Final Fantasy X
Question from DarkVise
Asked on: 2/25 11:16PMIt's really really irritating to try and get Kimahri's Spirit Lance to full power... is there an easy way to accomplish it?
Not really, just keep trying. These maps can help: http://uffsite.net/ff10/butterfly.php

statusIt gets easier if ur able to memorize where the butterflies will show up. Also, dont lean against the map's barriers because u will slow urself down.
I used a map and simply memorized when to switch sides of the path. Personally, I always found this to be one of the easier sigils. This one isn't even close to as irritating as Lulu's.
just keep this in mind:
there is always a path to avoid all th e butterflies, and often times, you have to be at a constant speed, while avoiding every single butterfly to get the chest.
After about 10 tries, I had the whole thing memorized, and the path all set out.
Take your time. it may seem hard at first, but you'll get the hang of it.
Trial and error I'm afraid. After a while you will just know which way to go. The butterflies move slightly depending on when you reach them - if you have a slower run for example then they may have moved slightly, making it harder for you to figure out how to get past the red ones, or to catch the blue ones. Good luck!
Use the linked maps so you can see where the red butterflies are and begin a general plan of attack.
The most important thing to understand is that the red butterflies actually NEVER MOVE. They give you the ILLUSION of moving sure but in actuality you trip off the encounter by touching the wrong sensors on the GROUND and not the butterfly. Thus, it may LOOK like you are going to run into one when in fact because your feet is in the right place you are quite safe. This is the price of playing a 2-D game that also forces you to run at strange angles.
For both butterfly games, there are essentially one spot EACH that will be so-called "sticking points." For example, the first run will be a corner turn with 3 reds before you pick up the last 2 blues. In any case, what I have said previously have important repercussions because since the red butterflies never change position, there is by definitionj a slot for you to move through safely, YOU JUST HAVE TO FIND IT BY TRIAL AND ERROR. Keep trying over and over and each time you get to the sticking spot, modify Tidus' position slightly until you figure out the where to run to bypass it. Using this technique I was able to finish this mini game up in about 30 minutes or so.
By the way, this is VERY different from the Chocobo Catcher game where balloon placement and bird placement are random such that not only do you have to be skillful but also lucky. Also, you need to have an "on" game when the balloons are placed well. In other words you can't "choke" when the balloons are in good position. So overall, the Chocobo Catcher is by far the worst and most frustrating minigame in the game in my opinion.
If you're still confused, you should look up an FAQ on this.
It should be in the Hints and Cheats section.
It'll go into detail on what you want to know.
If you press ctrl + F and put in what you're looking for you'll find it faster.
Hope this helps. :D
