The Sims 2: Pets
Review by RoxasANobody
"What were they thinking?"
What were they thinking
This is basically Sims 2 with pets. You get to buy pets and have them as your family members. You get to teach them new tricks, if you have a dog they scare away criminals. You're probably thinking that this game is wonderful, well you might want to change your mind.
Graphics
4/10
Sure the regular Sims look great, but have you seen the other things? Some of the items you can buy for your house lack color. That is all that makes the graphics worse, the lack of color in some items. Some of the scenery looks awful also. Did they rush this game just for money? Did they think of the fans when they made this? Probably not.
Game play
6/10
It sure is fun the first hour or two you play the game. You open the refrigerator and you get to pick what you want to create. Typically that would be fun, but it has no use. You just have to pile meat on top of each other to get a good meal. They should have taken out this and implemented another feature that could've done us some good. Why did they take something out that didn't need fixing? The food system was great the way it was before. All you had to do was go to the refrigerator and click what you wanted. Example: Go to refrigerator, pick group meal, make group meal. That was easy and not so complicated. Moving along, they finally implemented a great feature that I think everyone would like. You have free control over your Sim, or you can hit the select button and go back to classic mode. This feature was a useful one.
Sound/Music
5/10
You barely even hear anything. You can occasionally hear the sound of a cat "meowing" or a dog barking. When you turn on the stereo you dance around for a few seconds then you turn it off. The only good song I heard was by Saving Jane. The others were making my ears bleed. Some sounds made the game fun, but were irritating after a while. The shower running, bathtub filling, refrigerator door closing, and everything else was repetitive after two hours of game play. There is nothing special about the music and sound.
Storyline
A Joke/10
I was actually thinking this game would be fun, that was until I started playing. The first thing I saw was Continue Game and New Game. Of course as a newbie I scrolled over to New Game and pushed X. This is basically free mode with pets! This should be called Sims 2: Special Edition, not Sims 2: Pets. You don't even get to BE A PET in the game. They overlooked the fact that people probably wanted to play as a pet! Also, whenever you wash your pet in the bathtub it doesn't even stay clean for thirty (Sim Time) minutes! There is not use of washing them, and it's really hard to communicate with them when you have a daily job. The only times you get to actually do things with your pets is on the weekends. There is no plot to this game except to attract people. That is the weakest plot in the world, this is more of a Dora the Explorer game then a Sims game.
Rent/Buy
Rent
Rent it. If you think it is awesome, then buy it. I suggest that you don't buy it though. It's a waste of 29 dollars.
