"Awesome"

Okay, I'm not being a noob or anything, but technically this was the first World War II game I've played (but I've played some military shooters like Rainbow 6 and Killzone). Call of Duty 3 for the PS2 really turned out awesome despite the somewhat mixed reviews (but usually positive). Here's another lowdown of "COD 3" by yours truly, GTAsoldier:

Graphics: 9/10

This game has kicka** graphics. It's realistic and it catches your attention quickly. Its like you're actually in the game and shooting at your enemy, and dodging for cover. Be careful out there....

Story: 7/10

Well its a typical World War II game where you play as the Allied Powers (USA, UK, France) and battle the Axis Powers (Nazis [Germany]) in the battlegrounds of France (most possibly Normandy). You play as Pvt. Nichols of the 29th Infanty division and then gets transferred to the 90th Infantry. Its pretty basic like all WWII shooters. Kill the Axis forces. At least the upcoming "Call of Duty 4" gets more in touch in modern warfare (but not based on the war on terror).

Gameplay: 8/10

Like I said, this game is awesome. "COD 3" really makes you feel like in the battlefield. From shooting your enemies, throwing frag gernades, planting bombs, and driving tanks and other vehicles. The game's online mode is really cool, but the only thing that bothers me in the online multiplayer is that there are no buddy lists, messengers, and there are weak admin controls (no kicking, banning, etc.) but it's pretty cool.

Controls: 10/10

Excellent control tatics for your soldier. From proning, and zooming in with almost any gun or rifle, its just fabulous.

Buy, Rent or Pass (Overall): BUY THIS GAME if you like the Call of Duty series or if you want some light shed on you if are quite new to WWII shooters. I highly reccomend it for anyone.
