NCAA Football 07
Review by TitanCannon4
"Same game, different name"
Football. Considered the toughest American sport, and not to be confused with soccer. NCAA '07 was a hopeful to be a step up from NCAA '06. Well, that's not necessarily true, but it does have a couple new things that '06 didn't feature.
Gameplay---8/10
You've seen it all before. Choose your play, choose your man, pass the ball, hope it lands. But, in '07 you get some pretty nice new features. I personally like the 3rd person view, it's a new little feature where you can press triangle and get to see things from the player's point of view, but only during returns or field goal attempts. It's actually a bit easier to block FG's on the 3rd person view.
A new thing that '07 features is momentum changes. It's a cute little feature that does absolutely nothing really. They say it's supposed to make your players play better in the game, but I never noticed any difference in the way they play.
Now comes the two new features that I actually thought were pretty cool. Campus Legend Mode and Dynasty Mode. Campus Legend Mode lets you make a player, assign your position, choose your major, and go through college as a student from Freshman to Senior. Your main goal in this mode is to become extremely popular in your school, all the while keeping your grades up, and doing very well in weekly games. And the best thing is, you can go your Senior year and finish college, or you can go to the pros, which is continued in Madden '07.
Dynasty Mode is where you can be a coach and choose plays for your team to do, lead them to the national championship, draft players, and basically do what regular coaches do in real life games. I didn't particularly like this mode, so I'm not too sure what else to write.
Sound---9/10
The sounds in this game are very realistic. From the crowds (actually, these sound the same from '06), to the player's grunts when starting plays, to the QB yelling "hut", everything is like being at the real thing.
The one thing that I just turn down the volume to is the announcers. It becomes repetitive and just plain annoying. Turn on the radio instead of listening to a skipping record like these guys.
Graphics---5/10
Like gameplay, this is same old, same old. But, unlike gameplay, this really has NOTHING new about it. I mean, I expected more but I received...the same thing from '06. Wow, what originality EA.
Pros
+3rd person view
+Momentum changes
+Two new modes
Cons
-Nothing new in graphics
-Announcers are annoying
Final Thought---
All in all, this game is pretty fun, but I wouldn't buy it if you already have '06. The new things might be fun, but they quickly lose their fun. Not a bad try, but we know EA can do better.
