Introduction
===============================================================================
Oneechanbara 2: The OneChampon is the special edition of Oneechanbara 2. It was
released on June 2006, and received the place of Vol.101 on the Simple 2000
Series, published by D3 Publisher. It was also released on PAL territories as
Zombie Hunters 2, on September 2007, published by 505 Games.

This game follows the story of Aya, who is searching for a way to stop a new
zombie outbreak that happens 49 days after the ending of Oneechanbara 1, and
to figure out if it is related to her sister Saki.

"Oneechanbara" is a portmanteau of the words "onee-chan" ("big sister" in
japanese) and "chanbara" ("sword fighting" in japanese). The "big sister" in
the title is Aya.

Advanced Maneuvers
--------------------
1) Launcher: R1 + [] + down. Launches the enemy upwards.
Some characters, like Aya, can hold [] down to go after the enemy in the air.

2) Stock: R1 + [] + up. Pierces an enemy.
This is stronger than a normal attack, and may kill a weak enemy with a single
strike.

3) Zombie Piercer: up + [] a little after the third sword strike.
There is a timing issue with this move. You have to do it a little after the
third sword strike. This move instantly kills most enemies, and if used against
Mud Zombies, you get a Clotted Blood item.
* Only Aya and Saki can do this move.

4) Lusty Madness: [] a little after the third sword strike.
About the same timing as the Zombie Piercer, you can use this move a lot of
times to attack ininterrupted. With a full Combination gauge, you can get more
than 20 hits. For characters other than Aya and Saki, you need to do it after
the second strike.

5) Fast Sword Clean: L1 after even hits of a combo.
After 2, 4, 6 or 8 hits, if you press L1, the character will clean the sword
hastily. This won't completely clean the sword, only a little. This works with
Hana/Kiku too. They will recover 2 bullets.

Stats
--------------------
In the stats menu (up on D-pad), you can see the stats of that character. At
the end of the stage, you're awarded EXP that can be used to increase a certain
stat.

VITALITY: More health.
POWER: Stronger attacks.
REACH: Sword strikes and special attacks reach further. You can see that when
trying to pierce an enemy: if your REACH is good, it will hit the enemy
even though the sword doesn't hit them.
COMBINATION: Gives extra hits to your combo. Each bar is an extra hit.
???: This meter is used to get Aya an extra costume. It isn't actually a
gameplay stat. You fill this bar by getting the yellow items from inside
     the Blood Gates.

Combos
--------------------
Combos in Oneechanbara are mostly freely linkable. You can usually link a
sword strike with melee (/\) and come back where you stopped the combo. You can
do a [],[],[],/\,/\,[],[] with Aya, all in one combo, and this combo still ends
just like a normal [],[],[],[],[] combo.

The advanced attacks (direction + []) can be used at the end of a string to
extend the combo on one hit, except at the end of a full COOL Combo.

Cool Combos are timing-based versions of the normal combos. They do more damage
and are faster than the normal combo. A COOL combo is based on your timing to
hit [] at the exact moment the first strike hits the opponent, and so on. You
know you got the timing right when you see a white flash in the screen (if you
hit the air, you just see a blur). By doing COOL combos, you combo meter goes
up faster (Ace, Sensual, Violent...) and you are rewarded with bigger yellow
orbs (experience).

The only way to perfect them is to try. I don't recommend training on Practice
too much, since you'll be depending of the timing bar, and you don't have that
bar in the normal gameplay. It's ok to try it to see the timing, though.

Note that a full COOL Combo usually extends that character's combo by 1 hit.
Let's say the character has a 5-hit combo. Doing a full COOL Combo will net an
extra hit at the end of the combo, which will then end it. Also, the final hit
will always be an area attack, much like /\+O.

Inventory
--------------------
Since some of you may be playing the japanese version, I'll list the items:

- Cure Gem (x3): Heals some lost health.
- Power Gem (x3): Power up x 1.5.
- Rapid Gem (x3): You run faster.
- Invincibility (x1): Makes you impervious to all attacks for a while.
- White Item (x3): Cures 1/2 of the blood meter.
- Clotted Blood (x3): Fills 1/3 of the blood meter. If used in Berserk mode,
  heals some health.
- Recovery Gem (x1): Revives one character with full health. If both characters
died, it will revive the last character to fall.

Sword Damage
--------------------
As you kill enemies or attack Blood Gates, your sword gets blood all over it.
The more blood it has, the weaker and slower your attacks get. When it's
completely covered in blood, it will become stuck in an enemy.

To clean your sword, press L1.

Berserk Mode
--------------------
By killing enemies, your character becomes soaked in blood. This is indicated
by a portrait to the left of the lifebar. When a character's portrait becomes
filled with blood, the character goes berserk. In this state, you become
stronger, faster and can't stagger from enemy attacks. However, your health
drains slowly, and you receive double the damage.

To cure yourself of this status, use the White Item (each use heals 1/2 of the
gauge) or stand near a Statue (heals it completely).

Note that staying in the rain of blood inside a Blood Gate will fill your
Berserk gauge faster, even without killing the enemies. Also, if you use the
/\+O attack while Berserk, the attack usually covers the whole screen, and
drains even more health than the normal /\+O attack.

Berserk Burst
-----------------------
If you go Berserk while your combo marker is at Violent, your character will
shake a little before transforming. This will cause a shockwave similar to the
one caused by doing a /\+O attack while Berserk, which covers the entire
screen.

Blood Gates
-----------------------
Blood Gates are portals that tranfer you to another dimension, in which you
must fight against waves of enemies in an arena. Each stage has THREE Blood
Gates. After clearing all the enemies in a Blood Gate, you get a yellow item,
which fills your ??? bar. In this other dimension, blood rains eternally,
meaning that your blood meter fills up pretty fast.

To open a Blood Gate, you must do a COOL Combo on it. The number of hits
depends on which stage you are. Higher stage, more hits. I recommend trying to
open the gates only when you have a full Combination Gauge, since to open the
gates on Stage 6, you need all the hits of a combo.

Please note, only Aya can open the final gate, since she has the highest combo,
10 hits.

2. Walkthrough [WLK00]
===============================================================================

There are three different stories that you can follow:

- "2 Sisters Story" is the story of Aya and Saki. If you choose Aya, Saki,
Reiko or Eva as your first character, you will play on this Story.

- "Futaba Story" is the story of Riho and Makoto. If you choose Riho or Makoto,
you will play on this Story.

- "Dragon Sisters Story" is the story of Hana and Kiku. If you choose Hana or
Kiku, you will play on this Story. They're not initially available, though.

Tips:
- If you don't know where to go, always look at your map. Your destination is
  the room with the star.
- Try to fight the bosses while in Berserk, since it kills them faster, and
even your normal attacks will make them stagger.
- If you use a Clotted Blood while in Berserk, it refills some lost health. Red
orbs recover 1 point of health each.
- The bigger you combo rating is (Cyclone, Ace, Sensual, Violent...) the bigger
are the yellow orbs (EXP balls) that you get from killing enemies. Killing
enemies on Violent rewards you with the biggest yellow orbs.
- The recommended order to upgrade the stats is Power, Vitality, Combination
  and Range.
- Sometimes, you get a portion of the health bar to be blue. This portion
represents the health you can recover. Tag the other character in and WAIT
until the blue portion fills itself up. Don't just change again as soon as
you can, because you actually LOSE the blue portion if you do that. There's
some sort of illusion that you get them back instantly by doing that, but
believe me, you jut lose them all.
- You get a pill on each boss, that cycles between 4 colours. Red is POWER,
Green is VITALITY, Purple is RANGE and Orange is COMBINATION.

Character Traits:
- Saki can do different attacks with O + direction.
  O - Just runs
O + Up - Grabs and beheads with a knee strike
  O + down - Suplex
O + left or right - Tears off the corresponding arm
Doing any of these against a boss, a spider or a "dog" will result in a
  different atack.
- Reiko fires the shotgun to the same direction your press on the analog stick.
So you can attack normally with the sword and shoot to other directions with
  the shotgun.
- Riho, Makoto, Hana and Kiku can do more O attacks when their Combination
  Gauge goes up.

Stage 1
---------------------
Go to the bridge area and down the stairs to get the first key.

It opens the gate that goes to the park. Look at the map to get to the park.
After getting the key there, come back to the big street and open the big steel
door to the left of the entrance. If you don't know where it is, look at the
map for a star.

Boss: Saki
She has few attacks, and her combo is easy to dodge. The crescent slash doesn't
travel very far, so you can just run to the sides to avoid it. Dodge when
you're in front of her, so you can get to her back and unleash your combo.
When she gets to 50% health, she'll go Berserk, doubling her power and speed.
The same tactic applies, Saki's combo is just faster to finish, so look out.

Stage 2
---------------------
Get the 1st key in the store to the right of where you begin. Go north until
you reach a room with an escalator. Enter the store to the right of this
escalator to get another key. Exiting the store, go to the corridor to your
left to enter the garage.

You get another key in the garage. Go through the other exit and enter the room
to the left (north of the statue) to get another key. Now exit and go north,
into the door to the left of the escalator, with the sign "BAR ROSES".

Boss: Reiko
She has mainly three attacks: shoot wildly with the shotgun, a combo, and an
upward slash that she juggles with a shotgun shot. The strategy is the about
the same against Saki; You can dodge her shotgun shots by dodging forward.

Stage 3
---------------------
From the room where you start, go north to the same bar from the last stage.
Get the key, exit the bar and enter the door to the right of the entrance of
the store. From here, go to the big door to your right (there's only a bunch of
enemies to the left). In this room, enter the white room to the left of the
escalator, to get into a battle and another key. Now go to the escalator to get
into the 2nd floor.

In the 2nd floor, go to the door behind the store. Now progress normally until
you find a room with white floor, with a few zombies inside. Enter this room to
begin another battle and get another key. Exit through the other door and find
another room with white floor, this time there's no one in. After that, you get
the final key. Go to the escalator (there are two, go to the one that isn't
blocked) and in the 1st floor, go to the corridor to the left of the escalator
(assuming you started with your back turned to it), where the garage was in
Stage 2. Enter the garage, defeat the enemies, and open the door in front of
where you entered the garage from. It's a small white door.

Boss: Doll Sisters
Go for the small sister first, since the other one doesn't move much. Once
you defeat the small sister, just be careful with the spiked ball that comes
out of the floor, since if it hits you while Berserk, it takes a huge chunk of
health (it may even kill you instantly). Anyway, the big sister won't try to
escape you most of the time.

Stage 4
---------------------
After getting the first key, go to the street (not to the fences) for another
exit; this way you don't lose much time. Pass through the garage and you'll be
at the bridge area, from Stage 1. Go back to the beginning of Stage 1 (near the
graveyard), and to the left of it, to access the city. From the entrance, go
to the left until you reach a big steel door. You are now where you fought Saki
on Stage 1. Defeat the enemies here and follow the streets until you get to
the beginnning of stage 4. Near the entrance, you'll see that the fences aren't
blocked anymore, and there's actually a door there. Open the door and face
another corridor full of zombies. After that, another town square full of
zombies, and then the boss.

* You can't open the door in the fence from the beginning of the stage, that's
why you had to go around collecting the keys, and then come back to open it.

Boss: Zombie Bear
On Normal or Hard, I recommend to go Berserk. On Violent and Berserk, you'll
have to be careful about the boss' dash attack, which can instantly kill you if
it hits you more than one time. Don't stay in front of the boss - trading hits
with him is not a smart tactic.

Stage 5
---------------------
There's no mystery here. Just go to the rooms marked with stars every time. On
each of the first rooms, there is a boss from Stage 3, but they're easier to
kill since they're not together.

On the two rooms just before the boss, there is one full of policemen and one
full of animals.

Boss: Zombie Horde
Just a bunch of normal enemies thrown together. Some Giant Zombies and Spiders
will spawn in the middle of arena from time to time. If you're having trouble
hitting the "dogs" and zombies inside the gates (sometimes they get stuck),
hit them with knives or another ranged attack, or even a /\+O.

Stage 6
---------------------
Same as Stage 5, just go to the rooms with stars and get the keys. The right
sub-boss room (after you clear the first room), has the boss from Stage 3 (two
sisters), and the third room has the boss from Stage 4 (Bear).

Boss: Eva
She has mainly 3 attacks: a 3-hit combo with the the extended blade (right,
left, upward strike), her Suicide Attack (where the sword sinks into the floor
and attacks various times) and a normal combo. If you're Berserk, the attack
to look out for is the Suicide Attack, it can kill you pretty fast if all hits
connect. When you take 50% of her health, she'll go Berserk and add a new
attack: two giant waves that travel in a straight line.

She will summon some enemies from time to time too, mostly Mud Zombies.

Final Stage
---------------------
Boss: Berserk Reiko
She has the same attacks from the 2nd fight, plus a sword strike that goes a
straight line across the screen. When you get her below 50% health, she gains
two attacks: one where she creates a cloud of blood that homes into you, and
disappears after some time, and a "blood shockwave" that she creates by
punching the floor. Sometimes this last attack misses, but don't count on it.
She's actually easier once you get her health below 50%, since she doesn't
attack much with her sword. If you're having trouble, use a Power Gem plus an
invincibility item to finish the fight.

After you finish any Story, you can now choose any secondary character on that
Story. Say you finished 2 Sisters Story. Now you can choose Riho or Makoto as
your secondary character.

3. Extras [EXT00]

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Quests
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
There are 12 Quests in total. Quests 1,2,3,4,5,6 and 10 are stage-specific, so
they must be done once on each stage. The others aren't stage-specific.

Note that the quests must be done on Normal difficulty or above; you can't
complete any of them on Easy.

The order here is from top to bottom, left to right.

1 - Sassy Girl
Use the /\+O move against enemies many times, until the Quest Mastered warning
pops up. It's not confirmed if the more enemies you kill with each attack, the
faster you get it, but I would say yes, it may depend on the number of enemies
you kill with every attack.

2 - Genocider
Just kill lots of zombies until the warning pops up. The number varies between
stages, but I would say it's from 1.5x to 2x the number of zombies you would
normally kill on a stage.

3 - Cosmetic Red/Red Makeup
Get covered in a lot of blood (impurities?). The easier way to do this is to
open a Blood Gate and stand in the rain of blood for a while. You don't need to
be in Berserk to do this, but since it drains away your lifebar, it may be
wiser to cure the status if your vitality is low.

4 - Lunatic Libido
Defeat the stage boss while in Berserk. In stage 5, you need to kill only the
last enemy while Berserk. Since it's quite random who the last enemy in that
stage is, just stay around in Berserk so you don't miss it.

5 - Seconds from death
Defeat the stage boss with low health. Just make sure your health is flashing
red and you're ok. I'm not entirely sure on this, but I think you must NOT be
in Berserk mode for this to work, since I never got this while in Berserk.

6 - Bloody Sword
Defeat the stage boss with your sword covered in blood. It doesn't need to be
completely covered in blood (to the point of getting stuck on the enemy), but
almost fully covered. There are a lot of ways to do this, but the best in my
opinion is to tag the other character in, fight the boss, and give the
finishing blow with the first character. Or defeat it using only knives, with
Aya.

7 - The Beautiful Dancer of Death
Use the Lusty Madness move until it stops. This move is done by attacking three
times, waiting a little (just before the character returns to normal stance)
and attacking using []. The character will start to "bob-and-weave" with the
sword. You don't need to hit anything for this to work, but I advise to try it
against a Blood Gate, so you can see the flashes (if you attack the air, you
only see a blur effect).
You need a full Combination Gauge to do this, or you'll stop midway the combo.

8 - The Dance of the Empress
Score a number of consecutive kills.

Your consecutive kills appear on the lower right, as a yellow number.
Level 1: 30 consecutive kills
Level 2: 70/80 consecutive kills
Level 3: 130 consecutive kills

Sometimes you can get it on more or less kills (you can get Level 3 with as
much as 110 kills). I'm not sure if it depends on the combo rate (Ace, Sensual,
Violent...), because I've got 120 consecutive kills on Violent and still didn't
get it. But it's guaranteed that you'll get it at 130 kills. Actually I got it
at just 129 kills.

The only place I remember that has 130 zombies is the left sub-boss room in
Stage 6. From your starting position, look at the map (LEFT on D-Pad). It's the
leftmost room with a star over it.

The method varies, but the most guaranteed is to make Aya go Berserk and kill
the zombies with knives, since it only takes 1 knife to kill a normal zombie
(2 for policemen) in the Normal difficulty. The only catch with this is that
sometimes the zombies won't spawn in time to continue the combo. You can always
exit the room and try again, though.

9 - Queen of the Intact
Clear a stage without getting damaged at all. Just choose Stage 1 on Normal
difficulty, and avoid fighting most enemies. The catch is fighting the boss
without receiving damage, but if you're moderately powerful, you can defeat
the boss in 1 or 2 combos.

Just make sure to not use any items either, or the game will think you healed
yourself, even though the item you used wasn't for that. I used the Power Gem
item one time (just to defeat the boss faster), and the game thought I healed.

10 - Killing Beautiful Moment
Defeat the stage boss in little time. Just go Berserk and kill the boss fast.
There is more time on Stage 5, so don't worry.

11 - COOL Master
Clear the level with a high rate of successful COOL combos.

This one is quite easy if you know what to do. Just go to Stage 1, do a full
COOL combo (you need a full Combination gauge for this), and kill the rest of
the enemies with knives, even the boss. That way, you'll get 100% of successful
COOL combos.

By the way, I saw on some japanese sites that the success rate is about 80% to
complete this, but you don't need it if you do the above...

12 - Zombie Piercer
Use the Pierce attack against Mud Zombies. Lots of times.

To do the Pierce attack (only Aya and Saki can do it), do three slashes, let
the sword rest a little (but before the character returns to normal stance)
and do up + []. The character will pierce and pull an item from the Mud
Zombie. I'm not sure on the numbers for each level (there are three levels),
so you can just re-enter the room to get more Mud Zombies to appear. I prefer
Stage 6 to do this, since there's a room there that spawns a lot of Mud
Zombies.

Easy Cure Gems
---------------------
To get Cure Gems easily, kill enemies while your health is low. The method I
use is to go Berserk, let a lot of zombies spawn, then kill them all with /\+O,
while my health is low. Sometimes you can get 2 Cure Gems in the same batch of
enemies. Never got 3.

4. FAQ [FAQ00]
===============================================================================

Q. I heard this game has co-op?
A. Choose Cooperation Play after choosing Story. The first character will be
Player 1 and the second one will be Player 2. Press L2, R2 or R2 + L2 to
   call the other character in.

Q. What changes depending on the difficulty?
A. The difficulty changes the strenght of the enemies, and the bosses will
always have quite a large mob of zombies with them. In Berserk, you don't
gain any yellow orbs (exp), only red (blood). As soon as you get one of
   these orbs, you go Berserk.
The mob following a boss always changes from for each difficulty. For
example: the mob surrounding the Zombie Bear in Stage 6 is policemen in
Hard and Giant Zombies in Berserk.
Also, your sword becomes covered in blood faster, the higher the difficulty
   you are on.

Q. Do you have a costume description?
A. Aya 2: Aya has a ponytail, and the bikini is light purple.
Aya 3: Aya has black cowgirl clothes, and light-brown hair.
Aya 4: Teenager Aya. She's smaller and her facial features are different.
   Aya 5: Berserk Aya.
Aya 6: Hat behind her back, uses "punk" clothes instead of bikini.

   Eva 2: Businesswoman clothes.

Reiko 2: Same biker outfit, but without the helmet.
   Reiko 3: Teacher outfit.

Saki 2: Saki with loose hair.
Saki 3: Blonde hair, with a different hairstyle.
   Saki 4: Berserk Saki.
Saki 5: White casual dress (the same as the wallpaper one).
   Saki 6: Black sailor outfit.

Riho 2 and Makoto 2: Both dressed as french maids with kitten ears.

Q. What are the uses of Aya 5 and Saki 4?
A. They are always Berserk and can't be cured of this status. However,
you don't lose health gradually, which is a huge plus. They still take
   double the damage, however.

Q. Who are Riho and Makoto Futaba?
A. Riho Futaba is a fictional idol from D3 Publisher, from one of their first
games, LOVE SONGS. D3 Publisher conducted a survey on their games and users
chose Riho as the most popular character. Since then, she appeared in a lot
of other games, including Oneechanpuru (a special edition of the first
Oneechanbara), Daibijin (as the giant woman), in Cat-Fight and All-Star
   Fighting (as a contestant).
   Makoto is her sister.

Q. How much points it takes to fill one of the stats bar completely?
A. Complete bar = 72 points
   Small bar = 6 points

Q. What are the differences between Oneechanbara 2 and Onechanpon?
A. - Riho, Makoto, Hana and Kiku are now selectable.
   - Riho and Makoto have a special theme if you play as any of them.
   - The intro CG is different. It includes the new characters.
   - The new characters get their own stories with their own endings.

Q. What are the differences between Onechanpon (JP) and Zombie Hunters 2 (PAL)?
A. The voiceovers were all cut in the PAL version, and I saw somewhere that
one of the BGMs was removed.

Q. I can't connect a full COOL Combo!?
A. Guide yourself either by the flashes or by the sound of the sword. When you
master it, you don't need either of them. You can always look at some videos
   on Youtube, for reference.

Q. Why can't I open a Blood Gate, even with a COOL Combo?
A. Only Aya can open these gates. If you're playing with her already, you have
to do a specific number of COOL hits, depending on the stage. The higher the
stage, the more COOL hits you need. On Stages 5 and 6, you need a full
Combination gauge to pull a full COOL Combo, although you don't really need
the final attack in Stage 5.

Q. How many waves are there on Survival Mode?
A. I never saw anyone getting to the end, but I would guess that since each
wave of enemies is a difficulty (1-30: Normal, 2-30: Hard), then it has
4 or 5 waves (if you count the Easy difficulty).

Q. Do you get anything special out of Survival Mode?
A. Not that I know.

Q. How many attacks each character can do with a full COOL combo?
A. Aya: 10 hits
   Saki: 9 hits
   Reiko: 7 hits
   Eva: 6 Hits
Riho, Makoto, Kiku and Hana: 4 hits

Q. Are there any COOL combo alternatives instead of [] and /\?
A. Riho, Makoto, Kiku and Hana can do COOL combos with the O button. Just look
at the timing on Practice Mode. They can even mix both [] and O attacks,
which is good for them, since they can only do 4 consecutive hits. Just
remember that you have to mix them up on the 3rd hit or before that,
because the 4th hit isn't cancellable.
