"Is This A "Real" Baseball Game?"

First let me say, this is quite a disappointment after all the wait. I got this game because of the WBC you could play. I must say that it is quite a letdown after they did such a good job with the NBA game. Let's review:

Graphics: 5 out of 10- Although not the worst, they are not the best...not even close. The closeups look dirty and for some reason the umpires can never make a fist when calling an out. Most players don't even look like themselves.

Sound: 6 out of 10- Nothing memorable here. Pretty much the same soundtracks like the NBA games. I liked the game sounds though, the cheers and fan calls where pretty decent and a couple of them even funny.

Gameplay: 6 out of 10- The swing stick sucks big time. It's hard to get the timing right so I use the classic control. Also, the fielders speed when releasing the ball is so slow that sometimes the runner can stretch a hit into a double. There are times that by the time you reach the ball and throw it back, the runner is on its way to the plate for an inside the park. There are too many errors on the plays that it feels like a bunch of little leaguers palying. Too many overthrows and bobbing the ball. An average of 5 or 6 errors per game.

Overall, I'd say about a 6 out of 10. The thing that really ticked me off is the team rosters. On the WBC rosters, there are many players that didn't originally made the team and are playing here. Also, the Cuban team is made up of a bunch of made up players and all with American names! Guys, this is supposed to be a Latin country! Also, major disappointment...the classic MLB teams that you're suppose to unlock is all trash. I mean, c' mon! The 1926 Yankees and no Gehrig or the Babe on the team? 1961 Yankees and no Maris or Mantle? 1972 A's and no Jackson, Rudi or Campaneris? 1974 Reds and no Bench or Griffey? Oh, but you can find Carlos Martinez and Bob Spurloni! Why wasting your time to unlock teams with a bunch of made up players? It makes no sense!
I'd say don't waste your money here, just rent, or get MLB '06 The Show, or better yet... get your old EA MVP Baseball game and play it again and let's hope for next year!
