oOoOoO Introduction to this guide oOoOoO
OoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoO
Welcome again to another walkthrough by me: Michele!
Well this is a change of pace for me for those of you being my loyal
followers...Generally I write survival horror games so I won’t be
surprised to find you wondering what I’m doing at a harvest moon FAQ.
Truth be told, I LOVE harvest moon and probably own every single
version of the game on its many different consoles. My favorite
versions are still (in order) Back to Nature, Harvest moon 64 and
magical melody. Anyways, seeing as though there was next to zero FAQS
out there for this game...well you all know the drill, I stepped in and
took charge! (I love doing that kind of stuff :P)
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This guide contains SPOILERS!!! This guide will do one thing; help you
get to point A to B with all the help necessary to do so. If you DO NOT
want someone to hold your hand throughout the game, then please do not
use my guide, I promise I will not be offended! This guide was written
using the Innocent Life copy for the Playstation 2 exclusively. I have
no idea what will and will not be similar in the Psp version of this
game (besides I think there is already another guide that states this.)

oOoOoO The Story oOoOoO
OoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoO
Direct from the instructional booklet:
Life is good for the residents of Heartflame Island, especially
since new robots and automated machines do almost all the work. But
technology is a tool--not an answer to all problems. Maybe that’s why
everyone is a little uneasy about the old stories of strange magic and
a prediction that Flame Mountain will erupt and destroy everything.
That’s why Dr. Hope made you--because you can open and explore ancient
places where no human has ventured for many years.

What’s Different?
*****************************
So what’s different from this game than every other Harvest moon game
out there? In short...A LOT!
First of all the amazing graphics make this game visually
pleasing from start to finish. Attention to detail can really be shown
off here in this game.
Second, (and probably the biggest difference) is that you, the
main character, are a robot. That’s quite a change from being the
loveable humanoid Jack we Harvest Moon fans know and love. Seeing as
though you’re a robot, you are unable to marry in this game. That’s
right, you’ve heard me correctly, NO MARRIAGE! That means no wooing of
any sort in this game. No love for the robot...
Third, you do not start off the game with ANY animals...that
includes your trusty dog. Please see my Pets section of this guide for
how to obtain your fuzzy friends.
Fourth, there is absolutely zero option to give gifts to people
to boost friendship points. People may rejoice or scream as they wish.
Fifth, there is a TON more variations of crops to grow in this
game, from different flowers (sunflower, rose, tulip etc...) to crops
(melons, lemons, green peas etc...) there’s a lot to choose from.
Sixth, your field is huge, but...certain sections are locked and
therefore unusable to you until you can break the seal on them...How
you ask? Please read my Your Farm section for more.
Seventh, you don’t build a barn or henhouse in this game. You own
both from the very beginning but just like your fields you will be
unable to use it until you break the seal.
Eighth, your tools level up with a certain amount of experience
from use, similar to Harvest Moon 64.
Ninth, there are only certain festivals that occur during the
game, and you will be told when they are as the story progresses. Make
sure to remember when they are since you also have no calendar to check
if you’re wrong!
Tenth, remember those harvest sprites that you used to hire to
work on your farm? Well forget them, in this game you receive your very
own robot helper that is ten times better then those pesky sprites.
This thing can collect materials (wood and stone), water your crops,
weed your field and more!
Eleventh, there are plenty more changes and differences in this
game, can you discover them all? (That’s my lame excuse to discontinue
writing this section right now :p)

oOoOoO 5. Storyline Walkthrough oOoOoO
OoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoO
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
PLEASE READ!
Note: This guide will never dictate what kinds of crops you should
grow, what animals you should get or anything like that. The sole
purpose of this guide is to help you, the player, complete the
storyline in a earliest time period possible while still acquiring all
the different items, crops, fruits etc. that the game has to offer.
This is your game, so play it how you choose. Also note that this guide
does and will spoil to the storyline for you. I’ve tried to be as
detailed as possible and in so doing have spoiled much of the story
during my walkthrough. I will not be offended if you choose not to use
my guide at the same time I will not be blamed for ruining your game
experience if you choose to read ahead. Alright, as usual I’ve rambled
too long...lets start a new life shall we?

Friday, Winter 33
*****************************
When you first begin the game, you’ll see different images appearing on
your screen until it eventually forms a heart shaped island. Welcome to
Heartlfame Island! Afterwards, you’ll see a man typing on his computer.
He’s filling out a registration form for someone. Note how he changes
his mind in labeling the person a male instead of a robot.
The scene then switches to the mayors office. The mayor and his son
discuss that the Dr. wishes to go through with registering this person
as a resident of the island.
Back to the lab, you awaken in a pod as Dr. Hope welcomes you. He
introduces himself as Dr. Hope Grain and states that he will be your
father. He then tells you that you’re currently in his residence and
then asks you if you saw the image of the island he sent to you. You
can either choose yes or no. Choose YES to continue the game play.
Choosing no will allow you to watch the opening movie of the different
images forming the island once again.
Dr. Hope then continues to tell you that you’ll need to try and grow
come crops and that this is kind of like you’re initiation to becoming
a full-fledged resident here on the island. He says that to become
fully human you’ll need to learn to value of life. After he says this
you’re free to move now so step out of the shine pod and into the room.
At this time you’re introduced to Gayak, a local farmer on the island.
Gayak has come to teach you to learn how to farm so follow you’re
father out into the sitting room.
Before you leave the lab however, make sure to speak with the Maid.
She’ll explain how to check your inventory. This can be done by
pressing the L1 button. Now head left from the Maid’s position and into
the sitting room. Speak with Gayak and then speak with your father.
He’ll tell you more about the piece of land he has purchased for you
and that he got a great deal on it because most of the land was sealed
(whatever that means...) He then asked you if were ready to learn how
to farm. Select YES to continue the game play.
Gayak then proceeds to drag you off to his farm where you will
experience a farming tutorial. But before you leave, Dr. Hope grants
you his old watering can to use for farming. You receive the <Doctor’s
Watering Can.>
Along the way to Gayak’s farm, your character will notice some little
dudes popping out of the woods. They’ll have a little conversation and
then leave. Gayak will ask you what you thought you heard and then
start running off to his farm.
You’ll arrive at Gayak’s farm and he’ll pull out his virtual farm to
help teach you the basics of farming. So first he’ll explain that you
need to till the soil before you can start planting any seeds and he’ll
give you his old hoe to use. You receive an <Iron Hoe.> He’ll tell you
how to equip your hoe, so go to your inventory by pressing L1 and then
selecting your hoe and pressing triangle. Then proceed to till all nine
squares of earth. Afterward tilling all nine squares, Gayak will give
you a seed bag that’s currently filled with 9 potato seeds. He then
instructs you to plant these seeds in the newly tilled ground.
If you’d liked to get a jump start on your farm, only plant one of the
nine potato seeds that Gayak had given you. After planting one seed,
talk to Gayak to begin the next portion of the tutorial. You just got 8
free seeds! WhooHoo! Gayak will then ask you to go ahead and water the
seed(s) you just planted. Go and do so then speak with him again to
advance your farming tutorial. He then fast forwards time (remember
this is a virtual farm) to the final stage of the potatoes growth so
that you can practice harvesting. Do so to complete your tutorial.
You’ll be tired from your hard days work and Gayak’s wife Marlene will
invite you to stay the night at their house.
*****************************
Saturday, Winter 34
*****************************
Walk downstairs after waking up and you’ll have a meal at Gayak’s
house. Marlene will ask you if the food was good, select YES to make
her happy. Doing so will increase your love, cooking and humor points
by 1. Selecting NO will yield no increase. Speak with Marlene and she
states she has something for you. She will give you another seed bag so
that you can hold more types of seeds. After this is done walk
downstairs and speak with Gayak and he gives you 9 turnip seeds to help
start your farm. So at this point you should have 9 turnip seeds and if
you chose to only plant one seed during the tutorial 8 potato seeds as
well. Return back upstairs to meet another character named Marcia;
she’s the grand daughter of Marlene and Gayak. At this point Marcia
states she’s going to drop you off at Dr. Hope’s house.
Along the walk to Dr. Hopes, Marcia states that she’s seen some Nature
sprites around this area. Anyways, continue to Dr. Hope’s house.
Vita, the maid, will direct you to the dining room so you can eat some
dinner. This is actually a farewell party that the Dr. and Vita are
throwing for you. Afterwards you and the Dr. will have a conversation
in the dining room alone, and he will ask you a question about the
value of life to which you should answer YES. This will make the Dr.
happy and will increase you love and intelligence points by 1.
*****************************
Sunday, Winter 35
*****************************
You’ll wake up in the shine pod. Walk down screen until Vita starts
talking to you. She’ll mention that the Dr. is outside by the garden
(which is directly west of the house.) Go there now and speak with Dr.
Hope to begin the next progression. You both walk back to the house to
meet the artist that’s here to bring you to your farm. At this point
after saying goodbye to the Dr., you and Moonlight head off to your
farm at the Easter Ruins.
Along the way Moonlight will point out different landmarks such as the
south Heartflame cave and you’ll take a lovely jaunt through the valley
towards the ruins. You’ll both walk into the ruins and you’ll enter
your room. Moonlight will remind you that you’re a stranger in this
land and that you’ll need to work hard in order to gain the townsfolk
trust. You’ll head to bed at this point and your human stats will
increase. Your challenge, love and intelligence will all increase by 1
point.
*****************************
Monday, Spring 1
*****************************
Some old man by the name of Franco will awaken you. He’s come to watch
you in action on your very first day. Head over to the elevator and
choose the option to go up to your farm. Franco will explain that he
already tilled some soil for you so that you can start planting those
turnips seeds Gayak gave you the day before. You’ll have to till your
own soil from now after this though this is just a freebee. ^_^ So go
ahead and plant those turnip seeds in the already prepared soil then
till some more soil for the potato seeds and repeat the process. Don’t
forget to water your crops every day or they won’t grow otherwise!
After you’ve finished with your crops, make your way over to the item
box (it’s the brunt orange looking tube to the left of the elevator
with grass on top of it.) Press the O button to bring up a menu and
choose the option to put away items. At this time you can safely put
away both empty seeds bags as well as the power and snow soles.
Note: Only put away the soles if you’re using the analog stick to move
around. If you’re using the directional pad, you’ll need to have the
appropriate soles equipped otherwise you’ll be defaulted to walking.
Using the analog stick will always make you run and thus the soles have
no use :p
After doing this, spend sometime and walk around your farm meet and
greeting all of the people that have come to visit you. You will meet
the majority of the townsfolk at this time so try to make friends yes?
After speaking with everyone, talk with Franco and he’ll remind you
that you will be unable to leave the ruins until after you’ve
successfully harvested your first shipment of crops At this time
everyone will leave your farm for the day. At this point you’re free to
fully explore your ruins home inside and out.
Try to squeeze some time in today to check out both the Drama and Anime
channels.
*****************************
Tuesday, Spring 2
*****************************
After waking up this morning, head up to your farm to discover a man
standing next to your item box along with the mayor’s son. They will
engaged in a conversation talking about how they think farming this
place by hand is crazy and that they thought Dr. Hope would’ve created
a new invention to help auto-farming prosper; they weren’t expecting
you. The mayor’s son implores you to keep the fact that you’re a robot
a secret as he doesn’t believe that the other townsfolk would take
kindly to it.
Just water your crops like you did yesterday and make sure to watch
cooking life today as you’ll receive your very first recipe! Whoohoo!
Since life on the farm is going to be a bit slow for the first couple
days why not try harvesting a very useful item that can help you in
your farming endeavor? Take the elevator down to the ruins entrance and
step outside. Once outside head to your left and walk down a little
slope to reach the waters edge where you should see many yellow looking
things on the ground. This yellow stuff is actually known as strange
moss and when it’s used in conjunction with your crops it can help
retain water for up to 2 days. To use the moss, equip it using the
triangle button then place it on tilled soil. One piece of moss can be
used to spread across 9 different squares of tilled soil! That’s pretty
amazing if you think about it. Once on the ground you can then place
your crop seeds on top of the moss. Water the crops at this time and
you don’t need to worry about watering for the next 2 days! Pretty cool
huh? Strange moss really shines when you have lots of exploring to
accomplish during later parts of the game. There are 42 strange mosses
that you can pick up from this lake area.
There’s also a new TV show you can watch today on both the Cooking Life
and Drama channels.
*****************************
Wednesday, Spring 3
*****************************
After waking up and heading out to your farm, you see more strange
people standing amongst your fields. Speaking with the closest person
reveals that his name is Million and that he runs the town’s
supermarket. After speaking with the very rude youth named Lenny,
Million and he will both leave you to your work.
Water your crops just as before then head downstairs and enter Franco’s
lodgings. Franco lives outside the ruins entrance and to the left in
case you forgot! Speak with Franco and he’ll ask you if you’re used to
farm life yet, select YES to receive a free sickle! You receive an
<Iron Sickle.> Now you can have something else to do today! Remember
all those weeds I asked you no to destroy? Well you can go crazy with
your new sickle! Destroy every weed in sight, and try to maintain a
certain amount of cleanliness around the farm.
********************************************
Thrusday, Spring 4 & Friday, Spring 5
********************************************
Nothing new one these days, just make sure to keep those crops watered!
*****************************
Saturday, Spring 6
*****************************
When you wake up this morning, Franco and Moonlight will be standing in
front of the elevator waiting for you. This only happens today if you
chose to retain the 8 potato seeds from the farming tutorial, otherwise
this same event will occur tomorrow only with your turnip crop. (This
guide is going to assume the potato crop is your first crop.) Speak
with Franco to go up to your farm and harvest your first shipment!
After harvesting and then shipping your first potato harvest, speak
with Franco once again to be congratulated on your farming skills!
He will then give the order to Moonlight to take you into town. Before
you leave the area, Moonlight remembers that he recently found an old
robot that he wants the Dr. the take a look at. Afterwards, you and
Moonlight (with the robot in tow) head off the Dr. Hopes house.
Once you arrive, Moonlight leaves and the Dr. proceeds to perform your
weekly maintenance. After the maintenance, you’ll fall asleep and wake
up the next day at the breakfast table.
*****************************
Sunday, Spring 7
*****************************
You eat a quick breakfast with your father and then you find out that
Million is here to show you around the town. Million and Marcia will
take you on a driving tour of the town showing you all the different
building and explaining to you what goes on around town. Try and pay
attention to all the different locations before the tour ends and
Million and Marcia drop you back off at your farm.
Marcia will give you 25 Asparagus seeds for you to get started with
your new planting; these are a gift from Gayak as well as another seed
bag from Marlene. After they drop you off you’re free to return to town
anytime you wish and you can even cross over the swinging bridge to the
right of the ruins to investigate that area.
Try and pick up a few more different kinds of crops while you’re at the
supermarket today. There’s a spring festival at the end of the month
and Gayak will try to get you to plant all the 6 different kinds of
spring crops in time for the offering. Even if you only buy one of each
type of seed, you’ll still fulfill the festivals requirements in plenty
of time to spare. All you need to do is grow all 6 kinds of crops and
harvest them as you normally would through the shipping pod. I’ll
remind you again as the time gets closer, this is just an FYI!
***************************************
Monday, Spring 8 - Saturday, Spring 13
***************************************
This is really your first week own your own, can you handle it? lol
Anyways, this week try and accomplish watering your crops and
developing a rhythm to your farming style. This week is really about
raising your crops and trying to bring in some extra income so that you
can afford to buy a scale pack, axe and hammer!
*****************************
Sunday, Spring 14
*****************************
Alrighty, you’ve had a fun filled first week on your farm all by
yourself and now it’s time for your check up with your father Dr. Hope.
After taking care of your crops head on over to the good Dr.s house to
see what’s what.
Dr. Hope informs you after your check up that the robot that Moonlight
found is going to need some more time to repair still and he apologizes
for it. He wants the robot to help you with your work on the farm but
since it was a battlebot it needs special modifications. Just as Dr.
Hope is finishing up this statement Gayak bursts into the lab asking
for you.
Gayak has a request for you; he wants you to help provide crops for the
Spring Festival that the village is holding two more Sundays from now.
He specifically asks you to grow some different kinds of crops besides
potatoes and turnips since that what his farm can provide. In addition
to this information, he delivers some more seed bags...three more in
fact! He will also provide you with a spaken new harvest basket!
Excellent! This brings your total number of bags to 6 now! WhooHoo!
Gayak also suggests that providing crops for the festival may make the
townsfolk respect you more and thus they will be more inclined to fix
the north bridge for you! He then asks you if you understood everything
he said, say YES to continue or say NO to have him repeat his request.
Well that’s something you can look forward to at least! I believe I
asked you to start planting different crops previously to this so you
should already have a jump start on growing those new crops!
You should also have enough money to buy a hammer by now so I would
suggest you go and purchase one while you’re here in town if you
haven’t done so already. You’ll need it in the upcoming days. (Hint,
hint ;)
*****************************************
Monday, Spring 15 - Saturday, Spring
*****************************************
In these up coming days you’ll want to focus on making sure you get all
those different crops planted and harvested this week and the next so
that they make it in time for the festival. It shouldn’t be too hard to
grow at least one plot of 3x3’s for each of the 6 different types of
crops...right? If you have some spare land (or time ^_^) you should
consider planting some flowers as they look aesthetically pleasing and
they sell for a decent amount as well ^_^
Let’s try to some up for a scale pack this week if you can so that you
can start collecting mushrooms.
*****************************
Sunday, Summer 21
*****************************
Just like always, once you’re done with your morning chores, head over
to Dr. Hopes house for your weekly inspection. After you step in the
shine pod and everything checks out, the doctor will comment that it’s
certainly been a hot summer and he doesn’t envy you for having to work
in the fields. (Lazy...good-for-nothing...) AHEM! Anyways, Masami will
enter just as you were about to leave. Apparently the doctor was
expecting her and she comments that she’s got something to ask of you
as well as a story to tell.
Seems as though the rumors about the volcano erupting were actually
true, though no ones knows just when it will blow. Also, some
corporation (by the name of Banks) is starting to begin construction
soon...a double blow indeed!
Masami wonders if you’ve already seen the old woman (hermit) over by
the mermaid lake (which you have at this point...right?!?) Then she
goes on to tell you that there are three spirits that live on the
island and they are the Water, Forest and Fire Spirits. The anger of
the Fire spirit is what is threatening the volcano’s impending
eruption. But Masami is certain that the other two spirits (Water and
Forest) are happy that you’ve been trying to restore the ruins.
However, she continues to say that the Fire spirit’s anger has been
provoked in such a manner that it can only continue to grow stronger!
It’s her belief that the only way to stop the Fire spirit is the Water
spirit. At this point Masami gives you a <Red Jewel> making this your
4th red jewel and at this point. Masami wants to you to open the red
sealed door that’s currently locked at the entrance of the Easter
Ruins. She states that deep inside the ruins is a Crest of the Water
Spirit which you must then later bring to the hermit by the mermaid
lake. Dr. Hope at this point places the red jewel into your item box
back at your farm.
Dr. Hope further explains that Masami is a descendant of the original
Easter people. He goes on to tell a story about the Easter people. He
says that a long time ago the Easter people wanted to defeat their
enemies (the Volcano people) so badly that they went and stole the
Water spirit’s crest in hopes to use its power against their enemies.
They tricked the Forest spirit into letting them enter the mermaid lake
tower and took the crest from there. However, being as they were only
humans, they could not control the power of a spirit crest. The three
spirits sealed off the land and since the Easter people were
farmers...they couldn’t harvest from the land and eventually died off.
The Water spirit sealed the Forest spirit for allowing humans to trick
him. He concludes with his apparent guilt for having to rely on you to
save the island.
There nothing more for you to do here, speaking with the Dr. only
repeats the legend and Vita never has anything new to say except that
the family’s cat has been under the weather due to the heat.
At this point you can continue the day, mining, fishing, and
farming...whatever your daily routine is. BUT don’t forget, once you
arrive back at your farm; make sure to pick a new plot of land to
release and place the four red jewels just like before. Tomorrow starts
your adventure into the Easter Ruins!
*****************************
Monday, Summer 22
*****************************
Alright people are you ready to continue exploring the Easter Ruins?
After you wake up don’t forget to go up to your farm to watch the
unlocking of your new red farm plot! Also, just because this is an
exploration day, doesn’t mean you can forget about your crops and
animals! Make sure you take care of them first before exploring!
Once you’ve taken care of your farm and animals, use your elevator to
go down to the ruins entrance. Walk around the other side of the
elevator and enter the newly unlocked red door. Once you’re in this new
area, you’ll notice that there are 4 doors to open here...2 on your
left hand side and 2 on your right hand side. Unfortunately, the upper
right door is locked by an orange seal...Looks like you’ll have to come
back later once you’ve collected 4 orange jewels. The other 3 doors
however are free to open and explore.
You can explore the cave at your leisure, though it shouldn’t take more
then 2 days max to accomplish (One day if you’re really fast!) Below is
a complete list of all the items you can acquire in this cave via the
three open doors excluding the orange sealed door.
[] Easter Hammer (level 2 hammer)
[] Purple Jewel
[] Purple Jewel
[] Red Jewel
[] Red Jewel
[] Red Jewel
[] Green Jewel
[] Orange Jewel
[] Orange Jewel
[] 999g
[] Angel Ribbon
[] Water Crest
Make sure to try and find everything this cave has to currently offer!
Tomorrow we’ll go and present the Water Crest to the hermit at the
mermaid lake!
As an additional note, try and squeeze in some time to watch the
cooking life show on TV as this week’s episode discusses the joys of
baking oven dishes! Also on today are new episodes for “Where’s My
Mommy? A Kitten’s Journey” and “Final Z Rangers.”
*****************************
Tuesday, Summer 23
*****************************
Once again, wake up and take care of your farm and animals first! After
doing so head down your elevator to the ruins entrance and let’s get
going! You can either take your buggy or the raft to reach the hermit,
though as usual I would suggest your buggy as you will transverse the
distance faster but it’s up to your personal play style.
Upon reaching the hermits hut present the Water Crest to her and she’ll
give you the Forest Crest in exchange. Now we must visit the mermaid of
the mermaid’s lake! From the hermits hut, travel west (left screen)
until you reach a new area. This area is filled with papayas and
bananas (as well as rambutans) but that’s not why we’re here. Continue
traveling west (left screen) winding around the various paths here
until you reach another area. This new area is smaller and holds some
more papaya trees as well as cacao trees, if you haven’t picked any I
suggest you do so while you’re here to complete your item list.
When you’re done with that, head to the base of the lake and head as
close to the water as you can while pressing the triangle button until
you see the mermaid appear. Once she does you’ll present her the Forest
Crest the hermit just gave you and she’ll inform you that she’ll clear
the mist blocking the way in the giant’s forest. WooHoo!
Since it’s probably late in the day today, head back to your farm and
get some rest. Tomorrow we’ll go and explore the newly opened path into
the Giant’s Forest! However, if you wanted to make another brief stop
along the way back by the hermit she’ll present you with some
interesting news. It seems as though there is hope for the island after
all...that is...if you can calm the Fire Spirit’s rage. Seems as though
you’ll need to get the Fire Spirit’s crest and place it on the Altar of
Ice but since we have no clue how to obtain either of those items right
now all we can do is speculate.
*****************************
Wednesday, Summer 24
*****************************
Wake up and take care of what you need to on your farm. When you’re
done head done to the ruins entrance and head over to the raft this
time (taking the buggy will only take you out of the way today and you
can’t use it past a certain point in the forest anyways...) Walk
yourself over to the path leading into the cave that was earlier
cleared by the hermit. Once in the cave, head north and take the stairs
down to reach the Giant’s forest!
Once here, you’ll right away notice two treasure chests across the
fallen log. Opening the right most chest will yield the level 3
watering can - The Monsoon Watering Can. However, when you try to open
the other chest you get a message saying that’s its held shut by a
mysterious force...Looks like we’ll have to come back here later to
open it.
Continue heading north deeper into the forest and enter a new area. In
this area you’ll notice two harvest sprites standing here. Speaking
with them informs you that they are the Nature Sprite of Knowledge and
the Nature Sprite of Friendship. They’re currently lost in this forest
and are unable to find their way out because the Nature Sprite of
Memory is currently no where to be found! Incidentally, don’t bother
trying to open any of the other chests in this area...they are all
sealed tight by the same mysterious force sealing the previous chest
back by the fallen log. However, concerning the missing sprite, I think
the hermit should know something seeing as though she seems
knowledgeable in all things spirit related.
Head back to the hermit today if you still have time and listen to what
she has to say. She informs you that she already knows the Memory
Sprite will not appear and implies it’s because of something that she
did. She says that he might show his face if he sees people being
happy. Then she tells you that she’ll be waiting for you in the
mermaid’s tower and leaves (through the wall! anyone else think that’s
a bit...unnatural?). If you leave and then re-enter the hut you’ll
notice that she also took her four blue jewels with her.
What a mystery! Looks like we’ll have more investigating to do in the
days ahead. For now however, it’s probably really late in the day so
head home for now and we’ll pick this up later and by later I mean in
winter when we can cross the lake to reach the mermaids tower.
************************************************
Thursday, Summer 25 - Saturday, Summer 27
************************************************
Well, it’s back to the old farm routine. Harvest any crops you have and
make sure to take care of your animals. As a side note, if you didn’t
manage to get a chance (with all the running around we’ve been doing)
to collect any blueberries, they’re in season now so go and grab a few
for your crop list!
*****************************
Sunday, Summer 28
*****************************
Head over to Dr. Hopes after taking care of your farm and animals for
your weekly checkup. After everything checks out the Dr. will tell you
that an accident happened in the cave that held the spring festival.
Apparently some of the coolant leaked into the cave and is spreading
fumes everywhere. The Dr. then mentions that it would be best to keep
your distance from the cave for a while.
Talk to Vita and she informs you that Gallion had spoke with the Dr.
about how to get rid of the fumes. Apparently the Dr. had mentioned
that planting herbs might help clear the air in the cave. Why don’t we
head over to Gallion’s house and speak with him about this? Wait until
it’s 16 o’clock and then head into his house. His house is located
right behind Million’s supermarket.
Gallion will mention that he was as surprised as everyone about the
accident and continues to say that though the fumes aren’t toxic...they
sure do stink! (So THAT’S why no one really wants to go in there...)He
mentions that he asked his son Million to start stocking Earth Power
Sand and herbs so that you can start purifying the cave once again.
Since the store won’t have anything for sale at this time of the day,
you might as well head home.
*****************************
Monday, Summer 29
*****************************
Since we know that earth power sand should be in stock today let’s head
over to the supermarket and buy some up! Unfortunately, Million doesn’t
carry the herbs seeds we need to grow actually in his super market.
However, he did stock them for you to buy in your vending machines back
on your farm! You’ll need 25 of either a combination of Lavender and
Rosemary seeds...or simply buy all Rosemary seeds since they grow
faster then Lavender does (that’s 7 days for Rosemary and 10 days for
Lavender). That doesn’t mean you still shouldn’t drop in Million’s
store as he does carry earth power sand which is needed to make the
soil soft enough to be able to till. Make sure you buy enough earth
power sand to soften the earth (that’s 5 in all folks) and enough herb
seeds to last you through fall! Why so many you ask? Well another
unfortunate thing about these herb seeds is that even though they can
be purchased in your vending machine, they can ONLY be purchased during
the summer season...and they can be damaged during a storm even though
they’re inside a cave. And if you only bought enough initially and a
storm blows away your herbs and its autumn...guess what? You’re out of
luck until the next summer season when the herbs will be available
again! So DON’T FORGET to buy extra seeds (just in case!)
After purchasing the seeds from the vending machines on your farm and
some earth power sand from Million’s Store, head over to the cave and
begin softening the soil. Then plant your seeds and add a little water
and you’re done! for today at least... Don’t forget to make sure and
water these herbs until they mature and clear the air of the cave.
There’s no close spot to refill your watering can, so make sure to fill
it up before coming to the cave. You can go ahead and add this to your
daily duties check list now ^_^
Make sure to squeeze in some time to watch the final episode of Cooking
Life today as well as new episodes for Where’s My Mommy and Final Z
Rangers.
******************************************
Tuesday, Summer 30 - Saturday, Summer 34
******************************************
Just make sure, in addition to all your other farm chores, that you
don’t forget to water those herbs! Other then that, this week should go
by similarly as the others.
*****************************
Sunday, Summer 35
*****************************
After taking care of your farm duties and tending to those herbs in the
cave, head over to Dr. Hope’s house for your weekly checkup. The Dr.
mentions that he was under the impression that his cat was sick but it
looks like she turned out to be pregnant instead! Guess you can expect
a litter of kittens pretty soon ^_^ Wonder if he’ll let you keep some?
Other then this eventful news, nothing new happens today.
Also, make sure to find some time to watch Miss Cute, Witch in Training
today as this should be episode 10 for those of you that have been
watching regularly!
******************************************
Monday, Autumn 1 - Tuesday, Autumn 2
******************************************
With a new season comes new planting so make sure to sickle up any old
crops that are left hanging around (or get your robot to do it) and
start reforming your fields to make way for some new crops! There are
new seeds to be bought at both Million’s and your vending machine and
since this is the harvest season, there’s tons to choose from! Either
way, you should try to have at least one plot of eggplant to round out
another recipe on your cooking list...as well as one of plot of every
other crop (excluding flowers) to fulfill another objective for
completing Liberta’s dictionary (if you plan on completing it that is.)
Other then that you can treat these two days as any other. Just
remember to continue watering those herbs in the cave as it can get
pretty crazy with all the new planting you’re probably doing!
*****************************
Wednesday, Autumn 3
*****************************
If you’ve been watering those herbs in the cave everyday up till now,
when you enter the cave you’ll receive a message stating that the
noxious fumes have subsided. This will only happen today if you planted
only Rosemary in the cave, if you planted any Lavender you’ll have to
wait 3 more days to receive this message.
When you exit the cave, Marco will call out to you congratulating you
for planting the herbs and clearing the cave of the fumes. In fact,
he’s so appreciative that he asked Dr. Hope if he could borrow the
blueprints for Forte (the default name for your helper robot) so that
he could add a new feature to him! What a generous guy! Don’t worry if
you don’t see any changes in Forte today however, as it takes Marco the
entire day to finish the updates!
There’s a new autumn fruit ripening at this time; the pawpaw should be
ready for picking!
*****************************
Thursday, Autumn 4
*****************************
Today’s the day Forte’s upgrades should be completed! Take a look at
his new menu by scrolling over on screen (after selecting his icon on
your menu screen first) and you should see an entire new listing of
things he can now do! However, be careful when picking which upgrade
you want as it’s a one time deal and once picked your choice cannot be
changed for the entire day! There are four options that you can upgrade
and all are good candidates...pick whichever you feel fits best with
your play style! You’ll undergo the effect of whatever you picked for
an entire day. However, the next day the upgrade you choose the day
before will be temporarily undergoing maintenance and unusable for up
to 4 days (depending on the skill) so you’ll have to pick another
upgrade if you want to gain the added effects from it.
******************************************
Friday, Autumn 5 - Saturday, Autumn 6
******************************************
Just your normal day on the farm.
*****************************
Sunday, Autumn 7
*****************************
After taking care of your farm animals, it’s time once again for your
weekly check over at Dr. Hope’s place. Once you enter the Dr. lab, you
should notice right away that there are two new additions to the room
sitting in the basket to the left of your father. Looks like Dr. Hope’s
cat finally had her babies! Speak with the Dr. to begin your check up.
After everything checks out (as usual) the doctor will mention that he
has both good and bad news to tell you. The good news is his cat had
her babies (which you can already plainly see...) Dr. Hope mentions
that you may have one if you so choose and that the one you don’t pick
is going to be sent to a relative overseas so it’ll still have a good
home regardless. But he wants you to give it some thought before you
make a decision because you can’t change your mind once you’ve chosen!
Just as he’s about to tell you the bad news...Marcia burst’s in the
room and bluntly asks if the mother cat had died. (I’m guessing that
was the bad news...) Dr. Hope states that yes, his cat died just after
giving birth and he feels that the strain of giving birth at such and
old age just worn her out. Dr. Hope encourages both you and Marcia to
visit her grave. Marcia and you visit the grave site and Marcia begins
to cry. She comments that you’re strong for not showing emotion over
the loss but that she knows you’re sad.
It’s all too much for Marcia to handle and she runs off leaving you by
the grave. You feel something inside you stir after experiencing the
cats death and Marcia’s tears...you’ve just experienced true sadness.
Your human stats will yield a major increase. Love will increase by 15
points, Creativity will increase by 5 points and Humor will increase by
10 points.
At this point you can head back inside the Doctor’s lab and choose
which kitten you’d like to bring back home with you. You’re choices are
either the brown kitten on the left or the white kitten on the right.
Think of a good name for whichever you decide and congratulations,
you’ve received your final pet! You can head back to your farm now if
you which as the kitten will not appear at your farm until tomorrow.
**************************
Monday, Autumn 8
**************************
This is just another regular day to focus on your farm.
There are three new wild fruits blossoming if you want to go and
harvest from them; they include the olive, apple and chestnut trees.
**************************
Tuesday, Autumn 9
**************************
After taking care of your daily farm activates, head on over to
Million’s Supermarket for a special request. Speak with Nana (she’s the
lady with the teal hair) and she’ll mention that she really wants to
win at the mushroom festival this year but she’s not confidant that she
can with using her usual dishes. She asks you to collect Porcini
mushrooms for her and she mentions that they should be in season
tomorrow. She says that if you do bring her some of these mushrooms
that she’ll make sure to reward you. All you need to do is fill your
scale pack and bring them to the supermarket to deliver to her. She
further mentions that she requires 100g worth of these mushrooms. Guess
we’ll be picking mushrooms tomorrow eh? You can continue your day just
like always after speaking with Nana.
**************************
Wednesday, Autumn 10
**************************
After the usual chores, jump in your buggy and drive over to the
eastern mushroom forest to see if we can’t find any of these special
mushrooms Nana mentioned. Once in the eastern forest, follow the
winding trail as is wraps around to the far back of the area. You
should see several very tiny mushrooms that appear to be red capped. DO
NOT pick them at this stage as they are not yet fully mature. Let’s
come back in a few days when they’ve matured enough to be properly
picked. This day was simply to make sure you knew where to look for
them once they are ripened ^_^

oOoOoO 7. Television Channel Guide oOoOoO
OoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoO
As with all Harvest Moon games, your television will play an important
part in deciding what you do with your day. This section will help
explain the various channels that you can watch from the TV in your
room. For more detail regarding the various TV show scripts please see
that section in the guide.
***************************
Weather News
***************************
This is probably going to be the channel that you will view most (of
not every single) day(s). This channel features Neo, your local weather
forecaster (that just happens to be a scientific fortune teller.) Neo
will predict the tomorrows weather for you every single day. This
channel really shines in season’s summer, autumn and winter when
Heartflame Island experiences storms.
Neo will predict tomorrow’s weather as being one of three outcomes. The
first being sunny. During this forecast the sun will shine brightly and
will be the weather you experience through most of the game. During
this weather you will still need to water your crops and can move about
at normal speed.
The second weather forecast is rainy. During rainy weather, the rain
takes care of any watering that you might have needed to do for the
entire day! Very convenient when you have large amounts of crops
growing on your fields. However, be careful during rainy weather when
planting new crops. Rarely when plating in the rain will your seeds get
washed away. You can still walk about your farm and the island at
normal speed.
The third forecast is stormy weather. This is the worst of all possible
forecasts and should be avoided at all costs! (See my crops guide on
how to help counter a storm from happening.) During this type of
weather your crops do not need to be watered...but at a price! Try to
wake up earlier then usual (4:00AM) and harvest all ripened crops
before the storm hits. When you arrive at your farm you’ll notice that
perhaps one (or several) crops are missing from your fields. This is
due to the storms severity and will only worsen as the storm continues
through the night. Fragile crops have a high chance of not surviving
the storm and will be blown away thus loosing that crop. That’s not to
say you should plant only hardy crops as they also have a chance
(though slimmer then fragile crops) of being destroyed as well. Plant
with care as you will ALWAYS receive at minimum 2 storms per season
with spring being the exception. Also, during a storm your character
will move at half his normal speed due to the high winds and this
includes the buggy as well! You will continue moving at normal speed in
caves however.

Herbal Garden
***************************
This channel features a new (and very welcome) addition to this Harvest
Moon game. Unlike its predecessors, Innocent Life has very advanced
technology and when it comes to harvesting flowers, there’s no
exception. If you plan on planting flowers on your farm you will come
to use this channel a lot. Instead of harvesting your flowers like you
would crops, the islanders have decided that flowers are best when
picked fresh from your farm as opposed to being shipped where they can
get damaged. Any time you have fully blossomed flowers growing on your
farm, run back downstairs and watch this channel. When you select this
channel for viewing, you will have three choices.
The first option is to ship flowers. Select this option to have the
gardeners come and harvest the flowers for you fresh the very next
morning. Select which flowers you would like to have shipped by
selecting them with the triangle button then hitting finish. The
gardeners will go over your order and ask you if this is ok. Tell them
yes and they will come by your farm tomorrow morning and harvest your
flowers for you! No matter how early you wake up you can never see them
harvesting your flowers, their just that fast!
The second option is to check your flowers status. This option will
show you exactly how many flowers you have growing on your farm listed
by type and how many flowers you’ve shipped that day. This option is
slightly useless as you can’t due anything at this menu (besides, I’ve
sure you remember how many flowers you planted right?)
The third option prompts you to hear an explanation. This then prompts
a second selection screen in which you can hear explanations about
shipping, seeds and flowers status. Choose this option to hear more
about how shipping works about how to acquire new seeds and about
understanding your flower’s status. But I’ve already done that so no
worries ^_^

Cooking Life
***************************
This show is critical if you plan on acquiring all the possible recipes
that the game has to offer and starts you on your way to becoming a
budding chef! Also, watching all 10 shows allows you to be able to
complete a winter request required later in the game so this channel is
a must watch even if you never set foot in the kitchen!
This channel features Dorothy, the mayor of Heartflame Island’s wife,
as the star chef. During airtime, she tells you all about a different
type of cooking skill once every week. The skills you will learn are
listed below in the order they are acquired in:
Drinks
Cutting
Cutting (Advanced)
Boiling
Cutting Drinks
Boiling (Advanced)
Grilling
Grilling (Advanced)
Oven Baked Dishes
Over Baked Treats
You cannot cook a specific meal or drink until you’ve first watched the
show but once you’ve learned it you can keep using that skill forever!
For more on the different recipes you can learn and their potential
requirements please see my cooking section for more details.
***************************
Drama
***************************
This channel is just for fun but eludes to different storyline
progressions throughout the game. It’s not required that you watch this
channel before those storyline events will occur though so don’t worry
if you’ve never seen any shows or missed an episode.
There are two shows that can be viewed from this channel and occur
during different times of the week. The first being “Where’s My Mommy?
A Kitten’s Journey” which airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. This
program alludes to a pet that you acquire later in spring of your first
year.
The second show features a terribly depressed young child entitled
“Melancholy Woods” and is about the tragic story of a young boy growing
up. If you wanted to get technical one could argue that the plot of
this show alludes to the child being you while starting off your farm
life...but I’m not too sure on this point. This show airs Tuesdays and
Thursdays.
***************************
Anime
***************************
This channel also is just for fun but similar to the drama channel
eludes to different storyline progressions throughout the game. Again,
it’s not required that you watch to show to still have the events
occur.
There are also two shows available for viewing on this channel. The
first being “Final Z Rangers” which airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and
Fridays. This show features everyone’s favorite super team the power
rangers (even though they don’t come right out and say it...you know
it’s them!) battling an alien life form that has come to earth for
unknown reasons. This show alludes to a certain event that happens
during your second year of game play.
The other show is my personal favorite and is entitled “Miss Cute,
Witch in Training” and airs on Saturdays and Sundays. This program
features a girl sent to the human world to train so that she can become
a full-fledged witch! Though she has a few blunders she means well...
***************************
World Ranch
***************************
This is the channel for all those hoping to add ranch life to their
already hectic farming schedule. Until you acquire all four blue gems
and place them on the altars on your farm and break the seal you can’t
really do much with this channel. But once you can...the wide world of
ranching really opens up to you! Viewing this channel will prompt you
to three choices.
The first option is to buy livestock and as you’ve probably guessed
allows you to purchase your very own animals. Selecting this option
will have the rancher tell you exactly how many more of a certain type
of animal you can still acquire for your farm. You cannot acquire more
then 5 animals of any type which means you can only have 5 cows, 5
chickens and 5 sheep maximum for a total of 15 animals.
However, if you are not at maximum capacity you many purchase more
animals. To purchase an animal, select the type of animal you want to
buy. Once you’ve selected the animal the rancher will prompt you to
give the animal a name. Unlike other Harvest Moons to date, you cannot
name your own animals which I thought was a bit of a bummer. There’s a
list of pre-picked names for you to choose from. If you aren’t fond of
a certain name select it anyways but choose the “NO” response to the
“do you like this name” question to bring up a new set of names. You
can continue in this fashion scrolling through the different names
until you find one that you like. The animal you just bought will
arrive at your farm the very next day.
The second option is to sell your livestock. This option allows you to
sell off any animals that you no longer want. The higher the animal has
in affection for you the more its worth. I do not suggest selling off
your animals unless you’re in a financial bind (which shouldn’t be
happening unless you aren’t planting crops or flowers or not gathering
any wild fruits or mushrooms) or unless you’re completely overburdened
with too many animals and are unable to take care of them all.
The third and final option is to hear an explanation. Similar to the
herbal gardens explanation option, here you can learn about livestock,
about shipping, about chicks and about your livestock’s ranks. But I’ve
got you covered in the farm animals section of this guide ^_^
OoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoO
oOoOoO 8. Tools and Their Upgrades oOoOoO
OoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoO
Yet another new addition to this version of Harvest Moon is the ability
to acquire new tools and their upgrades. As with the other games, you
start out your farming career with only very hard to use Iron tools.
Every tool that is made from Iron as well as Dr. Hopes watering can
consumes lots of PP over time and only waters, chops, crushes and
sickles 1 square at a time, making farming...well...a lot of work!
Each tool you acquire throughout the game can level up with a maximum
of 3 levels. How you level up the tool depends on the type of tool
being used! To level up an axe, you must chop up the branches that
sometimes litter your farm fields; to level up your watering can you
must water tilled soil and so forth. Ever wondered what those little
numbers were that appear anytime you do a chore on your farm or in the
mines (i.e. watering, chopping branches, breaking stone...etc...?) Each
time you use a tool you gain that many experience points towards the
tools next level. Let’s say you watered one square of your crops with
your Doctor’s Watering Can, a little number 1 should have appeared
above your characters head after you did the action right? Well
congratulations because you just got 1 experience point towards your
watering can’s next level! The higher the level your tools are, the
faster you’ll be able to acquire experience points towards your tools
next level. For another example, let’s say you have just received
Masami’s Watering Can, if you stand in front of your crops and briefly
tap the triangle button, you’ll water 3 squares at a time and a little
number 3 should have appeared over your head...You’ve just acquired 3
more experience points towards your final level! But should you have
pressed and held the triangle button while using Masami’s Watering Can
for a few second longer standing in the center of a plot of 9 crops,
your character would have done a little spin and thus have watered all
9 spaces but the little number above your head would’ve read 10.
WHOOHOO! That means even though you only watered 9 squares you received
10 experience points for your trouble. So see? Acquiring higher level
in your tool and receiving higher tool upgrades really makes a huge
difference!
To be able to use the next upgrade for your tools, you must first
“master” the previous tools level. What I mean by that is you cannot
use a level 2 tool until you have two stars next to your tools name.
All tools only can acquire 3 levels in this game. This can be seen on
the menu that looks like your characters face after pressing the R1
button. It takes a certain amount of experience points in order to
reach the next level of a tool. You must therefore try to use your
tools as often as possible in order to be able to use higher level tool
upgrades. Remember, even though you have a level 3 tool, you’ll be
unable to use it until you’ve reached 3 levels (or three stars) with
your current tool!
Each time you use a tool, depending on its level will consume a set
number of PP or Power Points with the highest level tools consuming the
most PP in a single use. If at anytime you run out of PP you are then
unable to complete any tasks, even if the task is picking up and object
from the ground (as that wastes PP as well!) To restore your PP you can
do one of two things, head over to either the Doctor’s House or the
Fisherman’s Hut and step inside the shine pod there...this will restore
all your PP or stand still for a half-hour (game time) and you’re PP
will replenish slowly.
Below I’ve listed all the tools and how to find better and more
efficient upgrades as you continue through the story.
***************************
Watering Cans
***************************
Note: A nifty little addition in this game allows you to never water
the same spot twice, thus not wasting anymore PP then you have too!
Groovy!
***Doctor’s Watering Can***
You begin the game with the Doctor’s Watering Can that you acquire from
Dr. Hope. It’s not very good and only is able to water 1 square of
crops at a time. It can hold up to 25 uses of water before you have to
refill it at a watering hole. You must use this watering can 500 times
before it’ll gain a level and become level 2.
***Masami’s Watering Can***
Masami’s Watering Can is the second watering can you get in the game.
You can acquire this watering can only after you’ve already reached
level 2 by using the Doctors Watering Can. Once your watering can is at
level 2, seek out Masami in either her house which is behind Million’s
Supermarket during the day or at the bar she runs which is the building
directly in front of Million’s Supermarket during the evening after
16:00pm. This watering can is very versatile as it has two functions.
The first function is that if you briefly tap the triangle button while
facing your crops you will water 3 squares of crops at once. The second
function is that if you happen to stand in the center of a plot of 3x3
crops and hold down the triangle button for a few seconds, upon release
your character will do a little spin and water all 9 spaces at once!
Very convenient indeed! This watering can is able to hold 100 uses of
water before you have to refill it at a watering hole.
***Monsoon Watering Can***
The Monsoon Watering is the final upgrade you can acquire to complete
your watering can collection. You do not need to have max level on
either previous watering can before you acquire this. You can acquire
this after clearing the mist away from the entrance to the Giants
Forest. It’s in a blue treasure box to the right of the fallen log
bridge. This watering can allows you to water crops even in the winter!
This can has an extensive reach and can cover 9,999 soil squares at
once! Legendary indeed! However, you must have reached level 3 (max
level) before you can even use the can. This requires you to water with
either your Doctor’s Watering Can or Masami’s Watering Can roughly
3,000 soil squares. The soil must be tilled but does not need to
contain crops. I suggest when leveling this tool up that you do not use
your robot helper or use strange moss as both do not allow you to gain
watering points at all!
***Water Pistol***
Although this isn’t technically an upgrade it’s still a tool that can
be used for watering your crops. This tool can be purchased at Millions
Supermarket for. I would recommend against buying this tool as it
breaks after a certain number of uses...not a very effective tool if I
might add.

Hoes
***************************
***Iron Hoe***
Another tool you’ll receive in your first days on farming, this tool is
given to you by Gayak after you’ve completed the farming tutorial on
his farm. This hoe can only till soil one square at a time. You must
use the Iron Hoe 200 times before it’ll gain another star and become a
level 2 tool.
***Master’s Hoe***
This hoe is the next hoe you’ll acquire in the game and is level 2. To
find this tool, you must have placed the four blue jewels on the altars
at your farm to calm the sandstorms in the desert. Once that has been
accomplished you must speak with the hermit that lives east from the
desert and north from the plains in a little tropical area. Once she
clears the large branches blocking your path towards another cave (this
one being located next to the hot springs cave in Southwest Bank of
East Lake) you can access the third cave in the game. The Master’s Hoe
is located in one of the blue treasure chests in this forestry cave. If
you hold down the triangle button while standing near the front of a
plot of farm land, you can charge your hoe up and upon release will
till 9 squares of soil in one blow! (This excludes barren land which
you must first use earth power sand on to soften it enough to till.)
You must now till 800 squares with this hoe to gain the third and final
star making this tool level 3.
***************************
Hammers
***************************
***Iron Hammer***
This is one of your tools that you must purchase from Million’s
Supermarket and its purchase price is 650g. Just like your other iron
tools, the iron hammer can only crush one small rock at a time and
can’t even dent a boulder! You’ll need a more advanced tool to destroy
those scattered amongst your farm fields. You’ll need to use the Iron
Hammer 250 times before it’ll gain another star and become a level 2
tool.
***Easter Hammer***
This is the next hammer you can acquire in the game and is a level 2
hammer. To obtain this item you must progress in the storyline until
you receive 4 red jewels and break the seal on your farm fields. Upon
doing so, enter Easter Ruins via the entrance to the ruins through the
red door. In this new area there are 4 doors that you can choose to
take. Take the first door on your left (the bottom left most door) and
continue walking along the wall until you come to a blue treasure
chest. This chest contains the Easter hammer, a more powerful hammer
that when charged can destroy those boulders on your fields!
***************************
Axes
***************************
***Iron Axe***
This is another tool that you must first purchase at Million’s
Supermarket with a purchase price of 480g. As with all the axes, this
axe can only chop up branches that sometimes appear on your farm. The
Iron Axe can result in a variation of wood to appear upon chopping a
branch. Sometimes when chopping a branch with this axe, no wood will be
yielded and other times you may receive one or two stacks of wood which
results in 4 or 6 experience points respectively. You must use the Iron
Axe 50 times before it’ll gain another star and become a level 2 tool.
***Master’s Axe***
This axe is the second you’ll acquire in the game and is at level 2. To
find this tool, you must have placed the four blue jewels on the altars
at your farm to calm the sandstorms in the desert.
The Master’s Axe
is located in one of the blue treasure chests in this forestry cave.
Unlike the Iron Axe, when using the Master’s Axe you will always
receive two stacks of wood upon chopping a branch on your farm which
will always yield you 6 experience points.
***************************
Sickles
***************************
***Iron Sickle***
You can acquire this tool in one of two ways. The first way will cost
you no money as you can acquire this sickle for free from Franco. On
the third day of spring of your first year, speak with Franco in his
house that’s adjoined to your ruins home. He’ll ask you if you’re
getting used to farming, to which of course you should answer YES when
prompted. He’ll say that’s good to hear and he will give you this
sickle for free! Yippy!
The other way of obtaining this sickle is if you missed the event
(mentioned above) with Franco. You can still purchase this version of
the sickle from Million’s Supermarket for the price of 320g.
As with all the other iron tools, this sickle is only able to cut down
1 squares worth of weeds or dead plants at a time. This is also
probably the slowest tool to raise so try to make sure to sickle weeds
to level this tool up before ordering your robot to do it for you.
You’ll need to use the sickle 150 times before it’ll reach level 2.
***Volcano Sickle***
This is the next upgrades for the sickle collection and is a level 2
tool. To find this tool, you must have placed the four blue jewels on
the altars at your farm to calm the sandstorms in the desert. Once that
has been accomplished you must speak with the hermit that lives east
from the desert and north from the plains in a little tropical area.
Once she clears the large branches blocking your path towards another
cave (this one being located next to the hot springs cave in Southwest
Bank of East Lake) you can access the third cave in the game. The
Volcano Sickle is located in one of the blue treasure chests in this
forestry cave. When you charge up this tool by pressing and holding the
triangle button you are able to cut up to 3 squares of weeds or dead
plants at once. You’ll need to use the sickle 300 times until it’ll
reach level 3.
***Boomerang***
This nifty little tool isn’t an upgrade at all but a fun addition to
the game. Similar to the water pistol the boomerang can be purchased at
Millions Supermarket for. I would recommend against buying this tool as
it breaks after a certain number of uses...not a very effective tool if
I might add. It’s used to cut down weeds and dead plants but the sickle
does a much better job :p
***************************
Fishing Pole
***************************
Unlike your other tools, you don’t actually even get the opportunity to
own your own fishing pole. So then how do you raise this tools level?
Well, you’ll still need to go fishing! lol I’m sure I’ve confused
you...so let me explain. First of all, don’t even worry about raising
the fishing poles level until you’ve found and placed the 4 blue jewels
on your farm. Once you have done this however, you’ll have access to
the desert which is where you can now start fishing! First you’ll need
to meet the fisherman; he lives in the Heartflame Dunes which is one
screen down from the desert. Enter his hut and engaged in conversation
with him and become friends with him and this will allow you to later
be able to fish.
After this initial conversation, you are able to fish, sort of. Anytime
you wish to fish you must first seek out the fisherman. The fisherman
moves from location to location depending on the season. In the summer,
the fisherman will be sitting along the cliff to the right of the horse
pasture in the Heartflame Plains. In the autumn, the fisherman will be
sitting along the river bank directly across the repaired bridge in the
Southwest Bank of East Lake.
To begin fishing, simply speak to the fisherman once he’s in his
fishing location and he’ll ask you if you want to fish here. Select YES
to borrow one of his fishing rods and you’ll begin to fish standing
directly next to him. Unlike the other Harvest Moon games there will be
no indicator as to whether or not you have a fish on the line. You’ll
just have to allow a few minutes to pass before reeling in your line.
Sometimes you’ll get a fish and sometimes you won’t; it’s really all a
matter of luck here folks.
You’ll receive 5 points from every small fish you catch and a whopping
30 points for any large fish you haul in! You’ll need to catch a fish
successfully if you want to complete all of the recipes in the game. To
raise the fishing pole to level 2 you’ll need to catch fish until
you’ve managed to collect 50 skill points. For the third and final
level you’ll need to fish until you’ve collected enough skill points,
150 as a matter of fact!
***************************
Animal Brush
***************************
You don’t need to buy this tool as you acquire it as soon as you buy
your first animal. It isn’t an actual item, so don’t go looking for it
in your bag or item box. You will use it automatically anytime you
choose to brush your animals by pressing the triangle button next to
them.
***************************
Earth Power Sand
***************************
This tool becomes available for purchase at Million’s Supermarket after
the accident in the cave during the summer though you can obtain 2
pieces of it from earlier caves for free. Earth Power Sand can be used
to spread on top of barren soil (soil that looks like it might have
tiny stones imbedded in it) that can be found on your farm and in the
Spring Festival’s cave. Unlike the majority of soil found on your farm,
barren soil can’t be till with your hoe making it impossible to plant
seeds in it. Once sprinkled on barren ground, the soil turns into
normal soil that you can use to till with your hoe. One piece of Earth
Power Sand can be used to spread on 9 squares of barren land similarly
to strange moss. Earth Power Sand goes for 2000g.
OoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoO
oOoOoO Crops oOoOoO
OoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoO
What is a Harvest Moon game without crops? This section of the guide
will discuss the basics of farming, all the different types of crops as
well as flowers, wild fruit and mushrooms!
When you first begin the game Gayak will show you on a virtual farm how
to begin farming. Listen to what he has to say and follow the
instructions he gives you. Once you successfully complete his tutorial,
you’ll be brought to you farm where the real adventure begins. Well,
sort of...When you first arrive at your farm you must prove to Franco
that you can indeed grow crops. You’ll have 6 days to grow and ship you
first harvest, turnips! Once you’ve done that, NOW you can start
planting what you want, where you want and how much of what you want!
Exciting isn’t it?
Since you’ve had a whole week to get used to farming I won’t go over
how to do it (since you already know) but I will point out several
useful farming tips.
While on your farm you might be wondering what the blue shipping pod is
for. The blue shipping pod is directly next to your green shipping pod
and is used to ship any ore, stones or building material such as wood
or rock from your farm. When you want to ship something in this pod,
walk up to it and press the triangle button to deposit your goods into
the pod for shipment.
Ever wonder where your seeds went after you bought them from the store?
Well in this game seeds are kept separately from you other items in a
special contain on the storage portion of your farm. Simply take the
elevator to the storage level and then walk to the right of said
elevator and slightly up screen to find this contain. Remember, you can
only take out the seeds if you have a seed sack already in your bag!
Each seed bag can hold up to 100 seeds of any type of crop. But also
remember; only one type of seed can occupy a seed bag at one time.
Can’t have those corn seeds mixing with the tomatoes now can we?
Harvesting a large amount and tried of individually taking one crop at
a time to the shipping pod? Problem solved! Simply pick up your crop
and press the O button to store it in your bag. Continue picking you
crops until your bag is full then walk over to the green shipping pod
and press the triangle button. You’ll be presented with a screen that
will show you all the crops in your bag and the amount each crop costs.
Select YES when asked to ship all your crops from your bag and Viola,
easy shipping!
Tired of all those weeds cluttering up your field? Don’t simply throw
them in your watering hole (though you can there’s nothing wrong with
doing so) sickle them! The sickle is one of the slowest tools to raise
in the game and those weeds are an easy way to level said tool.
Want to prevent storms from occurring during the summer, autumn and
winter months? I know it’s hard but I’m asking you to NOT completely
cover any field entirely with crops. I’ve found that leaving about 15-
10 percent of any field crop free (yes that includes flowers and herbs
as well) that you can completely avoid storms! Remember, that’s any
field you plan on having crops in leave about 15-10 percent unplanted
and you’ll avoid storms. Play it safe and don’t over plant.
Unfortunately, no matter what you do you will always have 2 storms per
season. This is unavoidable and part of the game play. Leaving 10-15
percent of your fields bare will guarantee that you don’t have any
additional storms.
One last thing regarding crops, certain recipes can only be unlocked
after you’ve shipped a certain crop. Try to ship as many different
crops as possible to fill out your list!

Not exactly a new feature to Harvest Moons fans is the ability to grow
different flowers and herbs on your farm. What is different in Innocent
Life is the variety of the flowers and herbs! There are many more
varieties of flowers you can grow and the herbs now have names such as
lavender and rosemary (unlike in magical melody where the herbs were
literally called “purple herb” and “green herb.”) Let’s take a look
shall we?

C. Wild Fruit
***************************
Gathering wild plants should come second nature to true Harvest Moon
alumni but there have been a few changes to how you go about doing so
in this game. Because of such advanced technology, people don’t go
harvesting wild plants anymore and if you do decide to do so you need a
special pack to store your wild produce. This device is known as a
scale pack and can be purchased from Million’s store for 1980g. You
cannot pick up any wild fruit or mushrooms without first owning one and
keeping it in your bag when you go harvesting.
Just like in real life, different fruits appear during different
seasons and newly added, different times during the season. Below is a
list of which fruits are available during which seasons and when
they’ll start bearing ripened fruit for you to pick!

oOoOoO Mining & Jewels oOoOoO
OoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoO
Mining works a little bit different from previous Harvest Moon games.
Firstly, you don’t need to bring your hoe for any mining that you do so
leave it on the farm. Secondly, you’ll definitely need to bring your
hammer since that’s the tool that’s used exclusively for mining
anything. Mining can only be done in caves and in the Easter ruins, you
can also “mine” small rocks that appear on your farm occasionally. Any
ore that you find in the caves is used solely for selling as tools
level up a bit differently in this game.
Mining is very simple; all you need to do is stand facing a small rock
and use your hammer on it. Sometimes when you break a rock nothing will
happen, but other times a stone will appear upon the smashing. Stones
can vary in size and effect, but regardless they all are very useful!
Smaller stones will give you a smaller effect then a larger stone will.
***************************
A. Stones and their Uses
***************************
There are two ways you can use the stones that you find in the caves.
The first way is to simply use them immediately after picking it up.
The game will ask you if you want to use the power of the stone now.
You can either say yes or no. If you say yes, the power of the stone
will be released and you will gain an effect as long as you stay in the
cave. If you say no the game will then ask you if you want to put the
stone in your bag. You can either say yes or no to this choice as well.
Saying no will result in you throwing the stone away making it unable
to be used. However, if you say yes the stone will go into your bag for
you to use at a later date or to sell after leaving the cave.
Be warned though that upon leaving the cave, all stones (excluding
jewels) that are in your bag will turn into plain ore and will be sold
at that price. There is no listing for crimson, azure, ochre stones
etc... in your items shipped list so don’t worry about this happening.
The other object that you could find while smashing rocks in the caves
is ore. There are only a few types of ore and they will always go
immediately into your bag. These ores are purely for selling purposes.
***************************
B. Setting Stones
***************************
If you do decide to put the stone into your bag you’ll have the option
to “set” the stone into a slot on one of your tools. You can only set
the stones into tools that you’re currently carrying with you. You
cannot bring the stones home with you because, remember, any stones
that you’re carrying with you turn into plain ore upon exiting the
cave.
To set a stone, select the stone first and then press triangle to “set”
it into a tool. You’ll then be prompted to select which tool you would
like the have the stone set in. You can scroll through your list of
tools using the analog stick or the directional pad on your controller.
Once you’ve selected the tool pres triangle once again and you’re done!
Once the stone has been set in the tool, you’ll notice that there is a
number next to the stones bar indicating how many uses the stone’s
effect will have. Small stones have a use of 25 while larger stones
have a use of 50. Each time you use your tool with a stone attached to
it the countdown will begin on how many more uses the stones power will
affect the tool.
Additionally, you can only set the size of the stone into an
appropriately leveled tool. Also, you can set multiple stones in the
same tool of appropriate level. For example, you can only set a small
sized stone into a level 1 tool while on the other hand if you have a
level 3 tool, you can set both and small and large stone plus a jewel
if you wanted! You can even set multiple different colored stones into
the same tool. Try different things and you’ll receive different
results!
Setting yellow stones into your tool allows your tools to gain extra SP
or skill points when that tool is used. Or in other words, having a
yellow stone set in your tool allows you to gain tool levels faster
then not having one set! You’ll definitely want to set yellow stones
into your tools as often as possible to gain max levels!
Setting red stones may cause you to retain you PP when using a tool. In
other words, if you use a tool with a red stone in it, sometimes you’ll
be able to use the tool without wasting PP.
Setting a blue stone to your tools causes the ground where you just
used that tool to be watered as well.
***************************
C. The Wonder of Jewels
***************************
Jewels on the other hand only come from the various treasure chests
scattered throughout the caves. The treasure chests are large and blue
in color so you can’t miss them. Jewels in this game are crucial to
progressing in the story line and unlocking more caves to explore as
well as unlocking more plots of land on your farm! Always open a
treasure chest because you’ll never know what you’ll find.
Aside from their power to unlock new fields for your farm you can also
“set” these jewels into your tools. This process is exactly the same as
setting a stone into your tools (see above) with one big draw back.
Just like setting a stone into your tool, there is a certain amount of
uses before the extra added effect will expire. For jewels, there is a
99 use count down and after all the uses have been spent, you’re jewel
is gone forever. I do not recommend using your jewels to set in your
tools but I put the option in here for completions sake.
**************************************
D. List of Stones, Ores & Jewels
**************************************
Ochre Stone - A piece of glowing yellow stone. Use it when you find it
and your tool’s SP will increase in rare cases. Leave the cave without
setting it in a socket and it will turn into Plain Ore.
Sell Price = 10g
Crimson Stone - A piece of red glowing stone. Use it when you find it
and your PP will be refilled by ¼. Leave the cave without setting it in
a socket and it will turn into Plain Ore.
Sell Price = 10g
Azure Stone - A piece of glowing blue stone. Use it when you find it
and you will be able to pick up pieces on that level without using PP.
Leave without setting it in a socket and it will turn into Plain Ore.
Sell Price = 10g
Plain Ore - You can’t tell where it comes from, but it appears to be a
kind of ore. Ship it using the blue Shipping Pod. This is the cheapest
type of ore found in all caves.
Sell Price = 10g
Volcano Ore - A reddish Ore sometimes found in volcanic regions. Ship
it using the blue Shipping Pod. First discovered upon unlocking the
very first mine with the Grain family key.
Sell Price = 40g
Easter Ore - A very light and hard variety of ore sometimes found in
the Easter Ruins. Ship it using the blue Shipping Pod. First discovered
in the cave next to the hot springs after the bridge is completed in
Summer.
Sell price = 30g
Yellow Jewel - A brilliant shining crystal. Fields surrounded by the
power of this jewel will mature faster and retain water for one extra
day. You can take it outside the cave without setting it in a socket.
Blue Jewel - A brilliant shining crystal. Fields surrounded by the
power of this jewel will retain water for 6 extra days. You can take it
outside the cave without setting it in a socket.
Red Jewel - A brilliant shining crystal. Fields surrounded by the power
of this jewel will mature faster, but will also dry up more quickly.
You can take it outside the cave without setting it in a socket.
Purple Jewel - A brilliant shining jewel filled with spirit power.
Fields surrounded by the power of the jewel will mature faster and
retain water for 4 extra days. Crops will also sell for higher than
usual.
Orange Jewel - A mysterious shining jewel filled with spirit power.
Fields surrounded by the power of this jewel will mature faster very
quickly. However, water retention is the same as usual, so don’t forget
to water.
Green Jewel - A mysterious shining jewel filled with spirit power.
Fields surrounded by the power of the jewel will mature faster and
retain water for 6 extra days. Crops will also sell for more than
usual.

oOoOoO Cooking & Recipes oOoOoO
OoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoO
A long time past time of the Harvest Moon genre has been collecting
recipes and cooking them in your kitchen. Though in the past, you had
to first make sure you had all the proper ingredients either in your
fridge or in your rucksack before being able to successfully create a
dish. Not anymore! In this game your fridge is a never ending abyss of
fully stocked ingredients so you are never lacking components to make
those yummy dishes! There are still some recipes that require some
effort on your part to gather ingredients for but once you do...you’ll
never have to gather that produce ever again if you so choose.
The only requirement on your part is to first learn the skills needed
to cook said dishes. You can learn how to make new dishes by simply
watching the “Cooking Life” show on your TV every week (there are 10
episodes in all) and volia, you magically know how to cook! ^_^ Of
course, you won’t make the dish perfectly at first but after a few
attempts you’ll be cooking like the pros.
Below I’ve listed all the recipes you can learn to make from the
cooking show, any requirements you need before making the dish as well
as which cooking skill these recipes use. So let’s get in that kitchen,
strap on your “kiss the cook” apron and start cooking!
Note: If I have not mentioned any requirements underneath a certain
recipe, then you can make this recipe as soon as you acquire the skill!
the majority of recipes will be this way but may take a few times show
up during the actual cooking process. Don’t get discouraged and keep
cooking until you receive it!

oOoOoO Farm Animals oOoOoO
OoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoO
What would a farm be without animals?! Well I’m glad you asked that
question because in this section I’m going to tell you everything I
know about farm animals. First and foremost, you cannot keep any
animals on your farm before you have obtained and placed the 4 blue
jewels on the altars at your farm. Once you’ve meet this requirement
you may now begin purchasing animals!
***Chickens***
If you want to buy a chicken you must first obtain a cluck-o-matic. To
find one of these items, speak with Jonathon at the ranch. He can
usually be found in the barn, is wearing a pink shirt and has an afro.
He is proud that you broke the seal on the farm and sends you a cluck-
o-matic the very next day after you speak with him! This machine will
appear in the chicken area of your storage area.
To place an order for a chicken, watch the world ranch channel on your
TV and select the Buy livestock option. Chickens cost 500g and will
appear in your chicken area of the ruins the next day.
After receiving the cluck-o-matic you can now start purchasing
chickens. You only need to ever buy one chicken since you can incubate
that chickens eggs to hatch your own baby chicks! Simply pick up an egg
off of the conveyer belt and place it in the round incubator that’s
next to the hay on the floor. It takes 3 days for your egg to hatch and
become a chick. You must name you chick before it hatches in the same
manner you did when you first bought your chicken.
Unlike other Harvest Moons to date, you cannot name your own animals
which I thought was a bit of a bummer. There’s a list of pre-picked
names for you to choose from. If you aren’t fond of a certain name
select it anyways but choose the “NO” response to the “do you like this
name” question to bring up a new set of names. You can continue in this
fashion scrolling through the different names until you find one that
you like. The animal you just bought will arrive at your farm the very
next day.
Chickens do not need to be fed or given water to but to help increase
their happiness make sure to brush them everyday. To brush you animals
stand next to the animal you want to brush and press the triangle
button. A heart will appear above the animal you brushed causing their
affection for you to rise. Animals with a higher affection will produce
higher priced goods and sell for a higher price.
You don’t need to worry about shipping your eggs as they will be
automatically shipped everyday for you. The only time you should worry
about shipping something would be if you wanted to make mayonnaise in
which case you need to manually pick up and egg, face the mayonnaise
maker (which is directly next to your conveyer belt on the left) and
throw in egg in. A bottle of mayo will come popping back out! Don’t
forget that you will still need to throw the mayo into the shipping pod
yourself as this does not get automatically shipped.
***Sheep***
If you want to buy a sheep you must first obtain a cluck-o-matic and
own a chicken. Then you must obtain a Baa-o-matic from Jonathon once
again who is usually be found in the barn and is wearing a pink shirt.
This machine will appear in the sheep area of your storage area.
To place an order for a sheep, watch the world ranch channel on your TV
and select the Buy livestock option. Sheep cost 1500g and will appear
in your sheep area of the ruins the next day.
You can continue in this
fashion scrolling through the different names until you find one that
you like. The animal you just bought will arrive at your farm the very
next day.
Sheep do not need to be fed or given water to but to help increase
their happiness make sure to brush them everyday. To brush you animals
stand next to the animal you want to brush and press the triangle
button. A heart will appear above the animal you brushed causing their
affection for you to rise. Animals with a higher affection will produce
higher priced goods and sell for a higher price.
You don’t need to worry about shearing your sheep by hand. Sheep will
be automatically sheared every Friday at 17:30pm. However, your sheep
will need to wait one week after purchase to develop wool to ship
before they can be sheared. You cannot breed sheep on your farm and
must continue to buy more sheep if you want to raise additional
livestock.
***Cows***
If you want to buy a cow you must first obtain a cluck-o-matic and own
a chicken as well as owning a baa-o-matic and owning a sheep. Then you
must obtain a Moo-o-matic from Jonathon once again who is usually be
found in the barn and is wearing a pink shirt. This machine will appear
in the cow area of your storage area.
To place an order for a cow, watch the world ranch channel on your TV
and select the Buy livestock option. Sheep cost 3500g and will appear
in your cow area of the ruins the next day. There are two different
types of cows you can choose from: Holsteins or Jersey. Holsteins are
black & white cows while the Jersey cows are brown colored. Regardless
of type, all the cows you purchase are female.
You can continue in this
fashion scrolling through the different names until you find one that
you like. The animal you just bought will arrive at your farm the very

next to the animal you want to brush and press the triangle button. A
heart will appear above the animal you brushed causing their affection
for you to rise. Animals with a higher affection will produce higher
priced goods and sell for a higher price.
You don’t need to worry about shipping the milk that your cattle
produce yourself as they will be automatically shipped everyday for
you. The only time you should worry about shipping something would be
if you wanted to make cheese in which case you need to manually pick up
some milk, face the cheese maker (which is directly next to your
conveyer belt on the right side) and throw in the milk. A slab of
cheese will come popping back out! Don’t forget that you will still
need to throw the cheese into the shipping pod yourself as this does
not get automatically shipped.
***Horses***
You can’t own a horse in this game but you can still ride them however!
Once you have obtained a cluck-o-matic, Baa-o-matic and Moo-o-matic
speak with Jonathon again until he mentions the wild horses. He thinks
he remembers something about the fisherman knowing how to blow a
certain tune by whistling that will allow you to jump on a wild horses
back and ride it!
If you speak to the fisherman he will ask you if you want to learn how
to whistle, say YES to learn! After learning the special tune, approach
a wild horse that is running on the plains (only the large brown ones
work as the small grey one can’t support your weight) and press the
triangle button. You will then jump on the horses back and ride around
in a circle. Time does not elapse while riding the horse. You however
cannot control the direction of the horse and you can only ride in a
circle...its kinda lame actually but when you think about it, you do
have a ridiculously amazing buggy that runs pretty darn fast!

oOoOoO Liberta’s Dictionary oOoOoO
OoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoO
This dictionary is given to you the first time you speak with Liberta,
the owner of the winery, at the town hall. This dictionary serves no
actual purpose in the game other then to give you another goal to work
towards.
When you first inspect the dictionary, you’ll notice that all but a few
words are missing. By completing certain objectives, you’ll be able to
unlock more words thus filling the dictionary. After you’ve completed
these objectives, make sure to speak with Liberta once again at the
town hall, and he’ll update your dictionary.
Note: You do not need to carry around the dictionary with you when you
complete the objectives but you do need to have it when you speak with
Liberta when he updates it!
Objective 1 - Default - You’ll begin with these words already in your
dictionary:
Adventure
Black truffle
Art
Bride
Banana
Cabbage
Chicken
Cake

*Melon
*Tomato
*Corn
*Squash
*Onion
*Green Pea
*Lemon
Key
Lazy
Lifework
Map
Mist
Night
Olive
Pandora’s Box
Pillow
Pocket
Objective 4 - Inspect the pedestals of all 6 of Moonlights Artwork
scattered around the island
*Rainbow serpent - located directly south of the ruins. If you’ve
entered south heartflame cave you’ve gone too far. Look for the multi
colored railing along the top end of your screen. The pedestal is in
front of the red portion.
*Here and There - located just past the south heartflame cave on
the town exit. Immediately after exiting the cave, you’ll be on an
earthen road lined with trees. Walk along the lower half of the road
right up against the trees while moving towards the paved road. You
should slip into a small grassy area, when you do continue directly
south; the pedestal is right in front of you. (Sometimes the doctor’s
cat likes to hang out here, try moving past her to go south if she’s in
your way.)
*Whispering Trees - located past the swinging bridge next to a
bunch of trees that have telephones attached to them. After crossing
the bridge, and entering the next area, walk directly east (or stick to
the right hand side of your screen) and you should eventually come to
an area where trees have phones on them. The pedestal is in the center
of this tree grove.
*Southern Constellation - located in East Lake. Continue from the
whispering trees pedestal (see above reference) to the right. There
will be two paths, one leading to the mushroom forest and the other
leading down a hill. Take this second path and you’ll be in East Lake.
The pedestal is directly north of you.
*Desert Moon - located in the Heartflame Dunes. Take the raft or
buggy and head into the cave that’s next to the hot springs. Once in
the cave continue to the east (or right hand side of the screen) and
into the next area. Continue east here and make sure to go through the
yellow door (must have broken the seal first!) and enter the desert.
You must also have the blue seal broken to get past the sandstorm. Once
outside the cave, head south into the Heartflame dunes. Once here, (you
should see the fisherman’s tent to your right) continue directly south
and you should see a large moon in the sand. The pedestal is directly
south of the moon.
*Waltz - located in the Heartflame Plains. Take the raft or buggy
and head into the cave that’s next to the hot springs. Once in the cave
continue to the east (or right hand side of the screen) and into the
next area. Continue east here and make sure to go through the yellow
door (must have broken the seal first!) and enter the desert. You must
also have the blue seal broken to get past the sandstorm. Once outside
the cave, head northeast until you pass into a new area, North
Heartflame Plains. There are two paths here, one to the North and one
to the East; you’ll want to head east into the plains. Once in the
plains, you should see several horses running around an open meadow,
the pedestal is directly north of where the horses are running.

Melancholy Woods - Part 1
Back then, I was still a human being.
I lived happily with my mother,
father, sister and brother.
My father was a kind man who was
highly regarded amongst everyone.
And my mother was always smiling.
She had a smile that could light up
a room like a ray of sunshine.
My older brother and sister loved
me and would always play with me.
We would fight sometimes, but we
always made up before bedtime.
Our house was filled with laughter.
That’s the last thing I remember
of the time when I was still happy.
.................To be Continued.
Melancholy Woods - Part 2
Suddenly our luck changed.
I was still young at the time and
there was no one who would explain
exactly what was going on.
But I could tell that the atmosphere
at our house had changed. I still
remember that.
My father rarely came home.
And my mother stopped smiling.
My brother and sister always hoped
that they would see my mother or
father smile, but they never did.
We lived in this tense atmosphere
for some time, until...
.................To be Continued.
Melancholy Woods – Part 8
We didn’t have any close relatives,
so there was talk of putting us into
some kind of orphanage.
But my brother and sister made it
clear that they were going to work
hard to support us.
I was terrified of losing anything
else in my life.
So I couldn’t stand to be away from
my brother and sister even for a
short time.
They didn’t really have time to be
dealing with me, but…
They understood how I felt and did
their best to make me feel better.
They became like a father and mother
to me.
I was just starting to adjust to this
new life of ours when…
.................To be Continued.
Melancholy Woods - Part 9
It was Christmas.
It had snowed the previous night,
making it a lovely white Christmas.
My brother and sister and I had
gone out.
My brother was holding my right
hand and my sister was holding my
left.
The town was decorated with festive
lights and everyone in the streets
seemed somehow cheerful.
Encouraged by this atmosphere, I
started to feel the spirit of the
season.
My brother and sister were obviously
happy at this change in me.
I swore that I would do something to
repay my brother and sister for all
the kindness that they had shown me.
I made myself a promise.
I was going to be strong and help them
as they had helped me.
.................To be Continued.
Melancholy Woods - Part 10
We were just coming home from our
meager Christmas celebration when
it happened.
The three of us were walking in the
falling snow.
I felt like there wasn’t anything the
three of us couldn’t do if we put our
minds to it.
But of course that was just an illusion.
Before I knew what had happened,
I was alone.
It was as if all of the sounds in the
world had been snuffed out, leaving
me in silence.
Somehow, I had let go of their hands.
And when I turned around to look
for them, I saw the one thing that I
never wanted to see.
.................To be Continued.
Melancholy Woods - Part 11
Had I gotten ahead of my brother and
sister? Or had they gotten ahead of me?
I can’t remember much about that
night...
But I do know that I was only saved
by the slimmest of chances.
A car skid on the ice and
ran up onto the sidewalk, hitting
my brother and sister.
The snow stopped falling.
I stayed with them and did
everything I could to keep from
losing them, but it was all in vain.
I couldn’t save them.
From that moment on, it was like
something in my brain just shut
down.
.................To be Continued.

Dorothy’s Cooking Life - Part 1
Dorothy: Hello. Dorothy Gremley here.
Dorothy: One Cooking Life, I explain the
basics of cooking in a way that even
beginners can easily understand.
Dorothy: I’m sure many of you rarely do
anything in the kitchen. Perhaps some
of you have never cooked before.
Dorothy: But I want you to realize that
cooking is not difficult.
Dorothy: Why don’t you start by getting
in the kitchen and boiling some water?
That doesn’t sound too hard, does it?
Dorothy: You can use that water to make
a relaxing cup of tea...
Dorothy: And you’ll be learning about
the wonderful world of cooking at the
same time.
Dorothy: When the program is over, why
not go right into your kitchen and try
out some of the dishes I talked about?
Dorothy: You might just find that you
enjoy cooking. It could make your life
even more enjoyable.
Dorothy: In the upcoming weeks, we will
be introducing 4 main kinds of cooking:
cutting, boiling, grilling and baking.
Dorothy: We will be learning something
new each week, so I hope you’ll look
forward to out time together.
Dorothy: Our time for the today is up, but
I hope you’ll try making yourself a cup
of tea today. Try it! You’ll like it!
Dorothy: See you next week!
Enjoy your cooking life!
Dorothy’s Cooking Life - Part 2
Dorothy: Hello. Dorothy Gremley here.
Dorothy: This week on Cooking Life,
we’re going to talk about dishes that
require cutting.
Dorothy: It doesn’t matter what kind
of knife you use, as long as it’s sharp
enough to cut the food. Just have fun.
Dorothy: They say that it’s important
to bend your fingers under when cutting
so as not to cut yourself, but...
Dorothy: Don’t worry too much about
that right now. It’s best to do whatever
seems easiest for you.
Dorothy: If you’re not used to cutting
take your time. But if you’re an old
hand at it, you can really go to town.
Dorothy: If you don’t know how big to
cut something, just try cutting it to a
size that feels right to you.
Dorothy: If, when it is time to eat it,
you feel that it was too big or small,
you can do it differently next time.
Dorothy: I also recommend that you try
breaking things up with your hands
sometimes.
Dorothy: You’d be surprised how many
housewives use cooking to release
their stress...In fact...
Dorothy: Oh, I’m sorry...
I got a little off the topic there.
Dorothy: when you’re done cutting up
your ingredients, add some dressing
or mayonnaise and it’s ready to eat!
Dorothy: I recommend that you look in
your refrigerator for something that
you can cut up today.
Dorothy: See you next week!
Enjoy your cooking life!
Dorothy’s Cooking Life - Part 3
Dorothy: Hello. Dorothy Gremley here.
Dorothy: This week on Cooking Life,
we’re going to talk about how to wash
things like vegetables.
Dorothy: I imagine that some of you
tired making a salad after watching
last week’s show.
Dorothy: On this island crops are grown
using safe fertilizers and herbicides
so they’re safe to eat without washing.
Dorothy: But leaving dirt one them can
ruin an otherwise delicious dish.
Dorothy: You might want to use a scrub
brush to wash vegetables that grow in
the ground, like carrots and potatoes.
Dorothy: Things that grow above ground
like tomatoes and cucumbers absorb water
easily, so just give them a quick wash.
Dorothy: When washing leafy vegetables,
be sure to use plenty of water to
remove the first from their roots.
Dorothy: Washing rice is the same as
washing vegetables -- you don’t want to
use any kind of soap or detergent.
Dorothy: When washing rice, be sure
to do it quickly so that that the rice
doesn’t absorb the dirty water.
Dorothy: And don’t forget that cleaning
up is part of cooking.
Dorothy: You won’t feel good about what
you’ve made if your kitchen is a mess
afterwards.
Dorothy: Use the free time you have
while grilling or boiling foods to
clean up the kitchen.
Dorothy: And of course, if you have a
fully automatic dishwater, you just
have to fill it up and start it.
Dorothy: See you next week!
Enjoy your Cooking Life!
Dorothy’s Cooking Life – Part 8
Dorothy: Hello. Dorothy Gremley here.
Dorothy: This week on Cooking Life,
we’re going to talk more about
grilling.
Dorothy: Actually, “roasting” might be
the more appropriate term, since
we’ll be cooking over an open flame.
Dorothy: Cooking with fire is the
oldest form of cooking,
dating back to prehistory.
Dorothy: Have you ever seen a fish on a
skewer being roasted over an open
fire?
Dorothy: This is actually one of the
tastiest ways to east fish.
Dorothy: And of course, doing the same
thing to meat is called “barbecuing”
and is also very popular.
Dorothy: However, because it creates a
lot of smoke, it’s probably best done
outside.
Dorothy: If you ever have a chance to
go camping, I recommend that you try
barbequing.
Dorothy: Of course, if you have a
kitchen with a smoke ventilation system,
you can barbecue anytime you like.
Dorothy: See you next week!
Enjoy your cooking life!
Dorothy’s Cooking Life - Part 9
Dorothy: Hello, Dorothy Gremley here.
Dorothy: This week on Cooking Life,
we’re going to talk about baking.
Dorothy: Even people who cook often
will sometimes say that they don’t bake
much.
Dorothy: But if you use your oven well,
you’ll find that a new world of cakes,
cookies, and breads opens up to you.
Dorothy: And it’s really not hard
to do.
Dorothy: You just have to prepare the
ingredients, put them in the oven,
and wait!
Dorothy: Of course, this means that the
preparation stage is very important,
as is the temperature of your oven.
Dorothy: Still, if you’ve been watching
Cooking Life all this time, it should be
easy for you.
Dorothy: Your oven will adjust its
temperature itself, so you just have
to put in the food at the proper time.
Dorothy: Why not try baking a meat or
fish dish, along with some vegetables to
go on the side?
Dorothy: See you next week!
Enjoy your Cooking Life!
Dorothy’s Cooking Life - Part 10
Dorothy: Hello. Dorothy Gremley here.
Dorothy: This is the last episode of
Cooking Life so I’d like to try
baking a special cake.
Dorothy: Since you can leave the
temperature to your oven, we’re going
to concentrate on making your cake rise.
Dorothy: A cake rises when the air
bubbles in the batter expand int eh heat
of the oven.
Dorothy: You want to mix the batter so
not to pop all of these bubbles,
but that’s easier said than done.
Dorothy: It took me quite a while
before my cakes would rise properly.
Dorothy: If you don’t enjoy that kind
of experience, don’t be ashamed to
buy a pre-made cake from the store.
Dorothy: Once the cake is done, it’s
time to decorate it.
Dorothy: You can use frosting, seasonal
fruits, or whipped cream to add some
flair to your creation.
Dorothy: Or you might even try using
nuts or herbs for a distinctive touch.
Dorothy: Thank you all for watching
Cooking Life all this time.
Dorothy: I hope you will keep up with
your cooking from now on. Just try it
whenever you have some free time.
Dorothy: If you do, I’m sure that
you’ll find that cooking has added
something new and fun to your life.
Dorothy: Goodbye everyone!
Enjoy your Cooking Life!
Tune in next week for a rebroadcast
of “Cooking Life with Dorothy
Gremley.”

My Mommy is gone...
Where did she go?
Don’t ask me-ow.

But I’m sure she must be close by.
I have to go and find her!
Kitten: Mommy, is that you?
Smash!
Crash! Bam!

Kitten [Flashback}: Mommy...Mommy...
I love you, Mommy...
Yawn...
Ah!
I almost fell asleep again!
But today I’m really going to go out
and look for my Mommy.
Leaving the house is the first step,
if you really think about it...
But I’m a little scared...
No! I can do it!
I have to show Mommy that I’m
a brave little kitten!
Taking the first step is the most
important thing!
There!
I did it! I took the first step!
Well, I guess that’s enough for
one day.
I think I’ll go take a nap.
.................To be Continued.

Snore….
Zzzz….
Wha--?! Oops!
I fell asleep while I was thinking.
Let’s see here…Oh yes, I was trying
to think of a way to pick this turnip.
I’ve got it!
I’ll try digging around it!
Dig dig dig dig dig dig…
Looking good.
Just a little more and I should be
able to pull it up…
Dig dig dig dig dig dig.
Dig dig dig dig dig dig dig dig….
Smush...
Meow!
Now I’ve done it.
The turnip’s fallen on top of me!
Struggle struggle struggle…
I can’t move…
I’m too young to die!
Curse you, foul turnip!
Goodbye, cruel world!
.................To be Continued.
“Where’s My Mommy? A Kitten’s Journey” - Part 9
I’m currently trapped under a turnip.
My vision is starting to blur, but I can
see a flower patch in the distance.
My Mommy is waving at me!
My real Mommy is waving--
POP!
Scary Cat: What are you doing?
You want to get yourself killed?
Ugh, you’re useless!
I’m saved.
But I was so close to meeting my
real Mommy!
Maybe if I close my eyes, I can
see my real Mommy again...
Scary Cat: This is no time for sleeping!
Get up you lazy good-for-nothing!
Push push!
Ow...How am I supposed to dream
about my Mommy with you pushing me
like that?
Kitten: Gasp!
I just thought of something horrible...
Something to horrible for words...
Could it be that my new mommy
is actually...actually...
.................To be Continued.
“Where’s My Mommy? A Kitten’s Journey” - Part 10
I have just discovered my new
Mommy’s secret.
Or was it just my imagination?
Gasp!
N-No, it’s definitely not my
imagination.
Scary Mommy: What are you looking at me
like that for?
Kitten: Um... Um...
Kitten: Are you just using me to do your
work?
Kitten: Y-you’re not acting the way a
Mommy should?
Fake Mommy: No! It’s just that I’m a...
I have bad paws and a core back!
Kitten: B-but I thought mommies were
supposed to be loving!
I’m getting out of here!
Fake Mommy: You can’t get away from me!
Not when I finally found a little
kitten to work for me!
Oh no....
My new scary Mommy is coming
closer and closer...
.................To be Continued.
“Where’s My Mommy? A Kitten’s Journey” - Part 11
I discovered that my scary new
Mommy was actually using me
to do all of her work!
Fake Mommy: Everyone makes fun of me
for the way I am, but it’s not my
fault I have sensitive paws!
Fake Mommy: What’s so wrong about
getting somebody to help out? Tell me that!
Sniff...
..........................
I’m starting to feel a little sorry
for her now.
I thought she was scary, but she’s
just had a lot of difficult experiences
in her life...
I’m sure growing up wasn’t easy
for her.
But what am I going to do now?
I’m just a little kitten and I don’t
have my Mommy...
I’m s-starting to feel very sad....
Waaaah!
Fake Mommy: Hey...
Are you crying for me?

Fake Mommy: I wasn’t always a mean cat.
I used to be a loving and loyal cat.
Fake Mommy: I had a friend who
understood me.
Fake Mommy: He used to say that I was
much better than any of the female cats
he had met.
Fake Mommy: But then why did he have to
run away with that other cat?
Fake Mommy: It’s not like sensitive paws
and a little balding is a bad thing!
Fake Mommy: Oh, I hate them all!
I’ll never forgive you, Bruce!
Never!!
............................
Right, whatever. I’m getting a
little tired of this whole thing.
I’m getting sleepy...
The sun is so nice and warm...
Yawn...

Kitten: S-sure I am!

Final Z Rangers
***********************
Final Z Rangers - Part 1
Our story begins in a certain city on a
certain planet...
Pink: Ugh...I’m sooooo bored!
I wish something big would happen.
Like a major catastrophe...
Green: I’ll have to admit that there’s
been a marked reduction in alien
invasions in the last 10 months.
Red: Well what’s wrong with that?
Don’t we want things to be
peaceful?
Red: By the way, boss. When are we going
to get replacements for Blue and
Yellow?
Boss: About that...
Budget buts prevent us from
hiring replacements.
Red: What? But we’ll look
terrible with just red, green and pink!
Boss: True...
I suppose you could change your
colors to red, blue and yellow...
Pink: No way! I’ve been Pink for
way too long to change now. Even
my underwear is pink!
Boss: I see. Um, in any case,
you’re just going to have to deal with
the current situation as best you can.
Pink: Roger!
Beep beep beep beep!
Green: It’s the Z Alarm!
.................To be Continued.
Final Z Rangers - Part 2
The Z Alarm rang out across the meeting
room of the Final Z Rangers [Eastern Chapter]!
Boss: It looks as though something
resembling an alien has appeared in
sector R386.
Boss: Positions, everyone!
Red & Green & Pink: Roger!
Boss: Wait a minute! I forgot to mention
it, but Red and Pink’s machines are
in the shop at the moment...
Boss: So you’ll all have to take Green’s
machine.
Red & Green & Pink: Yes sir!
Pink: Hmm...I didn’t know that Red’s
and my machines were in the shop.
Green: Well...I think that’s just an
excuse.
Green: The boss probably just wants to
save on gas.
Pink: What? Are we that bad off?
Green: It looks like it. Even that old
cleaning lady who we used to have
tea with has been laid off.
Pink: How horrible!
Red: Don’t worry about it! If we do our
best, we’re sure to have our budget
increased!
Pink: S-sure! You’re right.
Green: Here we are. Sector
R386.
.................To be Continued.
Final Z Rangers - Part 3
The Final Z Rangers rushed to the
location of the alien sighting.
Green: It looks as though the residents
of the area have already been evacuates.
Is that the alien I see over there?
Pink: It looks like a small child.
And it’s so dirty, the poor thing.
Red: How do you suppose it got here? I
didn’t see its parents anywhere.
Maybe we should take it with us!
Green: All right, let’s go.
Green: Are you oaky?
Where are your mommy and daddy?
Alien: ....................
Red: No response. Hey what’s
that odd bracelet its wearing?
Maybe it’s a clue of some kind...
Pink: Eeeeek!
Green: What’s wrong?
Pink: That child -- I felt it touch my
hair!
Red: Oh come on. You’re way too far
away for it to have touched you.
Pink: Was it just my imagination ?
Hmm....
Green: Anyway, let’s bring it back to
headquarters.
.................To be Continued.
Final Z Rangers – Part 8
Pink: So that bracelet changed
Jees into the alien child we saw before?
Pink: Oh...My...Gosh!
Red: What’s the problem?
Pink: You mean you are not a child?
Red: Big deal! Alien child...alien man.
Pink: That’s not the point!
Hey, what are you guys doing
in my shower room, anyway?
Green: But we got your emergency signal
and--
Pink: A likely story!
Jees: Please! Everyone!
Do not fight. This was all my fault.
Jees: If it wasn’t for me, none of this
would have happened! Please forgive
a foolish old alien!
Jees: Pink, there is no need for you to
respond to my proposal. Please accept
my apology! Farewell!
Pink: Wait!
Red: He’s gone.
Green: And we still don’t know anything
about what was going on!
.................To be Continued.
Final Z Rangers - Part 9
Boss: We contacted the Gorgeous Nebula,
and according to them, princes #9,
#13, #24, #27, #36, #42...
Boss: #62, #72 and #134 have all
been reported missing recently.
Red: Whoa! How many princes do they
have, anyway?
Boss: There is no public record of that,
but the Gorgeousians have very long
lifespans and many children.
Green: So what do those missing princes
have to do with what happened here?
Boss: We’re still working on that but
the Goreous Nebula is very rich
and big in the known universe.
Boss: By nature, its inhabitants
know nothing of dishonestly or criminal
behavior.
Boss: There’s probably no easier target
for kidnapping.
Boss: The Gorgeous Nebula has
given us a rather generous grant to
help in our investigation.
Boss: And we’ve been able to use some
of that money to hire a new member.
Boss: Allow me to introduce Blue.
He has a power that we desperately
need right now.
Red: Ooh! We finally get a replacement
for Blue!
Pink:Oh! He’s so handsome!
Green: Hmph!
.................To be Continued.
Final Z Rangers - Part 10
And so a new member arrived at the
Final Z Ranger [Eastern Chapter].
But what could his secret power be?
Blue: Hello everyone. I took the liberty
of looking around the facility a bit on
my way here...
Blue: I found that 36% of your rooms are
currently unused. Just rearranging some
things would save 37.6% in expenditures.
Blue: And chaning your weapons from
nuclear batteries to more traditional
rechargeable ones would save 34% of...
Boss: Uh, yes. We’ll continue this talk
later on in private, Blue.
Pink: Ugh... Too many numbers...
My head hurts... Is this the power that
we needed so badly?
Green: Boss...
Boss: All right. I can’t hide it
any longer. As you may know, our
chapter is in danger of closing.
Boss: Technically we would be absorbed
by another chapter, but your jobs could
be in danger if that were to happen.
Boss: And so, I’m trying to come up with
a way to keep this chapter going, no
matter what it takes...
Red: Well, it is true that our chapter
is one of the smallest around.
Green: And we live in a particularly
peaceful area without any major problems
for superheroes like us to deal with.
Pink: Yes... I sometimes felt a little
guilty getting paid for this...
Boss: Now now. Don’t get discouraged,
everyone. I’m sure that this incident
will help put us back on the map!
Pink: I hope so, Boss...
.................To be Continued.
Final Z Rangers - Part 11
Beep beep beep beep!
Just as the Final Z Rangers vowed
to help rebuild their chapter, the sound
of the emergency buzzer beeped!
Boss: More aliens have been sighted!
They’re the same childlike aliens
as before. About 10 of them.
Boss: They’re in sector R386 again.
Get moving, people!
Red: 10 of those things in the same
place as before? What do those aliens
have against out city?
Pink: This is out chance to prove
ourselves!
Boss: I’ve heard that the other chapters
may be sending help as well. Now go and
show them what you’re made of!
Red & Green & Pink & Blue: Roger!
Blue: Green’s machine is 11.27% more
fuel efficient than the others, so let’s
take that.
Blue: I’ve also plotted a course that
will allow us to get to the scene using
the least amount of gas possible.
Red: But we’ve got that new grant coming
in! Shouldn’t we just go whatever way
is the fastest?
Blue: I understand what you’re saying,
but I was hired to--
Green: We don’t have time to argue
about it. Come on! Let’s go!
Pink: Ooh, Green. You were so forceful
just then... I kind of liked it.
Green: Cough...
.................To be Continued.
Final Z Rangers - Part 12
Red: Shucks! We’re late!
It’s all Blue fault!
He just won’t shut up!
Vlue: Hmph!
We would’ve arrived faster if you
hasn’t kept arguing with me!
Green: This is our jurisdiction, and
we’re the last ones here. That doesn’t
look very good. Let’s fix this.
Green: Let’s see...What’s going on
here?
Pink: Look! The people from the other
chapters are all going gaga, just like
Pink did!
Green: Yes...
The women and the men, too...
This is terrible.
Blue: But I thought the Gaga Eye Beam
was only supposed to work on women!
Did they power it up somehow?
Red: Heheheh.
This is our chance!
Red: Now we can swoop in and save the
day!
Greem: But we don’t even have a plan!
How are we supposed to fight them?
Red: Well, at least we can’t do any
worse than the guys from the other
chapters!
Green: That makes me feel a lot
better!
.................To be Continued.
