Cel Damage Overdrive

"A game that can only be played with friends"
Cel damage is one of those games that is great fun with friends and family but single player is just boring. Cel damage is game which features cartoon characters from a TV show called cel damage. You can play as one of these cartoon characters to smash, bash and crash the other cartoons. It's a basic concept but is very fun to play with family or friends, but if you're looking for a single player game then look some where else.
Game play: 8/10 (great)
As I have written before, it has great multi player but just isn't as fun in single player. Single player is exactly the same as multi player but multi player is better because real people are better to beat then the computer. There are 3 different modes of play, smack attack, capture the flag and gate rally. The aim of smack attack is to get the target amount of smacks, which can range from 300 to 1000 smacks. Different items give different amounts of smack points. All players also have a heath bar, and when they run out of health they die. Capture the flag is where there are flags that run around the stage, you have to collect 4 and then go to the win beacon. If you get hit then you lose a flag, if you die you lose all of your flags. Gate rally is where there 2 gates in a stage, you must go through these gates in the right order until you go through them enough that you win. You can set the amounts of gates you have to go through as well.
There are 12 levels, and these 12 levels are divided into 4 different arena styles. Those four different styles are wild wild west, jungle. Vampire and space. You start of with 1 level from each style and you unlock the rest. There are also 12 cartoon characters which you can play as, 4 of them you unlock. I don't know how many weapons there are but most of them you also unlock. Some of the weapons include chainsaws, freeze rays, harpoons, boxing loves, axes, buzz saws, pot holes, cluster grenades, springs, helicopters and others.
Graphics: 6/10 (average)
The graphics are cel shaded, which is why the game is called cel damage. Cel shading is cartoon graphics in games like the legend of Zelda the wind waker. I don't have anything wrong with cel shaded graphics, but it could have been so much better if it looked realistic.
Sound: 9/10 (great)
The sound in this game makes up for the cel shaded graphics. The sounds of chainsaws, explosions and all the other weapons and characters sound very good.
Replay Value: 8/10 (high)
This is one of those games that can be played over and over again, but only in multi player. Once you go through and beat the game on single player then you have had all the fun you can.
Which version should you get?
Cel damage was released on Game cube and Xbox as well as Play station 2. The Play station 2 version has some minor changes compared to the other versions, such as the heath system.
Rent or buy?
Well if you like cartoons then you should buy it, if not try to rent it.
