magic and
Rage Of The Gods to make this fight less annoying.
When they're all dead, open up the chests for health and magic. The
chests on the other platforms have red orbs. Start platform hopping
again.
When you get to the other side, kill the archers and go forward. A rope
will drop from above. Climb up it and you will arrive back at the
temple of the oracle.
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
The Temple Of The Oracle:
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
Save your game. When you're ready, enter the temple. In the main room
there are a bunch of easy enemies that you've seen before. Take them
out and head up the stairs. Kill the gorgon's and the archers and
continue forward. Go across the stone bridge and kill more archers.
Open the chest for health or magic.
Continue down the hall and kill the Minotaur and the archers. You will
emerge in the area where you saved the oracle. Save your game and
continue forward.
As you travel down the path, there will be chests you red orbs, blue
orbs, and green orbs. Now you are ready to face Ares. Go forward for a
scene.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Ares: Phase One
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
The important thing to remember about this battle is that Ares is not
as powerful as he thinks he is. All of his attacks can be blocked or
dodged. Personally, I prefer dodging as it sets you up for your next
attack. Your attacks don't do much damage but magic is quite effective,
Army Of Hades in particular. Start off the battle by doing two Army Of
Hades and attacking while Ares is occupied. Doing this will cause magic
and health orbs to pour out. Use the spell again and your magic will be
low. Keep your distance from him and dodge his attacks. Use Rage Of The
Gods and you will receive orbs sooner. Continue to attack him and
regain magic, using that spell when you can. Most of his attacks aren't
that bad. Watch out for his flamethrower attack in particular. In the
next half of the battle, he flies in the air and rains down fireballs.
This is very easy to dodge and he is vulnerable right after so attack
him. Eventually, a circle will appear over his head. Press circle and
rapidly press circle for the next part. The important thing to pay
attention to is how the struggle appears on the screen. If you press
fast enough, Kratos will push forward, get pushed back by Ares, and
then Kratos will climb on top of Ares. Immediately stop pressing circle
and press the random onscreen buttons that appear. You will gain a lot
of health, magic, and blood orbs for doing this. Keep pounding on Ares
and a scene will play.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Ares: Phase Two
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
In this part, you will fight off clones of yourself in an attempt to
save your deceased family. Before the battle, pause your game and put
those orbs to good use. You can transfer health to your family by
pressing circle near them. Now, the key to winning this battle is to
use Rage Of The Gods. If your blades are maxed the, not only can you do
massive damage, you get infinite magic. This means you can continue
using Army Of Hades. This spell continues to do massive damage. Once
you finish defeating your clones, another scene will play.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Ares: Phase Three
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
This phase is drastically different from anything you've faced up to
this point. All of your skills and magic are gone. Your blades are
replaced with a single sword. You and Ares share a health meter. If you
damage Ares, you heal yourself and vice-versa. In this fight, it is
best to stay defensive. You can't block all of his attacks anymore but
you can dodge the rest. The main attack to watch out for is when he
disappears into the ground and pillars rise up to crush you. The key to
avoiding this is to walk normally until the pillars rise up. You should
be near the edge of the pillar wall, so walk a bit and jump into the
air when the pillars come together. Now, to damage Ares. First, do not
attack him more than three times if Ares blocks your first attacks.
Otherwise he will do a powerful attack that you can't block or avoid.
Move around to avoid Ares and wait until he roars. Immediately attack
after this. After your third strike, a button press sequence will take
place. If you press circle fast enough, you will win the struggle and
you will greatly damage Ares. Also, he will be stunned. Use this to
your advantage. Use these tactics and Ares should go down eventually. A
scene will take place. Congratulations! You beat Ares.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
There is only one more sequence left in this game and if you can't do
this I don't know how you beat Ares. Enjoy the ending. Thanks for
playing and thanks for using my guide!
