Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories
Review by William_Roebuck
"Obviously it would be portedm and it is doing well like it's previous game."
When Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories came out for the PSP, everyone was awed by it, but some people were a bit disappointed that it didn't come out for any other console at the time. Rockstar answered their prayers and came out with a PS2 version. This made everyone happy and they couldn't wait for a sequel. Again, Rockstar answered their prayers and came out with Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories. This time, more people had PSP and bought the game and it sold well, very well. In rewarding the sales, Rockstar ported the game to the PS2 and that version is what we're gonna focus on.
The story takes place in 1984, two years before the events of Grand Theft Auto: Vice City. The playable character is Victor Vance, a corporal soldier in the United States Army, stationed at Fort Baxter in Vice City. Not long after arriving in Vice City though, he runs into trouble with his Seargeant, Jerry Martinez, that gets him kicked out onto the streets. Now that he is caught up in this revelation of events, he has two choices, build up a crime empire, or die trying. The games story gets really deep and connecting with the characters. The game will have you playing again and again just because of the story, guarenteed.
The gameplay well exceeds the gameplay of the previous games, especially the battle system. The battle system has been expanded so that you can grab enemies and snap necks for MAJOR DAMAGE!!! Well, there is more to it than that, like being able to swim for a short period of time instead of just drowning. And every weapon that doesn't have a usuable scope can lock on!!!
The soundtrack is all in the right time era, and all of the songs are real. And the game includes a special guest, but I ain't telling. The voices were masterly done and the sound effects were done like a pro.
The difficulty is HARD. Very hard actually. I will say this, if you can get through this entire game without getting wasted or busted, you are a gaming GOD.
OVERALL RATING: 9.
