Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 2

The Dragon Ball Z Budokai games just keep getting better with each installment and Dragonball Z Budokai Tenkaichi 2 is no exception. With major improvement over last years installment, DBZ Budokai Tenkaihi 2 does not disappoint. Enough of that though. Let's get right to main event.

Presentation - 9: The game once again goes with the cell shaded look for the characters. Story mode is considerably longer than last year's, as it covers the entire DBZ saga, movies, and even some of the GT storyline. Not to mention that there is 120 playable characters (maybe more?) and the ability to customize them with the Evolution Z feature.


Graphics - 8: The graphics have improved over last years title. From Ki blasts to character models, everything looks great.... in action that is. If you take a closer look at the character models though, you'll find that they still appear a little blocky. That matter aside though the graphics are great. Power auras and ki blasts have been redesigned for the better as well. It's basically like you are playing the show.

Sound - 8: You might be pleased to find out that Tenkaichi 2's BGM has been completely redone, as it no longer carries over music from the Budokai series. Sadly, the same can't be said for the sound effects. The sound effects were really not improved whatsoever and they have been brought over from the first game. The voices are still great and the characters still prove to be chatty during battle.

Gameplay - 8: While the game still proves to be a bit of a button masher you know have more combos available than in the last game. The AI is fairly decent and you'll find that if you were good in the previous installment you might need to revisit the tutorial once more. The controls are great and the fighting is top-notch. Characters take awesome damage and you can actually notice the beating that they take during the fight, as their outfit gets torn apart and their bodies get scratched, burned, and cut up. It stays true to the show.

Overall - 8: An impressive game. With over 100 characters to choose from and the ability to customize their parameters, awesome fights, gameplay, and an expanded storyline Dragon Ball Z Budokai Tenkaichi 2 is well worth your time and with it in the Greatest Hits category now, you can enjoy it for a mere 20$. Great game overall.
