"Bad game based on a so-so film"

Story
A little girl enters the monster world and Sully tries to catch her and take her home. The game follows the plot of movie which wasn't a good story to begin with. The characters are uninteresting and there is even a part that seems A LOT like the airport scene from Toy Story 2 (same guy wrote both movies). I didn't care for the story but I guess kids under the age of 7 will like it. I give story a 6/10

Control
Moving your character feels like moving a rock since he is so slow. Everything he does is a little slow. The only real problem I had with control was trying to do the double jump when bouncing off the things that are bouncy. I give control a 8/10

Voice Acting, Sound Effects and Music
Anytime you see a movie clips, it uses the real actors voice. Whenever you hear a voice during the game it isn't the voice from the movie and it's really easy to tell because they sound nothing like the real actors. The sound effects decent but nothing great. The music is catchy in a weird sort of way but it gets annoying after awhile. I give voice acting, sound effects and music a 6/10

Game play
The game has a total of 8 levels and 4 bonus levels. The normal levels are right from the movie but they are really short and easy. The bonus levels are nothing but mini games which I found boring and not worth the trouble. There are three things you need to do on each stage to unlock the secrets. Scare the five mice before the timer runs out which is the easiest one to do, collect the five scream canisters which is tricky cause some are hidden pretty well and collect at least 90 screams. You only need to collect the screams on certain levels and you can find out which ones by going into the level select screen and seeing which ones have a door at the end of the scream counter. The levels are poorly designed with a camera that isn't always movable. There was one stage I was stuck on because the game wasn't letting my character land on a tower and it just kept throwing him to the ground which was really annoying. I give game play a 4/10

Replay Value
The game takes about 2 hours to beat with everything unlocked which is very sad. The game isn't even that fun and the mini games just made the game even more boring for me. There are some nice extras in the game like interviews with the guys who made the movie and a tour of Pixar but the interviews are clearly cut up and they tell us nothing that is interesting. The Pixar tour is pretty cool but it could have been a better tour since it's mostly guys talking in hall ways. I give replay value a 1/10

Final Score
I give Monsters, Inc. a 4/10
