"Die Pathetic Monkeys!!!!"

Well having only rented the first Destroy All Humans!, when I heard the sequel was coming out I hastened to pre order it, simply because I loved the experience from DAH1. And I must say, my expectations were exceeded in this sequel. Finally you don't have to stick to one city! In fact you travel the globe to many various locations, but more of that to be discussed later on

Story: 8/10

Basically you are Cryptosporidium, a Furon clone who is now the President of the United States of America (which occured in DAH1). What makes this Crypto clone different from all the rest is that he is the first Furon since the beginning of their civilisatin to be born with genitals! Strange? Yes. Anyway, the basic outline is that your mothership in space is blown up, and your boss and everything else destroyed. Crypto comes out of office to try and gain back pieces of his mothership, preach the cult of Arkvoodle, and to destroy humans (or monkeys as he affectionately calls them). You travel the world, from the US, to Britain, to Japan and to Russia. Along the way you encounter crazy KGB, drugged out hippies, confused ninja and a sexy Russian lady who Crypto tries his best to hit on. Fun? You bet!

Gameplay: 10/10

One of the best features of this game. Not only has your arsenal been expanded, but there are far more options from which to torture you pitiful human scum. The game moves through main missions, provided through Holo Pox (your boss, he managed to save himself to a computer and communicates with you that way), Natalya (the hot Russian), and other odd people. There are also side missions and cult missions, as you try to establish the Cult of Arkvoodle, Lord of the Sacred Crotch. Missions are quite varied, and can be frustatingly difficult, suprisingly easy, and occasionally not too bad. In terms of arsenal, take your pic. From a lightning gun, to one that fires burning hot fire, one that fires anti grav discs, meteor showers, and of course the almighty anal probe. Nothing quite as funny as watching a hippie run around holding their ass before their head promptly explodes. And of course your saucer, ther classic death ray, sonic booms, and such make exploding buildings and crushing those tanks oh so much fun.

There are also many ways to hurt the humans through your teleknesis means (something the Furons pride themselves on). The body snatch will be invaluable to you, as you can take over any human in your sight, Using the free love causes all civilians to boogey on down for a good 15 seconds to give you time to take over a body or escape. And of course the extract, gotta have some way to get those lovely brain stems. Then add the scan ability, allowing you to read minds, honstly some of the comments will have you laughing for a long time, and each city presents new and interesting thoughts. The big use of Crypto is his PK, which he can use to pick up objects, move them, throw them etc. Comes in very handy later on. A nice addition while in the saucer is the ability to cloak - this allows you to free roam without too much hassle from those damn cops and army. You also have the ability to "drain" power from any moving object, effectively boosting you own shields, very handy. And of course the almighty abduct. Where would you be without the abduct? By abducting various humans you can put them in the "gene blender", which effectively mashes them all together, and comes out with a new ability for Crypto. Very fun

And where would Destroy All Humans be without its humour and pop culture references? Crypto's constantly cynical mannerisms will have you in stitches, and the fact that you get to choose how Crypto responds adds another fun element to the game. Characters also make constant referalls to DAH1, and also pointing out various factors in the culture at the time. For example, while in Japan, Crypto asks many times "why the hell are there ninja in 1969?!" to which he gets the answer "well everyone loves ninjas". Awesome.

Sound: 9/10

I would give this a higher score, but after using Free Love for a few days, you REALLY begin to get sick of the music played during the time. But overall the sound quality is good. The screams of the humans are satisfying, the sounds of the weapons ring true, the dialogue is clear, and the atmosphere is well suited. Plus as you go along the game you can unlock 60's music tracks which all add to the gameplay experience.

Graphics: 9/10

Basically take the DAH1 graphics and polish them up a bit. By PS2 standards its pretty good, the detail on Crypto is fantastic, although some of the other characters could do with some work. Backgrounds are very nicely drawn and the buildings are nicely detailed, plus make satisfying remains when destroyed. The weapons also look good, and the colours are very pretty.

Replayabilty: Yes/No

Yes and No. The game is relatively long, but after you've done 100% there isn't much all left to do. Destroy more humans, blow up buildings, etc. But after you've spent however long completeing the game, it gets boring. But hey thats just me :)

Rent/Buy:

If your not a big fan of this game, or are a bit hesitant, rent it. If you played the first and loved it, buy this game, you won't be dissapointed

Final Score: 9/10
