I died 2 times already and continued, but I'm trying not to continue when I die from then on. Does continuing affect anything like quests? Do I forfeit something?

statusI'm not too sure if you lose anything, but it gets recorded in your record file, so if you're a perfectionist, you should try avoiding continuing since it ruins your record stats.
Save often so you can reload with minimum loss.
