Gauntlet Dark Legacy
Review by monkeydance994
"Nothing better than watching zombies explode at the hands of your unlimited axes!"
This game is really awesome!
There are many different characters, some that you unlock with cheat codes, some that you unlock by completing those maze things (which are hard as crap on multiplayer, especially with a stubborn partner.).
GAME PLAY
Great. There are several puzzle type areas where you run out of keys or something. I'm a huge RPG fan. Golden Sun is one of my favorite video games of all time. I got addicted to the characters. I eventually got to level like 50 because I couldn't figure out what the heck I was doing. . . . beck to the game I'm actually reviewing.
GRAPHICS
Not good. But that's not a bad thing. Because this is based on an old arcade game it's got crappy graphics, but again that's not a bad thing. This game is TOTALLY fun enough to get past the graphics.
LEVELS
The levels are really cool. There's one level that is like a body, or something. It's got like intestines running through it and lungs and all this wonderfully gross stuff. The first area, the Forbidden Province or something like that, is my personal favorite. It can get kinda creepy at night. Running around with zombies popping out of graves and stumbling at you with freakish curved bloody weapons and scythes and groaning and sickles and evn MORE sickles and bloody scythes and BOO!!! Creepy.
CHARACTERS
Great characters and a good thing because there are about a MILLION of them. There's the wizard, the knight, the Minotaur (my personal favorite), the Falconess, which has practically NO clothes on (uhh. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . awkward . . . . . . . . . . . . . . ) PUT SOME CLOTHES ON CHICK!! And there's a really neat touch - every character gets a "sidekick", if you will, that me and my friends name (call us sissies, see if we care). My minotaurs dragonfly's name was Ralph, the pheonix you can pick up throughout the game name was Johnny, and I have no clue why I'm boring you with useless information so lets move on shall we?
DIFFICULTY LEVEL
This game can be really easy and really hard at different parts of the game. The Dream world can be quite confusing, because it's dreams and you know how strange dreams can be. Then sometimes the emimies can be overwhelming in numbers. Sometimes there will be a stray archer shooting at you or you could be overrun by about fifty zombies. This can also be easily fixed with a good potion.
REPLAY VALUE
Depends on your taste. I beat it with a friend and I haven't played it since because the game is so flippin long! If you absolutely LOVE the game and you can't get enough of it, try to beat it with every character and get them to level 99. This will take a really long time and you'll have probably lost all your friends after you spend the first twenty three years of your life trying to do this. Another thing you could do is go back and try to get the items of legend and rebeat the bosses with the new items. Or you could try to get all the stats of every character to 999 which would probably take another twenty three years.
This was a really great game, and the only reasons I give it an eight is because of how long it takes, how frustrating it can be and it's low replay value.
