Review by DarkFusionX

"Feels like a summer action movie."

Story:

This is probably the weakest part of the game there is no real story that I can find it's something about a revolution in a Caribbean country The game starts completely out of nowhere where you free falling to the Earth. Even though it's cool it's not really clear who or what your fighting for. The characters are very forgettable also mostly at the fault that there not well written.

3/10

Sound:

Just Cause has average sound effects nothing really to mention or complain about here.

6/10

Music:

I wouldn't really know I turned the games music off 5 minutes into the game. Not because it's bad, but because I prefer no music in these types of games.

Level:

Notice I didn't pluralize this because it's set in a singular environment. This might be the biggest draw for most people. The game is absolutely HUGE with over 600,000 acres of land it's roughly half the size as the country of Jamaica. To give you an example of how huge it is, on the starting island the first thing I did was explore I thought after a half an hour I had explored about a quarter of the game area. No, I explored a small island that was completely dwarfed by the rest of the islands (there's about 6 and a HUGE mainland.) This game is big, though that there is not much to see around the country. Just randomly sprawled jungle with a mountain, town, or city here and there.

9/10

Control:

The controls are kind of bad you use R1 to accelerate and L1 to brake which takes some getting used to. The vehicles controls are really jerky on top of that. Helicopters control pretty good and are easy too use. Planes go way too fast and take a long time to turn. On foot the controls are pretty smooth nothing really to complain about on foot.

Graphics:

Oh boy what a mess even though the graphics should not matter I must warn you that they are VERY bad on the PS2. The character models don't stay still they have this weird constantly twitching skin, and the buildings always seem really out of focus. It gives you headache you can really tell that this game wasn't made for PS2 but for the Xbox or 360.

Gameplay:
This is the best part, and what sets it a part from any other Grand Theft Auto clone. The game exchanges things like realism for insane stunts. At any time when your driving a car you can kick off the door and jump on the roof. You can do a number of things from there you can jump off the car, jump to a near by car, or parachute up in the air. You can also use a grappling hook to grab on to helicopters and cars to go parasailing. Not many games let you drive a car off a 1,000 foot cliff, jump out, then free fall onto a helicopter, hijack the helicopter in mid-air, and escape to safety that's extreme.
