2. Character Biography
===============================================================================
A biography of Yukimura from Koei:

Yukimura, his father Masayuki Sanada and their small army fought bravely
against Ieyasu Tokugawa at the Battle of Sekigahara and gained fame and honor
for defeating a much larger foe. At that time, Yukimura parted ways with older
brother Noboyuki, and set off with his father and the western army to hold back
Hidetada Tokugawa (son of shogun Ieyasu Tokugawa) at Ueda Castle. Upon the
defeat of the western army, he fled to Kudoyama and waited 14 years,
then accepting Hideyori Toyotomifs invitation to Osaka Castle. During the
wintertime battle at Osaka, he constructed Sanada Castle, demonstrating his
resourcefulness and bravery. He rejected an offer from Ieyasu Tokugawa to
govern the province of Shinano, opting instead to oppose him on the battlefield
until the end. At the summertime battle of Chausuyama, he broke through the
enemy army and reached Tokugawafs flag three times, instilling fear in
Tokugawa until his dying day.

Additional information from Samurai Archives:

Yukimura, who was actually known throughout his career as Nobushige, was the
2nd son of Sanada Masayuki. As a child he was called Gobenmaru. In 1585 he was
sent as a hostage to the Uesugi by his father and was placed in the custody of
Suda Chikamitsu. Returning to his father, he was married to a daughter of Otani
Yoshitsugu. Later, he gained fame at the defense of Ueda Castle where he
assisted Masayuki in holding back the troops of Tokugawa Hidetada. He was
afterwards banished with his father to Kudoyama in Kii Province. When men began
to rally around Toyotomi Hideyori at Osaka Castle in 1614, Yukimura slipped
out of Kii and arrived at Osaka on the same day as Chosokabe Morichika. He was
to become a chief defender of the castle when it was attacked by the Tokugawa
in what would become known as the Osaka Winter Campaign. He constructed a
fortified position remembered as the Sanada barbican (Sanadamaru) and
defended it fiercely with 7,000 men against an attack by 10,000 Tokugawa men.
When the Osaka Summer Campaign commenced in May 1615, Yukimura was one of the
commanders of the full-scale offensive operation that culminated in the Battle
of Tennoji. As the battle began to turn against Hideyori's followers, Sanada,
seeing that his cause was lost, collapsed onto his campstool in exhaustion and
was killed by a certain Nishio Nizaemon of the Tokugawa army. Yukimura's
destiny was to become one of the most popular and famed figures of the Sengoku
Period amongst modern Japanese.

3. Unlocking Sanada Yukimura
===============================================================================
Sanada Yukimura is available from the start.

===============================================================================
4. Moveset and Skills
===============================================================================
++++++++++++++++++
A. Special Skills
++++++++++++++++++
R1: Yukimura lowers himself, pulls the rear end of spear up with his right hand
    while point the spear head down with his left hand. You can maneuver
    Yukimura using the D-Pad or the left Analog.

R1+S: Yukimura dashes forward for a short distance running his spear through
      any enemy in the way. This move leaves a trail of fire that will damage
      enemies.

Comment: It is fun charging into a large crowd with this move, but the downside
         is the the pathetic damage. The distance covered is rather short as
         well and the move itself can be easily blocked on higher difficulties.
Score: 2/10

R1+T: Yukimura whistles using his left hand to call his nearby steed.

Comment: This skill is very useful. Why? Because you rarely ever fight on your
         horse. Its main purpose is to get you from one location to another
         quickly. Therefore you will often drop it off somewhere while you
         fight enemies. If you use this skill, your steed will arrive before
         you. I believe the effect radius is quite large. As long as the horse
         is viewable, it will approach you when this skill is used.
Score: 8/10

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
B. Regular Attacks (Square)
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
S1: Yukimura does a quick slash from right to left using his left hand.
S2: A strong slash from left to right.
S3: A strong slash from right to left.
S4: Swings his spear to the right using his left hand.
S5: Swings his spear to the left using his left hand.
S6: Swings his spear to the right using his left hand.
S7: Swings his spear to the left using his left hand.
S8: Yukimura activates his element and fiercly slashes forward from right to
    left.
Jump+S: A nice swing of his spear from left to right using his right hand.

Comment: Not bad. Yukimura's set of regular attacks with decent crowd control,
         but his attacks lack elemental damage.
Score: 7/10

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
C. Charge Attacks (Square+Triangle)
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
T1: Yukimura twirls his spear then charges forward with his spear held back.
    He finishes the charge with a 180 degree strong slash from left to
    right. If you press triangle during the charge, Yukimura will do up to two
    slashes from right to left then left to right before he finishes off with
    180 degree strong slash.
T2: This is exactly the same as T1 except Yukimura twirls his spear longer
    which allows the user to press triangle additional times for extra slashes
    during the charge. Yukimura can perform a maximum of four slashes before
    he finishes off with a 180 degree strong slash.
T3: This is exactly the same as T1 except Yukimura twirls his spear even longer
    to allow the user to press triangle additional times for extra slashes
    during the charge. Yukimura can perform a maximum of six slashes before he
    finishes off with a 180 degree strong slash. Your weapon element is
    activated during the 4th and 6th slash.
Jump+T: Yukimura stabs the spear head into the ground which causes a small
        shockwave that knocks over any nearby enemies.

Comment: This move is decent. Charge into a crowd with this move because they
         will rarely knock you out. Overall, Yukimura's T1-T3 covers a large
         distance which is nice and all, but the damage isn't significant on
         higher difficulties.
Score: 5/10

ST1: Yukimura does a uppercut that sends the enemy straight up.
ST2: Your weapon element is activated here. Yukimura attacks the enemy with
     his elemental spear.
ST3: Yukimura finishes off the aerial rave with a strike from his elemental
     spear that sends the airborne enemy slamming to the ground.

Comment: This charge is useful for 1 on 1 battles. The damage is decent with a
         weapon element. If you do not know already, press triangle after ST3
         to recover quicker.
Score: 7/10

SST1: Yukimura thrusts the rear end of his spear into the enemy which will
      knock him/her out of consciousness.
SST2: Yukimura thrusts his spear forward. Your weapon element is activated
      here.
SST3: Yukimura finishes off his charge with a leap into the air while
      performing a full 360 degree swing.

Comment: This charge is extremely useful against crowds of enemies. I
         recommend using a weapon with Ice or Lightning element to enhance the
         damage. Overall this charge is deadly if performed well.
Score: 8/10

SSST1: Your weapon element is activated here. Yukimura will leap into the air
       while he performs a full 360 degree swing.
SSST2: Yukimura performs multiple stabs with this spear and finishes off with
       a full 360 degree swing just like SSST1.
SSST3: This is the same as SSST2 except Yukimura will perform additional
       stabs before he finishes the charge with a a full 360 degree swing.

Comment: This charge is useful against crowds and generals. Equip a weapon
         with Ice or Vorpal element to deal heavy damage.
Score: 8/10

++++++++++++++++++++++++++
D. Musou Attacks (Circle)
++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Regular:
Lvl 1: Yukimura slashes his spear from left to right and finishes his musou
       off by twirling it at the end.
Lvl 2: This is the same as Lvl 1 except Yukimura can perform additional slashes
       during his musou sequence.
Lvl 3: Same as Lvl 2, except there will be fire eruptions from the ground
       during the musou sequence.

Stage 5: ‘εγ‚̐w

Requirement:
- Must be on Hard or Hell Difficulty
- Destroy the enemy cannon before it reaches the castle gate.
- Defeat Date Masamune and Inahime before they enter the castle.

Strategy:
1. Defeat •Π‹ΛŠŽŒ³ when he appears inside the castle. Exit the castle to
   retrieve your steed. (If you do not have one, bring one because you will
   need it for this battle.)
2. As soon as you exit the castle, Ieyasu will order his units to advance.
   Quickly eliminate ˆδˆΙ’ΌF who is placed in front of the castle. Generals
   will be approaching shortly. Eliminate them (‘O“c—˜ν, Ό•½’‰’Ό, …–μŸ¬)
3. Approach the southern gate and it will open. The enemy cannon will appear.
   Destroy it immediately. Once that is completed, dispose of “‘“°‚ŒΥ who was
   guarding the cannon.
4. At this point, enemies and enemy generals should be at the left and right
   entrances of the castle. Do not worry about them yet. Inahime and Masamune
   will announce their advancement. You get to choose who to eliminate first.
   I chose Inahime first. Eliminate Inahime and Masamune. Your commander will
   order the entire army to advance.
5. The weapon crate has been spotted inside the castle. Go to the second floor
   to retrieve it.
6. Finish the battle.

===============================================================================
7. Stage Walkthrough
===============================================================================
Note: These strategies were made on Hard Difficulty.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Stage 1. ’·ŽΒ“P‘ސν
++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Time Limit: 60'00'00
Victory Condition: Oda Nobunaga is defeated.
Defeat Condition: •“cŸ—Š or Sanada Yukimura is defeated.

You start off near Nobunaga's main camp, but you are not allowed to enter yet.
First, rescue your commander by defeating Hideyoshi. Next, return to the front
lines and take out ŽΔ“cŸ‰Ζ, ‘κμˆκ‰v, and ’O‰H’·G to rescue your allies.
Afterwards go and eliminate Tadakatsu along with εŒ΄N. At this point, your
commander will need your help as well as your allies. First, help your
commander who should be near the southeast fort. Defeat ²‹vŠΤM· to capture
the fort. Now return to your allies who are busy attacking the Tokugawa army.
Mitsuhide should ambush your commander while you are taking care of the
Tokugawa army. Well secure your allies safety then rush back to your commander
who is at the east fort. Shortly after, Nobunaga will open his gates and
Hanzou will arrive at the north. Eliminate Mitsuhide as well as Hanzou. After
this, charge into Nobunaga's camp to finish him.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Stage 2. ¬“cŒ΄ιU—ͺν
++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Time Limit: 60'00'00
Victory Condition: Hojo Ujimasa is defeated.
Defeat Condition: Toyotomi Hideyoshi is defeated.

Start off by following Kanetsugu. Defeat –kπ’Ό’θ and –kπށΖ to capture
the mountain pass. The gates guarding the northern fort should open now. Defeat
γ“cŒ›’θ and –kπށ—² then continue onward to encounter Œ΄ˆϋ’· and pΆ‹`—Y.
Eliminate the two to open the gate. Do not head in yet; instead, eliminate the
generals along the castle wall and the generals who are causing a threat to
your allies. The biggest thread right now is –kπށ’‰ who is in the southwest
fort attacking your ally. Defeat him quickly because if your ally dies, you
will lose a chunk of morale. When you approach the central gate, Kotaro will
cast a spell to seal it shut. Well no big deal. Continue south to the next
general. When you get to Kanetsugu, a mission will initiate. Defeat γ™ŽŒ›
and –kπށŒυ to complete it. Once you're done, enter the castle exterior.
Hideyoshi will order you to search and rescue Ό“cŒ›G. Kotaro's ambush parties
will apear near Mitsunari. Eliminate the two generals near you. Head to where
Š}Œ΄κŸ to find Ό“cŒ›G. Defeat the last general remaining and enter the
castle from the north. You will notice the door is locked. Head down to find a
statue which is destroyable. Destroy it to open one of the doors, not the one
you saw when you were coming in. Exit the castle and enter it from the west
this time. Follow the path up to the third floor and eliminate the commander.
Doors close, enemy ambush, and Kotaro shows up. Defeat Kotaro and dispose of
the ambush parties to end the stage.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Stage 3. ŽO¬‹~oν
++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Time Limit: 60'00'00
Victory Condition: Itshida Mitsunari reaches the escape point.
Defeat Condition: Itshia Mitsunari or Naoe Kanetsugu is defeated.

First, head south and rescue Keiji by defeating ‰Α“‘‰Γ–Ύ. Now head north and
eliminate •“c’·. Head south again to find Hanzou. Kill him... At this point.
Mitsunari and Kanetsugu are both in great trouble. Go in a counter-clockwise
direction; in other words, rescue Sakon, Mitsunari, and then Kanetsugu. When
you approach Mitsunari, Hanzou will ambush you. Eliminate Hanzou as well as
˜eβˆΐŽ‘. Hurry to aid Kanetsugu and Hanzou will be there again. Dispose of
him. Hanzou clones are gone. Next up, defeat ‰Α“‘΄³. Enemy reinforments will
arrive shortly after. Defeat the three generals to keep your morale up. Soon
enough you will get one ally reinforcement and five enemy reinforcements.
Luckily they are lined up so dispose of them one after another. Mitsunari and
Kanetsugu will meet up after the enemy reinforments are gone, but the real
Hanzou will show up now. Defeat him. Watch out though.. he is powered up. Do
whatever you want now. When Mitsunari reaches the gate, the stage will end.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Stage 4. γ“cι–h‰qν
++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Time Limit: 60'00'00
Victory Condition: “ΏμG’‰ is defeated.
Defeat Condition: ^“cΉK or Sanada Yukimura is defeated.

For this battle, you start off at the northeast corner of the map. Head a bit
south then west then past the central gate to engage the enemy generals:
εŒ΄N, εΞG‹v, “ϊͺ–μ”υ’†, and ¬Š}Œ΄G. At this point, your allies
should be in trouble. Assist them and defeat as many enemy generals on your way.
First, if you approach the southwest, you will engage a powered up Inahime so
becareful and defeat her. Shortly after, Kotaro will appear near the northwest
corner. Head over there and defeat him along with the generals within the area.
Becareful though beacuse you will most likely be up against three generals and
a powered up Kotaro. Once you are done with them. Go and defeat Žπˆδ‰ΖŽŸ and
z–K—А… coming up from the east. To make matters worst, Hanzou clones will
appear. One of them will be at the northwest corner, the other two will be near
you main camp. Eliminate them as soon as possible. I recommend going after the
two near the main camp first because the last one will be near the entrance to
the main camp once you have eliminated the first two clones. Now, charge into
the enemy's main camp and defeat “ΏμG’‰. Keiji and Kanetsugu will fight along
your side so it shouldn't be too hard.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Stage 5. ‘εγ‚̐w
++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Time Limit: 60'00'00
Victory Condition: Tokugawa Ieyasu is defeated.
Defeat Condition: –LbG—Š or Sanada Yukimura is defeated.

You are placed inside the castle at the start of the battle. Defeat •Π‹ΛŠŽŒ³
when he appears inside the castle. As soon as you exit the castle, Ieyasu will
order his units to advance. Quickly eliminate ˆδˆΙ’ΌF who is placed in front
of the castle. Generals will be approaching shortly. Eliminate them (‘O“c—˜ν,
Ό•½’‰’Ό, …–μŸ¬) Approach the southern gate and it will open. The enemy
cannon will appear. Destroy it immediately. Once that is completed, dispose of
“‘“°‚ŒΥ who was guarding the cannon. At this point, enemies and enemy generals
should be at the left and right entrances of the castle commencing a full
attack on your allied generals.Inahime and Masamune will announce their
advancement towards your main camp. You get to choose who to eliminate first.
Eliminate Inahime and Masamune along with the enemy generals within the area.
Once you have completed that, your commander will order the entire army to
advance. If you did all of the above successfully, a weapon crate will appear
on the second floor of the castle. In the crate is Yukimura's level four
weapon. Go and retrieve it. Once you are done, exit the castle and head to the
area where Kanetsugu is and defeat him. If you do not kill him now, Ieyasu will
call for his aid when you engage Ieyasu himself. I seriously do not recommend
this because you will have a tough time taking on powered up Ieyasu and
Kanetsugu. Anyway once you have eliminated Kanetsugu, head south towards Ieyasu
base. You will notice the gates are shut tight. Simply defeat Žπˆδ‰ΖŽŸ,
“ΏμG’‰, Χμ’‰‹», and –{‘½’‰’© to open the gates. Finally defeat Ieyasu. The
enemies will flee and so will your allies. Keiji appears to challenge you to a
duel. Defeat Keiji to end the stage. Enjoy the ending.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Stage 6. ŠΦƒ–Œ΄‚̐킒 (Gaiden)
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
How to unlock: Finish Sanada Yukimura's Musou mode once.

Time Limit: 60'00'00
Victory Condition: Tokugawa Ieyasu is defeated.
Defeat Condition: Itshida Mitsunari is defeated or allied base is taken.

You start next to “›ˆδ’θŽŸ. Defeat him right away. Head west to the fort and
eliminate “‘“°‚ŒΥ. Next, head into the central area of the battlefield. Assist
your allies by defeating all the enemy generals there. When you approach the
southeast, you will encounter Tadakatsu. Defeat him now for he will be a big
threat later on and also defeat the enemy generals near him. Once that's done,
approach the west to trigger a mission. Masamune will also arrive shortly
after but he isn't a big threat as of now because he does not leave the central
area. So finish the mission first. After Masamune's arrival, more enemy
reinforments will arrive. Your morale should be quite low right now. Go and
rescue ¬Όs’· who is taken on Inahime and two other enemy officers. Hanzou
will also announce his advancement. Once you have dealt with Inahim and others
return to your main camp to repel the enemy reinforments from earlier. Once
that's done, go and engage Masamune and the others because Mitsunari is
probably out there already by himself. Hanzou should also be here by now so
dispose of him as well. Once the central area has been cleared, go help
Ginchiyo and Yoshihiro if they are still alive. When Ginchiyo and Yoshihiro
have been rescued, Ieyasu and his three subordinates should be the only enemies
left. Defeat any one of the three to open the gates to his base. Defeat Ieyasu
to end the stage.
