Resident Evil Outbreak File #2
Review by Fox_McCloud2021
"Resident Evil Does It Again"
Well Resident Evil is back, and this time its.....well its not much better than the first one..
Gameplay: 6/10
What makes the gameplay score so low, is the online play. There are still many bugs, and the lack of having a Keybaord or Voice(Headset) chat during the online play, Which frustrates many players to no end, with the lack of communication. Then again, There is a new control, which lets you shoot while you move, which is a big thing if you're going up against a hard boss, or you're getting chased by an unruly Monster. Also, if you're stuck on the ground, with no ally in sight, crawl your way to an item! Thats right you can pick up items while on the ground! Woo-hoo. Don't forget: The Dumbass A.I. =D
Storyline: 9/10
Not much change in the storyline either. The new scenarios are...well...new but they still feel used and outdated in my opinon. The story itself, especially in the flashback scenario is quite nice. In the flashback scenario you can learn about the characters' pasts which I myself have always been a David fan. =). Anyways, not much of a change in the storyline except the introduction of new characters and scenarios.
Characters: 7/10
The same characters, same weapons, same voice-overs. It feels really old, but die-hard Outbreak fans will love the return of their favorite character. The characters look a little nicer, but the graphics could be better. What is frustrating is unlocking the new NPC's, which took me a hell of a long time for renting it from Blockbuster. Good luck on that by the way. The characters still have the same special moves/items like David and his tool-box or Jim and his "Playing Dead" technique, which raises your infection level at an incredible rate.
Graphics and Online play: 4/10
The online play in my opinion sucks ass. Plain and simple. You can't communicate properly and there are MANY MANY bugs to be fixed. The graphics too are a little outdated, especially since Resident Evil 4 raise dthe bar on Resi-Style graphics. This game also has a Resident Evil 2/3 esque to it which in most cases isn't bad, but some gamers might find that playing the same storyline over and over is getting a little tiring.
Overall: 7/10
All in all I'd say, go ahead and pick-up the game but don't get your hopes up. I wasn't that impressed with this game but I still liked it and found it to be an instant classic. I can guarantee any die-hard fan will love Resident Evil: Outbreak File 2 =).
