Yu-Gi-Oh! The Duelists of the Roses
Review by Conemara
"This game never gets old."
Yuigoh is one of the greatest things the world has ever experienced, it's trading card game caught the attention of many and gave a new meaning to the word, SPECTACULAR. This time around the company of Koonami has brought to us a great brand new adventure using almost the same exact concept as the trading card game itself.
GAMEPLAY: 10/10
The gameplay of this game is what seperates this game from all other types of Yugioh games. This game uses a brand new battling system which consists of different amounts of arenas enabling you and your opponent to take total advantage of it. From the start of the duel you draw cards from your deck and move them around the selected arena by using a brand new grid system which makes the duel much more interesting. If you are one of the many people in this world who purchase games due to their unique gameplay, then this game was made just for you.
STORY: 10/10
The story of this game is much different than the average Yugioh scenario and the television show itself. This story is set many hundreds of years back with two kingdoms currently at war. You have been summoned to help Yugi's kingdom but then Kaiba butts in to ask you for his help. At this time you decide to assist the evil side ( Kaiba's kingdom) or the good kingdom (Yugi's kingdom). Depending on what side you pick is what makes your opponents from whom you must collect a certain number of roses to summon an ultimate power that will help take down the opposite kingdom.
GRAPHICS: 9/10
The graphics of this game were far above my expectations and I was much too impressed with them. When talking to anyone in the game, the game uses very cartoonish graphics which are not at all attractive but when in a duel the graphics are changed to pretty good looking 3-D graphics. Also when two monsters are in combat the graphics of the game prove to be very good looking and show a one-on-one battling scene (which you may later on choose to not watch).
SOUND: 9/10
The overall sound quality of this game was a really good experience and the music of this game was really good as well. When in a duel the soundtrack which is played keeps the player tensed and gives the feeling that they are actually in the game themselves.
PLAYTIME: 10/10
The amount of playtime in this game is far much better than any of the other Yugioh video games. All of this is because not only can you complete two different stories (the good side and the bad side) but you can also collect all the cards that are available in the game to create the ultimate deck. You may also go back and duel with people whom you have already gone against as well.
REPLAYABILITY: 10/10
This game never gets old. Just like I had mentioned above, there are two different stories from which you may choose from. After completing one of the stories you may go back and start the other story as well, keeping the same cards you earned from the previous story. Also like many of the other games from the Yugioh series, there are many cards that you can collect with all sorts of different abilities.
BUY or RENT:
This game was made for the gamer to buy. If rented then you will regret and eventually buy this game to claim as your own.
FINAL: If you are one of those gamers who appreciates the Yugioh series and wants to take on a brand new adventure which compels you to use all of your mind power then this game was made just for you.
