"A few flaws, but a great game nonetheless"

Overview: This game is considered my many to be better than its main competitor, the NBA Live series. I am one of those people. To me, this is the greatest basketball simulation on the market today, and one of the best games ever. But that is just me, and you may think different of this game. Now, let's get this review started!

Controls: 8/10 I like this games controls, I really do, but there is something missing. The Circle button seems to just be another way to pass. I think that they could've done something different with it. The shot stick is a new and innovative way to shoot, but I can't stand shooting long-range shots with it. I use it for layups and dunks, mostly. I also use it when posting up. Defensive controls are better than last year, in my opinion. Instead of using a button to steal the ball, you use the right analog stick. It gives you more control over your steal attempt, and I can't imagine a basketball game without it. Another thing I enjoyed about the controls is that you use R1 and the left analog stick to try and get around the defense. It is a little tricky at first, but after you do get used to it, it's great.

Graphics: 9/10 The graphics for this game are great. The players fluently dribble and pass; it doesn't look blocky at all. Perhaps is only flaw in this department is when you do instant replays, manually and slowly. On dunks in instant replay, sometimes it doesn't even look like the player is touching the rim at all. If you get a block on defense and go to check it out in instant replay, it looks as if the player doesn't touch the ball sometimes. Those two are flaws of the graphics, but only in instant replay. While playing the game, you don't notice it at all.

Sound: 9.5/10 About the only deciding factor of if you like hip-hop music. I do, so I like the sound. Mostly. The commentators hardly have anything to say, as in they say about the same thing every time you drain a three-pointer or throw down a monster jam. One thing I like about this game's sound is that the first and last name of pretty much every NBA player is inserted into a name box. When creating a player, if he has the same first name as, say, Stephon Marbury, and the last name of Kobe Bryant, the announcer will say, "Stephon Bryant!". I enjoy this feature and use it quite often.
