"Wooden hanguns??? Ninjas??"

OKay after reading so many reviews on NInja Assault I thought I would do one that would be not so bias and less comparative with other games. I played this game at a Arcade on a crusie ship. I played it and me being gun happy (more so than Ota form Patlabor) I played it everyday with my buddy. We never got far mainly because we only got $5 a day and wanted to spend it on some other the cruises more luxerious things. I think this is a decent game I mean it's a shooter.

Graphics hmmmm..... 3.95/5
The graphics aren't really great. but better than at the arcade. Yes It's somewhat choppy and many ppl say smoothed out PS graphics. I say does that matter in a rail shooter game? NO! Are you really gonna have time to look at the sceneary with hordes of ninja, demons and mechanical spiders flying (literaly) at you, mostly like no. The enemies I admit look kinda flat but not totally horrid to look at. Kinda like the mobile suits from the ps2 gundam games up close. Enemies range from slow moving samurias, demons ninjas, mechanical spiders to huge a$$ bosses. Colors are dark and suit the game well.

Gameplay 5/5
Ah, point, shoot, reload, repeat. why the hell do ppl rate this game's gameplay so low all because of no extra ammo or power ups? In a light gun game it's all about the shooting. This games has loads of enemies on one screen and you will need to be accurate. Each enemy has a health bar which... well u know. So there's the main games, after that the usual training mission,.. blah, blah, blah. Theres a mode that let's you play following altered story lines, but it's just means seeing the stages in different orders. Play this games with a light gun. I recommend the Guncon and not GUNCON2, why? guncon2 is slighty less accurate and breaks more easily. And don't use the controller there's an auto target lock on system that makes the game so easy. So you can play using two guncon, or two guncon2 or a gun and controller or two controllers (controllers don't have to be dualshock2) and don't play it with a gun that has recoil and all that cuz you will be tired really quick

Story N/A
It's a light gun game doesn't matter. Well the story basiclly is the evil Shoguen demon want to sacrafice the princess to secure his ressurection. two Ninjas armed with handguns head off to save the princess. In the home version there a thrid ninja but meh.

sound 4/5
the usual gunshots are good. Probably the most annoying sound would be the enemies. They yell ARRG!!!! when charge you, ARRG!! when u shoot them . these sounds could be better but they manage.

Overall 8/10
not based on math and jsut my impression this game is an 8. If you love light gun games, get this game. These light guns games are great for wasting time and playing with a buddy. Ninja Assault is alright on it's own as it is one of the few light guns games sold.
