Cold Winter
Review by Raddishsmoke878
"Stands out even though it does nothing different, it's brilliant!"
An Adventurous shooter that has more grit, and substance than soldier of fortune. The game is a truly good shooter.
The Thing I love about this game is that it stands out even though it does almost nothing different. To me, it takes the player on a fun filled trip and uses unique weapons and awesome locations to grip the player, and let em go, this is an cold game, its cold winter.
The game at first is nothing like you're expecting. Seeing as how story driven this is, it has the same general story Soldier of fortune has. Terrorist hijack some nuclear weapons and I leave the rest of the plot twist to you. The game itself is a very smooth and exciting game. I loved the guns they picked very good selection. Everything from a Double barrel shotgun, MP5K PDW to an PKM light machine gun to even an Flamethrower! It's awesome. The gameplay itself is pretty graphic as well. Body parts can be shot off. Blood gushes out of defeated opponents its all very gruesome. And on top of that, the game holds up. The AI isn't half bad, and you'll actually be challenged along the way. The single player is really stable for what its worth. The weapon play is great as I had said before. I liked the unique layout of the weapons. Like the SPAS12 in one level mixed in with Molotov . Some secret weapons can also be found, things like 40mm Grenade launchers and an sawed-off shotgun. The game keep's you addicted and always offers a new experience to do, its fantastic and you can't pass this kind of game up, and the game is beyond under-rated, so go out there and give it a try for yourself, your gonna love the single player game, trust me.
The graphics hold true. And the Game generally feels and plays like an awesome upgraded version of an Soldier of fortune. The game takes you everywhere, from Asia to Russia to even the labs full of nuclear research. It all ends in a well set world. the textures are in a nice high resolution, and the draw distance isn't too pixilated. Over all the visuals are clean and trimmed. I also liked the death animation, very well done. The body obliterations look like art to my eyes, and the game is generally smooth running.
The multiplayer is pretty good as well. While the maps are pretty bland, the multiplayer has bots, so even board off liners can have fun. It's a sweet game. I loved it. This can easliy keep you and a group of friends entertained for a night or two. While it's not the best, the wacky weapon layout, and smooth fram rate make it amazing to play with a buddy.
To wrap it up you get what you pay for and I paid a full 49.99 way back at release, I didn't even complain, great stuff, I highly recommend it.
