Urban Chaos: Riot Response
Review by Circus888
"Quick, fun, and exciting action shooter!"
This game is a pretty original game, and I haven't played too many games like it. It is a first person shooter. New York City is under attack, and you have been asked to enlist in a special Riot Response team known as T-Zero. T-Zero is supposed to utilize various weapons, including military grade hardware, or brutal gang weaponry to tack back the city using any means necessary.
Gameplay - Extremely fun and exciting. You go through various levels trying to save hostages, escort people, help the fire and medical squads save people, and most importantly, kill a lot of gang members! You have Police helping you also, so you aren't completely alone. You have fire and medical squads at your dispense. If you need a door broken down, ask the fireman. If you need the medic to heal yourself or others, ask them. This game is action packed, but the storyline missions can be completed in a day or less if you wanted to.
You have these sideline objectives called "medals" that you don't necessarily have to complete. For example: making non-lethal arrests, getting a certain amount of head shots, finding and collecting gang masks for evidence, completing the mission without using up a checkpoint (once you die, you can return to the checkpoint if you have reached it and start from there, but I believe you can only die once in a mission). Once you get a certain amount of medals, you can unlock upgrades, new gear, new weapons, new levels, etc.
Difficulty - This game is not very hard, and it can be completed in a day or less if you wanted to do so. The missions are pretty clear--you will know what needs to be done and where to go, because you have an earpiece (dispatch) telling you where to go, and what to do next. You also have medical aid if you need to be healed, however, they can only heal you 3 times, I believe it is. You also have a riot shield to protect you from axes being thrown at you or bullets, or to simply keep the gang members back. You can also bash the enemies with your shield!
Graphics - The graphics aren't bad at all, but they aren't the best. I would say decent graphics, certainly livable. The fire in this game has a nice effect, and the shield you use for protection carries blood and bullet holes on it (depending if you use it and get shot at, or get blood on it or not). The graphics in this game don't bother me at all, and are perfectly fine, in my opinion.
Replay Value - Replay value is fairly high. As mentioned previously, you will want to go back and replay the missions to collect medals you may not have collected to unlock new gear, weapons, upgrades, and levels. And of course, you will always want to challenge yourself and create personal challenges to see how many gang members you kill in how much time!
Online play - There aren't too many people to play with unless it is during prime time (evenings and nights), but the Online portion is a nice addition, and it can be very challenging and fun to play other humans. There are 9 levels to choose from, and it is a max of 8 players (4v4). One team being the T-Zero, and the other team being gangs. Each team has their advantages, and it is equal play.
Overall - This game is perfect for me, at least. I am manager at a retail store, so I am always tied up at work, and don't have too much time to complete long games. It is something I can accomplish, and it has some replay value so if I get stressed, I can always come home and see if I can earn an extra medal by seeing how many heads I can blow off! ^_~
If nothing else, it absolutely 100% certainly deserves at least a rent. 9/10
