NCAA Football 06

Review by rolltide19921

"Possibly the best yet."

Introduction

This is my favorite of this very popular series. There are some changes, but not that many. They mainly improved the running game and added in a couple of more dynasty features, but nothing major.

Gameply 9/10

In dynasty there is now In-Season recruiting that works like the off-season, but you can invite your prospects for visits. The better you do, the more the prospect will like your school. Each prospect starts out with a list of eight schools. As the season goes on, he will narrow it down to three. You can then invite him for a visit. If you win on the day he visits you, there is a good chance he will commit to you. The best improvement is that the wide-outs can actually catch in this game unlike 2005 where they dropped the ball every time they were wide open. The new features in this installment is Race For The Heisman, and spring drills. In race for the heisman you have to try and build up your player and try to win the heisman. In spring drills you can practice all phases of offense, like option, passing, and just running. Dynasty still remains the same except for the new in-season recruiting. The weather can also effect the performance of your players. In hot weather they get worn out easily, in cold weather they tend to get injured more often, and in rainy weather there will be more drops and fumbles.

Graphics 9/10

The graphics are basically just like every other sports game. There are some nice effects like the player's jerseys getting grass stains and mud on them as the game rolls along.

Sound 9/10

The game has horrible music for the menus and such outside of the real game. Thankfully you can switch it back to the traditional fight songs. The commentary is the same and boring as always. During the plays you can hear the players grunt and the pads popping. The crowd cam also get very loud.

Replay value/Unlockables 10/10

They still have the pennants, cheats, stadiums, and all-time teams for you to unlock. The dynasty will be fun for a while, but you will eventually get bored with it. After you have lost interest in dynasty mode, you can try out Race For The Heisman. It is fun reading the fan mail and trying to build up to a great player.

Rent Or Buy

If you are a fan of college football or this series of games you will definetely want to buy this because in my opinion, this is the best yet.
