"Better than Devil May Cry? I Think So!"

When I first saw the cover of BloodRayne 2, I thought it would just be a stupid hack-n-slasher. However, when I started the game I couldn't stop.

Whether you're cutting minions into tiny pieces, throwing them into fans or swinging around on bars, the game is extremely entertaining. It feels like a cross between the Prince of Persia series and the Devil May Cry series. Both of which are very good series, which makes BloodRayne BETTER then the two!

Destroying hoards of minions, okay not so hard. Fighting a boss, plus a hoard of minions, plus any other enviromental hazards, EXTREMELY DIFFICULT. The first few hours of the game seemed overly easy, but when I started fighting bosses and newer, stronger enemies I was about ready to destroy my controller! If you like difficulty, then it'd be a sin not to pick up BloodRayne 2.

After flipping around on bars, slowing down time and going into a blood rage, there is still a plenty of combos and moves to discover in BloodRayne. After defeating a boss you'll earn a new move. These moves will come in handy throughout the game so you can defeat other bosses and get even more moves! Early in the game, you'll receive Dragon Pistols which are powered by the blood of your enemies, or in some cases, Rayne's blood. These pistols are helpful when you need to destroy minions from afar.

The cutscenes seemed like I was playing the game on a Playstation! As I watched the terrible cut-scenes play out, I was saddened that such a great game didn't have great graphics. Seriously, the cut-scenes felt like I was playing Resident Evil 2 or something. However, the fight and death scenes make up for this, as they are extremely graphic and extremely cool.

The voice-acting seems a little second-rate. The script is very poorly written and the characters say very corny lines. I couldn't help but chuckle everytime Rayne tried to say something cool. The most infamous line I would think is, "I need to make a withdrawal from the blood bank." Some of the sound-effects are recycled from older games. Like when a minion cocks a shotgun, it sounds like the noises the guns made from Conker's Bad Fur Day. When elevator doors shut, it sounds like the metal doors shutting in 007 GoldenEye. Sometimes, the noise from machinery would block out the voices of Rayne and her mentor so you wouldn't know what to do next!

The game is of medium length and just when you think you've beaten it...you're thrust back into it! However, it'll get to the point that you just want it to end and be over with, so this does get kind of annoying.

Extras are able to be unlocked, but you have to beat the game first. After that, replaying the game seems pointless, unless you want to do it over with cheats or something.

Renting this game would be the smartest thing to do. You could beat it in a few days, but after that it would be worthless. If you want to own it, go to a GameStop or something to get it real cheap because this game isn't worth twenty bucks.
