Capcom Classics Collection
Review by Exodist
"Once you play this, you will find modern games too easy, these games are hell."
Wow, once you play ANY of the games on this disc, you will think, WTF, how could he do that!? Welcome to retro gaming. Capcom Classics contains an amazing amount of games, 22, of their best and classical arcade games, with another volume yet to come. There are some good and some bad games on this, some of them are more or less the same. For example, you get Street Fighter II, Street Fighter II Champion Edition, and Street Fighter II Hyper Fighting! Also you get 1943 and 1943 Kai, which is just a remake. But there are many other good games too.
Graphics - 5/10
OK, so I can't really give it the best score ever because they ARE games made in the likes of 1987 and stuff. But I guess they are pretty good for the times. But the interface is a bit crappy, its like a notebook thing with cellotape sticking it together. It's kinda crap really. But the games differ in their graphics. Probably the most impressive are Street Fighter II Hyper Fighting and Super Ghouls'n Ghosts.
Sound - 7/10
I think that all of the music is Mono, with some exceptions, but I think they actually remade all the music as Stereo music. Its all pretty good, and by doing certain things in the games, you can unlock a menu so you can listen to all the music. Personally, I like Song 1 for Bionic Commando for some odd reason. Its all good, but some of it is bad. Some games have little music, some have a lot.
Gameplay - 9/10
Well, this depends on the game really. So i'll give a little explanation about all of the genres for the game. First off, most of the games are Shooters. We have bird-eye view shooters, shooters going from left to right, just about every kind of shooter possible. Most of them are the birds-eye view going upwards, thats quite popular. These contain a lot of enemies, about 20 or so (literally) on the screen, shooting at you, whilst you use the different abilities on the game (loops on one, bombs on another) to avoid them, or try shooting them, because you die in one hit. There is a puzzle game, where you kill enemies with barrels, its simple, but fun. There are also a couple of action games likes Ghosts'n Goblins, Ghouls'n ghosts, and Super Ghouls'n ghosts, which are generally pain in the asses, but also fun. And we end with fighting games, with the brilliant Street Fighter II and Final Fight. Playing these games, you can unlock bonus Art, Music, Cast descriptions and tips by achieving certain objectives, like in Street Fighter II, to unlock Art, you need to complete Arcade mode with NO continues. And trust me, its tough. Every single one of these games are hard, even if they seem easy at first. They are all good, hard, and fun games though.
Overall - 8/10
Its a great package with a whopping 22 games, all of them fun, but a lot of them are more or less the same. It will take awhile to unlock the stuff for them, and generally complete the actual game! If you are a retro gaming fan, a capcom fan, a arcade fan or are just looking for some fun, this is a good collection of games. Also, you don't have to spend a lot of money on them, you get as many continues as you want. Look no further for Arcade gaming gold. Highly recommended for the above people.
