God of War II
Question from troymink
Asked on: 1/19 3:51AMOK... I am an "older" inexperienced gamer & thus am prone to cheats, hints & the like. (actually I started getting into gaming as I am a voice actor & do the occasional voiceover for video games... X-Box mostly... but I have a PS2... go figure!)
I have been playing for some time, "God of War II" & cannot get past the level "Euryale's Defeat" The part I have the most difficulty with is the swinging from pillar to pillar. The problem I seem to have is losing perspective, I think & actually knowing when to let go of the first pillar to swing on to the next. Inevitably I run out of time (even with the "Eye") OK... here's the embarrassing part... I have now ATTEMPTED to do this level like 63 times now!!! I know... I know... laugh if you wish... But I LOVE this game & desperately want to get past this level.. I am SO sick of doing this again & again.
I know nothing about "saves" but downloaded "Saves" in hopes of just getting a save point where I am just beyond this level so I can move on.
My question... what the HECK am I doing wrong? Is it just a matter of timing, stupidity??? To be honest I just wanna get a save from someone directly past this so I can move on.
Any suggestions... or does someone have to come to my game & DO IT for me!?!?!
How friggin' embarrassing!
Cheers,
Troy

YOU RULE!!! Thanks for that advice but I think I may have already done that or am yet to do that boss fight... regardless it will come in handy... however, I did a bad job of being more specific about where I'm stuck... The part I'm stuck at is with NO boss fight where all the fountains are... (the "save point" when I start the level is called "Euryale's Defeat") you turn the crank... the column rises & then I ATTEMPT to freeze time before the column sinks back into the ground... thus having to swing from column to column... fail... then... do it again & again. (Make sense?)
When it''s time to let go & swing to the next column I can't seem to let go in time to swing & then when/if I finally DO swing I have lost perspective of which way to jump & to what column. I think it may just be a skill (or lack of in my case) thing where your reflexes are great or... not... :o)
Sorry if this sounds even more confusing...
And hey... thanks again for answering I SO wanna finish this game... AWESOME!!!
Cheers

Ok. this fight sucks. it's like unblockable, so dont just sit there. its got an instant freeze, so if you see a red glow get ready to reflect, you'll have to press rapid [O] and youll damage it and it'll drop orbs. just keep hitting it, and eventually, it will run to a pillar and climb up it. It will either use the freeze wave, youll know, just reflect it. it wont hurt her but you wont freeze. it can also use little shots, just dodge those. and it can jump off the pillar. if it jumps, you jump. when it's on the pillar, hit it and eventually you can grab. be ready (i dont rember if it's interactive) you have to break two pillars and then I think it just stays down and you have to smack it silly until you have the grab icon. Then you have an active grab. then you get it's head.
Let go of the column when Kratos is lined up with the next one from your point of view. You will need to start to press the button (X I think) about half a second before he lines up. Then press X in midair to do a double jump, wile using the left analog stick to guide you to the next pillar.
Make sure you opened the exit door first, or you will have to do it all over again.
BTW. The Amulet of the fates will run out just as you start swinging around the first pillar, just keep going. The one that goes down is the third or fourth pillar, so after that just take your time. Before then you have time to swing round the pillar two or three times to get an idea of the timing.
ok heres what u do. first, crank the beam up and activate the amulet of the fates (make sure the beam is all the way up) then run towards the ladder and climb fast by pressing x repeatedly. as soon as ur up there reactivate the amulet and start swinging. DO NOT HESITATE! YOU MUST JUMP QUICKLY AND ACCURATELY! there is a total of four beams you must jump to. the third one is the one descending quickly so get there in time. as you swing you will see the fourth beam. jump to it. swing around. you will see the opening u need to jump to. dont worry u can take your time. the 4th one doesnt go down. and there u go! got it?

This really isn't a difficult part. To me, it is a rather daunting, and boring/time consuming part, after just have a major boss fight..... Ok. Start by raising the first crank you see in front you. Rotate it until it locks into place. There will be a silver crank that opens the gate into the water, pull it. Before you start swimming, simply freeze time (L1+R1), and swim through the gate. As you pass through the underwater gate, there will be a crank beside you. Pull it. This will open that gate permanetely. Swim to the surface. Rotate that crank until it fully locks. Swim back underwater until you see a crank that opens the next two gates. For this you must use the waterdash, and be quick. (Hold R1 down). After reaching the other side, there will be a third crank, and a gray/cracked wall behind the crank. Break it for a powerup. Rotate the crank until locks. Swim underwater and look for a wooden barricade type thing. Break it with waterdash (R1). There will be another crank, I believe. Then there will be a lever you pull that opens the door to your escape. Go through the passege way, and first go up the ladder and step on the pressure stone. There are two chests behind you. Open them while you're at it. Go back down the ladder, and to the water area with the crank. Use the Amulet to your advatage and defeat your enemies in slow mo! (I love chopping heads off this way, except the lack of blood is disheartening.) Anyways, rotate the crank and when it's up as far as you can make it, use the Amulet. Then rush up the ladder, then when your Amulet meter is full, use it again. Then simply swing your way across until you reach the last pillar. Instead of going straight through, there is a little platform on your right. It has two chests also. Get them, then swing towards the door. Now you're all the way through. I hope this was not too confusing. :D
