Answer

Mission 15 has several phases punctuated by these events: destroying the jammer aircraft, finding Nagase, and then clearing the path for the rescue helicopter.

To find Nagase, you must use the distress signal indicator that is added to your HUD. This is the only mission where this indicator is shown. The indicator is made up of two dashed lines that are drawn just below the compass heading on your HUD. The indicator is animated by drawing the dashed lines from the left and right of the display toward the middle. To get your aircraft pointed in the right direction, you want those dashed lines to meet in the middle. Once they do, hit the afterburners and hold that direction. You will have to make a few corrections along the way to stay on course - just keep the dashed lines meeting in the middle. Also, maintain a low enough altitude that you can see the trees on the ground but you are safely just above the hill tops.

As you get closer to Nagase, the animation of drawing the dashed lines will go faster and faster. Eventually, you should hear some chatter about the signal changing. An E-767 should spawn. Destroy it quickly without getting led too far away. After the E-767 is destroyed, you should get your distress signal indicator back. You will probably be very near Nagase at this point, and you will probably also have some fighters pursuing you. Evade them with small maneuvers as necessary, remaining focused on finding Nagase.

When you get close to Nagase the indicator can be confusing. This is because you keep "passing" her location. You may wind up circling her. The "Nagase found" condition is triggered by remaining within a small distance of her location for a brief period, probably about one or two seconds. To make this simpler, you want to be going slow and fairly low to the ground when you are near her location. It may take a couple passes. Note that you can not actually see Nagase. She would be way too small to be rendered accurately. When the "found" condition is triggered, you may hear chatter from Nagase saying "Blaze!" and then a new series of targets will spawn in a line to the south east. Two new large blue boxes will also show up on the HUD.

The two large blue boxes will be Nagase's location and the rescue helicopter. You must clear the path for the rescue helicopter. This can be done by destroying exactly eight targets: two helicopters, and six ground units. These targets are all in a line to the south east from Nagase's location. Once you destroy all of them you will be able to complete the mission successfully, but you will have to continue to evade fire from the enemy fighters. Generally, you can lead the fighters away from Nagase and the rescue helicopter, and engage the fighters as you wish.

With more experience and better aircraft it is possible to engage more of the enemy targets along the way and still complete the mission successfully.

There are a couple other things that can cause problems completing missions. There should not be any kind of cheat device attached to the PS2. The PS2 optical drive and the game disc must be in good condition. One final piece of advice, restart/retry should be avoided completely - quit and reload instead.
