College Hoops 2K7

"It ain't perfect, but this game's OK!"

Basketball season is upon us, and so we get to see the newest addition to the sports gaming world--College Hoops 2K7. This game runs very smoothly, but there are some weaknesses as well. Everything seems basically rehashed from last year. Is that a good thing, or is that a bad thing? It all depends on the gamer himself.

SOUND

Many of the notable fight songs are included in this game, but it's a shame that the "Create-A-Chant" feature only exists in the X360 version, because it would've made a fine addition. The crowd chants sound just like what you would hear at a real collegiate basketball game. Even the old "air ball" chant is pretty cool. There is one gripe about the sound that really causes College Hoops 2K7 to lose some points, and that is everything is basically rehashed from last year--even the commentary of Verne Lundquist and Billy Packer sounds the same as last year.

GAMEPLAY/CONTROLS

The controls are the same as last years, but they are quite smooth. The Legacy Mode is still there in all it's glory, but the one gripe about it this year is that they don't have a "news" section in which you got to read highlights of a previous game. All 330+ Division I teams are in this game, including my Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Islanders and a few new teams like the Winston-Salem State program.

GRADE: 9

GRAPHICS

The graphics look rehashed from last year, but they are still impressive. The arenas look nice, but they should go to each and every Division I venue personally and check out its features. For example, the AmericanBank Center in Corpus Christi, TX is an 8,000 seat venue, but the game's design makes the venue look like it seats more than 10,000. Otherwise, the player models are just fine.

RENT or BUY?

It depends on whether you like this game or not. This really isn't a bad game, especially one that's only $20. You'll be enjoying your dream season over and over again once you play this game!
