Your scythe at the start of the game is your lost weapon. some of your teamates have one only one lost weapon per characters but some dont have any. you can upgrade them in do dona he go to the chaos gate then but hidden forbidden holy ground oh yeah holy ground is the 3rd word and you can upgrade them with virus cores which are obtained when you avatar awakening an enemy. here is the list of characters with lost weapons: Kuhn,Pi,Sakubo,Endrance,Yata (you get him after you beat Ovan),Atoli,Haseo and i think that there is one more or not.

The Lost Weapons are weapons specific to the Epitaph User characters you can recruit. In volume 2, you had to acquire Haseo's as part of the story and then acquire Adler's Keys on your own to unlock and obtain the rest, but they are unlocked and put in the inventories of the other characters automatically at the start of volume 3. Getting the weapons for your other characters in Reminisce is entirely optional, and the only thing you'll miss by not doing so is a chance to fill some blanks in Ryu Book VII.

In Redemption, you can upgrade the weapons by using Virus Cores obtained through Avatar Awakening (small monsters and AIDA-PC's give 1, medium-sized enemies 2, boss monsters 3), and for the final upgrade, by fighting a boss at about LV. 135. It takes 80 Virus Cores to fully upgrade a single weapon, starting at 5 for the first boost and going up until the ultimate cost adds up to a total of 80. The Virus Core upgrades merely raise the stats and slightly alter the look of a weapon, while the final upgrade changes its name, improves its ability, and creates one last alteration to the weapon's appearance. They do not alter the equipment's Level, whose only importance is limiting when you can use the weapon (it does nothing else). In order to use the Cores, you'll have to go to Theta: Hidden Forbidden Sacrament and bring the appropriate Epitaph User with you. Lost Weapons cannot be traded or sold, ever, so Haseo, Atoli, Kuhn, Yata, Sakubo, Endrance, and Pi will all have their weapons no matter what you do in the normal game. You don't have to worry about obtaining them in this game.

This is all explained in e-mails you get at the start of volume 3 (the ones from an anonymous ally).

If you want to know which weapons are really worth the effort, Kuhn's and Sakubo's weapons give you the biggest damage boost of any of the Lost Weapons, and with Kuhn's availability and Sakubo's severe need for SP to keep Lv.2 spellcasting going, Kuhn probably tops the list. Endrance would be third on my list since his final weapon combines a longer-lasting Charm ailment with Jet Speed Attack (JSA cutting the regular hits necessary for Rengeki induction in half, which is wonderful since Edge Punishers and Blade Brandiers are equally and absurdly fast at Rengeki induction with the right setup). Out of Haseo, Atoli, Pi and Yata, that's really up to you since none of them are especially good. Atoli only gets better stats and more SP Drain, but SP Drain isn't very powerful in the hands of a Harvest Cleric, No Interrupt doesn't change at all, and she only gets 10 more M-ATK. She would be better off with a Spell Noble wand using All Damage +25% (the Ginseng attachment) in any situation where she has to attack. Pi gets better Paralysis, and Critical +50% is nice, but only if you like using her. Yata's weapon has no real use until near the end of the big post-game dungeon, if ever, and Haseo's scythe is outmatched by Heine's Zero in terms of overall usefulness unless you really like using Attack Spells, Demon Awakening, and/or HP Drain (which isn't very useful until the final story battle because of the sheer number of enemies you can use to heal yourself in one slash).

Once you've upgraded them all, starting very late in the story, you can start trading Virus Cores for permanent stat boosting items from Wise Grunty, so despite how crappy some of the weapons are, going through the upgrading process may still be worth it.

If you are wondering if it is or is not an easy task to upgrade these weapons, I can tell after just finishing my second time through this game, and my second time upgrading every one of the lost weapons to its highest level, that it isn't really that hard at all. My one and only poece of advice for you on this: focus your fighting COMPLETELY on morale boosting. The faster your gets boosted, the faster you'll get Awakenings, and that's how you get virus cores.

There is another thing to consider - choice of, specifically of what level, dungeon you choose with your 3-man team. I will use my own current team, chosen because I need to advance one of the three's affection level from its dismal 3 slow spinning balls around a center - both of these a deep red - to the maximum affection rating, 5 pink balls whizzing around a pink center). Haseo is at Level 137, while BOTH of the other characters are only at Level 132. If I take them into a Level 137 dungeon, they will die alot, and hate Haseo, and in the end not much will get accomplished. B ut if I carefully watch the area word combinations until I find one that gives me a dungeon with level 132 monsters, but has level 137 items in it - voila! Problem solved. Not only are the two weaker characters still getting what they need and not suffering unnecessarily for it -which means your morale bar will continually build - Haseo will continue to pick up very useful -VERY TRADEABLE -items.

Just remember, though, if you want virus cores, get that morale bar moving!!! Actions that affect the morale bar are: first and foremost: RENGEKIS, RENGEKIS RENGEKIS as many as you can manage as often as you can. but if all you need is the tiniest bit on your morale bar when you are starting a fight, throw a healing OR support item (healing HP/SP replenishment, support: stat-boosting &/or ill-status removing) item out there - especially those that work on the whole party. This is also an especially useful trick for dealing with some of the more powerful enemies, including the terrifying doppelganger....I mean it, he really scared the bejesus outta me the first time I saw that thing...I suppose that mighta been cuz I was half-asleep at the time....heh heh, ahem...In any case, my point is that with the right level choice, I have been able to, on several occasions, earn between 46 and a whopping 73 virus cores in a single dungeon run. And without even breaking much of a sweat - oh, you'll need to have either Atoli or Yata in the party to really make this work, due to their abilities to perform La Corv, La Corma, La Vorv, La Vorma, Ap Do/Lapu Do, Rig Saem/La Rig Saem, and Rig Gaem/La Rig Gaem. Otherwise, you'll end up running out of some VERY expensive items.

If you want to see what a huge difference the Lost Weapons make, go to Equipment, select whatever equipment that player can currently equip - the highest level weapon that they can take, and no matter what that weapon's level is, unless you are very very deep into the game and have just been completely blowing off the Lost Weapons, take a look at the difference in the players' elemental stats when you bring the cursor down to the Lost Weapon. While these weapons may not seem like much as far as their attack power is concerned, they more than make up for it in elemental power AND in their special attributes, which make them uniquely powerful, so do read carefully what it is that each weapon actually does and know that all of them perform EXACTLY as advertised. Unlike customizableweapons which only have a percentage chance of actually performing whatever thing you've attached to them happening, Lost Weapons ALWAYS do what it says they will, and against all enemies (well, given that the enemy isn't immune to that effect, that is).

RENGEKI RENGEKI RENGEKI and all the Lost Weapons shall be yours in no time my friend!!

ok one thing i need to say just wth r u saying u dont have them? when i convert my games they start RIGHT off the bat with ALL of em (even though i ignore saku/ bo's i still get it) and some magical way when u get yata he has it and then u MUST lvl up to around lvl 140 cause when u lvl it to lvl 4 growth u have to kill a ridiculous monster (like in Vol 2 only SO MUCH EASIER) so dont worry. now if u dont start with these then THATS ONE SCREWED UP DISC.
