Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King

Boomerangs, while they may seem like a good choice early in the game, become pretty useless later on, best bet for Hero is swords/spears. High Spear level yeilds a useful attack, much like Yangus' Executioner, that can crit, but misses 50%, which is very useful for metal slime hunting. Good choices for the rest; just make sure you put 3 points into staves for Jessica (as it gives you accelerate, which is extremely useful)

boomer rangs are great but not really awesome primary weapons u should just distrubute them between spears and rangs then do courage and learn kamikazee for hero
for yangus do scythes and learn big banga itslearnt at a 100 its the most strongest attack ever but its use on metal is cool too well not really
for jessica do swords and sex apeal from the beginning\
and angelo is all about bows and charisma YEA THERE IT IS

I would go with swords and courage for the hero. But later in the game when i go metal slime hunting i made the metal wing boomerrang since it always hurts a metal slime make sure you get that with skill points. It helps grow levels later. With yangus scythes are the best way to go, but with scythes get that to 100 and also his humanity to 100 that is the best thing for yangus. With jessica yeah whips, knives and sex appeal is the best way for her. With angelo bows are the worst to go with you dont get any good moves from them swords are the best way to go with him he gets really good moves and the last move he gets is really strong. Anyways i hope this helps

I feel that powered up swords and courage for hero is the best cus you can learn mp reduction abilities and giga slash, which hits all enemies for alot of damage, yangus is good with axes cus he learns things like executioner and typhoes maul and humanity lets him use kerplunk, jessica is good with staves and sex appeal, staves help cus shes a mage rite? And angelo i always used swords with cus bolts from the blue is a kick ass attack

I would say for Hero it would be Swords/Spears/Courage,Yangus Axe/Scythe/Humanity(or maybe it called something else),Jessica Whip/Sex Appeal, and Angelo Bow/Charisma.But some people might not agree so it is up to you.

The Hero needs sword and courage spears are only useful post -game metal beefing. Yangus needs axes and scythes and humanity would be third mainly for kerplunk and share magic for me. Jessica with whips hands down then sex appeal since hustle dance is the second best way to heal(70-80 hp for 0 mp!) third which should be during whip training is surprisingly fisticuffs since at 52 skill points she gets a permanent passive ability of higher dodge(as in even with different weapons equipped) plus at 100 she gets magic burst hands down strongest move but most costly(all mp but base damage is double mp and can be tensioned.) Angelo is beast for me with bows and staves gives him all spells and bows has Seraph arrow which costs nothing and restores 1/8 of the damge dealt as mp! He also has the fisticuffs ability of higher dodge chance but I believe even lower than Jessica.
P.S. I won't deny I favor Jessica she has the best set of magic, strongest sword attack bonus(+30) whips, increased dodge for fisticuffs and hustle dance not to mention in the extremely large number of random battles her sex appeal at max has 1/8 chance of making enemies do nothing at all! Clearly worth favoring.
