Disney's Tarzan Untamed
Review by MoeBear
"Fun with Tarzan!"
INTRO
I don't know why I always keep finding myself playing Disney games. It must be that they are so many of them out there these days, you can't avoid them. The movies are cool, don't get me wrong, even Tarzan, the movie, and mini series was great. Now comes the video game, what can we expect from this, the one on the Game Boy Color, I didn't like at all, but this one is completely different. This is how this game goes. You are Tarzan, living in the Jungle. One day an evil mastermind comes here captures all the baby apes. It's your job to find them and free them, and completing mini tasks along the way.
GAME PLAY
This is cool game playing. You are in the Jungle all the time jumping, climbing, swinging from vines, in and on top of the water, etc. This is pure action here, but cartoon-ish like action. Just like the Tarzan series. I must say this game is made for younger game players, but I think adults will love it too. The main part of the game is to collect film reels, those helps you find and free the baby apes. There are a lot of levels in this game, if you not paying attention you can easily get lost, when back tracking. You need to do this cause, in some boards you can't complete them cause you missing things. You need to complete little tasks with the apes in other boards to get them. So in short you need to back track to rescue the apes you missed from before.
The save points in this game will drive you nuts. They are few and limited. If you screw up you will find yourself doing many boards over and over again. So you must be very cautious of not dieing, otherwise you will get frustrated and annoyed. I think this is the only real bad thing about this game, otherwise, everything else looks good to me. People say this game is easy, but I fail to find it that easy. It is only easy if you are patient. The controls are easy to learn and use. You don't have to worry about the camera angle, cause the game controls that for you. It is bad in a way if you are used to controlling the camera angel and seeing anything you want. Then again its good, cause you don't have to bother with it. This game has a lot of good or bad points; it depends on how you look at it or what type of game styles you like.
APPEARANCE
This is another aspect of the game that will differ with different players. This does have great overall graphics and appearance of the jungle. But it is the same cartoon-ish format you see on TV. So in plain simple English if you like the show and the graphics on TV, you will like this, otherwise, you are going to say this is childish and dislike it. Sound effects and music is your normal jungle and Tarzan theme songs. Nothing special to brag about but fits this game perfectly.
OVERALL
I think I have said more then enough about this game, I liked it and enjoyed it very much. It does help to be a Tarzan fan, if not, you still will find good things about this game. It is not the world's best game, but pretty dam good. For fewer than 20 bucks you should be able to find this game new or used.
