NCAA Football 07

"Just keep playing NCAA 06"

I've been playing the NCAA games for a few years now and they've all been pretty good. Until now. Because EA decided they needed an exclusive license to NCAA football, they've gotten sloppy and lazy with this update.

Gameplay: 6

The gameplay is still pretty solid. EA decided to throw in a bunch of cool new trick plays but since some of them are pretty complex they can be rather difficult to pull off. Basically, if you've played any of the past football games made by EA then you know what to expect.

A new, pointless feature was added also. Now, on punts and field goal attempts, while on defense you can hit a button to switch to a third person perspective. This, in theory gives you a much better chance at blocking the kick. In reality, you don't get much closer to a block than you normally would.

Graphics: 4

You would expect that this being the last major year of the PS2's life cycle EA would go all out and make the game shine like never before. Nope! Because EA has the exclusive license to the NCAA they didn't even bother making even a small upgrade in graphics. Sure, they're nice and all but its the same old, same old.

Presentation: 5

Surely this year EA would do something different with the presentation of NCAA Football '07 right? Well, yes and no. The announcers still spout out the same drivel from all the other games to the point where you wonder if EA actually, ya know, attempted to have these guys come in and record something different. The homefield advantage was given a bit of a tweaking. Now, when the crowd goes nuts, you get to see the decibel level of the crowd. Honestly, who really cares? And they added in the momentum feature, which is totally worthless. It's supposed to make your players play better when the momentum is in your favor, but really, I couldn't tell the difference. Oh, and now your games are sponsored by Coca-Cola! I'm shocked the announcers didn't mention how great Coke is.

So should you buy NCAA Football 07 or not? Unless you're some crazy fan of the series and feel the need to light your money on fire go right ahead. Everyone else, show your disapproval of EA and keep on playing NCAA Football 06.
