Mercenaries

"Blow It All Up!"
Okay I wrote this review in 2006, that is quite a long time since it came out so Its not as good as it was originally, but Ive owned the game since the first few weeks it was out. Im saying that because some things aren't as good as they first were but its a GREAT game.
Story: 9/10
This game like many others is a "What If" game. What if North Korea did make nukes (Which they did). General Song killed his father and started ruling the country and was much more aggressive than his father was. The U.N. go in and try to stop him from using the nukes, well South Korea is trying to keep China out of there. The Russian Mob sees a good business opportunity and goes there to sell weapons and things of that sort while China wants whats left over of the place when it is all over.
Graphics: 9.5/10
At the time of Purchase this was one of my favorite games. The Graphics are very good. My favorite thing about them is the flames and explosions, and also the smoke. Imagine this... driving in a Humvee when you discover a North Korean base that is being attacked by the Americans. Smoke and fire everywhere. Pretty intense. Now go live it. Also the physics aren't too bad either. Blow up a car, watch it fly. Pretty simple but awesome.
Sound: 9/10
Okay I wouldn't know what a AK-47 sounds like or a fuel air-bomb going off in the middle of a NK base. But after playing this game you get a better idea of what it is, if for some reason you need to know. The best sound in this game is the voices. NOT everybody speaks English, or at least all they can say in English is "MERCENARY!". Russians speak Russian, Chinese speak Chinese, and so on and so forth. The voices are clear and easy to hear which is a major added bonus.
Game Play: 10/10
Here we go, the reason I wrote this... The game play is why you need to buy this game. Hey look was that statue mocking you? Go ahead blow it up just to be sure. You can blow anything up. You can make car bombs. You can fly heli-copters, you can drive tanks, you can drive APCs, you can drive cars (I would hope so), and you can blow up ANY building. Not just "special" buildings ANY building. The only thing I didn't like was if you have full health you CAN'T die in one hit. Ive called nukes on myself and didn't die. You can get shot many many times and live. But hey your fighting a nation with just yourself and a few comps, what do you expect. The game is fairly long, your trying to get the "Deck of 52" of most wanted NK officials. Another great feature is the ability to call for either supplies, vehicles, or airstrikes. It is one of the best things about the game. There are 5 factions in the game, 4 you can work for and the other is North Korea and your kind of at war with them and killing their men so yeah I don't think they would want you working for them. The other factions are (my favorite) Russian Mafia, China, South Korea, and The United Nations.
Overall: 10/10
The Game has very little flaws and I didn't give it enough credit when I made this review. Definitely buy this game
