1. Introduction
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ikkitousen: Shining Dragon is the first game of the Ikkitousen anime franchise.
It was released on 2007, only on Japanese territory. There's a talk of a
possible US release, since the anime is licensed on the US and Europe, but no
release date yet.

The style is a mix between a brawler, like Fighting Force (that was a bad
example) and a RPG, with stat-growing and buying moves. It's a pretty simple
game, and quite lacking at that. You control one of the 10 available characters
(6 are initially available), and must stroll through their story modes to
unlock other characters and modes. Perhaps the defining word for this genre is
"fighting game with busty girls", which has quite a few examples.

The anime is known for its pantyshots, fanservice and (some) horrible fights,
but that is not the scope of this FAQ. Just know that there are only girls in
this game, and almost no fanservice, if you came looking for that. Like I said,
it's a pretty simple game.

3. System
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Controls
----------------------------
Left analog - move
Right analog - move camera
R3 - center camera
[] - weak attack
/\ - strong attack
Direction + /\ - directional attacks
X - ground attack (must buy first)
Run + [] - combo starter 1 (must buy first)
Run + /\ - combo starter 2 (must buy first)
R1 - block
O - enter special mode (the blue gauge must be full)
O (while in special mode): special grapple (uses gauge)
L1: restore health (you have to stay still, and it uses gauge)

Gameplay mechanics
----------------------------
1) Combos
Combos are done by mixing weak and strong attacks, following the weak > strong
system. The combos are almost the same for all characters, what changes is
only the number of hits.

2) Special mode
Every character has a blue gauge which activates a special mode, by pressing O
when said gauge is full. During special mode, you don't stagger from taking
hits, although you still take damage, and your attacks are stronger. Note that
if the opponent is also in special mode, you can still make each other stagger.

3) Special grapple
If you press O again while in special mode, your character reaches for the
opponent. If you hit, the game shows a scene of your character's special
attack. The grapple is unblockable, but it uses the rest of the gauge even if
you miss, and you aren't invincible when doing it.

4) Blazing fists
Called ORA ORA ORA! by JoJo fans, this simple system is activated if both
fighters are in special mode and attack each other at the same time. The camera
changes to the side, and whoever presses [] faster wins. The damage can be huge
if there's a big handicap between the fighters, it can be even bigger than that
of a special move.

5) Clothes destruction
If you hit your opponent with a special move, her clothes are destroyed. For
fanservice purposes.

6) Blocking
The character tries to adjust where she is blocking when you hold R1, which is
good when fighting multiple enemies, and it completely nullifies damage. You
can't block attacks directly from behind. Some strong attacks (like Ekitoku's
somersault) can break your defense too.

7) Directional attacks
You do these by entering up, down, right or left + /\. Each one corresponds to
one attack (right/left is the same attack), and most of the times it's a sure
knockdown attack. Up + /\ is almost always a juggle starter, down + /\ is
almost always a sweep, and right/left + /\ is a crowd control attack.
The thing about this is that the direction you press must be the direction the
camera is pointing to. In other words, it's a relative command (direction
changes depending on the camera angle).

Combos
---------------------
Since there aren't a lot of combos, and most are the same for all characters,
I'll list them here:
1) [],[],[],[]... (varies from 4 to 5 hits)
2) [],[],/\,/\
3) /\,/\... (not all characters have these, number of hits vary)
4) Run + [] (this is a combo starter, you can do any combo that starts with []
             after it)
5) Run + /\, /\, /\ (even if the character normally doesn't have a /\ combo,
she can do one with this combo starter)

One noteworthy difference is in Ekitoku. Although the [],[],/\,/\ ends is a
juggle for some characters, Ekitoku is the only one who can actually pull a
juggle combo after it.

Just try: [],[],/\,/\,[],[],[]...

4. Story Mode
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
On each stage you take on a crowd of thugs and then a boss at the end. Before
and after each stage, there's an intermission telling the story.

The intermission after the stage also has a screen where you can buy stats and
moves for a character. For the translation of the stats, look in the
Translation section.

Note 1: Chousen (powered up) doesn't seem any different than the normal
character Chousen. I decided to call her so because her portrait before the
fight is different.

Note 2: The secret characters don't have Story Modes. To level them up, you
must use them on the Cosplay modes.

5. Mission Mode Guide
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
All missions are the same for all characters. You get points after completing
each mission. The higher the difficulty, the higher the prize. But, if you
repeat a mission on a difficulty you already completed, you get a reduced
amount of points.

- Mission 1
Objective: Defeat all enemies.
Difficulty changes the number of enemies.

- Mission 2
Objective: Defeat 10 enemies in the time limit.
Difficulty changes the amount of time left.

- Mission 3
Objective: Defeat all enemies while taking no damage.
Difficulty changes the number of enemies.

- Mission 4
Objective: Defeat a group of bosses (boss rush).
Difficulty changes the number of bosses.

- Mission 5
Objective: Defeat a clone of your character (mirror match).
Difficulty changes the endurance of the enemy.

- Mission 6
Objective: Fight a boss while handicapped.
Difficulty changes the amount of health you start with. Easy is 50%, Normal is
25% and Hard is 0%.

- Mission 7
Objective: Defeat all enemies at the same time.
Difficulty changes the number of enemies. Easy is 2 enemies, Normal is 3, and
Hard is 5.
Tip: Attack the enemies until they can't take another attack, then activate
your special in the middle of their group.

- Mission 8
Objective: Only attacks with special activated count.
Difficulty changes the endurance of the enemy.

- Mission 9
Objective: Don't let the enemy fill her special gauge.
Difficulty changes the endurance and stats of the enemy.
Tip: Don't let the enemy attack you. The special gauge still fills by taking
blows, but not to the point of being full.

- Mission 10
Objective: Fight a random boss that is always in special mode.
Difficulty changes the stats of the enemy.
