Metal Slug Anthology
Review by fortelambardi
"A good buy for a Metal Slug Fan or any other gamer..."
What can I say? They did a good job porting all the Metal Slug games onto one disk.
Gameplay 10/10
This game has all the solid controls as its arcade counterparts. The only problem you may have is the loading screens between missions and areas of the mission, but you probably won't care unless it somehow messes up your "rhythm". The learning curve of this game is probably about 5 minutes (lmao). Since you only need to remember a 4 things: jump, shoot, duck, throw grenade. If you can't handle dying alot, then I suggest you stay away from this game.
Graphics: 8/10
"Less is more." With that in mind, Metal Slug doesn't need flashy graphics to make it a good game. If there were too flashy graphics, you may not be able to see enemy attacks (as one of the people from the project said). You probably won't have a problem with the graphics unless you're a die-hard polygon fan or something. The old-school graphics can be pretty nice to look at, and you might be reminiscent about how old-school games looked.
Replay Value 10/10
This game also had ALOT of reply value seeing as you can play any of the Metal Slugs (1-6) any time you want. There are also difficulty modes in the options menu so that you can change how hard you want the game, and you can also set a certain amount of continues you want to play with. This can also be good for those players who want to challenge themselves to play only a certain amount of continues. However, fans of the Metal Slug series might get the most out of this game. If you're not a real fan of Metal Slug, you might get alot less reply life in your game. I also forgot to mention the fact that this Anthology includes Metal Slug 6 (which has not been released yet).
Controls 10/10
They match the arcade versions just about perfectly. The simplistic controls help you during the times where the screen gets flooded with enemies. You can use the analog sticks, or you can use the digital pad for control (I personally use the digital pad for these games). These are one of those games where you can just "pick up and play" without having to remember a bunch of commands.
Overall, this game is a great buy whether you're a fan of this series, or you're just coming into this wondering what the hoopla is all about. If you have any friends, I SUGGEST you play this with them (seeing as this game can get hellish at times). I think alot of people may enjoy this game. :)
