"Severe disappointment"

I'm really upset with this newest release. The default song list is lackluster, at a glance there seem to be NONE of the good old songs. The 'hyper master mode' which you complete missions to earn points to open up new songs/courses etc. is nearly completely linear! You get a bunch of songs in a 'Letter' and then there's a 'boss' song at the end ... which you can just skip straight to without playing or beat all the other songs in the Letter and you need to beat the Boss songs to open up the next letter. The format is uninteresting, and a real let down after the innovative 'planet' system that supernova had and the structural map of x-treme 2 ... well... at least you got to NAVIGATE that one. Maybe I'm missing something and there is a way to change it into a more interesting layout but I really hate that this is the default format if there is. Now, there's also the fact that suddenly about 70% of the missions is a 'trick'.

I bought this game this morning, hoping to luck out and get a copy with all my old favorites like A-amuro or V or Butterfly or Speed over beethoven or Love Shine and Dive but this game has NONE of that! I should have probably checked gamefaqs first before buying this game (then again, I thought it was still supernova out) I wasted HOURS playing the stupid hyper master mode to get new songs only to be disappointed when I realize that they don't have my old favs. Normally, I'm able to get to like the new songs and some of them are at least catchy but seriously... this version seems to be FILLED with slow songs and not enough of the faster MORE FUN songs!

The steps are HORRENDOUS! I don't know if they suddenly got a new format artist to do the steps but they don't 'flow' like the older songs do. Oh yeah, and in game mode, there's no 'all songs' tab... it's 'tutorial' 'beginner' and 'standard'. What? So, will I be able to get an 'all songs' tab if I play through more of those stupid missions? I shouldn't have to go back to select a different tab every time I want to select a song from another category!

I can't believe I bought this version of the game! tomorrow I'm going to bring it back and trade it in and hope that there's an old copy of ddr available, ANY old copy because any of the old ones have a better selection than this!
